yes this is me being insane about a show that ended 20 years ago and like only 10 people actually talk about it here. so here goes nothing i guess.

i think it’s funny how you have these remarks about ben’s type being the damsel in distress (which i agree with lol) and how felicity just don’t really fit in it. bcs think about it in what situation (the one where they break out of a mental facility doesn’t count) did felicity actually needed ben to help her, in ways beyond just basic emotional support? when in ben’s case, specially with the whole dad thing in s3, felicity had to acually mediate their interactions at some point.

i remember somebody here saying they understood why felicity forgave ben at the end and how more dependent he is of her then the other way around and i agree completely. it's so interesting how so different from their other relationships their own are, ben with the damsel thing and felicity with her tendencies to date people that assume somehow of a mentor like figure or are somewhat in a higher position than her (noel obvs, simon rex dude for the first time, the teacher's kid as kinda of a rebound, learning how to be more detached (?) and greg with the whole running a hospital and being super accomplished)

another interesting thing about these scenes in specific is the level of projection going on here. i don’t doubt that noel sees part of his relationship with felicity in this way, especially in s1, with s3 the roles being reversed. and meghan just got dumped by sean bcs of julie and both him and ben were julie’s main support system so no wonder she sees julie’s relationship with ben this way (which tbh it kinda of was).

anyway this show has been rotting my brain since 2020 and it doesn’t show any signs that it will stop anytime soon.

the only good thing the avery storyline contributed to was ben going to that emt program and then realizing he wants to be a doctor
