I just woke up at 7 am exactly w a weird feeling, then a few minutes later my whole room is rumbling and I can hear the glass in my window rattling. It lasted about a minute or two. I actually thought there was an earthquake for a few minutes there. But no, just Space-X launching their "Super Heavy" rocket, the "most powerful launch vehicle ever built', about 25 minutes away from my home. I cannot even describe how much I hate Space-X for all that they've done to my community and the environment in which we live. Musk has inflicted SEVERE and unforgivable harm upon land extremely diverse in plant and animal species (we have the 2nd highest concentration of wildlife next to Everglades!!), has made sea turtle nesting sites unsafe and unusable for the turtles, and is encouraging the gentrification of our culturally unique border community. Not to mention, the land which he disrespects so blatantly is occupied by the Carrizo Comecrudo tribe and is extremely significant to the indigenous peoples of this region. My own ancestors relied on this coastal environment for nourishment and safety, and it has always been a source of peace and love for my family and myself.

A bunch of Random Reasons why I love Professor Howard Mangrove
(cause I just finished ep 3 of candela obscura)
his response to Arlo wanting to see chickens "they're extremely enjoyable! Very easy to kill! :D"
response to literally anything: violence
Discreetly mixing chemicals in some sort of concoction "I'm unsure of our intentions"
*hands Arlo a miniature flashbang concoction* Arlo: where should I throw it? Professor: oh - away
I HAVE A SINGULAR TORCH
plan of action: light a cigarette, charge at the beast with a flaming axe
Definition of calm and pleasant while saying the most batshit concerning lines

There was a bit of talk about an "Eddie" between Laura and Robbie late in the game. I feel like that might have been Howard's son and Arlo's fiancé until something happened to him that got them into Candela.

May 13, 2022 - Black-tailed Whistler or Mangrove Golden Whistler (Pachycephala melanura)
Found in northern Australia and Papua New Guinea, these whistlers live in mangroves and nearby forests and scrub. Foraging in vegetation and only rarely on the ground, they eat invertebrates, including insects, spiders, and small crabs. They build thin cup-shaped nests from grass, rootlets, twigs, and spiderwebs where females lay two or three eggs. Both parents feed the chicks.

On August 9, 1970, a group of Black Power activists led 150 people in a march against police harassment of the black community in Notting Hill, London. They demanded an "end to the persecution of the Mangrove restaurant" and more generally of the black community in the neighborhood. Between January 1969 and July 1970, the police broke into the restaurant twelve times, with the excuse that it was a den of drug dealing and prostitutes. No evidence of these activities, however, was ever found. Despite this, his license for the evening opening was withdrawn.
The owner, Frank Crichlow, a black rights activist, sought support from the Caribbean community and the local Black Panther Party. A group called the Mangrove Defense Action Committee was created and preparations for a protest march began. The building quickly became a makeshift hub for community activism. "You had the restaurant upstairs, but downstairs people were busy preparing the signs for the march," says Clive Phillip, one of Frank's friends. Prior to the protest, the Mangrove Committee wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Edward Heath and others. He said the numerous "deliberate raids, harassment and provocations" by the police have been reported to the Interior Ministry on many occasions, but have fallen on deaf ears.
"This protest is necessary as all other methods have failed to bring about any change in the way the police have chosen to deal with blacks." At the 1970 march in defense of the Mangrove, violence broke out between the police and demonstrators. A crowd began to gather outside the Mangroves and what began as a peaceful protest march ended with 24 injured and 19 arrests. Nine blacks, including the owner of the Mangrove, were accused of inciting rioting and fighting. Eventually, the allegations of rioting were dismissed because the police statements were thought to be contradictory.
The following year the Mangrove Nine were tried in the Criminal Court for provoking a riot during the march, with a trial that lasted two months, at the end of which all nine defendants were acquitted of the most serious charges. The trial had a notable echo because it entered judicial history as the first official recognition of "evidence of racial hatred" in the metropolitan police forces. It also marked a milestone in Britain's civil rights struggle.

Hi I completed episode 2 of candela obscura 3 hours ago and I still haven't recovered. BRAIN DUMP INCOMING
I have taken a brain just watching all that. All I can think about is "The Professor Is Not Okay" why does Howard carry a surgical equipment when he insists he doesn't know medicine and is not That kind of doctor? Has he done this before? He says he was "just in the moment" but I don't believe anything the professor says anymore? And what about dean? Who's dean? Blue mist turning into the clear distinct features of a face over his shoulder? The fact that it looked like this has happened before????? Like it's common for the professor? To just be possessed? By a ghost? Also got chills hearing him say "let's find Arlo's beau" I NEED TO KNOW MORE

Finally watched Letitia's episode of Small Axe on Amazon Prime (Mangrove, which is a based on a true story of racial injustice in England) and my fucking goodness. Had I not watched Black Panther: Wakanda Forever I probably would've been floored but at this point I already know what she's capable of. There's a specific scene in Small Axe that reminded me so much of Letitia's acting during the scene where Shuri's with Nakia and Riri and she's pissed, hurt, and angry feeling like her family abandoned her. Like if y'all haven't seen it already please go check out Small Axe on Amazon Prime because our girl was acting her ass off. And obviously if you loved her in BP you'll love her in this as well. So go check it out!
