BONNY + HOLDSWORTH AU HEADCANONS

I managed to recover the deleted file, so here they come!

━─━────༺༻────━─━ PRE-FRIENDSHIP

In this AU the whole 'broken clock' thing didn't happen and Bonnibel never hid (and lived) in the silo.

Mrs. Holdsworth and Bonny met in Silverglade, when Mrs. Holdsworth came to the village to pick up her order (some cushion covers) from Daxton. Bonnibel was sitting by the fountain, thinking about her life and the choices she made in it.

We have to agree that Mrs. Holdsworth knows everyone that lives in the Silverglade region, if not the whole island. This woman was someone she didn't see before.

Mrs. Holdsworth had some slices of her famous pumpkin pies on her, so she oblivously shared one with the woman.

The two of them quickly got along. It took only few days, a couple of tea mugs and even more pumpkin pie for Bonnibel to open up about the work she did for DarkCore.

In exchange, Mrs. Holdsworth told her about the magic side of Jorvik, oblivously hidding the more 'secret' stuff.

The women soon became good friends. They often spend time together in Moorland, chatting or drinking tea.

Mrs. Holdsworth repairs Bonnibel's clothes, and Bonny in exchange repairs Holdie's mechanical stuff.

Mrs. Holdsworth made a deal with Thomas, and Bonnibel takes riding lessons when she has time. She was skeptical at first, but Mrs. Holdsworth quickly changed her mind.

Mrs. Holdsworth showed her how to bake her famous pumpkin pie.

Mrs. Holdsworth never spoke about the Keepers, until Bonny meet Evergray. (The two are good friends in canon, and Bonny refers to him as Ev.)

After that, Bonny quickly met the rest of the Keepers. Mrs. Holdsworth is sure that Bonnibel sees Farah as a daughter of some sort. The younger woman can create stuff with plants, and that impressed the female engineer. At least that's what Mrs. Holdsworth claims.

Working with Big Bonny on the mechanical horse is a ton of fun. It's funny that even though it has nothing to do with riding it's still modelled after a horse. That's Jorvik for you! I did feel kind of bad when I snuck away to look at the old logbook. I found another entry I could read, and...this one made me feel sick. That oil rig Bonny used to work at was owned by Mr Sands, and that big project Bonny was so excited for? Making flesh golems. She didn't come right out and say that, but it was clear in the implications. A molding of flesh and machine that would be loyal and be able to problem solve without the complications of emotion. Looking at Bonny now, I want to think that this is a lie. Something she hid away as a game. She's so dramatic and full of life, and she's so dedicated to looking after the village by keeping the clockwork in top shape. I'm glad I can't understand the diagrams now. She's passionate, yes, but I didn't think she'd do something so horrible.

I feel like SSO is undergoing almost... a Disney Dreamlight Valley-ification. It's not necessarily to do with the art style, at least not the art style alone, but it's like. The way every character and NPC has to be Conventionally Beautiful. Nice To Look At. Mrs. Holdsworth is an old woman but she can't be fat or have a cane anymore. Big Bonny gets to be weird and quirky and eccentric but she still has to meticulously style her hair and iron her clothes every morning. Every character has a little smile and a friendly twinkle in their eye, except for when they're Evil, and then you have to be able to Tell that they're Evil because they Look At You Evilly. Every character has to have perfectly smooth skin and look no less tidy than maybe "messy bun". idk obviously this is kind of a reduction and there are exceptions (like Anne who gets to look angry sometimes even though she's a Good Guy, though idk if that's really breaching the theme since she's also SUPPOSED to be kind of a rift in the Soul Riders), but I can't help but feel like star stables character design is too close to "perfection" and "beauty" and "aesthetically pleasing" to really be all that interesting.
