OMG in your author notes I saw "murderess brother" 👀👀👀👀👀👀 she/her jason confirmed??? Even if it's a typo or something (s)he def drinks his respect women juice and I mean who wouldn't after reading p&p (did you hear wfa canonized that? they're really confirming the best stuff we always knew should be canon...). anyways I love your portrayal of jason todd over the past couple chapters!! (s)he's a little violent but you're right that (s)he's still probably got a little pit issues. I know you're a tim stan but I think you've got such a great plot thread about how jason can really say what needs to be said to all the bats in gotham!! honestly (s)he's kind of a girlboss for that
Okay honestly, I didn’t do that on purpose (I can’t spell worth a dime), but I’m going to go with it. She/her Jason confirmed. Also WFA is literally the best. I did hear they canonized that, which literally the best thing DC’s done since making Tim and Jason close friends and siblings 😍.
Oh thanks for your compliments on my Jason characterization. I am a Tim stan first, obvi, but Jason is pretty cool too. I’m so glad you love my work, and yeah Jason is seriously #girlboss.

WOW i thought you’d abandoned dc or something SO excited to see you back!!! have you read any comics recently? i think you’d love red robin (tim’s having a rough time, nobody’s got his back but he brings bruce back and proves them all wrong!!).
i read your fic more for tim than jason but if I had to give a Tim and Jason hc it would have to be that when tim’s forgiven jason he invites jason to the Drake hidden library and gives it to him (eventually jason redeems reading for him but before jason it was what his parents were always neglecting him for) :D happy to see you!!!
Oh thank you for sending me this awesome ask! I’ve been off tumblr a while so I didn’t see it, but it made me so happy. I still haven’t read any comics but Red Robin is on my list, I just need to find it first. Also I love your headcanon. It works so well for the two of them and I’m so glad that you were happy to see me :DDDD

I should post more on here. What are my followers Tim and Jason (platonic) headcanons? My favorite is that they met before Jason died and that Tim was always inspired by Jason alone 🥰🥰🥰

Tea is nice and all for Tim, but you know what he should be addicted to white rice. I mean he’s Asian-coded so it fits.

My #1 post of 2022
Okay I know coffee is Tim’s thing and bread is Jason’s but I think together their thing should be soup. It would be just so cool. It shows how good a cook Jason is and how he much he takes care of Tim  😍

You Surprise him with Breakfast
batboys headcanons
~
(A/N): I'm still stuck in another fandom, so I haven't been motivated to write DC content as of the moment, but I've been posting what I do have done so far. Thank you so much for the love recently; I am so grateful for every like and reblog.
~
Dick Grayson:
He’s no cook, so you often make him a quick breakfast as you make yours in the morning
But this time, it was a surprise after he finally closed a case he’d been working on for weeks
Since he was out late, and you were already asleep by the time he got back, you knew he’d be sleeping later than usual which gave you time to enact your plans
You quickly made a batch of pancakes, the batter bright blue with food dye because you know it’d make him smile
He came out of your room when you were about ¾ of the way through, hair mussed and in only the sweatpants he slept in, and wrapped his arms around your waist, his head on your chin
He laughed at the blue, just like you hoped he would
Jason Todd:
He’s usually the chef out of the two of you, but this time, you wanted to surprise him
After a week of helping Roy in star city, he returned late at night and crashed before even taking a shower
While he was gone, you’d bought a mini waffle maker and waffle mix (technically it was pancake mix but the box said it could be used for waffles with a couple tweaks so why not) and the night before decided to surprise him with both the waffle maker and the waffles
You heard the shower turn on when you were just pouring the batter for the first waffle in the waffle maker, so by the time he came wandering into the kitchen, you really only had one semi-okay waffle to show for your efforts
He did offer to take over, but you insisted that you finish, and at the end of a half-hour, there were enough edible waffles to fed the both of you
They weren’t half bad if you said so yourself
“So, a waffle maker, huh?”
He couldn't keep the smile off his face.
Tim Drake:
After a week of trying (and failing) to get him to go to bed before he collapsed out of exhaustion, he finally crashed after completing his most recent case and sending it to over to the GCPD
You also may or may not have made him decaffeinated tea meant to help people sleep, and at that point you were pretty sure he was past caring about taste (you were right) so he drank it without a second thought and then passed out
You got up the next morning and resolved to make him something actually substantial for breakfast
In the end, it was just eggs, bacon, toast, coffee, and orange juice, but neither of you are really fantastic at cooking so it worked
You were trying to find a tray to bring the food to him when he wandered down, hair mussed and rubbing at his eyes, looking blindly for a cup of coffee
You’re pretty sure he didn’t even register the rest of the breakfast in front of him until he was halfway through his first cup, judging by the look on his face when you asked him what he thought
Damian Wayne:
He’d been injured recently, so he’d not been able to do as much as he liked, and was therefore frustrated and stuck mostly in his room
For you, it was an opportunity to do something for him, because he couldn't do too much snooping and/or ruin the surprise before you get up and actually do it
You prepped everything the night before, and in the morning got up and preheated the oven, then popped in a tray of the pillsbury ready-to-bake cinnamon rolls (or made them from scratch if you have that kind of talent and patience)
When they were baking, you made a quick fruit salad and grabbed a treat for Titus and put that on a tray with a couple glasses of orange juice
When the cinnamon rolls were done, you plated enough for the both of you and brought him the tray
The surprised look on his face was the best part of your day

Four Plus One
AN: Idk if requests are still open or if I missed my shot but I really love your dc writing, especially for Dick, would you maybe write one of those “4 times he knew he loved you, and the 1 time he said it” type fics?
Requested by: @orahnay
Tumblr media
One:
The first time Dick thinks he loves you, is when he calls to cancel a date. It’s the fourth cancellation in a row, and it’s been two weeks since you’ve seen each other. He sighs before he makes the call. He’s certain that this is going to be the one where you end things. He can’t blame you. He isn’t exactly excelling in the boyfriend department, and you don’t know about the whole superhero thing. He bets you think he’s cheating.
Your voice is cheerful when you pick up, and his stomach sinks because he knows this is the end. “Dick? Is everything okay?”
“I am so sorry.”
“You have to cancel?”
“Yes.” He closes his eyes and waits for it.
“Okay.”
His eyes flash open, “Okay?”
You can hear the laugh on the other end, “Dick, you’re a cop and you have a large family. If you wanted to break things off, you would have stopped calling and texting. Plus, I’ve been so busy with work, a night to myself doesn’t sound half bad. No offense.”
“Can I interest you in breakfast tomorrow morning?”
“Pick me up at 9?”
“Sounds good.”
When he hangs up he looks over at his teammates who are staring at him in shock. It’s Wally who asks, “Where the hell did you find her, and does she have a sister?”
Two:
Dick is certain he loves you around six months into your relationship. Not once have you given him crap over canceling plans or showing up late. He still hasn’t told you he’s Nightwing, even though he’s gotten his family’s blessing. He plans to tell you, he really does, but first he needs to actually introduce you to his family.
He knows they’re strange to outsiders. They bicker and fight, and no one is really sure how or when the weapons will make an appearance, but he knows they will. Still, you’re all smiles as he nervously leads you into the manner. He nearly bangs his head into a wall when the two of you enter and Bruce and his brothers are just standing there dressed in nice clothes, and a smiling Alfred is with them. When they all greet you as one, his eye actually starts to twitch.
You make it through dinner without too much of an incident. Damian draws a knife at one point when Tim makes a crack about him, but Jason is quick to disarm him before you see. The irony. You leave with him that night  and say, “Your family is weird. The good kind, where you can tell they care even though they bicker. It’s nice.”
He kisses you, and vows he’ll never let you go.
Three:
The night Dick tells you he’s Nightwing, he’s a mess. You’ve been together for over a year, and living together for seven months. He tries to cook you dinner, he burns it. Alfred brings a back up, and orders him to not lose you. He puts un slacks, and a button down, and sets the table.
You come home, and when you enter you stop in your tracks. “What’s going on?”
“I have something to tell you.”
Your eyes sweep over the setting and grin, “I was wondering why you were insisting on dinner tonight.”
He blurts it out before he can persuade himself otherwise, “I’m Nightwing.”
You blink several times, “I know.”
His eyes go wide, “You know?”
“Yep.”
His hands go to his hips, “Since when?”
“About three weeks into the relationship. I went over to your place to confront you about all the missed dinners and saw you sneaking out of your window. I put two and two together.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?”
“It was your story to tell.”
And Dick will be damned if he doesn’t swear to himself that he’s going to marry you one day.
Four:
Dick is never more certain of his love for you, as he is the day he marries you. It isn’t a big fanfare. In fact, you’re the only two people there. The world is quite literally going to hell, and he’s about to race towards death. By some miracle, you agree to marry him before he does.
You wear a white sundress, and a pair of heels. It’s so far outside of what you deserve, and he can’t help but think, that if he was a better man . . . he’d let you go. But he’s not that man. So, he says his wedding vows in a pair of jeans and a button down, kisses you and races towards sudden death.
When he comes home two days later, you’re fast asleep. He’s quick to shower, and press a kiss to your hair. He whispers the words to you. Despite being married and having been together for nearly two years he’s never said them to you consciously. He’s declared he can’t live without you, he’s told you you mean more than the world to him, and a hundred other declarations, but he’s never said, “I love you.”
Plus One:
You’re exhausted, covered and sweat and on the verge of falling asleep. Dick can’t blame you. After everything he’s seen and done, he thinks that this might be the most amazing. He looks down at the little blue bundle in his arms: his son. Twenty-hours ago this little guy had been growing inside of you; now he was out in the world. If Dick has his way, he’ll never put the baby down.
He glances at you, you’re smiling at him from the hospital bed.
“You are officially the most amazing person I’ve ever met.”
You grin, “Millions of women have done this before Dick.”
“Yeah, but this time it was you and our baby. We’re parents.”
“Freaky, right?”
Dick laughs, and the baby starts to stir. He’s quick to bounce the baby, and calm him before he can start crying. It’s a prayer in the dark, because he has no idea what he’s doing. You pat the side of the bed, and he moves to sit down next to you.
You lean over and kiss the top of your son’s head. Dick smiles down at you. Your brow furrows, “What?”
“I love you, you know that right?”
You giggle, “It took you three years, a wedding, and a baby to say those words.”
“Y/N . . .”
“I love you too, you dork.”
He leans over and kisses you, and your son starts to cry, Dick leans his head down and kisses his forehead, “And we love you Alfred John Grayson.”

Who's your favorite Green lantern?
This is actually a pretty tough one!
Tumblr media
Alan Scott: Except for him. Nothing wrong with the guy but he’s nothing.
Hal Jordan: The easy answer between what Broome/Kane, Cooke, King/Shaner, and Morrison/Sharp have done with him over the years, he captures the boldness and freewheeling spaciness you want with the concept better than any of the rest of them by leaps and bounds, but his actual pound-for-pound track record is less than stellar, and that last run made a good case for his time being done altogether. If nothing else I think he’s not the best suited to stories about being a superhero/space-soldier of the bunch so much as an adventurer with action as an inevitable component, but he generally only gets to play in that territory around the fringes of more traditional stuff.
Guy Gardner: Perfectly fun, a sensible inclusion (as has been pointed out, if the qualifications are total fearlessness and honesty, of course some of these people are going to be assholes), never gonna be my favorite but happy to have him around.
John Stewart: I finally warmed up to him somewhat rewatching Justice League and JLU as a soldier slowly trying to reacclimate, but he’ll still never be my #1.
Kyle Rayner: Kinda generic, but I’ve got a soft spot for him, especially when I realized he’s basically the DCU’s Sora from Kingdom Hearts, the last champion left standing chosen basically by accident when the intended hero goes batshit, who carries on for this grand legacy and ends up bringing it back. Except while Sora stayed in the game and the driver’s seat in spite of his un-specialness through sheer determination and decency, Rayner was declared THE TORCHBEARER and became the White Lantern and whatnot but never actually mattered again once the others came back except that time he got roped into the Omega Men. I’ll never think he doesn’t have something to offer - Morrison had Daniel declare he’ll surpass Hal Jordan, putting the then-current guy over or not I’m holding DC to that - but he was never all he should have been.
Simon Baz: That origin...woof. I recall liking how Tim Seeley handled him in his run pretty well, but I’ve gotta hope his definitive story hasn’t happened yet.
Jessica Cruz: My favorite concept of the bunch other than Hal, the idea of overcoming fear being completely reframed this way really appeals to me and I’d love to see her blossom with a killer run.
Jo Mullein: The current one to beat, so far we’ve seen her entirely through the lens of Lantern-as-kinda-cop: she’s had about as great a start as possible (though I don’t know how much I have to say until I sit down and reread Far Sector once it’s done), but I fear how well she’ll translate to everything else that comes with the job when other folks are going to have to be entrusted with handling her past this initial story.
Volk, who has a volcano for a head:
Tumblr media
Obviously the winner.

Hi! This is the master list for all the fics i’ve done so far in response to the story prompts you guys sent me before and short ficlets that i’ve done. All of them are tagged #fic and #prompt. Thanks so much for the support you’ve given me all the while and I hope you keep enjoying my work :) I know I still got a ton of prompts in my inbox, and I hope I’ll get the free time I need to keep doing them. (Updated as of 5/20/18)
For the Master list of my non-prompt original longer Damijon fics, click here: Original fics
Love Letters - a damijon fic - A short but really sweet fic prompt I did for my damijon discord friends. Jon keeps getting love letters in his school locker, but he can’t tell who they’re from, and there are a lot of them. Updated to include art from my good friend @jaidenstar !!
Tumblr media
How does the sunshine die? - an incredibly angsty damijon fic -  The third of some angsty fics that I’ve done recently. This was born from a time when I was really inspired to write but the worst prompt i could possibly get in my inbox showed up by way of an anon ask lol. One of the heaviest fics I’ve written, but one that I’m really proud of too. I was just coming off of reading Stephen King’s It, and I still had some inspiration from that wonderful book. Basically...Jon figures out how the sunshine dies.
Tumblr media
“We’re friends, aren’t we?” - a Damijon fic - The second of some angsty fics that I’ve done recently. Jon always asks Damian one particular qustion that Damian could never bring himself to answer directly. This is my response (in the form of a fic) to the rumors that Brian Michael Bendis taking over the Superman comics might result in Jon getting scrapped as a character.
Tumblr media
Superman’s Sword - an angsty damijon fic (sort of) - The first of some angsty fics that I’ve done recently. This was written before Super Sons 14 and Action Comics 1000. A mother tells her child about the story of Superman and why the Superman of their time carries a sword.
Tumblr media
Damijon Week Prompt Day 4 (losing control) “Mid-air hugs are pretty cool”- My Day 4 Submission for DamiJon week. After getting kissed by  Damian, Jon takes Damian with him back to their farm in Hamilton so that they could have the privacy they need to sort through their feelings for each other. WARNING: Heavily Implied NSFW
Tumblr media
Damijon Week Prompt Day 3 (first kiss) “We’re in the closet. Literally.”- My Day 3 Submission for DamiJon week. This was based on the incredible picture that flipityflip made for Day 1 of the week. With her permission, I based my fic on it. Here, Damian and Jon run away from detention and get stuck in a locker together. A really tight one.
Tumblr media
Damijon Week Prompt Day 2 (coming out) “I’m Damian and I do not pine! And yes, I’m just fine!” - My Day 2 Submission for DamiJon week. Here, Jon has been away from school for a mission leaving Damian alone. Damian bumps into Maya, and the two have a heart to heart talk about Damian’s not-so-secret secret.
Tumblr media
Damijon Week Prompt Day 1 (middleschool AU) “Slice of life? Very poor choice of words…” - My Day 1 Submission for DamiJon week. Here, Jon and Damian are classmates in middleschool and Damian is having a lot of trouble adjusting. Jon tries to comfort him the only way he knows.
Tumblr media
Picture Prompt: Hunted by the Son of Night - This short fic is a Jon Vampire Hunter/ Damian Vampire AU that was inspired by artwork from dsasworld. My friend and I on our discord group loved the pic and I was so inspired to write a fic for it, with the artist’s permission. Here, Vampire Hunter Jon is meeting Vampire Damian for a very clandestine and fateful reason.
Tumblr media
Picture Prompt: You’re safe in my arms - This is the ficlet I made to accompany my pic commission from laizy-boy. This is based on the Super Sons of Tomorrow crossover arc (Teen Titans #15), where Damian rescues Jon after the latter exploded and fell into San Fran bay.
Tumblr media
Prompt: Dark Future’s End - I wrote this before the Super sons of tomorrow arc, but inspired by the idea of it.  So an anon asked me if Damian would take the initiative and kiss Jon first. My answer to that is…yea, basically. He totally would. I was motivated to turn that into a cute little story but things got crazy and I somehow ended up with an overly dramatic end-of-the-world scenario.
Tumblr media
Prompt: Will I grow up a villain? - An anon asked me to make a story about Damian and Jon playing a game. I chose Injustice 2. At the time, discourse was flaring up about DC giving Damian really bleak futures as an adult. This is my response to that since, in Injustice, Damian turned evil.
Tumblr media
Prompt: Baking with the Super Sons -  So a friend of mine gave me a quick story prompt about Damian and Jon just cooking together like in a romcom.
Tumblr media
Prompt: Who has the best Superboy? - Damian and Tim argue over who has the better super BFF.
Tumblr media
Prompt: What if Injustice Damian attacked the main timeline Damian and Bat Family? - I was asked what would happen if Injustice Damian, the grown up one who utterly betrayed Batman, came into the main DC universe and saw that his younger self was loved and adored by his family, and had a best friend in Jon. Long story short, Injustice Damian doesn’t take it very well.
Tumblr media
Not exactly a prompt: What if Jon was in injustice? - This isn’t really a story, but an anon asked me what if Jon was in Injustice, and this was my long reply to that. I also couldn’t help but write a tiny little ficlet at the end. This ask informs the injustice prompt i got above.
Tumblr media
Prompt: You don’t own this secret spot! - A prompt where Tim and Kon are flying to their secret date spot, except they find that Damian and Jon had beaten them there.
Tumblr media
Prompt: Babysitting the Super Brats - Tim and Kon just wanted some alone time, but they get saddled with the responsibility of looking after their youngest siblings.
Tumblr media
Prompt: I can’t protect you! - Originally a prompt where Jon doesn't want Damian to go on a dangerous mission because he’s at risk of getting killed. I turned it into an end of the world scenario, because of course I did :p Written in Jon’s POV.
Tumblr media
Prompt: Dick’s Robin outfit does not fit Jon - Because Jon lost a dare with Damian, he now has to wear Dick Grayson’s original Robin gear. Yep, underwear and all.
Tumblr media
Prompt: Maya’s Surprise - Supposedly part of a 5+1 thingie where people walk in on Damian and Jon kissing. It’s Maya’s turn, and well, she gets way more than she bargained for. This actually a censored version lol. The slightly more graphic version is on my ao3.
Tumblr media
Prompt: Damian’s death anniversary - Jon accompanies Damian as the latter remembers the day he died. This prompt was really hard to write, because of all the emotion that Damian would have had to deal with.
Tumblr media
Prompt: A TimKon Damijon double date - Damian and Jon are forced to go on a double date with Tim and Kon. They go eat dinner and then play laser tag, with a bet that the loser has to do what the winner wants.
Tumblr media
Prompt: Super Puppy Love Epilogue: Why there’s a naked Damian in Jon’s bed - this was originally a story prompt but in the end I turned it into the epilogue of one of my better fics, which you can find over here:   (Super Puppy Love:   Damian finds out Jon has a crush on him and decides to have fun with it.)
Tumblr media
Prompt: Board games with the Super Sons and the Bat Bros - Damian and Jon join the older Wayne boys for some games. What they don’t know is that the Bat Boys have already guessed just how much the two of them feel for each other.
Tumblr media
Prompt: Everybody walks in on Damian and Jon making out - My first-ever prompt! Apparently, a 5+1 thingie where various people walk in on Damian and Jon snogging each other in some way :p

How Many Black Republicans In Congress
Tumblr media
Fact Check: Were The First 23 Black Members Of Congress Republicans
GOP lawmaker has message for Congressional Black Caucus shutting him out
A post about the political affiliation of the first Black members of Congress has spread on social media.
The Claim
A widely shared post on social media said that the first 23 Black members of Congress were all Republicans.
Alongside an archival image of early Black members of Congress, it said, in capital letters: “History that is never taught.
“The first 23 Black congressman were all Republicans.”
A post of this image was shared on September 5 and has more than 9,000 likes and more than 4,000 retweets at the time of writing.
CrowGuy61 #AnatomyOfViolence
The Facts
Newsweek contacted Historian of the House of Representatives Matthew Wasniewski to ask about the claim.
He confirmed that the first 23 Black members of Congress had been Republicans,
“The figure of 23 is in fact correct,” he said. “It includes 22 Black Members of Congress during Reconstruction and the late 19th century all from reconstructed southern states, and all Republican.
“After the last of those 22 individuals left the House in 1901 , there was a three-decade gap where no African American served in either chamber because of the rise of Jim Crow and the denial of voting rights.
“In 1928, Oscar De Priest of Illinois, who represented a Chicago-centered district, became the first Black American elected from a northern state. He was a Republican and his rise in Illinois politics reflected the effects of the Great Migration.
“De Priest was the 23rd African American to serve in Congress.”
The Ruling
House Votes To Condemn Trump’s ‘racist Comments’
Hurd has taken vocal stances against Trump in other instances, too. Last year in a New York Times op-ed, Hurd who had been an undercover CIA officer for almost 10 years before being elected to Congress asserted that Trump was being manipulated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“The president’s failure to defend the United States intelligence community’s unanimous conclusions of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and condemn Russian covert counterinfluence campaigns and his standing idle on the world stage while a Russian dictator spouted lies confused many but should concern all Americans,” Hurd wrote. “By playing into Vladimir Putin’s hands, the leader of the free world actively participated in a Russian disinformation campaign that legitimized Russian denial and weakened the credibility of the United States to both our friends and foes abroad.”
Tim Scott Only Black Gop Senator Set To Respond To Biden
WASHINGTON Tim Scott, the only Black Republican senator, is often happy to dart past Capitol Hill reporters without saying much. This time, he and the spotlight have found each other.
Brought up by a single mother who worked backbreaking hours as a nursing assistant, the 55-year-old Scott has spent a decade in Congress representing South Carolina. Now, the lawmaker who combines a willingness to address racial questions with an advocacy of vintage conservative themes such as opportunity and optimism is giving his partys nationally televised response to President Joe Bidens Wednesday night address to Congress.
Scott also is the lead GOP negotiator as the two parties seek an accord on legislation overhauling police procedures. The issue has long eluded compromise despite national attention fanned by last years killing of George Floyd, a Black man, and this months conviction of a former Minneapolis police officer in his slaying.
You figure out who your audience is, you figure out what you want to say and you try and find a way to say it well, Scott told reporters Tuesday about his speech preparations. And you lean into who you are.
GOP leaders choíce of Scott to answer Biden comes at a tense political moment.
Scott, from North Charleston, South Carolina, nearly dropped out of high school. He tells of a life-changing turnabout after befriending a businessman who became a mentor and stressed the value of hard work.

Congressional Black Caucus Pac
The Congressional Black Caucus PAC is a political action committee founded as a political arm of the caucus, aiming “to increase the number of Black Members of the US Congress…support Non-Black Candidates who will champion the needs and interests of the Black Community” and increase the “participation of Black Americans in the political process”.Gregory Meeks chairs the PAC. The CBCPAC is known for its moderate-lean. The PAC caused controversy when it backed incumbent Michael Capuano, a white man, over challenger Ayanna Pressley, a black woman who ultimately defeated him. Two years later, it backed Eliot Engel, a white incumbent, over Jamaal Bowman, a black challenger who went on to defeated him.
HuffPost reporters questioned how endorsements were made, noting that the executive board included corporate lobbyists over CBC members. Representative Brenda Lawrence criticized the PAC’s endorsement policies in 2020 and called for it to be reevaluated.Color of Change, a civil rights advocacy nonprofit group, released a letter in 2016 calling on the CBCPAC to cut ties with lobbyists from industries that are “notorious for the mistreatment and exploitation of Black people” including private prisons, pharmaceutical companies, student loan creditors, and big tobacco.
Changes To House Rules
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Democrats took control of the House in the 116th Congress, they voted to change some rules from the previous session of Congress when Republicans were in control. Some of the changes appear below.
PAYGO: Democrats approved PAYGO, a provision that requires legislation that would increase the deficit to be offset by spending cuts or revenue increases.
Ethics: Democrats made changes to House ethics rules that required all House members to take ethics training, not just new members. The rules also required members to reimburse taxpayers for settlements that that result from a members discrimination of someone based on race, religion, sex, national origin, or disability, among other things. Lawmakers were also prohibited from sitting on corporate boards.
Climate change committee: Democrats created a new climate change committee to address the issue. The committee was not given subpoena power or the ability to bring bills to the floor.
A full explanation of the rules changes can be viewed here.

Hurd was also one of just four House Republicans who voted for a resolution to condemn Trump’s racist tweets last month attacking four freshman Democratic women of color. His positions and willingness to speak out against Trump made sense, given the political and demographic makeup of his district. The 23rd District is almost 70% Latino, and Hillary Clinton won it by about 3.5 percentage points in 2016. Last year’s midterm elections left Hurd as one of just three House Republicans to sit in a district carried by Clinton, not Trump.
But Hurd only barely survived in 2018 to win reelection by just 926 votes over Democrat Gina Ortiz Jones, an Air Force veteran who had already announced she was seeking a rematch in 2020. Without Hurd, who was seen by Republicans and Democrats alike as an unusually strong GOP incumbent, the Cook Political Report has moved its rating for this seat from Toss Up to Lean Democratic.

The caucus is officially non-partisan; but, in practice, the vast majority of African Americans elected to Congress since the CBC’s founding have been Democrats. Ten African American Republicans have been elected to Congress since the caucus was founded in 1971: Senator Edward Brooke of Massachusetts , DelegateMelvin H. Evans of the Virgin Islands , Representative Gary Franks of Connecticut , Representative J. C. Watts of Oklahoma , Representative Allen West of Florida , Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina , Representative Will Hurd of Texas , Representative Mia Love of Utah , Representative of Florida , and Representative Burgess Owens of Utah . Of these ten, only Evans, Franks, West, and Love joined the CBC; currently, the caucus includes no Republicans, although Byron Donalds has applied to join the CBC.
Edward Brooke was the only serving African American U.S. senator when the CBC was founded in 1971, but he never joined the group and often clashed with its leaders. In 1979 Melvin H. Evans, a non-voting delegate from the Virgin Islands, became the first Republican member in the group’s history. Gary Franks was the first Republican voting congressman to join in 1991, though he was at times excluded from CBC strategy sessions, skipped meetings, and threatened to quit the caucus.

John James Loses To Debbie Stabenow
John James is a former U.S. Air Force pilot turned Michigan businessman who was endorsed by President Donald Trump on July 27.
But the political hill was too steep to climb for James who lost to Democratic incumbent Sen. Debbie Stabenow by 5.4 points with 51.9% of votes going to Stabenow and 46.1% going to James, according to the New York Times.
Polls showed James was a long shot to defeat Stabenow, who has served Michigan in the U.S. Senate since 2000 in a state that Trump narrowly won during his 2016 White House run.
Trumpâs endorsement of James may have inadvertently hurt the West Point grad in a state where the presidentâs approval rating among likely voters was just 37% in September, according to the Detroit News.

Her conservative values didnât win over many people in New Yorkâs 13th District, where retired U.S. lawmaker Charles Rangel served for 46 years. Espaillat has served the 13th District, which includes Manhattanâs Harlem and Washington Heights neighborhoods, since defeating Rangelâs handpicked successor Keith Wright in 2016. The district hasnât elected a Republican since at least 1971.
An Incoming Class Of History
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Several of the newly elected state representatives are making history.;
The Republican Madison Cawthorn, 25, who beat the Democrat Moe Davis to represent North Carolinas 11th Congressional District, will become the youngest member of Congress in modern history.
The Democrat Cori Bush is set to become the first Black congresswoman from Missouri after winning in the states 1st Congressional District.
The Democrats Mondaire Jones and Ritchie Torres will also be the first openly gay Black men to serve in Congress, after winning in New Yorks 17th and 15th districts respectively.
And nine out of the eleven Republicans who have so far unseated incumbent Democrats are women wins that will drastically expand the representation of women and especially of women of color in the House Republican caucus.
Currently, there are just 13 voting female Republican representatives in the House and 11 female Republican incumbents who ran for reelection in 2020.

Columbia University and Howard University grad Liz Matory is a small-business owner and a writer. Sheâs also a former Democrat who ran her latest campaign as a pro-Trump reformer and a âborn-again Republicanâ saying she wanted to help the populist president âdrain the swamp.â
In 2014, Matory ran to represent Montgomery County in the Maryland House of Delegates as a Democrat, but she came in last place, according to the Baltimore Post-Examiner. A year later she switched parties after serving as a field organizer for failed Democratic gubernatorial candidate Anthony Brown, who lost his bid against Republican Larry Hogan, the stateâs current governor.

Infinite Frontier and the Infinite Possibilities of the DC Universe
https://ift.tt/2ZqaA8u
Joshua Williamson has had his hands in just about every big DC story for the last five years. One of the longest-tenured Flash writers ever, Williamson has by necessity been in the middle of every time the DC multiverse tried to burst back into canon over the last five years. After all, you can’t have a Crisis without a Flash beat or three.
But now, Williamson is getting the keys to the bus. Infinite Frontier #0 kicks off the post-Metal, post-Future State new status quo for the DC Universe in March. That status quo builds off of DC’s new multiversal mantra: everything happened and anything is possible. We had a chance to talk with him about what that means on both ends – what the new DCU is growing out of, and what’s coming in the future.
This interview has been lightly edited for clarity.
Den of Geek: Give me an elevator pitch Infinite Frontier coming out of Future State.
Joshua Williamson: What we’re doing is we’re taking all of these things that we love about the DCU and everything that happened through Death Metal and everything that’s happening with Future State. And we’re just taking everything that we love with the DCU. We’re just moving it forward, with the Infinite Frontier Special, Wonder Woman and The Spectre go on this journey where they explore this new DCU [and what] the DCU looks like after things like Death Metal and Future State. One of the themes of Infinite Frontier is anything is possible.
You’re getting to play with all the toys now. What are your touchstone DC runs? When you think about the DC multiverse and all of the enormous, insane glory, what are the first stories that you think of? What are the trades that you give to people?
Oh man, that’s a tough question. I feel like I would definitely give them Grant [Morrison]’s JLA, I think the stuff that they did on that series was really powerful. And especially once you get to “Rock of Ages” or Mark Waid’s “Tower of Babel” from that same era. [Morrison and Howard Porter’s] JLA #1 is a really important comic for the DC Universe. I think it’s a moment where things started to turn a little into a new era.
I definitely would give people Mark Waid’s Flash stuff. I think you can’t go wrong with Dark Knight Returns or Batman: Year One. [Darwyn Cooke’s] New Frontier is one of the best examples of what DC can be….I think you could also give them Long Halloween. There’s so much stuff you can give them.
I’m always partial to giving things like Knightfall, Death of Superman, just because of how old I am, I think. Those stories were so big when I was coming into the DCU. Kingdom Come is really good and obviously, you get around to things like Crisis on Infinite Earths and Infinite Crisis. I think that build up to Infinite Crisis, when you get to Countdown To Infinite Crisis, plus all the minis and 52 that’s one of my favorite eras of DC, is that block of time.
That Death & Return of Superman era was nuts with how many talented creators were working at the top of their games.
And they were doing that triangle number thing where Superman was a weekly book for a long time and all that stuff was really strong. I still think about that stuff. I actually got to work with Dan Jurgens recently on a few different things. I was originally one of the creators working on Generations. And…he did the cover for Infinite Frontier #0.
So when he was working on that cover, I sent him a bunch of different ideas of what I was looking for and thinking a lot about.  We were talking a lot about New Frontier and…the positivity and the fun of DC…and it’s like, well, this is the next step of the DCU, right? We’re definitely moving forward. It’s a new era in many different ways and so we wanted to find ways of showcasing that. There are new characters, so there’s new characters on that cover. Dan had questions about them and he was texting me and then he just called me and we started just talking about Infinite Frontier and history stuff about DC and his time working on Justice League and his time doing Superman.
And in the back of his office, he has a piece of art from Reign of the Supermen from the later issues. I think it’s Superman #81, it might be a little bit later, but you know that one that has the green floral cover and it has Superman in the black costume, he’s charging forward [editor’s note: it is Superman #81 and Williamson pulled this from memory]. He has that in his office. It’s so cool to see it, and just to be able to talk to him about it.

Superman & Lois: Behind the Scenes of The New DC TV Show
By Mike Cecchini
When it comes to DC there’s so many different great eras. I look at it as these big blocks. You can break them up by decades. I think part of the motivation behind Infinite Frontier is we saw an opportunity to draw a line in the sand and be like, this is the new era. This is the step moving forward and everything before this mattered, everything counted, all those things you love happened and mattered. So now we want to be able to move forward and just take all that stuff, take all those things we love, all those stories we love and say they happened and now let’s go, let’s get the ground running and go with it.
I’m a continuity junkie. And sometimes I’ve had editors call me out and they’ll be like, “Why are you referencing? What is this you’re referencing?” And I’m like, “Oh, that’s from this comic book from 1997.” And they’re like, “Oh, well, did that happen? Did that happen?” This would come up sometimes during Rebirth where they’ll be like, “Well, did that happen post Flashpoint?” And I’m like, “It did now. Let’s figure out how to make it work.” I think that’s part of the approach now. I think there’s a freedom to reference what you want.
But at the same time, it can’t be all about all these things that happened in the past and just trying to relive it or try to re-glorify it or whatever, you have to tell new stuff. I think one of the most exciting parts about Future State has been seeing its progress, seeing where it started and where it is now, but seeing the response to it. It was really awesome to watch how people are excited about new characters, new looks, new stories, just new stuff. I think right now the DCU is becoming an unpredictable place…not just in terms of the characters, but I think in terms of readers, I think there’s things that you’re going to see that you’re you’re going to be surprised by.
Don’t get me wrong, we’re definitely going to reference the past. I think if somebody is reading Infinite Frontier or the other books that I’m working on for DC in the next year, I’m definitely going to pull things from the past, especially things that I think we’re still missing that I want to bring back in. But that all being said, it’s taking those things and saying, “Okay, how do I tell a new story with it? how do I move those things forward?”
Future State Justice League is explicitly about legacy heroes in a way that the DC Universe hasn’t really been since the mid 2000s…I assume that we can take that as a hint about what’s to come from you from Infinite Frontier and from your future in the DCU.
When I started reading comics as a kid, I was a casual reader. But when I was able to get on my bike and ride to the comic store and grab the books, the DCU was a different place. I started reading Green Lantern at issue 45 because it crossed over to Superman. 46 is a Green Lantern/Green Arrow crossover and then those issues, like 48, 49 and 50 are Emerald Twilight with Hal going crazy and then issue 51, introduces Kyle Rayner.
So you have Kyle Rayner as Green Lantern and Wally West as Flash and Bart Allen was introduced and there’s a new Robin with Tim Drake and Jean-Paul Valley was Batman for a hot second. And there were four Supermen. All of these big changes, all these new elements were introduced.
I think for readers, it’s important to introduce those new things, because then you can take ownership over it. [As a reader]I have a Green Lantern that was introduced and I got to see the world of Green Lantern through his eyes..
You use that new stuff as a vehicle to reintroduce all this huge mythology that’s out there. So I was very excited about that idea of introducing new things. And so that’s why when we started talking about my particular involvement with Justice League and Future State, I wanted it to be just all new characters.
Jon [Kent] was a no-brainer as Superman.  I was so excited to get Jo [Mullein, the Green Lantern from one of the best GL books ever, Far Sector]. I wasn’t sure I was going to get Jo for a minute. I kept asking about it and we kept talking about it, but that was one of the ones I really wanted, was Jo and then they gave me Jo.
I’ve written a lot of Flash, so it was important to me to do a Flash I had never written before. And so they presented options to me and one of them was Jess [Chambers, the Earth-11 Flash who is part of the Future State Justice League that Williamson wrote]. And we started talking about how Jess was from the multiverse and what character they were. You can look at how Future State Justice League is and how it is very much about the new, but I’m also using elements of the past and using these classic elements or things that I personally love like the Hyperclan or little hints of things through the Hall of Justice.
And, I like teasing stuff. I love teasing things. I love putting little hints of stories to come throughout books because … When I was younger, I would reread stuff a lot. I would reread Death of Superman and there were times I would find things that I hadn’t picked up on before. If you go and you look at something like so much of Geoff Johns’ stuff in The Flash or JSA and how much he was able to take things that were older, these little seeds of story.
Grant Morrison loves to put ideas on the table that someone else can pick up. I also want to do that. [Now that] both issues of Future State Justice League are out, you can see a couple more seeds of things that are coming.
There is a moment where the Spectre and Wonder Woman, they do talk about Future State at the beginning of Infinite Frontier #0. They talk about what she saw, because she sees Future State. And so it’s this idea of what does she actually see and does all that mean it’s just coming to pass and the Spectre, he is like, “It depends.” You’ll see when we get there.
But there is a conversation about what those futures are. I think once you read Infinite Frontier #0, you’re going to see a lot of elements of things that I personally like and wanted to bring in and then there’s some stuff about moving the ball forward. I think that’s what’s really exciting about all the other chapters in Infinite Frontier, because it’s like a lot of what I’m doing is overall the structure in Infinite Frontier, trying to get these balls to move forward but also put things on the table for the next year for the DCU. There are a lot of other chapters in there that are written by other creators that really are a lot about the new, like Tim Sheridan has story about Teen Titans that’s about the new kids coming into Teen Titans Academy. You have Geoffrey Thorne and Dexter Soy doing a story about the Green Lanterns that is awesome. It’s really exciting to see some of this stuff.
I think people always want all the answers laid out on the table immediately.
When Death Metal was over, I think people really wanted us to release a spreadsheet of, well, here are the rules, this is the thing, this is what happened but I think the characters don’t even know that. They’re still figuring stuff out. That’s part of why the Totality was created at the end of Death Metal. It’s infinite possibilities and now we have to explore what this means. And that’s part of what we’re going to be doing with DCU…What does infinite possibilities in an infinite multiverse? What does that even mean? How does that impact it?

And then, at the end of Death Metal, The Presence, The Hands on the other side of the wall, they told Wonder Woman there was a cost there, there was a cost of doing what they were doing and she thought that that was her death, but it was like, no, you’re ascending. There’s something else and, if you get infinite possibilities, that sounds terrific. Right? But there’s a part where Spectre and Wonder Woman are talking about it and he’s like, “Yeah, infinite wonder.” And she’s like, “Yeah but infinite terror. That means there could be something bad out there too.” And she’s aware of this cost and she’s trying to find out what that cost is in Infinite Frontier #0, she’s trying to figure out what it was.
We’re putting all these questions on the table and we’re going to let those answers come or organically again. I think you’ll see when you get to Infinite Frontier #0, is we’re going to answer some questions. But then we’re also going to put some new ones on the table that are going to take a little bit to answer.
It’s almost more fun when you hear the writer asking the question at the same time that you are, right?
Yeah.
Like, this is something we’re supposed to be concerned about, this is something that we’ve got to watch further, right?
Yeah. We’re all in this together. Just have fun with it.
You’re working with John Timms and John Romita Jr. on the bookend chapters.
Yeah. I’m also working with Howard Porter and Alex Maleev. So I have four chapters, it’s John Timms, Alex Maleev, Howard Porter and then yeah, John Romita.
Those are four very different styles and I know you’ve worked with Porter a bunch on Flash. He’s a Flash legend, Justice League legend. But what’s it like switching gears in your head, especially in the same book, going between those four dramatically different styles, are you bringing anything back and forth between the four different artists like, “Oh, JR Jr. did this or Timms did this and it was cool as hell.” Or are you just throwing up your hands and saying, “You guys are pros, do your thing.”
No, no. I wrote for them. For Alex Maleev I was very specific about which scene I want him to do, which characters I want him to draw and so I wrote it for him, I’m a big fan of his Daredevil run with [Brian Michael] Bendis and so I wrote it for him. I very much wrote a scene that I thought would lean into him, that I knew he would excel at, with a character but I think, I just knew, like you know that guy is going to draw that character. It’s going to be cool.
Howard draws the Flash part. I definitely in the script was like, “Howard you know what’s up. I don’t have to get deep into who these characters are, you know what’s going on.” But it’s a big moment for the Flash family and I wanted Howard to be the one to draw it and he was very excited about that and he totally knocked it out of the park.
John Timms and I have talked about working with each other for years. We knew each other back when he had just started working at DC, on Harley Quinn, we were talking. So I’ve known him and I’ve seen him grow as this artist and I think that the stuff he’s doing on Infinite Frontier is his best work to date. It looks amazing and he draws some of the bigger moments in the issue. There’s some really cool, big stuff that he does in it.
And then with John Romita Jr. I mean, come on that dude is a legend. I mean, that guy, he and I have had conversations over the last five years and he’s definitely been on the bucket list of creators I wanted to work with and so he became the option. I was like, “Oh, he has to do the epilogue.” And what was crazy, I found out as we were getting it ready and I was writing the script for him. One of the big characters that’s in the epilogue, he had never drawn before and I was surprised by that. I couldn’t find it anywhere. And so he actually called me when he was working on it so we could talk out some stuff on it, but I wrote it for him. I knew what he wants as an artist, what he looks for, when he was doing Daredevil: Man Without Fear [with Frank Miller], that was a five page script and he turned it into six issues.
He is a legend and he’s a great story teller. For him, I wrote it in a style that I knew he liked. And when those pages came in, he really nails it and he gets what we wanted from that ending.
It was awesome working with all these different artists [with] everything else coming through. It was just so great. Jorge Jimenez did the Batman pages with James [Tynion IV]. Those are so cool. And then, James also did a story about Alan Scott, he did the Alan Scott chapter and that was drawn by Stephen Byrne and every time the pages came in, you were just like, “Oh this is so cool.” A lot of it looks really good. Bendis’ pages [with David] Marquez look really great.
Todd Nauck is a friend of mine and I really liked when he was doing Young Justice back in the day. He hasn’t really worked at DC in a long time and so he comes in doing this four-pager with Geoff Johns for Stargirl and it just looks so cool. It’s an interesting book full of a lot of really creative, talented people and I’m excited to share it with people.
Now that everything counts again, what piece of continuity are you most excited to put back into the puzzle?
Oh, I can’t tell you that. [laughs] There’s a bunch. I’m sneaking them all in.
Everything? Is there a piece of continuity that you thought of initially and you said, “No, I can’t possibly do that.”
Not yet. Everything could be used as a tool. I mean, listen, there are elements of stories that I personally would not be a fan of that I might not go for but that isn’t to say that they are bad. There’s just not things that I’m personally interested in, but there’s so much stuff that I am interested in, that’s where I focus. All of the stuff that I want to bring in, characters that are missing, things like that, that haven’t been used in a while. I am a greedy person when it comes to that, I am trying to grab all of them and it’s important to me to bring all this cool stuff back in. Yeah.
Now I know [an ongoing Robin series with art by Gleb Melinkov] is what’s immediately next coming out of this but is there something else coming out of Infinite Frontier #0, in the DC Universe that you can share yet? Or not yet?
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Not yet. I think once Infinite Frontier #0 comes out, it’ll be really obvious.
Infinite Frontier #0 hits on March 2.

Big Rumors
4chan has been causing some noise with big rumors of big changes coming to DC. I’ve decided to take a look at what they’re saying and share my opinion.
1)      Dark Days is the mysterious “Metal” event Scott Snyder has been teasing he’ll do with Greg Capulo. It will bring characters from alternate Universes to Prime DC Earth, some of which will try to take it over. Some of them will stick around after the event and be featured in books from September, when every title will get a one-shot setting up new status quo after one year time skip. – Pretty standard, I could buy this one.
2)      One of the characters that stick around will be Superboy Prime, whom Clark will try to redeem on the pages of Superman. – Risky move since it’s Prime but I could totally see Superman try to redeem him.
3)      We will see the return of JSA with Power Girl, Jay Garrick, Red Tornado, Alan Scott and Johnny Thunder, in a new book by Dan Abnett – Will those be Earth-2 characters back to the Prime Earth or Pre-Flashpoint versions?
4)      Another character from another Universe to stick around will be Mar’I Grayson, daughter of Dick and Kory. Nightwing will have to search for her in his own book. – I could see it. If this and 14 will be true, I want them to cross over.
5)      Another will be Bart Allen, who will be featured as Impulse alongside Jesse Quick, Max Mercury and older Wally West in Speed Force by Brett Booth and writing and art – Hell yes Bart is back. And since people wanted a team of speedsters – yeah, I can see this too.
6)      Red Robin will escape from Mr. Oz’ captivity and free several other inmates, leading them as the new Outsiders – They kept Tim quite a bit away, he really could return. Hope Conner and few other forgotten characters will be on this team.
7)      Cyborg will be canceled but replaced with a team-up book (mini?) between him and Shazam, by John Semper. Hal Jordan and Green Lantern Corps will be relaunched as Green Lantern Corps with Hal still leading, but Kyle dying in Dark Days and John and Soranik going to Cullen Bunn’s to Yellow Lanterns.  Don’t worry, Green Lanterns will still be going and keep its creative team, but will go monthly. – Don’t know about the others but I could see Green Lanterns turning monthly. I’ll be mad if they’ll kill Kyle.
8)      Other canceled titles are Superwoman and Blue Beetle with Jaime joining Teen Titans. Red Hood and the Outlaws as well, with Artemis and Bizarro returning to Wonder Woman and Action Comics and Jason getting a solo series by Lobdell. – Totally could see Blue Beetle canceled and Jaime joining Teen Titans and we already have rumors about Superwoman ending. But I thought people liked new Outlaws.
9)      Due to poor sales both Batgirl and Batgirl & the Birds of Prey will be canceled, Barbara will make heroic sacrifice putting her back into a wheelchair. The books will be relaunched as Birds of Prey, where Oracle, Huntress and Black Canary are joined by Lady Blackhawk and Batgirls by Genevieve Valentine, where Barbara trains Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown as her successors. – And this one I cannot buy. DC was so adamant to keep Barbara as Batgirl I find it now hard to believe they would give in and make her Oracle again. And Babs training Steph and Cass written by Genevieve Valentine sounds too good to be true.
10)   Which of course means Cass is leaving Detective Comics. So is Clayface and the post-Dark Days roster will keep Batman, Batwoman, Batwing, and Azrael and add Duke Thomas, Harper Row and Anarky. – Happy to see Luke and Duke in one team since I wanted that and Harper and Kate could result in them showing up on another ball in tuxedos to pick up ladies, so I both could see this happen and would welcome them as additions to the team.
11)   Other new books announced are Legion by James Tynion, Checkmate by Tom King and World’s Fines by Tim Seeley, where every issue features a team-up between different members of Batfamily and Superfamily. – Team up book? Please let it be real, I always liked those.
12)   Batman leading the JLA will be revealed to be Martian Manhunter in disguise. – For what purpose?
13)   More miniseries including 12-parts mini about Crime Syndicate of Earth 3, Justice Incarnate by Peter Thomasi and a completely new Batman Beyond starring Damian who grew up without knowing Bruce and a GCPD cop Sarah Grayson, Dick’s daughter, as his love interest. – Does that mean current Batman Beyond will be canceled?
14)   Slade Wilson will go missing with Rose taking the codename Deathstroke as she tries to find him. – Okay, on the one hand, Deathstroke editor recently teased a bold new direction (still by Priest) but on the other, it was something I once cooked up and proposed on this blog, even got in an argument whenever it would be a good decision with @rosewilsontheravager . It could be something they put for people like me to go nuts....
