“It's Mr. Sherlock Holmes, the theorist. Remember you! I'll never forget how you lectured us all on causes and inferences and effects in the Bishopgate jewel case. It's true you set us on the right track; but you'll own now that it was more by good luck than good guidance.” “It was a piece of very simple reasoning.” “Oh, come, now, come! Never be ashamed to own up. But what is all this? Bad business! Bad business! Stern facts here,—no room for theories. How lucky that I happened to be out at Norwood over another case! I was at the station when the message arrived. What d'you think the man died of?” “Oh, this is hardly a case for me to theorize over,” said Holmes, dryly.
Moment of appreciation for Sherlock Holmes being sassy against arrogant inspectors

Hi Gina! Hope you’re having a nice day. I wanted to ask if you or your European followers can help me a bit to know what to expect in Harry’s pit. Are harries as intense as louies when it comes to queueing and getting your place close to the stage? I had a seated ticket last year and don’t know what to expect this time, I really want to see him up close. Will it matter much if I’m in one of first rows (bishopgate) or if I’m at the back of it? I’ve been close to the stage in small spaces with a really low stage and if you’re not close enough and also not very tall, you barely see anything. I wonder if it matters that much if the stage is high. TY
Hi sweetheart. My impression from hearing others talk about pit is that harries are out of their minds when it comes to queuing and getting close to the stage.
But I haven’t done it since 2017, so I’m not the one to ask.
Can anyone who’s been in pit at Harry’s European shows chime in?

Ahhh I have Bishopgate as well! I honestly don’t think it’s gonna be worth it to queue from the day before, form what I understood the pods sections are quite small, maybe around a thousand people per section? I’d queue in the red zone though, it could make the difference
I really have nooo idea on how bug the pods are. But honestly I think it’s fairly close, so I guess it’s not the best choice to cook yourself under 40 perceived Celsius degrees haha

SAINTS FOR MARCH 08
Bl. John Larke, 1544 A.D. English martyr and priest. John Larke served as a pastor in Bishopgate, Woodford, Essex, and then Chelsea until his arrest for opposing the religious supremacy of King Henry VIII of England. He was executed at Tybum with John Ireland and Jermyn Gardiner. His longtime patron was St. Thomas More. March 8
St. Senan. Senan was born of Christian parents at Munster, Ireland. He was a soldier for a time and then became a monk under Abbot Cassidus, who sent him to Abbot St. Natalis at Kilmanagh in Ossory. Senan became known for his holiness and miracles and attracted great crowds to his sermons. He made a journey to Rome, meeting St. David on the way back. He built several churches and monasteries, and then settled on Scattery Island, where he built a monastery that soon became famous. He died at Killeochailli on the way back from a visit to St. Cassidus monastery
St. Beoadh, 518 A.D. Irish bishop. He was called Aeodh, receiving the prefix "Beo" because of his evident holiness. He was the bishop of Ardcarne. One of his relics, called the "Bell of St. Beoadh," has long been venerated and recognized as a work of art.

Spike Global and The Heaton Group join forces to forge new community spirit
Tumblr media
Creating community is vitally important to developer The Heaton Group, which specialises in repurposing dilapidated buildings to enhance town centres, bring neighbours together and restore local pride. This is why it has chosen to partner with market-leading resident engagement and property management software provider Spike Global, to create a personalised residents’ portal to help foster community spirit in its latest development, Bishopgate Gardens in the centre of Preston, Lancashire.
Spike Global has worked with The Heaton Group to create a white labelled version of its Spike Living portal that is unique to residents of the 130 apartments. The portal, which can be accessed through a smartphone app, is helping tenants connect with their neighbours, make new friends, join clubs, book communal amenities and even receive discounts on local services – as well as taking care of routine practicalities such as reporting faults or keeping track of payments.
John Heaton, Managing Director of The Heaton Group, comments: “From when we were first designing Bishopgate Gardens, it was imperative that we created a community and enhanced what is going on in the local area. Our resident portal is key to us doing this. As well as being functional and allowing residents to communicate with our concierge and maintenance team, it is encouraging residents to meet up and socialise either in the building or at local events. It’s like a modern day message board, but with more functionality.” Bishopgate Gardens is a development on Ormskirk Road, close to Preston bus station, that has transformed two disused former Department of Work and Pensions office blocks into the town’s first amenity-focused residence, with roof gardens, community lounges and co-working space to encourage a more sociable way of living. Beneath the apartments is a retail space that The Heaton Group has transformed into ready-to-occupy shops for local independent entrepreneurs, including local coffee shop Brew + Bake, deli, hairdresser and barber, to help give the area an instant buzz.
Jeremy Heath-Smith, CEO of Spike Global, comments: “Bishopgate Gardens has been designed to create a sense of community spirit, and our Spike Living portal is an important part of that, offering more ways for residents to meet and get to know each other, as well as giving local businesses the chance to promote what they have to offer. We are delighted to be working with The Heaton Group to put modern technology to work on an age-old problem – how to make friends and feel at home when you move somewhere new.”
Bishopgate Gardens comprises 130, one, two and three-bedroom apartments and duplexes, all featuring high-specification kitchens and bathrooms, in the heart of Preston’s regenerating town centre. Over the past decade the area has received a £434 million investment to expand and improve the infrastructure for transport, create 20,000 new jobs and more than 17,000 new homes. The local economy is expected to grow by over £1 billion in the next 10 years, meaning it is bound to be a popular destination for young people looking for a first home, buy-to-let investors and those looking to move to a thriving area for work. With that in mind, Bishopgate Gardens, in conjunction with Spike Global, provides the technology to help them rapidly turn a house into a home.

St Ethelburga’s Bishopgate
St Ethelburga was a 7th Century abbess of the Benedictine Abbey at Barking, and sister to Erkonwald, Bishop of London, for whom Bishopgate is named. Ethelburga was noted to have offered significant care to her community during an outbreak of plague in 664 C.E. – eventually dying of the disease herself.
Tumblr media
The exact date of construction of the church named for her is unknown, but it existed as early as 1250, going by the name of St Adelburga-the-Virgin. The medieval church survived both the Great Fire in 1666 and the Blitz, and the fallout of becoming one of the few churches in which divorced people could remarry in 1930. Sadly, the 1993 IRA bombing of Bishopgate destroyed around 70% of the church, with demolition of the remains looking certain at one point.
Tumblr media
However, the church was rebuilt to the original plan, though with many changes internally, medieval now mixing with modern. Incredibly, the 18th Century bell survived the bomb and was re-hung in the restored tower. St Ethelburga’s was reopened in 2002 as the Centre for Reconciliation and Peace, a charity aiming to build relationships across divisions of conflict, culture and religion. To the rear of the church is a peaceful garden, in which stands a Bedouin tent, a sturdy construction with soft cushions inside, apparently perfect for dialogues, workshops, meetings and away days.
