6月半ばにリリースされて以来、ほぼ毎日のように聴き続けているミシェル・ンデゲオチェロのニューアルバム『The Omnichord Real Book』

グラミー賞に10度ノミネートされたマルチ・ミュージシャンである彼女が、自己表現をテーマとしたレーベル［BLUE NOTE］移籍後はじめて発表した18曲73分の意欲作

聴けばわかるけれど彼女が送り出したこの作品は、ソング・ライティング、音楽性、リリック、そしてサウンドスケープ・デザインのすべてにわたり、まるで別の世界線に生きる音楽家が生み出したかのような“新しさ”と“創造性”に満ちている

と同時に、エッジの効いた最先端の音楽でありながらとても優しくまろやかで、聴く人のこころの奥深くにまで届き、感情を揺さぶる

このあらゆる音楽のジャンルの枠を超えた新しい音楽体験は、スワヒリ語で「鳥のように自由に」（ンデゲオチェロの意味）という精神を持ち得た彼女でなければ作れなかったものだし、30年のキャリアの中での最高傑作のような気がする

People always ask me about this photo. I met @harpista in 2008. We have done a few shoots together. First off, I was fascinated by the harp. Its massive and gold. And delicate and the weirdest shape. Brandee is the only harp player I know. I went to her parents house in Long Island and their living room IS THREE HARPS. There is no room for anything else. I think the harps didn’t fit into Brandee’s apartment. @melanieharrismakeuphair was on hand to make her shine. The gold dress was Brandee’s. We brought her favorite harp out front and that little boy walked by with his mom on the way to football practice. They were neighbors and his mom was talking to Brandee’s mom.
