This villain’s home is gaudy.

That was the first thought that came to Izuku’s mind. It wasn’t horrible compared to the other places Izuku’s seen in his years as a reporter. The abundance of mirrors was disturbing though. Although, he was the one breaking into the man’s house- so he couldn’t exactly judge.

Slowly making his way through the house, Izuku found himself wary of every step he took. It was a miracle he didn’t set off any alarms busting into the place. However, that didn’t mean the possibility was nigh. He hadn’t noticed any cameras on the property or anything akin to a security system. It was really was seeming that Izuku would be able to find his way in and out of this place without a hitch.

Aoyama Yuuga, a villain known as The Starry Knight to the public, was a notorious thief, his family having ties with the likes of All For One- which made catching him difficult to man experiencedThe man on his own had committed hundreds of heists that resulted in millions of dollars being lost to the wind.

It was amazing to Izuku. He just wanted to know more about him. Sure it was creepy, but how else was Izuku going to find out more about him?

There was definitely an easier way

Izuku made his way through the house. Photographing all the stolen goods, and writing down all the details of this apartment. Each room was just more intriguing than the last.

Making his way to the last room, Izuku found himself gawking at the mirror inside. The gold frame was lined with silver ornate detailing. Priceless gemstones of different sizes, shapes, and colors glittered in the dark room. Izuku didn’t want to risk turning on the lights to get a better look at the mirror.

“This….This is literally priceless.” Izuku whispered to himself.

“I know Mon Cherie that’s why I stole it.” A voice cooed behind him in the dark room.

Izuku’s heart dropped to his feet as quickly he turned around.

On his wrists were glittering bracelets and a shining watch. He wore Khaki Slacks and Black fitted turtle necked did nothing to hide the huge laser belt that sat on his hips. Izuku would call him fashionable if that wasn’t a surefire way to get himself killed. Long blonde hair was brushed into a slick ponytail, and the darkness of the room left Izuku unsure as to what the thief’s nature eye color was. The dark pools still captivated him

“Oh, I am so so so fucked huh.”

“No, I wouldn’t say that yet.”

“If I said I wasn’t a hero would you believe me?”

“Not particularly.”

The belt lowly glittered, and Izuku felt his dinner sitting in the back of his throat.

“I’m really not! I just wanted to know more about you.”

Izuku held his notebook out in front of him. Maybe if he saw he notes he wouldn’t kill him?

Starry Knight all but snatched the notebook, glancing his notes though before grabbing his face.

“I’ve entertained your snooping for far too long. It was comedic at first. However, Mon Cherie, You’re losing my interest, and that’s very dangerous.”

Izuku’s stammers weren’t able to make complete sentences.

“P-Please, Aoyama, I really just wanted to know more about you. Your heists are flawless. Literally no other villain has your flawless streak.”

The villain snickered.

“I was wrong, you’re almost a delight.”

The man stared at Izuku, as if analyzing the features of his own face.

“I guess I could keep you around.” The man muttered.

It's a kiribaku alpha Kiri/omega Bakugou high school fic and it's so nostalgic in a way—all the fumbling messiness of being a teen learning your body and trying to sort out your temper and your goals and romantic relationships (and your homework). Gets kinda smutty towards the end and they are in high school so beware that if that's a squick for you.

fait accompli by roundabout Unfinished (but I have faith). A todobaku alpha/alpha fic where Shouto goes into rut right in the middle of a mission gone wrong, and I just knowwwww when that next chapter gets posted this is gonna be like one of my fave fics of all time. Their todobaku dynamic is literally unparalleled.

tell us about a character who’s very different than you who you love a whole lot

i legit stared at this one for a bit. blorbo? oc?

okay. i asked beef. and he told me to talk about katsuki bakugo.

uh. yeah i guess he's different than me huh. he's such a little brat, but watching him really grow as a character in bnha has been great and like hori better give him back because. he deserves to LIVE.

anyway, uh, idk what else to say about him. i'm kind of terrified of writing him because i'm afraid i won't be able to hit the nuances correctly. he's very beloved, so i want to handle him with care and make sure i do a good job of it.

but then again, when it comes to fic my biggest concern is always characterization LMAO.

when creating characters, what comes first: appearance, backstory, motivation, personality, something else?

......admittedly i don't think about the process that much! it usually starts with a concept. for example, adrien's concept was actually 'harem protagonist' because he's the only guy in my dnd group's main party. and from there i make his backstory and then the personality came last. i think generally my ocs' personality always comes last because i'm kinda like 'well they're like little guys who live in my head' though each of them has something of mine embedded in them.

when it comes to like reader mcs... i read something once that said that reader mcs are the resultant of the plot and world of the fic itself (i think that same thing also went on to say that shipfic is more interesting because you're putting two characters with very distinct personalities together and trying to work with that where as a reader mc is more flexible). and like... i think that's probably true for me too- like i think of the fic's 'concept/plot' and then build around that.

what’s a common writing tip that you almost always follow?

write for yourself. write the stories you want to read. write stories you like because at the end of the day you are the only person who will read every single thing you write (whether you like it or not lmaooo).

I have a bit of info before i get started- Yes, I will do smut, but not super commonly. I refuse to do any sort of incest, pedophilda, S/A, ect. I only do Character x Reader, sorry! hello! thank you for all your fics <3 may i please ask why you no longer write x reader fics? You don't have to answer, I've just been seeing so much negativity and entitlement from anons making writers stop doing what they love, I hope that's not the reason for you.

Ahh, sorry I don't know when this was sent in; I hope you haven't been waiting long. Don't worry, it's nothing negative. I'm really lucky never to have received any hate or been a part of any drama. I've made lovely reader insert friends and it's been a great community to be a part of. I so appreciate your concern, tho. And I'm glad you've enjoyed my stories. <3

Longer answer beneath the cut.

It's kind of a long story, so I'll start off with the tl;dr. Reader insert was always going to be transient for me. I'm a shipper and always have been, and I kind of knew that from the beginning. If you dig reeeeally deep into this blog, you'll see MONTHS of tags where I say "once I find a ship, it's all over here" and "this ship is calling me over, I swear" etc. Tbh, the breadcrumbs have been laid since near the beginning.

I've been reading fic since I was 12, and it was always shipfic. I never liked OC-centered stories, and was only ever drawn to reading and writing canonverse and stuff that felt similar. I don't enjoy deviating from canon. I talk to reader insert friends who have been into fic as long as I have and they talk about making OCs or pairing their faves with characters they could project onto and that was just...never my game. Idk if it's my demisexuality or my lack of imagination, but it's always given me butterflies to read about two characters who I see as really, truly in love. Whereas with reading and writing reader insert, I never cared about reader-chan. Even when I was modeling her exactly after me. I tried to give her depth and make her a good match for her bnha boy, but it was just that. A match to the boy. She was a stand-in, but not for me. For a character that whoever I was writing for would actually love.

I fell into reader insert by accident. I liked Todoroki upon my first watch of the series, and I wanted to read fics with him, but I wasn't jazzed by his ships. I'm usually pretty easy and get into whichever ships are pushed in canon. Like, if they tried harder with IzuOcha, I'd probably be an IzuOcha shipper, lol. But bnha isn't really committed to its, like, 4 or 5 het ships, so I wasn't either. So I clicked around random stories with Shou, stumbled upon reader insert, and I was like eh, that'll do. If there had been a ship I liked, I never would have read a single reader insert fic ever.

And then I got pulled in. Not by reader insert, exactly, but by the community. The blogs, and the friends I started making quickly, which was crazy to me, because I've never been in a fandom as active as this. In other fandoms, I would make a friend or two, but stuff like discord and tumblr friends and groupchats were new. And exciting, especially in the loneliness of covid.

Then I entered a feedback loop. I started reading bkdk as early as November 2020, and I only started reading reader insert in August, writing it in September. But November was also when I joined my first reader insert discord. All my friends were talking about reader insert, and we were all promoting our stories, reading each other's and so my brain kept on being flooded with fic ideas, headcanons, requests. Especially since I was writing all oneshots, mostly nsfw ones which, for me, didn't take a whole lot of effort or time. I started writing for a more (read: the most) popular character, Bakugou, and my fics were becoming popular, in January 2021 I hit 1k followers, I had decent interax, everything was going well.

By this point, I said at least to friends, if not hidden in tags somewhere on this blog, that I was ready to leave reader insert as soon as I had an idea for a bkdk fic. Cold turkey. I was one foot out the door for months before I actually started writing bkdk. But because of that feedback loop, I kept on having reader insert ideas and I wasn't in the same way talking about bkdk, thinking about it, taking the time to try and conjure up a fic idea. I still had wips for reader insert and I wanted to fulfill those promises as well.

Just some discord screenshots with dates, so you can see that the descent is much earlier than you'd think. Plus, past!me says some of this better than I'm managing to here.

The truth is, that I feel nothing towards reader insert now. I kind of want to delete my fics for it all the time because, like, I don't even know who that person was who wrote them. Who was Ana? Not me, and that's why I go by my real name now. I'm not a person who goes through phases, usually. I'm a pretty consistent person, and when I latch onto something, I tend to stick with it for life. Bkdk will be with me for life, I am 100% sure. This was a very strange, out of character blip for me.

And I know that sounds kind of disparaging towards the genre, and I don't mean that at ALL. Reader insert holds so much value as a genre, and it did for me too. You can see from my chat above that it was holding the entirety of my mental health for months. And I'll always value the friends I made. I love that these fics are still enjoyed, so I never will delete them. But I wish that I could fully detach them from myself too. I don't want to give up being able to read the lovely comments and reply back, though. Still, I wish with all my heart that I'd been with bkdk during all that time instead. Bkdk gives me butterflies. It makes me feel warm, makes me feel something like love. Reader insert just doesn't.

There's also a similar story in here about how I got caught in a feedback loop of writing smut too, and I never wanted to be a smut writer. I've written 50 fics or so for bnha, and none of them are my favorites (even the bkdks). My favorite fics, now, are all sfw, shipfic ones I wrote years ago. I don't like that. I want to like my current stuff more. This is why, in addition to retiring from reader insert, I've retired from smut. Smut is also a genre that I love and have mad respect for, but it needs to be as a reader, not a writer. I want to be proud of my fics again, for me, not because they've gotten popular because they're kinky.

So yeah. I left because I never liked reader insert in the first place, but it was a ton of fun to be able to write so prolifically in such a lively community. I'm terribly sorry if this taints my fics in any way to you, like I was flippant while writing them. I wasn't. I always cared about writing them, there was just something big missing for me, and I stayed longer than I should have. That's all. I do appreciate you asking the question; it wasn't an intrusion at all. I give all my love to this community, because it was truly meaningful to me during, as we all know, a terrible, terrible time. But I'm much happier now, and hopefully my next fic will be one I'm truly proud of again.

canon ships are eh to me because the author and producers know that any ship that gets canonized will make them lose viewers who are antis of that ship (and also homophobic viewers because 90% of these ships are gay) so they're all boring to me. actually what ships even ARE canon. idk. anyway but i dont have a specific favorite ship or ship i hate (excluding all the weird ass ones) but i do really like shinkami and momojirou. i'll read basically any (moral) ship though!

dynamics! now this might be an unpopular opinion but dadzawa is taken TOO FAR and i will not stand for it. like yeah he's dadlike but not to THAT extent. he is not their literal father he's like a father figure there's a difference. emo + ray of sunshine is sooo popular in this fandom. and as much as i say i don't like it that's a fucking lie i live for that shit! dadmight is chill because he just gives off so much dad energy. that man is a father. uhhh i cant think of any other dynamics rn

Catharsis (Awase Yosetsu X Momo Yaoyorozu Short Story)

I stumbled onto some post talking about these two and their shared trauma, so I made this in response. Kinda forgot who it was but credit goes to him/her for the idea.

Awase Yosetsu sometimes wondered whether he was alone. Not literally, obviously: he had friends, family, and a school he felt he belonged to. More so, alone in his mind. Were his life experiences, and the way he reacted to them, unique? Has no one else suffered the same trauma he had?

Logic dictated that the answer was a clear no. The Kamino Incident, more than a week ago, had been far more tragic than what he had went through. Hundreds of civillians, unaware of a police raid just a few kilometers down the road, had their lives taken away in a mere instant. He had been horrified to find out about that.

Still, as he lay awake at night staring at the ceiling of his dormitory, something he found doing more and more since the camp, he thought, Is it selfish of me to think that...that...was worse?

He suppressed a shudder. Don’t think about it, he warned himself, forcing his mind away and to lighter subjects, like lunch today, where Monoma was karate-chopped by Kendo again, and everyone started laughing...

The whirring of the chainsaw grew louder; the wail of that abomination pierced his ears. He was getting slower. They were getting ––

“Stop!” He slapped himself, curling up underneath his blanket. He still could not forget it, no matter how hard he tried.

Maybe I should schedule an appointment with Hound Dog...

No, he didn’t want to. It wasn’t...proper, for him to go for counselling. The school had offered it immediately after the disaster that was the camp, and he had taken one just to placate them. He went through the motions, nodding, talking a bit, smiling while he could. Perhaps the adrenaline somehow still kicked in, days after it. He might have still been in a shock then. But now...

The memories started to come back now to haunt him, to make him lose sleep, to make him unsettled. And it worked.

So was he alone in this, or were the others equally affected? Worse? Less?

Granted, the mood in the school was dim for the first few days, but the majority of the cohort seemed to return to their normalcy by the first week. But he...he could not.

His thoughts drifted towards Yaoyorozu. Even though she had received the injury from that monster, she seemed to be faring better than him. From the few times they passed each other in the hallway, or at the canteen, she looked as chirpy as ever. She smiled at everyone, laughed at her friends’ jokes, and seemed totally unaffected by the incident. He presumed her studies had not taken a hit whatsoever. Still the top scorer of the cohort.

Great, guess I’ll be late again tomorrow, he sighed inwardly as he glanced at his watch, informing him that it was half past eleven.

He sat up and sunk his face into his hands. Maybe I should take a walk.

Grabbing his shoes and track pants, he found himself at the ground floor of his dorms. Thanking the reasonable dorm rules that allowed for late-night jogs, he stepped out of the building.

As he shut the door behind him, he turned around, and his face blanched.

Yaoyorozu’s face stared back at him. She was in a running outfit as well. Her surprised disposition transformed into a smile. She waved, and Awase meekly waved back.

Figuring that she was probably waiting for him, he quickened his pace to meet her in the middle of the road.

“Yaoyorozu-san, hi. Didn’t expect to see you.” He mustered a smile.

“Same here, Yosetsu-san. I jog every night, so it’s the first time I’ve seen you this late. Are you jogging as well?”

“Uh no, just taking a walk.”

“Sure! I’m fine with that too.”

Awase frantically waved his hands. “Oh, you really don’t have to...”

Her lips widened into a smile like the crescent moon above them. “No, but it’s fun to have someone to talk to. I’d prefer this than jogging alone.”

Was she always this friendly and bubbly to everyone? Awase was astounded by her amiability. But he gave an affirming nod, and the two set off down the lane.

They first chatted about schoolwork and friends, about the antics of the guys, which Yaoyorozu laughed at, charmingly. But Awase knew that the conversation would somehow lead to their near-death experience. To his surprise, it was Yaoyorozu who initiated it.

“How are you holding up?” She asked. “After the camp, I mean.”

Awase looked at the asphalt. “Good, I guess,” He replied evasively. “You?”

“Same, doing great.” Awase looked at her beaming expression, and his heart plummeted. She looks totally okay.

“Well,” she continued, “as great as I can be, since, y’know...” Her voice softened to a mouse’s squeak. “We were both there.”

The thought of the monster loomed over both of them, silencing the conversation for a moment. He glanced at her again. Her smile seemed less curved now, almost as if she was scared.

Of course she’s scared, idiot. She nearly died too, Awase scolded himself.

“I...can’t sleep. It’s been difficult to,” He confessed towards the pavement.

Yaoyorozu didn’t reply, and Awase was beginning to wonder if he had said it too softly when she said, “You too? That’s good.”

Awase looked at her, and her face reddened, though with the faint lamplight it was hard to see. “I mean, I don’t mean it that way! Just –”

“I know, Yaoyorozu-san, don’t worry.” He chuckled, and she relaxed. Continuing, “I’m glad too. You looked...you looked really well in school.”

“Well, so did you. You looked quite happy with your friends, I thought you had gotten over it,” She said.

Me? Was there another Awase walking around? She really thought I was coping well?

“I – I’m surprised you thought that way,” He managed. “It’s been a horrible few weeks. I thought it might have showed.”

She shook her head adamantly. “Have you visited Hound Dog-sensei, Yosetsu-san?” She asked with evident concern.

“Just once.”

Yaoyorozu frowned. “That’s not enough. I had to go at least thrice. Why don’t you?”

“Because...” Awase trailed off. How do you explain this to a girl?

He doubted the intelligence of Momo Yaoyorozu, because she read his mind. “Don’t tell him I told you this, but Bakugo-san went for a session too, you know.”

His jaw dropped. “Bakugo? But how...?”

She nodded. “We’re good friends, so please don’t tell anyone else. I only did so because there’s nothing wrong with a guy going for counselling, okay? As heroes, we’re bound to experience such things. Ah, sorry if I sound naggy!”

“No, it’s okay. I...I needed to hear that. Thank you, Yaoyorozu-san.”

“No problem.”

They enjoyed a comfortable silence on the walk back. When they saw their dormitories close by, Yaoyorozu said, “Yosetsu-san? Can I give you my number?”

“Huh?” The question made him blink at her.

“I’d like someone to talk to, if I want to. I know my classmates went through trauma of their own, but nothing really could compare to what we faced...I feel that they wouldn’t understand fully.”

Awase nods slowly. “Sure.”

Some tapping on a screen later, and the two depart with a goodbye and a smile. Awase clambers onto his bed, and although the nightmarish thoughts don’t disappear as one would expect in a fantasy, he does sleep a little more sounder. That’s fine by him.

I had more to talk about for these two, but as two schoolmates who just shared a near-death experience, opening their innermost thoughts on that basis with no prior meetings seems a bit rushed. Hope you liked it, and if anyone knows the person who started this, lemme know and I’ll credit them.

P.P.S wtf there’s a kodai x yaoyorozu? I thought I was the only madlad that wrote a fanfic on that. That’s 3 for fandom, 0 for me. Brb gonna AO3 this. If anyone has good fics on that niche ship, pls tell me. I’ll be very grateful

Update on kodai x yaoyorozu. I was swindled. There’s like one post apparently, even though I freaking tagged the fic I wrote on them, and it didn’t show up. So now I’m wondering how many jewels of posts are just concealed because of Tumblr’s shitty search engine.

1. I found your blog with the Winner Takes It All collab! I was just scrolling through the BNHA x Reader tag (bc I am lonely) and I came across it :D

3. About 2-3 months now?

4. I haven’t gotten a solid grasp of your personality, but you give off ‘living in a high-rise apartment with a lot of natural sunlight and plants everywhere’ energy.

5. To my knowledge, we haven’t directly interacted, but I do like your works!

6. Literally anything with Tokoyami; that bird boy does not get nearly enough attention and I’m upsetti.

7. I’m not certain if you’ve done this yet, but I am a SUCKER for angst to fluff in very specific scenarios.

8. I don’t think I’ve read shipfics from you where it was two characters with each other.

9. I am a fan of the way you write Tokoyami and Yaku! I feel like you write them pretty well, given that they don’t get a ton of screentime.

10. Your stories actually have helped me yes! I recently moved from CA to NY and it was a really stressful time in my life, so seeing posts from you, whether it be fics or just answering anons, would brighten my day a little.

11. I won’t get too into it, but I think they’ve helped me get a bit of a better understanding of healthy relationships, to which I try to relay to my sister whose having relationship troubles.

Have you considered making an original story? not saying your tdmm stories aren't good, i LOVE them, but do you have any OG stories that arent tied to a fandom?

nope! i’m not interested in writing original fiction. unlike most content creators in fandom, i don’t have a bunch of little ocs i’ve had since forever that i’d want to write a story about. the closest i’ve gotten to writing a story about ocs would be a next gen fic, but that would obviously be tied to a fandom and feature canon characters.

the closest i’ve ever gotten to writing original fiction was in eighth grade when i wrote a story about my friends and i stumbling across a secret magic realm connected to our school, so even though that’s not tied to a fandom, that’s technically real person fiction. fun fact, that’s actually the story that got me into writing as a hobby! my friends would read it as i wrote it, and a common compliment was that they liked how i thought they personally’d react in situations bc they identified w/them, which just goes to show that i’ve apparently always had a knack for characterization.

the only other possible option i’ve even remotely considered would be publishing my diary in a novel form with changed names, but i’ve long since decided against that bc if by some off chance it were to develop a fandom, i wouldn’t want shipfic to exist (bc the only people in relationships would be minor/background characters, and i feel like to ship characters with no romantic interest in one another would be disrespectful to the real people they’re based on), and since i’m a huge fan of fanfiction and the like, to be one of those authors who doesn’t allow fic of their stuff would just be a betrayal. the only way to guarantee no one writes fic about this very specific thing that would make me uncomfortable would be to never write or publish the source material at all.
