I like the idea of a story where, rather than that the turaga are already aware of at least some of Metru Nui's bad things being inherent, the realization proper starts with their return.
It's the ease the matoran keep working. They have regular breaks, can call in sick, socialize, and play, and are all the more productive for it.
The Rahaga and Dume have helped calm down the lingering rahi or put them elsewhere where they could live in peace. The matoran know how to live with them and the ones reintroduced.
So, no more imprisoning rahi in the Archives. Whenua headstarts a mapping of everything before anybody starts to explore and renovate them.
Matoran of the different koros mingle to help with rebuildung. They help rebuild the chute system and the core knots in Le-Metru. Po-Metru gets proper villages with supply lines. They rebuild each metru, every important piece of infrastructure, to safe.
The turaga feel uneasy. Like there's something missing but they can't think of what. This is everything they wanted, isn't it? Isn't it?
This unease only shows at what it is - haircracks in their beliefs - when Jaller demands accountability from them. Demands them to tell the truth. And when they can't to his satisfaction, he calls out a city-wide strike. One that most matoran heed! All six of the Metrus!
The haircracks split open.
Impossible in the old Metru Nui. The six Turaga (Mata Nui)'s minds try to understand, struggling to bridge the gap between what they knew as normal as matoran and what their community is like now.
Nobody would've thought of a strike except if another civil war had been building up. Nobody would've thought of the Metrus working together. Nobody would've dared to speak up against Dume.
Or not openly, not with the threat of the vahki.
But. There are no vahki anymore. There haven't been any vahki in Metru Nui for a millenium.
Metru Nui works. It lives. There is no need for the vahki. The turaga didn't even notice the unusual peace stems from the lack of the robotic enforcers. The matoran don't fear retribution for calling out authority on their mistakes.
There are less accidents because working the conditions are safer. Why weren't they safe before?
Peace and safety without the vahki, because there are none. What a joke.
Yet, here they are. The turaga's world is not tilting anymore. It's breaking. With the fear of Mata Nui dying, they don't have time to think about it. Even less time when Teridax begins his reign. Survival matters more.
Then Metru Nui dies once more, this time apparently for good. The truth about the universe is revealed. Most if not all inhabitants migrate to Spherus Magna. A new sort of peace is established, with new dangers threatening it.
The turaga have now time again to think. They unconsciousness is doing the work of what they've realized even if they refuse to. It's here that their mental breakdown starts.

A Whenua headcanon I got after reading Voyage of Fear:
In his flashback sequence about Mavrah, Whenua seems to be a biologist or zoologist. He’s one of only three people studying dinosaurs/sea monsters in an extremely secret project, so he clearly knows his stuff.
But when we meet Whenua later he’s an “archivist” — a broad title, but he seems like more of a librarian. He mentions cataloguing. Toa Lhikan finds him doing what looks like data entry on an exhibit of nondescript mechanical bits.
After Whenua almost died on the job, after the project was scrapped and Mavrah vanished (presumed dead), when all he and Onepu could do was mourn privately and keep their mouths shut…I bet Whenua transferred himself to a different field.

Bionicle thought:
So, the Toa Mata were partially decomposed or whatever and had to rebuild themselves after arriving on Mata Nui, right? What did the Turaga think when they saw these thin, lanky, weaker looking Toa arrive to save them? I know not all Toa look the same but I feel the Mata must be some exception, right?

Bohrok, Krana, Le-Koro, and Trauma
We don’t actually know who got caught first, do we?
We know Lewa was last, or at least close to last, since the villagers’ safety was used as blackmail to get Lewa to put the krana on. I could maybe see one or two Matoran potentially hiding until after Lewa was captured, but then Lewa was forced to hunt them down.
However, we don’t know who was caught first, or just as importantly, second. What if Matau was ambushed while doing a short patrol, and was then forced to put Krana on the villagers he had sworn to protect? What if it was Tamaru, who already has a fear of heights and now has to deal with a fear of him/her/theirself? What if Kongu, who was so proud to protect his villagers, but was made to betray them against his will? What if Ka tried to save him, but was driven back by the Bohrok, or Kongu himself ordered Ka away to keep Ka from being injured further?
Who found a friend alone and seemingly injured, only for them to turn around and force a Krana on their face? Or were they all just swarmed at once and the escapees were hunted down shortly afterwards?
Imagine being held down by your friends and having a body-possessing parasite attached to your face. Imagine being afraid of your friends, your neighbors, the ones who were supposed to protect you but at the same time knowing it isn’t their fault. Imagine the trauma of knowing you had done this to someone you care about.
Someone please get Le-Koro a therapist.

I’m having the thought of Nokama, early in the Toa Metru days, awarding gold star stickers to the other Toa whenever they do a good because she’s falling back on her old behavior as a teacher. Whenua and Nuju immediately catch onto what she’s doing and have to sit her down and gently explain to her that she’s not a teacher anymore, she’s a Toa operating on a team of equals, and she needs to treat the others as such.
Meanwhile Matau and Onewa are just like STICKERS?? OH HELL YEAH and do whatever they think will get them as many as possible.

Old fanart based on this post

Headcanon that when he was still being trained by The Order of Mata Nui, Krakua did not fully believe he was the one supposed to become a Toa, insecurity reinforced by the fact that he heard that maybe Mazeka would have been a better option since he had been the one saving his life and showing bravery and heroism when fighting Vultraz.
However, one day after a very rough training session with Helryx, Mazeka walks up to a battered and saddened Krakua and tells him that he believes he has what it takes to be a Toa, giving Krakua back the confidence he so much needed at that moment.
Idk, I just think it's wholesome and would have like to see them bonding more.

So we know that one thread that turned NSFW a bit of if Ice Toa's get mad enough Dry Ice fog leaves their mouth?
Would that concept be similar with Fire Toa's? And if so what type of smoke? Black smoke, bonfire smoke, smoke from cigarettes and vapes (as someone who's been exposed to all those listed her whole lifeI know the difference)
If anyone makes some Suggestive art please at least try to make some with Ackar agajsgsnbshsbsb-

Close Air Support
Headcanon that after one too many times where an enemy has gotten too close to use the Cordak Blasters on safely, Kongu reluctantly starts to use a melee weapon for close fighting. However, unwilling to simply give up the firepower of two Cordak Blasters, he takes a page out of Jaller's book and gives his second one to his old Gukko, Ka.

A headcanon / AU detail about how Mata Nui chose Toa Metru, for a specific plotbunny:
Mata Nui dedicated a part of his mind to search for toa and for matoran to search for the Great Disks. He has psychic powers so he can scan through Metru Nui, as well as get echoes of their actions.
His chosen toa and the Great Disk matoran should know each other, so that the matoran could give the disks to the toa later. And the toa should be stable, as in, not be distracted by issues to focus on saving the matoran.
Which still left hundreds to choose from.
I headcanon Mata Nui as the equivalent of a burned-out worker in deep depression, exhausted from work, his sickness, and long-term isolation at that time.
He didn't have the capacity to feel anything but exhaustion at the moment. He had trouble parsing his people's feelings because he didn't know how to udnerstand his own. He failed to recognize that undercurrent of tension and dread in everybody about Metru Nui.
And his survival instincts were barely working.
How did he choose? What made him stop when he searched?
Six matoran who were weathering being sick on their own. Who were miserable and should've rested and asked for help.
Who kept working because it was their duty, who said nothing to others, and who spent their time alone. Lonely. Thinking that this was normal and hurting all the more for it.
Mata Nui didn't understand what they were feeling. What he was feeling. He didn't understand that he recognized himself in them.
This was how he chose the Toa Metru.

I was dead for about two months now, but I’m back, and I have brought the promised Bionicleified Hatsune Miku!!! :D
Tumblr media
It’s just how I imagined her, you’re free to dislike the design lol
But now, let me explain the concept for her. In my opinion, she would be a Toa of sonics. I know that all Toa, Turaga and Matoran of sonics are male, but she’s still a girl. She would be alive like 1000 years after the reformation of Bara Magna. The machine that makes Matoran could have had the restrictions turned off by then.
Her hair isn’t real. It’s magnetic, so you can just snatch them off of her hair. When I think about it, most cosplay wigs for Miku has detachable ponytails lol (Also, they were inspired by Rodaka’s hair. I imagine she looked at some Vortixx and was like: This! I want whatever they have on the back of their heads! LIKE RIGHT NOW!!! ) Her hands have this armor thingy to emulate how her sleeves work. Legs and hands are also black to look similar to her outfit.
Toa of sonics are gray. Like, just different shades of gray. Also, they mostly have yellow eyes. But I still wanted to keep some of her original colors. So she just has some rare pink eyes, and the splashes of blue are just paint. The paint still kinda works in world, since blue is kinda a feminine color, and it probably helps her not to get misgendered haha
Oh, and I almost forgot. I wrote her number 01 in Matoran alphabet on her arm. I imagine she wrote it herself to be like: Yes, I am number one Toa of sonics lol
I choose Kanohi Calix for her, since in many music videos Hatsune Miku often dances, so I thought it would fit her, and help her pull off those perfect dance moves!
As a Toa, I imagine she would travel a lot, and help those in need along the way, and when she stops in some town or city she would sing for everyone...
I think that’s all! Hope you like her design! :)

Fixing (maybe) the Red Star
As a concept, this broken afterlife slaps — but it also derailed my brain and a good chunk of lore. I think it was a problem for Greg Farshty, too, since he immediately had to go back and specify why the Machine That Resurrects Everything couldn't exactly resurrect everything. (RIP Toa Mangai)
There's a lot going on with the Red Star. I think the easiest fix is to narrow the its field. Why back up millions of brains when most matoran, etc. were meant to be drones? Instead, make the Red Star a failsafe for key systems figures. Leaders. Guardians. People like Artakha, a few Order of Mata Nui members, the Toa Mata, the Great Spirit himself. Oh, and Karzahni. The Barraki. The makuta.
A few narrative implications and plot bunnies:
• Imagine accomplishing the impossible and killing a makuta, only for him to appear in a new body a few months later and tell you no matter how many times you end him, he'll always come back. He can never not come back.
• Immortality messes beings up. Die, return, die, return. After a few times, every other being feels less real than you are. Expendable.
• @herora-nuva (hi! love your work!) theorized on his YouTube channel that The Pit exists to keep the worst of the worst from being reincarnated, and that idea still tracks here. Bonus points if knowledge of the Red Star fed the Barraki's god complexes.
• Makuta Teridax can't kill specific people in his way, and that's enough motivation for him to break the afterlife. Or, if this Red Star decays on its own as the original did, the game changes drastically one day. The beings keeping him in check aren't dead, but they also aren't here, and things in the GSR are about to get messy.
• Maybe another being breaks the Red Star to keep the immortals dead. It doesn't go quite as intended.
• To modern matoran eyes, resurrected beings are...strange. The populace of the GSR has upgraded and evolved over the millennia, but the Red Star only has the original designs. Resurrected bodies can be modernized, but there's still something off about them.
• The Red Star's purpose fades from memory, but clues drift throughout the myths.

Personally I headcanon some of the Okotan letters from G2 (as well as Takanuva's symbol from Bionicle: The Game GBA and Umarak's symbol) as being Nuva Symbols for hypothetical Toa Nuva of the Secondary Elements, thingy below I guess.
