#i've made this disclaimer on another post but will again since i've seen a lot more of the movies now #the movies are VERY good and very enjoyable but unfortunately the first handful are bogged down by transphobic/homophobic/okama stereotypes #they kind of vary in their severity. Movie 5 i think is the biggest catalyst because it features the stereotyped characters the most #prominently. Movie 3 doesnt really have caricatures per se but saves a very backhanded reveal for the end #Movies 1 and 4 are a bit more tolerable if my memory is correct. Movie 2 i think is kind of comparable to Movie 5 with its caricatures #in that the characters have similar roles in both movies #i admittedly can't remember what caricatures there were in Movie 6 or 7. 7 i think barely had anything #RAMBLE RAMBLE BASICALLY: these jokes are within the first 7 movies or so 5 being the zenith then reducing down and down. by movie 8 it's sa #e #i give these disclaimers because these movies are all very enjoyable and i would not recommend them if i didnt think there wasnt any merit #o them. they are all very much worth watching. Movie 5 still has a lot of very enjoyable stuff in it (there's a showdown in a supermarket!!#but i just want to make sure that is clear and established since transparency is good to have and i dont want anyone's viewing experience t #be ruined because they weren't given the proper warning #if it's any consolation it's my understanding that even the directors hated doing the jokes #iirc Keiichi Hara really didn't like doing the jokes and i think had a talk with the mangaka Yoshito Usui and was like 'uh dude this is #gonna age horribly can we maybe not'#ironically Hara's first film is Movie 5. which is again the biggest offender #BUT! that is my spiel. my understanding is that it's contained to those 6 or 7 first movies and i think is strictly just a movie thing #so please do give these films a watch but just be mindful at the same time #if anyone needs recommendations my favorites have been movies 4 and 9 but i genuinely really enjoyed every one that i have seen #i've seen the first 11 and a half movies (need to finish 12) and movie 22. the worst i've felt about one is 'oh that was pretty good!'#each film has its own merit and is very very very much worth watching #22 was the first Shin-chan anything i watched and all my Shin-chan expert friends say 4 is a good introductory piece #in case that influences anything/makes it easier to break in #so. thus concludes my spiel #csc #vid

every time i so much as think about that scene where light looks at porn magazines while scowling i go into hysterics its genuinely the funniest thing i've ever seen

#the funniest thing is is that i truly believe he thought he was being 100% convincing. that that's normal behavior for a completely straight #completely allosexual man #light is fucking awful and i hate him but also there's nuance to him. and sometimes i can get a little like. oh thinking about his life #before the series. specifically factoring in my headcanons about him being gay aroace and autistic and stuff. ppl have written some rlly #good fics surrounding those topics.... but yeah thats not even canon stuff but i dont care #anyways its not in a way of making excuses for how he is i just think it adds more to his character #hes total garbage but i think theres really interesting stuff with him when it comes to how he's.... VERY disconnected from others #just in general. he's like aware of how to act ''normal'' on like the most textbook surface level without being like. Aware enough to #be able to make it more convincing. and as ridiculous as it is i do see some of myself in him in that sense #also that person who said light and L is just autistic guy who's been masking his entire life vs autistic guy who's never masked in his #entire life. LITERALLY EXACTLY. genuinely perfect way to describe them they are both so similar when it comes to this #but the ways they go about it are very different. light has been playing the part of the perfect son his whole life. L doesnt try to change #himself for anyone and doesnt care when people think hes weird. both of them arent very socially aware and havent had any real friends #their whole lives. its such a fascinating parallel between them #i could go on a whole fucking thing about how light was pretending to be someone he's not around his family and at school and everything #long before he got the death note BUT. i wont. at least not right now #jesus christ how did i go from laughing about him with the magazine to this. my bad #derailed my own damn post. idk swagever #will say rq tho. watched a vid on youtube that pointed out how light expected his family to think nothing of the fact that he's gone to #such drastic measures to hide his diary when making the plan with hiding the death note which is like #that level of dedication would NOT be normal. so the fact that light expects his family to think nothing of it......#i mean you could read that as light just once again being socially unaware. but it could also imply that light's family kind of Knows #he's hiding something and just doesn't address it. (he's gay. im talking about him being gay)#the video also referenced this comic that i didnt rb cause the actual premise of it (lawlight wedding) is um.#not at all my kind of thing. Bad news for Star Wars action figure enjoyers because I just got the 3.75” Cad Bane figure and while this is what he looks like from the front—

… This is, unfortunately, what he looks like from the back.

They overlooked how things would appear at different angles and gave the guy with the most distinct and intimidating cowboy silhouette the most unflattering sculpt of a duster caboose I’ve ever seen

I guess if you’re one of those people who keeps them in the box to display you’re fine buuuuuut #heh. butt #Star wars #action figures #cad bane #They could have done a full split coat in the back #They could have made the duster fabric like they do for some other characters’ capes #They could have had both side swept back over the holsters and done better tooling on the folds #Also his face is the one from the live action not the cartoon so. same complaints there as back when I watched TBoBF #Like sure I usually prefer for the most practical effects to be used as possible #But like. you have to be able to deliver on it #And it’s Disney. they’re not lacking in money #They just don’t want to pay the right professionals to do good work #That one guy had that really good edited VFX vid done like a week after the episode #I’m going to see about modding his face to be closer to the original design #Hasbro sculptor: Hey you know who needs to have the look of a flat butt and jessica rabbit hips from the back?#Hasbro sculptor number 2: That guy based off of Angel Eyes from the most famous spaghetti western of all time?#Hasbro sculptor: Yeah that guy. we got this 15 min video of half these seiyuu telling either a truth or a lie to the theme of the ‘number 6’ (anniversary!!!!) and what came up was kinda interesting lol

the ones in charge of telling either a truth or lie were 0️⃣1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣🎋🍮🥂 and the rest had to vote on who was lying!!!! so the stories they told were

0️⃣: he was once scouted to be a professional baseball player. due his skills he would have been part of the clean up (baseball heavy hitters) and was offered the jersey number 6

1️⃣: he raised 6 cats in his youth and one of them was named gianko

2️⃣: in six months he gained 6kg

3️⃣: because he’s from osaka, he’s very attached to rokko related things (rokko range is near osaka, and uses the kanji for six in the name so he’s still on theme lol)

🎋: he finds it’s much easier to consume bread if it’s cut into six pieces

🍮: there is a movie he’s watched six times because the details seemed a little different on each watch

🥂: before bed, he’s eaten six pinot gris grapes

the seiyuu in the back all voted that ishiya-san and kuroda-san were lying but it turns out that only ishiya-san was lying!!!!! (6 truths 1 lie lmao) apparently he only gained 5kg in 6 months lol

#this is vee speaking #i never expected watching sports anime all the time meant that knowing the terminology would come in handy casually #but quite a few of these seiyuu are sports fans so it comes up so frequently LOL #kuroda-san told that story so confidently and like………….. it’s kuroda-san lol i believed him immediately lmao #both shiraimu and hayama-san tried to poke holes in kimura’s story lol #shiraimu the cat ambassador asked him what did his cats like to do and when kimura couldn’t answer hayama-san chimed #‘well then what were their names??’#kimura answered weakly with gianko and tho hayama-san continued to poke fun at him during the voting stage (😌✊)#that honestly told me he wasn’t lying lol since gian was kimura’s childhood seiyuu role LOL #komada-san was the one that sussed out ishiya-san and i can only reason it’s his physical trainer bg that helped lol #it was a fun time i just wish the bat seiyuu at least got to sit together since they do tend to be quiet in ensemble vids lol #at least they could be a shy/introverted family together lmao #btw everyone absolutely clowned on iwasaki-san LOL

Barbenheimer season: would the ROs watch Barbie, Oppenheimer, both or neither?

Oh man, this has been in the drafts for a while.... but it's time for a clean out!

Hannie isn't much of a movies person, so wouldn't mind going to either movie. Would enjoy Barbie more, though! They don't like Christopher Nolan movies (they think they're really boring).

N is doing a double feature for SURE, if only for the outfit swaps. Would definitely enjoy Barbie more, too!

Oli is in the TRENCHES. They know that if they watch Oppenheimer you will probably bring up their emo phase. But they really wanna watch. Olivia didn't play with dolls much as a kid (vice versa, Oliver didn't play with action figures and the like) even though they were around the house (emo phase, I'm not like other girls/boys), so Barbie wouldn't be first choice, but they'd love to watch it with the others.

WATCH INTERFACE. it’s so good and it’s soooo interesting how it incorporates and references real life paintings #and the episode i referenced earlier is like genuinely. one of the most interesting pieces of YouTube animation I’ve EVER witnessed #no one fight #interface is good. and so is the garfield video. watch both. they’re like combined in my brain like some uzumaki shit
