disclaimer 1: this post will contain spoilers for the pairings of every sjm book.
disclaimer 2: if I were to add every single couple sjm has written I would be here all day, so I will only add couples who are currently together (LoA and Beron), endgame (Aelin and Rowan), heavily implied to be endgame (Manon and Dorian) or where one of the people died (Aelin and Sam). I will not add couples that have broken up willingly or really secondary couples.
disclaimer 3: this post is anti gwynriel and elucien and pro elriel. It's also really long.
The argument that elriel is too cliché and cheesy due to the whole "3 brothers, 3 sisters" is so stupid to me. However, due to that part of the fandom and their unwillingness to think objectively, let's look at the statistics, shall we.
Here is a list of the sjm couples and their status as mates or not:
Aelin and Rowan - mates
Yrene and Chaol - humans, not mates
Manon and Dorian - we don't know, maybe
Elide and Lorcan - mates
Lysandra and Aedion - mates
Nesryn and Sartaq - humans, not mates
Elena and Gavin - mates
Aelin and Sam - broken up, not mates
Lyria and Rowan - broken up, not mates
Aedion's mom and Gavriel - heavily implied mates, maybe
Sorscha and Dorian - broken up, not mates
Asterin and the hunter - we don't know, maybe
Feyre and Rhys - mates
Nesta and Cassian - mates
Viviane and Kallias - mates
LoA and Beron - currently together, not mates
Jesminda and Lucien - broken up, not mates
Miryam and Drakon - mates
Amren and Varian - we don't know, maybe
Thesan and his lover - heavily implied mates, maybe
Rhys' mother and father - deceased, mates
Tamlin's mother and father - deceased, mates
Theia and Aidas - broken up, mates
Bryce and Hunt - mates
Lidia and Ruhn - mates
Danika and Baxian - broken up, mates
Sophie and Cormac - heavily implied mates, maybe
Fury and Juniper - we don't know, maybe
Declan and Marc - we don't know, maybe
Ember and Randall - humans, not mates
Bryce and Connor - broken up, not mates
Shahar and Hunt - broken up, not mates
Out of the 32 couples mentioned above, 14 are mates (43.75%), 10 aren't mates (31.25%) and 8 we don't know/it's implied (25%)
Out of the 14 couples who are mates, 12 either died while being a couple or are currently together (85.71%) and 2 are broken up mates (14.29%)
Out of the 10 couples who aren't mates, 3 are humans (30%), 6 are broken up and therefore not endgame (60%) and 1 are currently together (10%)
Before we continue let's talk about the definition of cliché:
something or someone that is not at all original, surprising, or interesting because it has very often been seen before.
In this post, a cliché couple will be part of the highest percentage of it's category.
Now let's add Elain, Gwyn, Azriel and Lucien to the mix. Here are the most discussed possibilities of these couples:
Elriel - mates and together
Elriel - not mates and together
Elriel - not mates and not together
Elucien - mates and together
Elucien - mates and broken bond
Gwynriel - mates and together
In the case of gwynriel being mates and together that would mean elucien are mates and together and would make elriel not mates and broken up.
So in this case there would be 35 couples, 16 mates (45.71%), 11 not mates (31.43%) and 8 we don't know/it's implied (22.86%)
Out of 16 mates, 14 either died while being a couple or are currently together (87.5%) and 2 are broken up mates (12.5%).
Out of 11 not mates, 3 are humans (27.27%), 7 are broken up and therefore not endgame (63.64%) and 1 are currently together (9.09%)
Therefore that would make gwynriel part of the 87.5% of mates who are together and a cliché
Elucien would also be part of the 87.5% and a cliché
Elriel would be part of the 63.64% of not mates who are broken up and a cliché.
In the case of elriel being mates and together, that would make elucien mates who are not together and gwynriel would be nonexistent.
The only reason gwynriel is noted as nonexistent and not not mates and not together is because while we have got clearly stated evidence of a romance between elriel (the almost kiss in the bonus chapter), we haven't gotten confirmed evidence of a romance between gwynriel (there are theories and maybe subtext, but not clearly stated evidence).
So in this case there would be 34 couples, 16 are mates (47.06%), 10 aren't mates (29.41%) and 8 we don't know/it's implied (23.53%).
Of the 16 mates, 13 either died while being a couple or are still together (81.25%) and 3 are broken up (18.75%).
Elriel would be part of the 81.25% and a cliché.
Elucien would be part of the 18.75% and not a cliché.
However, elriel being mates would mean that Elain had two mating bonds with two different males, so although the outcome would make elriel cliché, the execution would be a first for sjm and not cliché.
In the case of elriel not being mates but together, that would make elucien mates who are not together and gwynriel would be nonexistent.
Of the 34 couples, 15 are mates (44.12%), 11 aren't mates (32.35%) and 8 we don't know/it's implied (23.53%).
Out of the 15 mates, 12 either died while being a couple or are still together (80%) and 3 are broken up (20%).
Out of the 11 not mates, 3 are humans (27.28%), 6 are broken up (54.55%) and 2 (18.19%) are still together.
Elriel would be part of the 18.19% and not a cliché.
Elucien would be part of the 20% and not a cliché.
In conclusion, the only way elriel could be cliché would be if they were not mates and didn't end up together and if they were mates who ended up together. Even in the last case, they wouldn't be too cliché because it would mean Elain had two mating bonds, which we have yet to see in any sjm book.
The endgame for both gwynriel and elucien would make them cliché, while the breaking of the mating bond would make elucien not cliché and, let's be honest, there's not any other possibility of gwynriel being endgame apart from them being mates.
You can dislike whatever ship you want, but saying that elriel is a cliché would be an objective lie, when they are the most unique couple written by sjm to date.

I was joking but, i just think it's funny that it seems like blondie saw the nonsense about azriel being an abuser, a freak, whatever, and decided to start her pro shadowsinger campaign. He's literally for the girls who love all the girls. Born to be a girl's dad! A girl's best friend and Elain's male wife.
No wait‼️bc you are into something lol.
Our man is out there not only getting that CHECK as a shadowsinger but also going all in into his "I make her mad. I hope I'll die" persona that he always was tbh, like to every women he encounter's fr but especially elain
Lesbians admirer 24/7. The weird emo of the girls club. The Football team dad. CANON fan of giving a blowjussy while having the biggest boxer tent in the friend group
S*M did one thing right with a main lead man he's taking all the swag he's too powerful
Is also funny he's only hostile with Bryce like yeah he doesn't know her and she came out of nowhere but I also can't stop thinking is just him being his paw paw-self not knowing how to handle the Youth (bryciel being destroyed in the process is a whole plus to it)

hp fandom stats: fanon vs canon (reanalysis)
redone version of this post - canon count numbers were incomplete and inaccurate so i got out the ebooks and did my own count
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
important caveat: these are limited "what are people writing?" stats that just count number of fanworks, and say nothing about a) how long these fanworks are, b) how large a part the character plays in the fanwork, c) how the character is portrayed in the work, or d) anything at all about how popular these fanworks are with readers!
worst performers: Professor Tofty, Bob Ogden, Frank Bryce, Grawp, Gregorovitch, and Ludo Bagman had fewer fanworks on AO3 than times they were mentioned in canon.
otoh, top overperformers: Daphne Greengrass (>7600), Dorcas Meadowes (>9700), Scorpius Malfoy (>11200), Marlene McKinnon (>13200), and Theodore Nott (>16000) had that many fanworks from one single 7-book-canon mention. Euphemia and Fleamont Potter (>3000 works), Pandora Lovegood and Orion Black (>4000), and Astoria Greengrass (>6900) were not mentioned by name in the 7 books at all.
honestly i would say that from a brief glance, it doesn't seem obvious to me that canonically female characters or (canonically, extracanonically, or fanonically) POC characters are more or less commonly written about than their counterparts. with some exceptions, they're not exceptionally popular, but they're not noticeably less popular either.
the two (subjective) observations i would make are:
characters about whom we know more (has canon ship, or especially family) are written about more, whereas characters about whom we know less (unknown Hogwarts house) are written about less -- even accounting for their fewer canon mentions.
Nonhumans [non-exhaustive list: Fawkes, Fang, Hedwig, Crookshanks, Kreacher, Dobby, Winky, Peeves, Griphook, Grawp, Firenze and Bane, the Baron, Nick and Binns, the Fat Lady, also Nagini, Norbert and Aragog] were the one group that stood out to me as being written (or at least tagged) less than average. if anything, HP AO3 fandom has a pro-human bias 😂
a zoom-in of just the top bunch:
Tumblr media
and the mid-range:
Tumblr media
might do some stats next on how often--and how widely--they're shipped, but that will probably be a while coming because those can't really be done quickly. the ship/watch tool is the best i've found for getting all the top ships for a certain character (but it hasn't been updated since end 2021).

I have a feeling that SJM is pro Zionis seeing the anon ask about CC and Bryce reaction to human rebel. They way she made Rhys rule, I think they are very Zionis-y. 2/3 of his own country is suffering but our oh great High Lord is drunk and vicious 24/7.
I read astrababy post on Tarquin and Feysand not respecting others court. And oh, feel similar too somehow skskkssks. And remember Calaena is painted as bad because she agree w King of Adarlan action marching on Fae decades ago.
I know there was a rumour about her being a Zionist a few years ago due to an article she wrote about being Jewish. She didn't say anything about Palestine either way, but visiting Israel is mentioned as a birth right. (Weirdly, the article says she does suggest the demand for fantasy increased as a response to 9/11. Link)

Soooo I watched the Miraculous movie.
I have some thoughts.
(Spoilers under the cut)
First, my pros:
1) The animation. Oh my god the animation. It felt too good to be true in all honesty. It took me a minute to get used to it, but once I did, I was in love.
2) The character designs of Adrien, Marinette, and Gabriel are all BEAUTIFUL and so are their hero counterparts. Plagg and Tikki are also adorable and I love them.
3) Ladybug’s yo-yo is gorgeous. All of the gold detail work makes it look so much more alive and charming. I fell in love with the promo featuring it the second it came up on my feed.
Tumblr media
LIKE LOOK AT IT ITS GORGEOUS WHAT EVEN?? If they ever make a display yo-yo that looks like that I’d lose my everloving mind. I love the yo-yo :)
4) Canon footage of Gabriel actually caring about Adrien’s well being??? No way!!! When we saw that hug, me and my friend freaked the fuck out because Gabe was actually being a good dad?? But seriously, the Gabe rewrite was very necessary in my opinion. He shows real, genuine remorse for his actions for one of, if not the first time in the entire cinematic universe and having him regret what he did in the movie was very, very needed. Especially with the shorter run time.
5) Fu is a weirdo and I am living for it. The way he chases Marinette through the street after she saves him is hilarious to me. He was an absolute delight to watch and he managed to make me laugh more than once.
6) The sparring scene on the rooftop? Best scene in the entire movie and I will fight someone if they try to argue with me. You can practically taste LB/CN’s chemistry as the scene unfolds. The way they’re fighting against one another yet still working together?? Ugh. Brilliant.
7) The instrumentation was amazing. All the little motifs and parts tying the music to one another? Absolutely brilliant. I wasn’t a huge fan of the singing, nothing against Lou and SQVARE, it was just jarring to hear the Marinette voice drop. Thank god Bryce didn’t do the vocals for Adrien though I would have cried.
Now, it’s time for my issues (oh boy)
1) The entire movie felt rushed, ESPECIALLY the second act. They should have just committed to 2 hours in my opinion. Just 20 more minutes would have helped IMMENSELY with the pacing.
2) The character designs, overall, were quite jarring. Especially for background/minor characters. Something was always off. There are a few of the design choices that became sort of running jokes with my watch party. (Alya’s eyebrows, Gabriel’s chin and his long hair.)
3) A couple of the character rewrites were great. Some of them? Not so much. My specific gripes are as follows… Marinette falling for Adrien because he helped her up and called her weird. Same goes for Ladybug reluctantly helping Chat up during the fight. They could have done so much more with both of those scenes but they had to be rushed because of the cut run time. Also they butchered Plagg’s character and I am NOT here for it.
4) Most of this movie felt like a montage. It kinda was since they were trying to fit the entirety of the Gabriel arc into an hour and 40 minutes. I keep saying this, but they needed that extra 20 minutes in all reality.
5) I love the fact that the movie belongs to LadyNoir, we needed some good LadyNoir content because we get none in the show. What I don’t love, however, is that Adrien and Marinette didn’t really have any screen time at all. Just showing them interacting a little more would have been nice.
6) They cut The Wall Between Us. This is just a personal bias. I’ve been in love with this song for literal years. I’ve learned how to sing it in French simply because it brought me so much joy. I’m so upset they cut it but I don’t fault them for it. (At least it’s still on Spotify 😭)
Final thoughts:
This requires a bit of a storytime. My sister isn’t that into Miraculous. She watched the movie with me (and one of our friends) last night and she overall liked the movie. She brought up a good point about it though. “I feel like you have to know the show to see the movie but if you’ve seen the show it’s a little underwhelming because you expect it to be a certain way and it’s not.”
I fully agree with this sentiment. The first time Adrien’s name is even said is around 30~ minutes into the movie and that’s not really good storytelling for people who haven’t seen the show. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adored the movie, I can tell it’s going to be a comfort film for me. There were just a LOT of plot issues, story inconsistencies, and overall just weak writing. But that’s okay! The plot is really simple compared to the show and that’s also okay! My gripes with the movie are just because I want the best for these silly little animated superheroes.
Overall, this movie will always be a 10/10 in my heart, it makes me so freaking happy that the movie finally released, but if I’m being fully objective it’s gotta be a 7/10. The pacing issues and some of the awful characterization really drags the movie down, but that’s just my opinion.

Shook Crew & Dante Drago - Come & Get It - 5/27/2022 Just as Bobby Orlando vs Ryan Mooney will be a clash of speed kings, Bryce Donovan vs Perry Von Vicious is a test of all-rounded might.  Both stand at well over 6 feet and yet are not afraid to take to the skies or grit their teeth and slug it out.  Perry looks to avenge a Rip Byson singles loss to Bryce from Blitzkrieg Pro years back, while Bryce would make a thunderous statement in taking down a Day 1 GRINDer in his singles debut. Will Perry take his first step back towards Grand Championship contention?  Can Bryce topple the Human Monster Truck or will Perry roar to victory?! “Uptown” Andy Brown (2-2) vs. Griffin McCoy (0-0) Andy Last 3: Andy Brown d. Brandon Williams - Stiff Upper Lip - 3/24/2023 Andy Brown d. Danny Miles - Overkill 2023 - 2/24/2023 Perry Von Vicious d. Andy Brown - Sinister Urge - 12/2/2022 Rising stars in the tri-state area set for a first-time ever collision as the surging Andy Brown takes on the debuting Griffin McCoy.  Both west coast imports are well-rounded and battle-tested strikers that can shift phases by the second.  Can Big Griff capture the ever-elusive debut GRIND victory or will Andy Brown make it 3 in a row and possibly cement himself as the next GRIND Grand Championship contender? “God Queen” Delmi Exo (6-3) vs. “Courageous” Christina Marie (0-0) Delmi Last 3: B3CCA d. Delmi Exo - Stiff Upper Lip - 3/24/2023 Delmi Exo d. Jac St. Jean - Overkill 2023 - 2/24/2023 Emi Sakura d. Mane Event - Celebration Day - 10/28/2022 Rip & WARHORSE d. Shook Crew - Fear Of The Dark - 9/4/2022 Jay Freddie & The Saito Brothers d. Shook Crew & Dante Drago - Come & Get It - 5/27/2022 Mooney Last 3:  Ryan Mooney d. Ichiban - Overkill 2023 - 2/24/2023 Anthony Henry d. Ryan Mooney - All We Are - 12/31/2022 Jay Freddie d. Ryan Mooney - Electric Crown - 9/30/2022 Tri-state junior gods collide as one of the longest reigning singles champions in New England wrestling history in Bobby Orlando makes his singles debut against GRIND mainstay “The Rabid Honey Badger” Ryan Mooney!  Mooney came very close to tasting singles gold of his own in the Emerald 12, beating Alec Price and Rip Byson before falling to Jay Freddie in the semifinals, and looks to build on his recent victory over Ichiban.  Will the Shook Crew go 2 for 2 in singles debuts?  Is The GOATest Of All Time on the cusp of starting another legendary singles tear?! Or will Ryan Mooney make it two straight in his neverending quest to mark GRIND as Honey Badger Territory?! A-GAME/SKYROS II “Moonlight Son” Mike Skyros (3-3) vs. “A-Game” Joseph Alexander (3-4) Skyros Last 3: Mike Skyros d. Ryan Clancy - Stiff Upper Lip - 3/24/2023 Mane Event d. Moonlight Hornets - Overkill 2023 - 2/24/2023 Mike Skyros d. JD Drake - All We Are - 12/31/2022 A-Game Last 3: Joseph Alexander d. Rip Byson - Stiff Upper Lip - 3/24/2023 Manders d. Joseph Alexander - Sinister Urge - 12/2/2022 Joseph Alexander d. Nolo Kitano - Celebration Day - 10/28/2022 Our first of two rematches on the evening is from July 2022 at “Doctor Doctor,” a night where Joseph Alexander captured his first victory at GRIND at the expense of the at-the-time also-winless Mike Skyros.  This time around, this is a Mike Skyros who has since found victory in 2 of his last 3 contests, and notably 3 of his last 3 singles contests.  A-Game has also been victorious in 2 of his last 3 contests, and now both combatants are on the cusp of Grand Championship contention.  Who walks out the winner in A-Game/Skyros II?! STRAP MATCH “Iron” Rip Byson (8-4-1) vs. “King’s Road Slayer” Derek Neal (1-0-1) Rip Last 3: Joseph Alexander d. Rip Byson - Stiff Upper Lip - 3/24/2023 Rip Byson d. ZPB - Overkill 2023 - 2/24/2023 Gary Jay d. Rip Byson - All We Are - 12/31/2022 Derek Last 2:  Derek Neal d. Perry Von Vicious - Stiff Upper Lip - 3/24/2023 Derek Neal nc. Rip Byson - Come & Get It - 5/27/2022 The two most decorated Strap Match participants going today lock horns with an endless amount of bad blood between them.  Just as Perry looks to avenge a Ripper loss to Bryce Donovan from Blitzkrieg Pro years ago, Ripper looks to avenge Perry’s loss to Derek Neal last time around at Stiff Upper Lip.  This only stokes the fire that started at Come & Get It nearly a year ago when the first singles bout between The King’s Road Slayer and Easthampton’s Iron Horse went to a no-contest after the referee attempted to assert some order and received a pair of fists for his trouble.  Who will survive what is certain to be one of the most ferocious battles in GRIND history?! GRIND GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP (V5) Anthony Henry (3-0) vs. “Blue Thunder” Jay Freddie (12-1) (c) Henry Last 3:  Anthony Henry d. Ryan Mooney - All We Are - 12/31/2022 Anthony Henry d. Alec Price - Celebration Day - 10/28/2022 Anthony Henry d. Travis Huckabee - Doctor Doctor - 7/1/2022 Freddie Last 3:  Jay Freddie d. Channing Thomas (V4) - Stiff Upper Lip - 3/24/2023 Jay Freddie d. Bryan Keith (V3) - Overkill 2023 - 2/24/2023 Jay Freddie d. O’Shay Edwards (V2) - All We Are - 12/31/2022 The time has come.  Champion and challenger have been on a collision course since Jay Freddie toppled Anthony Henry’s partner JD Drake at Overkill in January 2022.  And now the stakes are infinitely higher as the Grandest Prize in GRIND hangs in the balance.  The series is split between the two, Henry got the victory in their singles encounter at Limitless “Hysteria” while Freddie & John Silver defeated The Workhorsemen at “Only Fools Are Satisfied.”  But this will be the first time they’ve touched in over 5 years, and each are far better versions now of the wrestlers they were then.  Can Jay Freddie make a successful 5th defense on his 6 month anniversary as champion or will Anthony Henry cap off his 10 month journey to the top contender’s slot as the 2nd GRIND Grand Champion? See you Friday in Easthampton! - JT

I hate when people said elriel is not going to work because is a cliche ,girl is a romantic fantasy series there has to be some cliche even if we don’t want to. In my personal opinion i fell like the 3 bother and 3 sister trove is more than a cliche and there is a reason why sjm wanted it to be that way. I think it has to do with a holy trinity that the mother represents and how this 3 repetitions in the book are going to play some part in a prophecy or at the end of the series, sjm never writes something without a reason .just like she gave bryce a 7 point start there is a reason for that too
How many times the fandom has hate where the book is heading and then sjm shout our mouth with a beautiful book, look how many people refuse to read ACOSF and now majority of this people are pro nesta because sjm show us how each character has an awesome part.

Mike Florio questioned reporting about Ben Johnson. After interviewing for the head coaching position, the offensive coordinator opted to stay with the Detroit Lions. Schefter claimed Johnson wasn't a head coaching "lock," and his asking price "spooked" teams.
During a Wednesday interview on Chicago's 670 The Score, Florio blasted Schefter for sharing that accusation without any more details.
The Pro Football Talk founder also noted that he and Schefter used to be friends but "currently aren't." Florio called it "unfair" for the ESPN insider to create a narrative about Johnson that will be "treated as gospel." He wants to know a number to get a better sense of whether Johnson's demands were unrealistic or if the Washington Commanders fed Schefter a "face-saving" accusation after missing their potential target.
Schefter later added that the Commanders were flying to Detroit to interview Johnson and Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn when learning about Johnson's "surprising" decision. He reported Thursday that Washington is hiring Dan Quinn as its next head coach.
Boston College needs a new head coach after the Green Bay Packers made Jeff Hafley their new defensive coordinator. A national writer believes the Eagles could eye two Ohio State staffers. The Athletic's Bruce Feldman identified Buckeyes offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien and associate head coach Justin Frye as two potential candidates.
Feldman called O'Brien a "wild card option." The Buckeyes hired him two weeks ago after a tumultuous season with the New England Patriots.
O'Brien, who was born in Boston, worked as Alabama's offensive coordinator during Bryce Young's 2021 Heisman campaign. The Crimson Tide averaged 41.1 points per game in 2022 before O'Brien returned to Foxborough for his second stint on Bill Belichick's staff. Feldman said the former Houston Texans head coach explored the Boston College job before.
Meanwhile, Frye spent five seasons at Boston College as an offensive lines coach and run-game coordinator. Feldman said Frye, who was up for Indiana's head coaching vacancy, possesses the "commanding presence and the polish" for the job. It wouldn't be the first time Boston College found its head coach in Columbus. Hafley spent the 2019 season as Ohio State's co-defensive coordinator before joining the Eagles.
Boston College went 7-6 with a Fenway Bowl win last season. Feldman also mentioned Brian Flores, Liam Coen, Jason Candle, and Al Washington, among other possible candidates.
Iowa is self-reporting an NCAA violation after having impermissible contact with a former five-star transfer. Per The Athletic's Scott Dochterman, Iowa is self-reporting a Level III violation with Kadyn Proctor. Someone at Iowa texted Proctor while he was still at Alabama and told him to "hang in there" after a game.
If the violation is confirmed, the staffer might have to get further education.
The staffer was tampering with Proctor even though he was playing for another school. Proctor eventually entered the transfer portal before committing to Iowa last month. He was committed to Iowa before he flipped his commitment to Alabama before signing day.
He then started 13 games as a freshman at Alabama, and that got him a spot on the All-SEC Freshman Team. He'll now get to play for Iowa once its 2024 season gets underway on Aug. 31.
While dealing with a hip injury, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney was excused from Sunday's AFC Championship Game to be there for the birth of his first child. Now that he's a father, is he also fit to return to practice? According to ProFootballTalk, the former first-round draft pick was removed from the Chiefs' injury report today. He had been listed as a full participant yesterday for "not injury related/personal," but is now 100 percent heading into Super Bowl Media Week.
Toney was a full participant in last Wednesday's practice leading up to the game before being limited in Thursday's and Friday's practices, earning a "questionable" listing on the final injury report before ultimately being ruled out. Toney has been the most polarizing player on the Chiefs this season. Drops and a controversial offsides call in a loss to the Buffalo Bills have contributed to fans lambasting him at every turn.
Nevertheless, Kadarius Toney has not played in an NFL game since mid-December. He's only had four games this season with more than 20 receiving yards and none with more than 40. But in 10 days, he could get a chance to play a role - and no small one at that - in Super Bowl LVIII.
The Kansas City Chiefs had one of their best defensive players back at practice on Thursday. Linebacker Willie Gay, who has been dealing with a neck injury and missed last Sunday's AFC Championship Game, was a full participant at practice on Thursday.
Gay didn't suit up against the Baltimore Ravens last weekend with the injury he suffered during the AFC Divisional round against the Buffalo Bills. Needless to say, getting Gay back for Super Bowl LVIII would be a massive boost for the Chiefs' defense since he's one of their best players.
During the regular season, Gay appeared in 16 games and compiled 58 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, and four passes defended. If he's able to keep practicing, there's a good chance he'll be ready to go against the 49ers at Allegiant Stadium on Feb. 11.

4th & 2:00 A.M. :
For Those Times When You Just Have to Go Home With Someone
So here you are! It’s almost closing time and you’re still scanning the room looking for a piece of action before it’s too late. Well we’re sorry to tell you, that you didn’t necessarily come to the right place. But that being said if you’re here, you clearly don’t have any better options.
While we won’t promise this weekend will be everything you fantasized about, we will do our best to help you find someone you can take home before the clock strikes 2:00 (or you know 6:30 or whatever the fuck British time is for Ravens vs Titans). Players have already cleared waivers and if you’re desperate enough to be reading this, we’ve got one last ditch option for every position to help you throw a Hail Mary and try to score before the weekend ends. So prepare to make your gutsiest call, as we get go for it on 4th & 2:00 A.M!
Quarterback: Joshua Dobbs (26.7% Rostered)
Pros:
6:2 Touchdown to Interception Ratio on the Year
Facing a divisional rival playing several young players
Rushing upside
Cons:
Arguably their best offensive player in James Conner is out
Would you start any of his weapons????
Running Back: Salvon Ahmed (4.6% Rostered)
Pros:
De’Von Hype Train just went on IR, giving Ahmed a huge opportunity behind Mostert
Miami will probably be up by 100 by halftime forcing the backups into action
Facing a piece of shit Carolina Team with the Second Worst Run Defense that frankly, should kill itself in very public fashion
Cons:
Mostert is clearly the guy
Wide Receiver: Jonathan Mingo (11.8% Rostered)
Pros:
Coming off his best game of the season (5 of 7 targets for 48 yards)
Like the Giants before them last week, facing a Miami team that’s going to force them to throw after hanging 100 on them
Cons:
Bryce Young is his Quarterback
Has yet to crack double digit fantasy points
Tight End: Jonnu Smith (13.8% Rostered)
Pros:
Has had consistent fantasy production outside of Week 1
Facing a Commanders’ team that just got lit up by Justin Fields in the passing game
Desmond Ridder fucking sucks dick and needs to lean on short to mid yardage threats
Cons:
Desmond Ridder fucking sucks dick
Smith is coming off a minor ankle injury
Defense: Raiders (20.5% rostered)
Pros:
Mac Jones has about as good of a chance of lighting up this Defense as Stephen Hawking (past or present) has of giving Teanna Trump the night of her life
The Patriots have been out scored 72-3 their last two games
The Empire is Dead?
Cons:
Jimmy G may put this Defense in horrible positions
We would stream the Patriots’ Defense almost as quickly as we would stream this one!!!!
Kicker: Brett Maher (47.7% Rostered)
Pros:
Playing for an Offense boasting Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua
4 of 4 for FG’s less than 40 yards (gets a little dicey after that though)
Should have ample opportunity against a bottom feeder Cardinals’ Defense (giving up 27.2 points per game through five games)u
Cons:
Shaky beyond 40 yards
Didn’t even attempt a field goal last week

2023 NFL MOCK DRAFT
Thursday, April 27
FIRST ROUND
1. Carolina (FROM CHI) - QB Bryce Young (Alabama)
The rumor is this is a done deal. Bryce Young satisfied any concerns about his lack of ideal size and solidified himself as the safest pick. He’s got a great head for the game, unreal anticipation and field awareness, and he appears to be exactly the sort of person you want representing your team.
2. Houston - DE/OLB Will Anderson (Alabama)
Will Houston pass on a quarterback to take one of the cleanest players in this draft? They just might…
3. Houston (PROJ. TRADE W/ARZ) - QB C.J. Stroud (Ohio State)
…until they trade up to take one! The Texans have loads of capital in this draft, and while they have plenty of holes to fill, they want to follow the Jets’ example of moving up to secure the players they want.
4. Indianapolis - QB Will Levis (Kentucky)
This becomes a no-brainer with both Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud off the board. Levis is the last of the quarterbacks who can step in the play as a rookie. Levis worked out of a pro-style offense at Kentucky, and he’s got all the unearned confidence he needs to convince coaches he’s capable of starting. He’ll flop.
5. Seattle (THRU DEN) - DT/DE Jalen Carter (Georgia) !
Seattle lucks into perhaps the most talented player coming out this year. Carter’s legal troubles so far don’t seem to be serious enough to bounce him out of the top 5 given his abilities on the field.
6. Detroit (THRU LAR) - CB Devon Witherspoon (Illinois)
Jared Goff’s job is safe for now. The Lions traded away Jeff Okudah for a 5th round pick and a pack of bubble gum.  They brought in Cam Sutton to start on one side, but Witherspoon will be an instant starter across from him.
7. Las Vegas - DE Tyree Wilson (Texas Tech)
Teaming Wilson with Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones is almost unfair. Jones might have one year left with the team, so Wilson has greater future value than immediate value.
8. NY Jets (PROJ. TRADE W/ATL)  - OT Paris Johnson, Jr. (Ohio State)
The Jets aren’t convinced that Mekhi Becton is their left tackle of the future. His conditioning just isn’t at a pro level. Atlanta needs to move down and collect more picks. The Jets (with the expected acquisition of Aaron Rodgers) are in win-now mode, so they’ll spend now and figure out how to pay for it later.
9. Chicago (THRU CAR) - RB Bijan Robinson (Texas)
The Bears let David Montgomery walk in free agency, but they find a huge upgrade in the draft. Sure, they still need big help along the offensive line, but Chicago figures the talent on Day 2 isn’t remarkably different than the top talent this year. A guy like Bijan is in a class of his own.
10. Philadelphia (THRU CLE) - CB Christian Gonzalez (Oregon)
You don’t often see a Super Bowl team drafting in the top-10, so this is a pure luxury pick. The Eagles feel Gonzalez just has too much upside to pass up here - even though CB isn’t an immediate need.
11. Tennessee - OT Broderick Jones (Georgia) The Titans stick with their plan to groom Malik Willis for two years before they decide what they’ve got, so they pass on this year’s QBs. Tennessee released LT Taylor Lewan and brought in Andre Dillard, a wasted first-round pick of Philly’s a few years ago. There are plenty of potentially-great tackles available this year, but they’re starting to come off the board quickly. The Titans considered trading up but didn’t have the ammo, so they stay put and are relieved to find Broderick Jones still hanging around.
12. Arizona (PROJ. TRADE W/HOU THRU CLE) - CB Joey Porter, Jr. (Penn State)
The Cardinals need help at corner pretty badly. They were hoping that either Witherspoon or Gonzalez would fall to them after trading down, but that didn’t work out. Joey Porter is the next best option.
13. Green Bay - OT/G Peter Skoronski (Northwestern)
If the Packers will have any chance of winning in 2023, they need to bolster the O-line in front of Jordan Love. Skoronski will be a welcome sight for Love as he embarks on his first starting campaign. He’s likely a guard this year - with the potential to kick out to tackle in the future.
14. Washington (PROJ. TRADE W/NE) - QB Anthony Richardson (Florida)
The Commanders get ahead of Atlanta to take the boom-or-bust QB prospect out of Florida. Richardson shouldn’t be allowed to play at all as a rookie (outside of a few Taysom Hill-esque gadget plays), but his future potential is too good to pass up here.
15. Atlanta (PROJ. TRADE W/NYJ VIA GB) - DE Lukas Van Ness (Iowa)
Atlanta needs defensive line help in the worst way, so they take a risk on the green Van Ness. He may need a few years to develop, but he’s got Trey Hendrickson potential. They pick up one of the Jets’ many, many 2nd rounders in the move down and well as 2024 compensation.
16. New England (PROJ. TRADE W/WAS) - WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Ohio State) +
The Pats have a terrible record of drafting wide receivers, but they try again. Smith-Njigba is likely only a slot receiver, but he could be an elite one.
17. Pittsburgh - OT Darnell Wright (Tennessee)
The Steelers need to focus on that woeful offensive line this year. Kenny Pickett never really had much of a chance as a rookie, but he still showed promise. Time to give him some blockers.
18. Detroit - TE Michael Mayer (Notre Dame)
The Lions are so close to being a great team; they’re likely eyeballing the 1-2 positions of greatest need to get them over the hump. Tight end is a glaring hole on their roster. Michael Mayer is the safest pick among this year’s TEs. Pro Bowl-level hands, strong blocking ability, not much YAC to his game, but he’ll move the chains as well as anybody. Day 1 starter and huge improvement.
19. Tampa Bay - G O’Cyrus Torrence (Florida)
The Bucs are in desperate need of offensive line help. Torrence is the best pure guard coming out this year, but this is still a bit high for him.
20. Seattle - QB Hendon Hooker (Tennessee)
Hooker has been getting a lot of looks from teams at the bottom of the first round. Seems like someone is bound to take a risk on him on the first day, maybe higher than people expect. The Seahawks love Geno Smith, but Hooker will be the starter 2 years from now. If Hooker hadn’t gotten injured, we’d be talking about him as a top-10 talent with his accuracy and decision-making.
Miami - FORFEITED
21. LA Chargers - WR Zay Flowers (Boston College)
The Chargers prepare for the eventual end of Keenan Allen’s stellar career by bringing in someone with some of Allen’s qualities. Zay Flowers can be brought along slowly as a rookie, but he’s a potential #1 target for Justin Herbert for years to come.
22. Baltimore - CB Deonte Banks (Maryland)
The Ravens keep Deonte Banks near home. They have an aging defensive backfield badly in need of quality youth. Banks showed amazing athleticism at the Combine.
23. Minnesota - DE Myles Murphy (Clemson)
The Vikings once boasted greatness along their defensive line, but that talent has waned in recent years. They’ll need to replenish, and it starts with Murphy.
24. Jacksonville - DT/DE Calijah Kancey (Pittsburgh)
The Jags have a habit of taking D-linemen in this round - not always with great luck. Kancey is a bit of a steal here, if not a huge immediate need for Jacksonville.
25. NY Giants - TE Dalton Kincaid (Utah)
The Giants somehow eked out a playoff appearance despite having the most woeful set of starting receivers in the league. They got by with a rookie at tight end last year, but they badly need to upgrade there.
26. Dallas - TE Darnell Washington (Georgia)
Once the Cowboys let Dalton Schultz walk in free agency, it opened up a huge hole at tight end. Darnell Washington is a combination of size and athleticism that doesn’t come along very often. Dallas fans should be doing backflips over this one.
27. Buffalo - DE/OLB Nolan Smith (Georgia) +
The undersized and oft-injured Nolan Smith falls down the board a bit farther than some draftniks thought, but the Bills take a chance on his freakish athleticism. He may need to convert to linebacker in this scheme, but he’s got time to develop.
28. Cincinnati - CB/S Brian Branch (Alabama)
The Bengals’ safety position got raided in free agency, so they bring in some fresh legs. Branch will be an all-purpose defensive back initially but his future is at free safety.
29. New Orleans (THRU SF, MIA, DEN) - DT Bryan Bresee (Clemson) +
The Saints might be the beneficiaries of a surprising fall here. Bresee is a run-stopping expert with a little pass-rushing ability to go along with it.
30. Philadelphia - DE Keion White (Georgia Tech)
The Eagles love their defensive line rotation, and they need bodies to keep those players fresh. Keion White has enjoyed a rapid rise up the draft boards, and the fact that he was one of the players invited to attend Day One of the draft speaks to how valued he is by GM’s.
31. Kansas City - OT Anton Harrison (Oklahoma)
Jawaan Taylor was brought in to play left tackle (after spending his entire pro career on the right side), so Harrison is headed to the other side of the line.
SECOND ROUND
32. Pittsburgh (FROM CHI) - CB Kelee Ringo (Georgia)
33. Arizona (PROJ. TRADE W/HOU) - WR Quentin Johnston (TCU)
34. Arizona - OLB Drew Sanders (Arkansas)
35. Indianapolis - LB Trenton Simpson (Clemson)
36. LA Rams - DE/OLB Will McDonald IV (Iowa State)
37. Seattle (FROM DEN) - WR Jordan Addison (USC)
