Thinking more about berelain/tuon. Berelain as the hawk that makes the ravens fly instead of the fox. Tuon being forced to confront another paendrag heir and what that means to her conception of oathbreakers. Berelain’s political mastery of ruling a city state versus Tuon’s political mastery of running an empire, and how their political instincts differ. Tuon as the embodiment of the ever-hungry empire versus Berelain, embodiment of resistance to the imperial impulses of Tear. Both of them politically savvy, both of them dangerous, both of them forced to scheme and outthink and struggle their whole lives. They should kiss about it.

Wheel of Time crew at the beach

Rand: Goes because he was convinced to by Min, Aviendha, and Elayne. Is wearing a bright red bathing suit that Moiraine gave him. Is the first to leave because he hates sand.

Egwene: Keeper of Sunscreen. Makes sure that everyone reapplys several times during the day. Is infuriated at Elayne because she keeps insisting that she doesn't need to wear any, even though she is clearly getting a sunburn.

Nynaeve: Brings a cooler full of water and snacks. Gets frustrated when people (Mat) asks her for drinks they know she didn't bring (whiskey). She lets out her frustration in a game of beach volleyball. Stops playing when she spikes the ball into another beach-goer's face.

Moghedien: Gets drilled in the face by a volleyball and has a bloody nose. Will get her revenge on Nynaeve one day though she kind of liked getting hit.

Elayne: Has Birgitte take pictures of her rolling around in waves and on the sand while pretending to laugh. Consults with Aviendha which is the best picture, and they decide Birgitte has to do them over, who is nowhere to be found. She isn't getting sunburn, and if she does, it'll tan. You'll see.

Aviendha: Has the best day at the beach. Took so many pictures, although they were all of the ocean. Except one of Elayne, which happens to be Aviendha's favorite.

Birgitte: Runs away when Elayne goes to look at the pictures with Aviendha. Spends the rest of the day with Mat.

Mat: Brought his own cooler that had alcohol. He and Birgitte spend most of the day together, though Elayne eventually finds them. Somehow, she's already drunk even though she didn't have anything to drink yet. Is being buried up to his neck in sand by Olver, who is lured away with the snacks Nynaeve has. No one goes to help him out because Nynaeve still has that volleyball.

Perrin: Looks forward to spending a nice day on the beach. Berelain is there, and by the Light her bathing suit is very revealing. Faile sees him glance at Berelain's general direction and yells at him before leaving him to spend time with Loial. All he was looking at was the dog someone else brought with them.

Loial: Spends all day under an umbrella writing about the day. The beach is fascinating to him, but he doesn't get why humans spend so much time there, given how hot it is.

Faile: Enjoys the time she spends with Loial after she got mad at Perrin. Is totally aware of the dog that Perrin was looking at but is on Amazon ordering a bathing suit similar to Berelain's.

Berelain: Takes as many selfies as she possibly can. Pretends her hat blows away in the wind and asks Galad to help her catch it. She just threw it.

Galad: Is glad to help Berelain get her hat back, though he's confused as to why she threw it at all. Tells Morgase that Elayne refused sunscreen which is why she's burnt to a crisp the next day.

Min: Happily reads under an umbrella she shares with Rand. Convinces him to put his feet in the water.

Tuon: Is either sitting in a chair that is on a towel or is on Selucia's shoulders. She will not set foot on sand; it is unseemly. Egwene accidentally brushes sand on her towel. It was just an accident, Tuon.

Lan: Is in a black t-shirt and black jeans. Doesn't try to help Mat out of the sand. He thinks it's funny that Nynaeve is keeping him there, though he hasn't smiled all day.

Thom: Drove everyone to the beach. Is playing music on his towel.

Moiraine: Bought everyone ice cream and didn't get a thank you from anyone except Thom and Egwene. Warns everyone that she saw jellyfish, but no one listens.

Gawyn: Goes to swim in the water and gets stung by a jellyfish. Egwene tells him he only has himself to blame, but he blames Rand for it. Rand left two hours before this even happens. Elayne says someone should just pee on him like in Friends.

I love Faile and Berelain, completely. I don't understand half the hate Faile gets and I love the almost against type character Berelain has. With that being said I'm wondering why, in the fandom here, Perrin gets hate over the Faile-Perrin-Berelain debacle. Isn't he the one getting stalked? And abused on account of it? (LoC ch.50) Even though Faile says, herself that she knows he's not doing anything. Isn't that, in a way, victim shaming? I've seen posts saying they could fight over someone more interesting (does one need to be interesting to be stalked??) Or they should just be together (maybe do so they can stop stalking and abusing Perrin maybe?). But why is Perrin getting the hate when he didn't even do anything? I'm not saying to love Perrin (alThough does anyone know why hes so hated?) But im wondering why hes the one put at fault?

Cold-hearted, she'd written, though she'd meant it as a condemnation, he knew, and not instructions or prophecy.

Still, he hoped that it wasn't only politics, between Elayne and her future husband. He hoped there was affection, maybe even love.

Berelain pursed perfect lips. Light, but the woman was beautiful! Faile was downright dingy by comparison, her nose too large, her bosom too small. Her voice wasn't nearly as melodic as Berelain's. Why had the Creator made people as perfect as Berelain?

Randland World Leaders - Do they know the price of a banana apple?

Morgase Trakand - No, but she could get it in the right neighborhood if asked. Understands the economic influences that affect prices and knows roughly where Andor's sit at any given time.

Elayne Trakand - Pre world travels? Not with a gun to her head. She wouldn't give a false guess though, just avoid the question rather then admit ignorance. Post world travels she knows the prices of most common food stuffs for Andor and all of it's immediate neighbors with scary accuracy.

Rand al'Thor - Yes. One of the first things Rand does after taking over Tear is familiarize himself with tax policies and food production and grain trade. He is a farm boy at heart and has Powerful Opinions on cost of living.

Perrin Abyara - Nope. He thinks he does, but in reality he names the price of apples he paid aka, pre adventure. He knows that prices in general have gone up but if you tried to sell him an apple he would get offended when you wouldn't take the same price he paid prior to half a dozen kingdoms going to war, and the endless summer choking out trade. He wouldn't say anything though and just assume you where trying to squeeze a few coins out of him because he's dressed like some 'idiot lord'.

Faile- Yes. She knows exactly the price of apples grown in the Two Rivers and knows that it's out competing the neighboring provinces apples by a good margin. Does this have something to do with her threatening local officials to ensure they don't try to hard to compete with Two Rivers food prices? Maybe, but it's nothing Perrin can prove she did. HE dosen't know the price of apples.

Siuan Sanche - Apples? No. Fish? Yes. Siuan could tell you the price of every fish in the market at Tar Valon and what will be cheaper next month based on yields out of the south. This is not for economic reasons, it's because she still eats fish for 3 meals out of 4.

Berelain - Nope. She has economic advisers who she pays to know that. Her skill and perk points all went into Foreign Policy and Espionage, not Economics.

Alliandre - The price of apples keeps Alliandre up at night staring at her bedroom ceiling, fearing for her life. It turns out having a religious tyrant running rampart around your kingdom burning down farms and causing skyrocketing inflation by assaulting trade routes and exacting inconsistent 'tithes' on merchants will make you VERY familiar with the economic conditions of the common man. Every time the price of apples goes up a silver mark, Alliandre makes her food taster check her meals an extra time.

Tuon - Yes. Always good to know the price of local cyanide containing fruits, just in case.

Elaida - "It's an apple Alviarin? How much can it cost? 10 gold marks?"

Rand: You’re on Your Own Kid, when asked he consistently says Speak Now

Mat: Cruel Summer, he insists he’s only really listened to Reputation-this is a lie- Midnights is his favorite album

Perrin: Paper Rings, the Lover Album is by and large his favorite- however Fearless is a close second- he just thinks the songs are pretty

Egwene: Wildest Dreams, she’s a Reputation girly first and foremost

Nynaeve: Treacherous, Folklore zero elaboration needed

Elayne: Mastermind, 1989 is her favorite album by far

Min: You Belong With Me, she’s a Red girly and was the one who got Mat to listen to Taylor’s entire discography

Avienda: Red, Avienda isn’t very familiar with all the eras but after Elayne showed her all the albums she picked Evermore

Not a missed opportunity, but I always thought it would have been interesting if Lanfear was actually Berelain. Because it would have been the biggest non-disguise ever for her, but also the dynamic with her/Perrin/Faile would have been fascinating with that extra element. It also could have tied up Perrin's dreamwalking situation with her very nicely.

(Also the idea of her giving herself a bigger rack thinking "I mean, Rand's a man, men like boobs. I just need bigger boobs obviously. That's the only problem." and running with it.)

The Wheel of Time crew at a Halloween party

Rand: Went because he was told to by Min, Aviendha, and Elayne. Was supposed to wear a dragon mask and wings, but went wearing a name tag that said "Dave". Left at 9pm.

Min: Went as Belle in the blue dress and a book from Beauty and the Beast. Couldn't stand the dress, so she left with Rand.

Elayne: Went as Harley Quinn. Did her best to not complain that she was cold in the short shorts, but she was clearly shivering. Put something in the punch bowl when no one was looking and said, "Let's get weird," when she did.

Aviendha: Went dressed in her Vaporeon pajama onesie. Told Elayne to "put more in" after taking a sip of the punch and "you wetlanders need to live a little".

Mat: Went dressed as Aemond Targaryen with the wig and everything. Is mad when he sees Rand. "WTF, bro? I was gonna ride you!" he yelled. Elayne had to leave the room because she started laughing, though Mat doesn't get why.

Egwene: Went as Wilma Flinstone. Entered the house in front of Gawyn, while loudly complimenting the couple's costume that Perrin and Faile were wearing.

Perrin: Went as Scooby-Doo. Constantly tells people that although he is dressed as a dog, he is still a man. Fidgets with the tail like the Cowardly Lion all night.

Faile: Went as Fem!Shaggy in a baggy green shirt ang baggy brown sweatpants. Didn't put as much thought in the costume as Perrin did. Blames Perrin that her costume isn't any better. Secretly doesn't mind, she didn't want to wear anything but sweatpants.

Gawyn: Went as Barney Rubble. Doesn't understand why Egwene is so upset that he didn't go as Fred. Barney is from the same franchise anyway and has blonde hair, so it makes more sense. "At least I wore a costume," he said while point angrily at Rand who is minding his business.

Nynaeve: The hostess with the mostess and dressed as Snow White. Mat kept reminding her Snow White doesn't have a braid. She threw the apple she had as part of the costume at his face and hit him square in the forehead.

Lan: Helped Nynaeve decorate and then went to the movies before everyone came. Fuck them kids.

Moiraine: Dressed as Mary Poppins in the white dress and brought candy goody bages for everyone. Got one (1) compliment on her costume from Egwene. Got zero (0) thank yous for the candy. "It's okay," she tells herself. "They won't forget what I have planned for them later."

Thom: Dressed as Bert from Mary Poppins with the big drum on his back. Actually plays it like Bert did in the movie. Attempts to play Sexyback as he has punch.

Birgitte: Went as Katniss Everdeen. At first she says she won't yell that she volunteers as tribute, but as Elayne has more and more punch, she obliges happily.

Tuon: Shows up late because originally she was going to dress as Kim Kardashian, but then she heard a woodpecker outside, and took it as an omen to switch costumes halfway through getting ready. She went as Khloe Kardashian instead.

Berelain: Comes dressed as Dorothy from Wizard of Oz. Asks Perrin if he could be Toto for a picture together. Faile punches a hole in Thom's drum. Elayne has Instagram Live ready to go.

Galad: Comes dressed as Scarecrow. Laughs at how funny it is he and Berelain's costumes match. She laughs as well, what a funny coincidence (she was nonstop texting Gawyn to make him get a Scarecrow costume since July).

The lights suddenly go out and the door opens. Someone Nynaeve didn't invite walks in with a Michael Meyers mask. Everyone is screaming, except Moiraine and Thom. She turns the light back on and it turns out to be Gareth Bryne. Siuan comes in from behind Gareth and fist bumps Moiraine. Gaywn legitimately wet himself.

Loial: Writing notes the whole time wear a headband with Shrek ears.
