I've never read Yellowfang's Secret and it's insane to me that what we see of Lizard is supposed to be "evil woman" like from the screenshots you posted this is really and truly someone who is being forced to bear children. Forced to care for them. Lashing out that her husband can keep doing his job and she has to drop everything to care for children she didn't want. And that horrible shit from Ragged oh my God dude.
It's SO fucked up!! That exchange with Hollyflower is HORRIFYING!!!
Like, during the Brokenkit Handoff, she's shouting about not wanting to raise every unwanted kit and how badly she hates this, only for Raggedstar to start bellowing at her to shut her mouth. He's able to "convince" her based on on "ambition" they slapped onto the character in that moment, but when you really step back and look at the context, it just reads like she realizes she has no fucking choice
She's the only queen in the nursery. There was no "saying no"

She's a horrible mother because she DOESN'T WANT THIS, and the narrative condemns her, even partially blames her for A BABY-KILLING TYRANT, because she wasn't happy about the situation she was forced into.

I kinda maybe put a lot of my OC plot tag lines on a Wheel and gave it a spin so outta 79 options, it landed on "Cellphone Justice" which is... these two.
Matthew "Skittles" Mouse and Daisy Eddington
Partners in justice (of sorts). They're basically vigilantes and their orders are simply text messages. They don't really know who their bosses are but they do as they are told.
Skittles is a very mediocre guy. Doesn't stand out. The most color he has in his wardrobe is blue jeans. He's amazingly asexual and has zero interest in romance regardless of intimacy and yet he gets partnered with Daisy. The gayest lady he has ever met. Great start. She enjoys calling him fun little nicknames but seeing as they're monitored closely (via cell phones/technology) she is scolded and told to pick a single one. So she does. She dubs him Skittles. The candy as gay as her.
The one thing they have in common is their number one weakness: cute girls.
Daisy turns into a stuttering MESS of a human being. A disaster. At the mere sight of a cute girl. Skittles on the other hand is TERRIFIED of them. When asked, he simply blames his life growing up. Daisy doesn't really push the matter just thinks it's a little weird to be scared of every single cute girl (no offense to the not being afraid of her taken).
#my characters#like the entire thing with skittles is just he is SO boring looking and hes so scared of cute girls#and daisy thinks its REALLY FUNNY dude why are you scared of them haha girls are GREAT#and then she meets his younger sister and is like oh dang dude she is ADORABLE and she sees him practically shaking and sweating#surely its not THAT bad but ah no wait#two days pass and daisy is like oh my god shes horrifying ????? what the hell?#and growing up with her and trying to be a good big brother is all fine and dandy until the cute lil sister gets him hurt a lot#like hospital injuries from either protecting her or just .... somehow wrong place with her at the wrong times all the time#so he gets a fear of cute girls bc his lil sister is a cute monster who is the reason most of his limbs have been broken in the past#like broken leg ? that was from amelia and a stair case#the broken arm ? trying to help amelia get something out of a tree#the broken wrist ? catching amelia falling out of a tree#the other broken leg ? amelia -#the list goes on and on and he also got into multiple fights trying to keep her safe from guys#bc she really is just a cute lil innocent looking girl but shes a schemer and it does come back to bite her#except for she has a good big bro who took the repercussions when he could#daisy just watching her partner pale and shake and sweat when hes in the same room as his sister and daisy feels so bad for him#like hes really going through it even after all these years#but meeting amelia puts a lot into perspective for when daisy and skittles are out and about#cause hes very efficient and chill talking to dudes and to mature looking women#then he turns into a bundle of nerves at wide eyed innocence and daisy is like yeah ok i gotta#i gotta be a lil less gay for his sake only if hes around cause i cant make him talk to his biggest fear thats mean#shes still really gay but yeah it works out and she looks out for him and in turn he looks out for her and its great!#they become friends! yeehaw!#lil trivia is she was a drama kid in hs and he was on the baseball team but never really played or put effort into it#she was a straight a student and he very consciously maintained a c average through calculating grades and missing stuff on tests on purpos#anyway thank u if you read all the tags or even ty if you read just hte post itself#im sorry for ocing on main when its my own ocs#ill be back tomorrow with .... idk what

as a Rebecca enjoyer I would really like to see some options in book 4 digging into how little has changed if your detective is seeking or ambivalent to reconciliation, or the absence of apologies. As well as detectives who aren’t seeking/rejecting reconciliation but Rebecca cannot let go of anyways. Especially since we’ve now had one of the few times, according to the detective’s memory, Rebecca explicitly expressing regret for her actions.
#I kind of disagree w most people that the narrative is pushing you into forgiving her#kind of.#I think wayhaven’s writing style is intentionally pretty transparent to the reader on character motivations#even when they/the detective aren’t explicitly aware#there’s enough context clues to get an idea of what’s sitting underneath the surface#so I think the emphasis on Rebecca’s grief around her kid is more about telling the audience that her feelings on these matters ARE sincere#in nature. at least to how Rebecca interprets then#but what id enjoy seeing some more of in book 4 is the choice to pull open the conflicts happening here#Rebecca runs away AND engages w the detective irrespective of their wishes because she simultaneously cannot accept this relationship as#broken beyond repair AND is unable to acknowledge to herself the core issue to their relationship#the job was an obstacle yeah but the true conflict to their relationship is Rebecca’s avoidance w dealing w grief#and it results in what we see in either relationship state#I can’t let you go/I can’t believe it’s broken beyond repair <- can’t acknowledge what I chose to do#I can’t break down these walls/won’t spend time with you <- won’t acknowledge I ran away from you out of grief#and I think the next step narrative wise now that the tone to their relationship has gone through the big revalation arcs#is to start unpacking the WHYS#allow the detective to have those hard conversations and deal w whether Rebecca runs away from those or not#tunes talks wayhaven

I don’t get people who use “nothing bad can happen to the flame chasers 🙄” as a critic of Elysium Everlasting. Like, ya… nothing bad happens to them there because it’s literally what the realm was designed for. It’s literally Elysia’s fantasy rest place for her friends who went through nothing but torture irl and to allow their stories to be continued to be told in the future. This isn’t a real world, these aren’t real people- these are sims in a controlled, digital environment and all their real life counterparts are either dead, wishing they were dead, or Fu Hua. This point was established so early on the story, how did y’all miss it?

90 npcs ready to go in my save & one world done !!! i know i say this at least once a month (😅) but i’m taking a hiatus/won’t be on much this week with it being the last week of school. this exact time next week, i’ll have one (!!!!) hour left with the kiddos and then one in-service day on Friday and i’m freeee ! the plan this summer is rotational gameplay using one save file. so excited

i know that i've already said that my main verse here will be the more general one for the sake of crossovers, but i'm thinking about serpent's canon route and ending in the original game and honestly ? while i do understand the kind of message that it wants to convey ( to serpent, especially ) i think that it does not serve a healthy purpose in the slightest. telling serpent that she can and will be happy one day in spite of everything that she has gone through is indeed valid, but telling her that in order to be happy then she must learn to love others + learn how to be loved by others is not what she needs, in my opinion. even in the canon dialogue during her ending, we see the chief asking others to tell serpent that they like / care about her just so she will stop causing problems to others.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT WHAT SERPENT NEEDS. as someone who is prone to obsessing over things ( it was her obsession with the abstract concept of happiness that has caused all of this mess in the first place, after all ) , telling her that she can finally be happy if others love her is just going to further twist and distort the way she looks at things + the way she perceives herself + the way she approaches others when it comes to interpersonal relationships. of course, serpent can experience true happiness through another's person love BUT NOT LIKE THIS, not with others just telling her what she wants to hear so she won't cause problems to them.
i believe that in order to be truly happy, serpent must heal first. her obsession with ambrosia and with "forgetting all the bad memories" directly stems from the fact that her life has been nothing more than a long string of horrors, one interwoven with the other, and she wishes she could forget about those too even if she never outwardly says so. this is why she offers the drug to others, not because she wants to just wound them or earn money through it, but because she empathizes in a twisted way with other people's agonies and traumas [ ... ] because even if the ambrosia had no effect on her, then maybe it will have effect on someone else.
serpent does not need second - hand affection to be happy. serpent needs to heal, because only once she's capable of looking at the world through her own eyes and no longer through the grotesque lenses of her traumas, she will finally be able to find not only her little place in the world but also someone to share that place ( and thus her newfound happiness ) with.

Going through my Exile posts, trying to piece together a more concrete timeline while keeping it accurate to what we already have, and this is... actually really helping! like. wow okay. And some questions I threw out into the void, I actually have answers for now! amazing

I've got some new Crow, Saint, and potentially Ikora lore (potentially, because I'm not sure if I want to go that far in her guilt) i wanna explore some, but... not really sure how or what to even start with bc brain's refusing to give me anything coherent anymore. So Saint barely trusts what he knows bc he was hearing from *Sav* not *Osiris*#so many characters so little time. and way too much lore and story to plot them through-#and here i go again with essays in my tags. dear god#i am too ill about exile to not do this
