The First Omen (2024)
This is a Movie Health Community evaluation. It is intended to inform people of potential health hazards in movies and does not reflect the quality of the film itself. The information presented here has not been reviewed by any medical professionals.
The First Omen has a scene taking place at a disco which, while it starts off without strobe lights, eventually uses extreme strobe lights. These strobes continue through two different songs, and are done once there is no music playing. When a character visits an apartment in a foggy neighborhood, that apartment occasionally has lights strobing from just outside. Late flashback sequences return to these scenes without warning.
All of the camera work in this film is very smooth. One slow spinning shot inside a moving vehicle may be disorienting.
Flashing Lights: 9/10. Motion Sickness: 2/10.
TRIGGER WARNING: This film features a graphic childbirth scene about a third of the way into the runtime. An open head wound is shown in one scene. One person dies by suicide. Within just a couple of minutes, there is a visceral car crash, a person vomiting on-screen, intense body convulsions, and a syringe piercing someone's skin up-close. Two scenes show rituals that include acts of sexual assault.
