Like, on a lot of policies, it seems like both parties are further right than the majority of Americans. I don't think I even know anyone IRL who is pro- helping Israel bomb Palestine, and a lot of these people would probably consider themselves "moderate conservatives" or "centrists." The government makes no pretense of representing us at all.

It's the exact same with the climate; majorities in EVERY state, even red states, support taking action to mitigate climate change, and even the moderate liberal folks support policies more radical than anything the government manages to do. The report by the Times caused right-wing bloggers and media to lose their minds. Although the right wing was perfectly happy to have Kanye West pal around with Trump, they are convinced that the possibility of an endorsement by Taylor Swift is proof of a deep-state conspiracy involving vaccines, rigging of the Super Bowl, and a fake romance between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce (a player for the Kansas City Chiefs).

Huppke notes the following statements by prominent Trump supporters:

I have included the above detail to make the point that the right-wing freak-out over the Taylor Swift conspiracy theory is real. It is a sign of the right wing’s detachment from reality (thanks to Trump) and the rising sense of panic about Joe Biden’s chances of beating Trump.

Because MAGA extremists cannot accept the fact that Trump is the worst presidential candidate in US history and will likely lose, they are beginning to fantasize about scenarios that will rationalize his defeat. The fact that they believe Taylor Swift is part of a deep-state conspiracy signals their anxiety and insecurity.

No one should dismiss the enormous influence that Taylor Swift has over her fans. An endorsement would likely motivate hundreds of thousands of young voters to show up in November. And what Republicans fear most is voters who show up at the polls. Republicans win when people don’t vote. That’s the fear at the center of their freak out over Taylor Swift—that young people might be motivated to vote.

I completely understand seeing voting for the presidency as a joke. I live in a state where it doesn’t matter what I vote and the idea of either of those idiots being president again is a nightmare. Highkey hope they both croak this year.

But I am conflicted with the project 2025 stuff. Does this make it more important that we vote blue? Am I kidding myself in thinking that democrats being in power wouldn’t still allow the far right to do their bullshit? Here's a post I made where the most recent reblog I added includes screenshots from Project2025 and corresponding news headlines and press releases that show how Biden and his admin have been meeting Project2025 goals the entire time he's been in office.

He's been focusing on foreign policy where as Trump will likely focus on domestic policy.

Either way their chessboard is being setup and unless we completely reject the two party system then we're going to end up with Project2025 whether Biden stays in office or Trump gets elected.

I will wager there is no candidate for American President who isn't a zionist. Not someone who has a chance tos to win.

Biden supports Israel and it's genocide of Palestinians? So does Trump. So does Bernie, who may talk the talk but when it comes to voting still votes to give Israel money. So did Obama. So did Bush Jr. So did Clinton.

The genocide done by colonialist state will not be solved by electing new ruler of an empire that directly benefits from said colonial state's existence. Trying to claim this proves voting is worthless is a doomerist argument that seeks an individual solution ("this proves Biden is as bad as Trump") to a systemic issue (USA will always support Israel because it's beneficial to their grip over Middle East). The answer here isn't "don't vote", the answer is "a) vote depending on issues that will be affected by whenever president is Trump or Biden or Bernie or whoever and b) begin organizing and working with people to pressure systemic bottom-up change to the system and dismantle the American Empire". But none of you want to hear the b because it means work, and none of you want to hear a because it forces you to see nuance and doesn't free you from responsibility the way "JUST GIVE UP AND LET THGEM STOMP ON YOUR FACE!" does.
