25 Days of BeChloe Christmases 2022
Day 12 - Chloe's Culinary School of Cookie Baking
Baking cookies with your kids sounds easy enough, right? But it is sooooo not. I hope you enjoy this little slice of BeChloe family fluff. Based loosely off a prompt from FanFiction User nweeks3 where Beca and Chloe bake cookies with their 6-year-old children.
Chloe was in the kitchen putting together her grocery list when her six-year-old son, Dylan, came in. He sat at the counter and sighed heavily.
"Did you want something, Dyl?" Chloe asked.
"Mommy, I'm bored," 6-year-old Dylan Mitchell whined.
Chloe laughed. "It's only the first day of Christmas break," she said. "How can you be bored already?"
"I dunno," Dylan said with shrug. "Just am."
"Why don't you go play with your sister?" Chloe suggested.
"She's playing with her dolls," Dylan said. "I don't like playing dolls with her, she always makes me change their diapers."
Chloe bit her lip to keep from laughing.
"I know what we can do," Chloe said.
"What?" Dylan asked.
"I can teach you how to make cookies."
"Teach me? Like in school?"
"Yes, teach you like in school," Chloe responded. "Teaching is how you learn. So, do you want to learn how to make cookies?"
"What kind of cookies?"
"Whatever kind you want."
"I want the kind with M&Ms, but only the red ones," Dylan said. "I only like the red ones."
"I don't think they sell the red M&Ms without the other colors," Chloe said. "Why don't we make chocolate chip cookies? You like those."
"I don't want chocolate chip cookies," Dylan said, flopping his torso on the counter.
"I don't know what else to tell you, Dylan," Chloe said. "I have to finish making the list for the grocery store. Go find something to do because you're in my way."
"Fiiiinnnnneee," Dylan said and stomped out of the kitchen.
Chloe shook her head and went back to her list.
~~ 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~~
"Hey, babe," Beca said as she entered the kitchen from the garage. "How was your day?"
"We need to find something for the kids to do during their Christmas break," Chloe said, kissing Beca. "Or I'm going to need to reserve a room in the insane asylum."
"What happened?" Beca asked, chuckling.
"Dylan was bored, and nothing I suggested was good enough for him."
"What did you suggest?"
"My first suggestion was for him to play with Sophie."
"And he didn't like that idea?"
"No, because Sophie was playing with dolls, and she always makes him change their diapers."
Beca giggled. "I don't blame him for not wanting to do that. I'm just glad our little monsters are done with that."
"Stop calling our children little-"
"Mommmmmyyyyyy!" Dylan yelled from the living room.
"-monsters," Chloe said.
She sighed; Beca looked at her, smirking.
"Okay, he has been a little monster today," Chloe said and went to see what Dylan wanted.
"What do you want, Dyl?" Chloe asked.
"When will mama be home?"
"She's home," Chloe said. "She's in the kitchen."
"Yay!" Dylan screamed and ran into the kitchen. "Mama, can we order pizza for dinner?"
"I think that's-" Beca saw Chloe shaking her head. "Not going to happen. I'm sure mommy already has something planned for dinner."
"What?" Dylan asked.
"Baked chicken and roasted vegetables," Chloe responded.
"Again? We always have chicken and vegetables," Dylan whined. "I want pizza!
Chloe made a move toward Dylan; Beca grabbed her around the waist to hold her back.
"Go play, Dyl," Beca said. "We'll call you when dinner is ready."
Seeing the look on Chloe's face, Dylan didn't say a word and hurried out of the room.
"Thank you," Chloe said, turning in Beca's arms and kissing her. "I don't know what's gotten into him."
"I don't smell anything cooking yet," Beca said. "Want me to take the kids for pizza so you have some time for yourself? I'll bring you back a Hawaiian pizza."
"God, I love you," Chloe said, pulling Beca into a deep kiss.
~~ 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~~
While Beca had the kids out, Chloe soaked in a nice hot bath while sipping a glass of wine. Once she was done, she felt much better. She put her fluffiest robe on over her pajamas, grabbed a book, and went downstairs.
Chloe was cuddled up on the sofa, reading, when Beca called out from the kitchen.
"Chlo, we're home."
"In here," Chloe called back.
The kids came running into the living room; Sophie was carrying Chloe's pizza.
"Mommy," Sophie said. "Here's your pizza."
"Thanks, sweetie," Chloe said as she took the pizza and set it on the table in front of her. "Did you guys have fun with mama?"
"Yeah," Sophie said. "We-"
"Mommy, mommy," Dylan interrupted Sophie. "Mama said we could eggroll in your koolaid cookie baking class."
Sophie went to her room since Dylan was talking to Chloe.
"Mama said what?" Chloe asked, her brows furrowed.
"That is not what I said, Dyl," Beca said, laughing as she joined them.
Dylan shrugged at his mama and ran off to find Sophie.
"What exactly did you say?" Chloe asked.
"I said I was going to enroll them in your culinary cookie baking class."
"Wow, I would never have figured that out from what Dylan said," Chloe said, chuckling. "How did this all come about?"
"Dylan was telling me how you suggested baking cookies," Beca said. "When he told me he didn't want to make chocolate chip cookies, I was surprised, seeing as how those are his favorite. So, I asked what kind of cookies he would want to make."
"Did he say the M&M cookies with only red M&Ms?"
"He did," Beca said, grinning. "But I convinced him that you make the best Christmas cookies ever, and he could help decorate them. So, now he and Sophie want you to teach them how to make Christmas cookies and decorate them so they can leave some for Santa."
"It's lucky for you that tomorrow is Saturday and Christmas Eve," Chloe said. "You'll be home and can be my teacher's aid when we bake the cookies."
"Why?" Beca whined. "What did I do?"
"Dylan is definitely your son," Chloe said, shaking her head. "He whines just like you."
"Hey!" Beca said just as Dylan ran into the room.
"Mama, Sophie won't let me watch what I want to watch on TV," Dylan whined.
"She was watching first," Beca said. "You can have a turn when she's done."
"Fiiiiinnnnnneeee," Dylan said and ran off.
Chloe looked at Beca, smirking.
"Shut up," Beca said as Chloe laughed.
~~ 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~~
The next morning, Chloe woke and eased out of Beca's arms. Beca stirred long enough to roll over to her side of the bed and pull the blankets over her head. Chloe smiled as she made her way to Beca's side of the bed.
"Beca," Chloe said softly. "Time to get up."
"Don't wanna," Beca mumbled from beneath the blankets.
Chloe grabbed the blankets and pulled the down, laughing as Beca made grabby hands to try and pull them back up.
"Not today, sunshine," Chloe said. "You promised the kids we'd make cookies with them."
"No," Beca said. "I promised the kids you'd make cookies with them."
"This is a partnership, babe," Chloe said, looking down at Beca. "So, get your lazy butt up and help me make breakfast so we can start our cookie baking."
"Fine, but first," Beca said, sitting up and grabbing Chloe, and throwing her down onto the bed.
Chloe giggled as Beca leaned down to kiss her. Chloe held the back of Beca's neck and deepened the kiss.
"Mama, mommy," Dylan cried out as he ran into their room.
Beca sighed and looked up at Dylan. She moved off Chloe, and Chloe sat up behind Beca and put her chin on Beca's shoulder so she could see Dylan.
"Dyl, what have we told you about coming into our room without knocking?" Beca asked.
"Not to do it?" Dylan said, wearing a Mitchell smirk that Beca would have been proud of if he hadn't just interrupted her and Chloe.
"Boy, you are something else," Beca said, shaking her head.
"Did you want something, Dyl?" Chloe asked from behind Beca.
"Me and Sophie are hungry," Dylan said.
"We'll be down in a few minutes to make breakfast," Chloe said.
"Okay," Dylan said, rushing out of the room, yelling, "Sophie, they're up!"
Chloe chuckled and kissed Beca's shoulder.
"He is so your son."
~~ 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~~
"Are you two done?" Chloe asked.
"Yes, mommy," Sophie said.
"I am," Dylan said.
"Go get dressed while mama and I clean up the kitchen," Chloe said. "When we're done, our cookie baking class will start, okay?"
"Okay, mommy," Sophie and Dylan said and then left the kitchen.
"Do you have everything you need to make the cookies?" Beca asked as she cleared the dishes from the counter.
"Are you freely volunteering to go to the store on Christmas Eve?"
"I don't want to," Beca said as she started to load the dishwasher. "But, I will if I need to."
"Let me do a quick check and see," Chloe said.
Beca poured herself another cup of coffee as Chloe checked the pantry.
"Looks like you're going to the store," Chloe said. "We need flour and sugar. We have some but not enough."
"Keep looking and give me a list when you're done," Beca said. "I think most of the stores that are open will be closing early, so there won't be time to go again later."
"Give me ten minutes," Chloe said, hurrying to check her supplies again.
Beca ran upstairs to grab her wallet, phone, and a light jacket and went back downstairs. As soon as she walked into the kitchen, Chloe was handing her the completed list. Beca looked it over.
"Would you mind taking Dylan with you?" Chloe asked. "He's been a real pill the past couple of days, and I don't want him to do something that gets him punished the day before Christmas."
"I'll take him," Beca said. "Call or text me if you find you missed something."
"I will," Chloe said, pulling Beca into a kiss. "Thanks for doing this."
"No problem," Beca said and left the kitchen.
Beca walked over to the staircase and yelled, "Dylan! Grab a jacket, you're going to the store with me."
"Okay," Dylan called back.
Beca stood at the foot of the stairs, waiting for Dylan. He came running out of his room.
"Slow down there, bud," Beca said.
"Sorry, mama," Dylan said as he slowly came down the steps.
After a quick kiss from Chloe, Beca and Dylan were on their way.
~~ 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~~
Two hours later, Chloe was pacing back and forth in the kitchen. Sophie sat at the counter, watching her.
"I'm going to try calling your mama again," Chloe said, grabbing her phone from the counter.
Just then, Chloe heard the garage door rumble open. She quickly set her phone down and ran to open the door to the garage. She waited in the doorway until Beca turned the engine off. Beca looked at her through the window, and Chloe could tell she was upset.
"What happened?" Chloe asked as soon as Beca got out of the car.
"Your son happened," Beca said as Chloe reached the car.
Chloe grabbed a bag from the backseat and looked at Dylan.
"What did you do, Dylan?" Chloe asked as he got out of the car.
"Let's go inside so he can tell you," Beca said.
Chloe followed Beca and Dylan into the kitchen, setting her bag on the counter.
"So, what happened?" Chloe asked. "You've been gone a long time."
"Go ahead," Beca said, looking at Dylan. "Tell mommy what you did."
"I ate some cookies," Dylan said. "And mama had to pay for them."
"What?" Chloe asked, perplexed. "You bought him cookies when we're planning to make cookies?"
"That's not what happened," Beca said. "He wouldn't listen to me when I told him to stay close to me. He wandered off, so. I went looking for him, and by the time I found him, he had eaten about half a dozen cookies. But that's not the worst part. He opened six different cookie boxes from the bakery department and ate one cookie from each of them; the manager had me pay for all of them. And they weren't the boxes of just one dozen cookies, they were the extra large party-sized boxes."
"Dylan Timothy Beale," Chloe said. "You know better. What were you thinking?"
Dylan shrugged. "I was thinking I wanted cookies."
Chloe breathed in sharply through her nose. "Go to your room, young man. We'll be up to deal with you later. Sophie, go play while mama and I talk."
"Is Dylan in trouble?" Sophie asked.
"Yes," Chloe said. "He's in big trouble."
As soon as Sophie was gone, Chloe turned to Beca and asked, "Why do I feel like there's more to the story?"
"Because there is," Beca said. "After spending almost sixty dollars on a bunch of cookies, I didn't want or need, I had to take them with me. I wasn't going to bring them home because that would have been rewarding Dylan for his bad behavior. So, after thinking about it, I decided to donate them to a nearby homeless shelter that caters to families. I figured the kids would enjoy them."
"That was a nice thing to do," Chloe said, smiling softly.
"That's not the end of it," Beca said. "I made Dylan go in with me to donate the cookies. It was eye-opening; there were so many families with kids there, Chlo. As soon as I said we wanted to donate the cookies, the kids came running; they were so excited. The person who runs the shelter calmed them all down and said the cookies would have to wait until after dinner."
Chloe saw Beca getting emotional and pulled her into a hug as Beca continued to speak.
"When I looked closer at the kids, they all had this sad, defeated look in their eyes. It got to me, and I wanted to do something to help them. Dylan and I left, and I went straight to the first ATM I could find and took out as much cash as I could. Then I went to a nearby pizza place and ordered like thirty pizzas to be delivered to the shelter. I took the money to the shelter and told them about the pizzas. The manager thanked me profusely. I told her I wished we could do more. She said we could always volunteer to help serve meals. So, tomorrow Dylan and I have the lunch shift and will be serving lunch to everyone at the shelter."
"You're a good woman, Beca Mitchell," Chloe said, kissing Beca's temple. "I think Sophie and I will join you and Dylan tomorrow."
"I'd like that," Beca said. "I'm sure the shelter will appreciate it."
"Since the kids and I are off all week, maybe we can volunteer each day," Chloe said. "I doubt they get too many volunteers during the week."
"That sounds good," Beca said. "And I can help on weekends."
Beca got quiet; Chloe hugged her tighter.
"I guess we should go deal with Dylan," Chloe said. "I think his punishment should be one week of no TV or video games."
"I agree," Beca said. "What about making cookies? We promised Sophie we would; she doesn't deserve to be punished because of what Dylan did."
"You're right," Chloe said. "After we talk to Dylan, you, me, and Sophie will make cookies."
"Let's do this," Beca said, taking Chloe's hand and leaving the kitchen.
~~ 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases ~~
One hour later, Sophie, Chloe, and Beca were laughing as they made cookies.
"Mama?" Dylan called from the doorway.
Sophie and Chloe looked at Dylan; Chloe then looked at Beca.
"Yeah, Dyl?" Beca said.
"I'm sorry for what I did," Dylan said. "Can I help make cookies with you guys?"
"Sure, Dyl, you can help," Beca said, smiling. "Get over here."
Chloe smiled at Beca as Dylan joined them.
"We're decorating now," Sophie said, holding up the cookie she was decorating. "See?"
"It looks like mama," Dylan said, causing Sophie to laugh.
"Hey," Beca said. "You take that back."
"Nope," Dylan said, shaking his head. "It does look like you."
Beca took her finger and smeared cookie icing on Dylan's cheek.
"Now you look like a cookie," Beca said, laughing.
"It's like having three kids!" Chloe said, trying not to laugh.

Chapter preview below - Read the rest at ao3
"What?" Chloe asked rather innocently. Beca's response was to simply look her up and down before giving Chloe a sympathetic look. "You're dressed casually," Chloe pointed out. Beca was wearing a chic grey sweater, the materials it was made from and the tag on in probably cost more than Chloe's whole ensemble. In her arms, neatly folded, hung a cream-colored blazer that paired well with her cream-colored pants. Chloe wasn't sure what they were made off but they both looked sleek, stylish, and comfortable. The shoes Chloe already knew were expensive. It was a brand she didn't know off, but the insignia had caught her attention – Loro Piana – and it was enough to prompt Chloe to look it up before. Beca kept the make-up and accessories simple, with her hair styled back. This was casual for Beca. Not undercover, regular street clothes casual. But her own personal level of casual, one that screamed affluence over anything else.
Chloe on the other hand was wearing her favorite black suite and skirt ensemble that she wore to court a few times now. "I look good in this," Chloe insisted.
"I know, but… Look, Chloe. We're replacing a man and a woman, one of whom had the audacity to book the entire gallery for a private affair for two, I think it's safe to assume it's a date. And if one of them is rich enough to make private art gallery dates a thing…" Beca started to explain.
"This really won't pass?" Chloe asked.
Beca looked at her wristwatch. "We still have time, and I know just the place, come on."
"Just the place for what?" Chloe had asked. But Beca didn't answer.
Instead, they found themselves in Beca's car, with Beca driving silently to some chic, invitation only type of boutique Chloe didn't even know existed. Beca had a light smile on her lips, looking a little proud of herself. When they got there, she had explained that she called ahead of time – so she already planned this from the start, Chloe thought to herself – before Chloe found herself whisked off into a dressing room to try out a few pre-selected outfits for her.
Chloe tried very hard not to chuckle, every time she had to march out and gauge Beca's reaction, "modelling" the outfits she had picked out for her.
Beca was fairly easy to read in that instance. Chloe knew she wasn't convinced every time she pressed her lips together and quirked an eyebrow, and so Chloe would march back and try the next one. Meanwhile Beca was busy looking at whatever was in the black velvety boxes brought out to her by the shop's attendants.
When Chloe stepped out with the third to the last of her pre-selected outfits on – a she knew she had found a lovely black dress with a black blazer that hugged around her figure just right – she knew she found the winner. Beca looked speechless for a minute before she motioned for one of the sales attendants to come back with a big black velvet box. Beca gingerly picked up the necklace inside. The chains were made of gold and attached to the intricate design of the pendant. Beca walked up behind Chloe and placed the necklace around her neck, careful not to touch Chloe directly. Chloe could pick up the scent of Beca's perfume, a delicate mix of floral scents. There was a softness to it that Chloe paired with the elegant yet soft casual style that Beca had for the night. Chloe couldn't help herself blush a little. It almost felt like this fake date was real.
A part of her wished it was.
Beca hummed her approval as soon as she clasped it close, proud of her own choices. The sales attendant walked up to Beca, the box still open. That's how Chloe saw the pair of earrings that matched the pendant of the necklace. Chloe's fingers briefly brushed against Beca's own as she reached for one of the earrings inside the box, sending electricity from where they momentarily touched racing through her veins, down her pulse, throughout her own being.
"Are you sure about this?" Chloe asked with a gulp, trying to squash the butterflies that were starting to wake in stir inside of her. "You're spending quite a lot for one 'date.' This might be too much."
Beca shook her head. "Not at all," she replied before looking away. She watched as Chloe put the earrings on herself. "They were made you," Beca then said rather awkwardly, turning around and walking on away before urging Chloe to follow her out.
This was bad, they have a mission to complete, but Chloe couldn't help but notice how they were both acting like teenagers
Still, a part of Chloe's mind was indulging in maybes and fantasies. Of how things would have been if she had met Beca in a different circumstance.
Beca briefly smiled and let Chloe put the earrings on by herself. Chloe kept looking back at her through the mirror but Beca's expression had become unreadable in that moment. She couldn't help but wonder if her – well, their – beloved consigliere shared the same thoughts as her.

Hey, I don’t usually send prompts, since I’m just really happy for any authors still writing Bechloe. Especially my favourite ones. And you happen to be one of my favourites. But since you posted a prompt list, I thought I’d show how much I genuinely love your stories and would be happy to read anything you’ll create out of prompt No 23.
Thank you 💚💚💚
Thank you so much for sending this! I'm sorry it took me so long to get to.
This is a perfect example of what happens when I start writing something with absolutely no plan and no idea what's going to happen next 😅
23. “Did I do something to upset you?”
Prompt taken from here.
Read on AO3
-
“Did I do something to upset you?” Beca asked, her thumb scratching at the label on her beer bottle, her eyes looking anywhere other than Chloe.
“No,” Chloe said, frowning and forcing herself to look up from her phone. “What makes you ask that?”
Beca shrugged and took a drink. “You’ve been… off with me,” Beca said, searching for the word. “Quiet.”
They were in their tiny kitchen, in their tiny apartment. Beca was leaning against the counter, and Chloe sat at the island. She had been engrossed in her phone since returning from work, and all of Beca’s efforts for conversation had fallen flat.
“It isn’t you,” Chloe said, standing and getting her own beer from the fridge. “It’s nothing.”
Beca sighed and rubbed the heel of her hand into her eye. She was tired, a headache had been slowly building for the past few hours, and the beer wasn’t exactly helping.
“Are you having second thoughts?” Beca asked. She looked calm and relaxed on the outside, but the crack in her voice betrayed just how scared she was to ask that question.
“Second thoughts about what?” Chloe asked, popping the cap off her beer and returning to her chair. Her phone buzzed on the island, and Chloe fought the urge to pick it up.
“About us. About me,” Beca said, and she chanced a look at Chloe, hoping to gauge her reaction.
“Are you serious?” Chloe asked. “Baby, no. No, of course I’m not.”
Beca’s shoulders slumped with relief, and Chloe hurriedly got out of her chair so she could put her arms around her.
“Why would you ask that?” She asked, feeling Beca take a steadying breath against her. “Why would you think it?”
“What else was I supposed to think?” Beca asked. “Everything was great and then it wasn’t, and the only thing that’s changed is that we became, like, official.”
Chloe ended their hug and cupped Beca’s face in her hands.
“I’m crazy about you,” Chloe said. “I always have been, and us becoming a couple hasn’t changed that. It isn’t you that’s upset me, I promise.” She kissed Beca on the forehead and then softly on the lips.
Beca felt herself melting slightly, the way she always did when Chloe kissed her, but she pulled back after a few seconds because she still needed answers.
“Then what is it?” Beca asked. “If it wasn’t me then someone else must have upset you, and if that’s the case I need to know who to fight.”
Chloe laughed and took hold of Beca’s hand, tugging it gently until she followed her into the living room.
“It’s… You know things with my Mom have always been a bit rocky, right?” Chloe said as they took a seat on their battered sofa.
“Yeah,” Beca said. “What did she do?”
“I told her about us,” Chloe said. “And I thought… You know, it was one of the few things she never had a problem with. Who I dated didn’t really matter to her, as long as I was still getting good grades, still thin, still pretty, you know, whatever. At least… I thought it didn’t matter to her. Apparently it does now. Apparently now that I’m almost thirty and still,” Chloe made air-quotes with her fingers, “‘messing around with girls instead of finding a husband and starting a family’ she has a problem with it. She thought me being bi was just some attention-seeking teenage thing that I’d grow out of. She can’t actually stand the idea that I’ve fallen in love with a woman who I plan to settle down with and-” Chloe cut herself off as she realised what she’d just said, her hand flying up to her mouth.
A silence stretched out between them and Beca reached out to take one of Chloe’s hands.
“Fallen in love with, huh?” Beca asked. Her voice was soft, there were tears in her eyes, and she had the hint of a smile on her lips.
“Please don’t freak out,” Chloe said. “I know it’s soon, I don’t need to hear it back, it just slipped out-”
Beca cut her off before she could carry on rambling, and she pressed her lips against Chloe’s.
“I love you too,” Beca said. “It might be soon to other people, but we’ve been dancing around this for ten years, Chloe. What’s the point in waiting when we both feel it?”
Chloe let out something between a laugh and a sob. “I’m sorry I made you doubt, even for a second, how I feel about you. I’m sorry you thought there was a chance I could ever have regrets or second thoughts about us. I love you. And I didn’t mean for it to slip out like that, I thought it would be way more romantic when I first said it, but I’m glad it’s out there now.”
“I’m sorry I doubted you,” Beca said. “And I’m sorry that your Mom sucks.”
Chloe laughed and wiped her eyes. “Me too. She’s been blowing up my phone for days, texting me pictures of single guys in her church, and I think… I think I might be done. She’s been chipping away at me for years, trying to take away all the bits she didn’t like, trying to fit me into this mould and I’m…” Chloe took a breath. “She doesn’t get any more of me.”
Beca let out a shaky breath and pulled Chloe into her arms. “I’m so happy to hear you say that,” she said. “Your Mom, she… She terrifies me. It terrifies me what she can do to you. What she’s already done.”
“I didn’t even realise she was doing it,” Chloe said. “For the longest time, I thought that was what love was. She wasn’t all bad. She still isn’t. It’s hard to separate the bad from the good when everything she did was with a smile. It’s not like she yelled, or hit me, she just… Her tone of voice was always sweet and kind and then you’d suddenly feel like you’d been stabbed with something sharp and not know where it came from.”
“Abuse with a smile is still abuse,” Beca said, holding her tighter, scared she might suddenly slip away.
“I don’t know that I’d call it abuse,” Chloe replied. “But, yeah, I know. It just… It makes it hard to hate her.” She swallowed and when she spoke again, her voice was watery. “I should… I need to tell her to stop. To give her one last chance to accept me as I am, or else I’m done.”
Beca ended their hug. She cupped Chloe’s face in her hands, mirroring their position from earlier, and she swept away the tears on her cheeks with her thumbs. “I don’t think she deserves a final chance,” Beca said. “But if you want to offer her one, then I’ll support you. I’ll do whatever you need me to.”
Chloe placed her hand on Beca’s arm and closed her eyes, savouring the feeling of being held. Of being loved.
“I know you will,” Chloe said. “Thank you. Thank you for being patient and for showing me what real love feels like.”
“Thank you for showing me the same.”
With a shaky breath, Chloe pulled out her phone. “I guess it’s now or never, right?”
Beca took hold of her hand. “I’m right here with you. I love you.”
Chloe squeezed her hand and closed her eyes, forcing herself to take a calm breath. “I love you too,” she said. She called her Mom’s number and held the phone to her ear. It felt like each ring lasted a lifetime, but then she finally answered.
“Hi Mom. I’ve got something I need to tell you.”

Pitch Perfect SpookFest 2022 - Day 6
Riddle Box
Summary: Beca and Chloe's two daughters are spending the night away from home. Sophie, the older of the two, gets upset, and the moms have to go pick her up and comfort her.
[A/N: Sorry it's so short and not spooky, but I struggled with an idea for this prompt. This came to mind, so I went more family fluff than spooky.]
Beca and Chloe were basking in the after-sex glow as they snuggled together in bed. It was the first night since Sarah was born that they could have some alone time without Sarah or Sophie interrupting them.
"Remind me to send Aubrey and Stacie flowers tomorrow," Beca whispered to Chloe. "Taking both the girls for the night was nice of them. It's been an amazing night."
"I believe I may have had something to do with that," Chloe mumbled as she sat up and straddled Beca's waist. "I can give you a reminder if you want."
"I want," Beca said, leaning up to accept Chloe's kiss.
Chloe deepened the kiss and eased her total weight down onto Beca.
"Mmmm," Beca moaned.
Beca slid her hands down Chloe's back and pressed Chloe into her as she thrust her hips into Chloe's.
Chloe pulled back from the kiss when her phone started ringing.
"Ignore it," Beca said, kissing Chloe's chest.
"It might be Brey," Chloe said, getting off Beca.
Beca let out a soft whine as Chloe answered the call.
"What's up, Brey?"
Chloe listened and looked over at Beca.
"We'll be right there," Chloe said and ended the call.
"What's wrong?" Beca asked, climbing out of bed and grabbing her clothes.
"Sophie had a bad dream, and they can't calm her down," Chloe said, grabbing her clothes as well. "I could hear her in the background, and she is really upset."
"Let's go," Beca said as she put on her shoes.
Chloe slipped on her shoes, and the two left their room.
"I'll drive," Beca said as she grabbed her keys from the keyring by the door.
~~ Pitch Perfect SpookFest 2022 - Day 6 ~~
Beca parked the car in the driveway and got out. She could hear Sophie's screams and hurried to the door with Chloe right behind her.
Stacie had been watching for them and opened the door just as they reached it.
"I'm sorry we had to call," Stacie said loudly to be heard over Sophie's screams. "And, now Sarah's awake, too."
"It's okay," Beca said as she and Chloe rushed past her to get to their daughters.
"I got Sophie," Beca said, hurrying over to Sophie.
Aubrey was holding Sarah and trying to calm her down.
"Mama," Sophie cried out, holding her arms up to Beca.
Beca picked her up and hugged her. "I'm here, baby. Mommy and I are here."
"Sophie won't tell us what's bothering her," Aubrey said, looking exhausted as Chloe took Sarah from her. "We waited as long as we could to call you guys."
Chloe held Sarah and rocked her back and forth.
"Hey, Sarah," Chloe said, looking down at the crying six-month-old. "It's okay, sweetie. Shhh. Mommy's got you."
Beca wiped Sophie's face as Sophie sniffled and hiccuped.
"It's okay, Sophie," Beca said, sitting on the sofa and holding Sophie on her lap. "Can you tell mama what's wrong?"
"I don't" sniffle "want" sniffle "you and" hiccup "mommy to da-da" sniffle "die."
Beca looked at Chloe, and Chloe looked at Beca. Chloe walked over and sat next to Beca so she could talk to Sophie.
"Why do you think we're going to die?" Chloe asked.
"I heard Aunt Bwee say you were," Sophie said, sniffling through her words.
Chloe and Beca immediately looked at Aubrey and Stacie. The couple looked back at them dumbfounded; they had no clue what Sophie was talking about.
"I don't-" Aubrey began and stopped. She looked at Sophie. "Sophie, what did you hear me say?"
Sophie sobbed and buried her head in Beca's chest. Bella, who had been quietly standing by and watching, walked over to Sophie and softly asked, "Do you want me to tell them?"
Sophie turned her head to look at Bella and nodded.
"While we were playing my Riddle Box game, mama asked mommy if she remembered playing a more grown-up version while they were in college," Bella told the four women.
"Oh," Aubrey gasped. "I remember now."
"So, what else did you say?" Beca asked, looking over at Aubrey.
"I, uh, I mentioned that you and Chloe nearly died after one of the riddle challenges," Aubrey said. "And that you were probably dying the same way tonight." Aubrey blushed as she added, "I was just making a joke, and I didn't realize Sophie would take it to mean that you'd really die."
Beca blushed, and Chloe smirked as they thought back to what Aubrey was referring to. Stacie laughed but sobered quickly at the glare Beca shot her.
Aubrey walked over to kneel in front of Beca. She put her hand on Sophie's back and leaned in to kiss the girl's cheek.
"I'm sorry I upset you, Sophie," Aubrey said, looking the young girl in the eye. "I was just kidding around. As you can see, your moms are both very much alive."
Sophie lifted her head and looked at Beca and Chloe.
"You not die?" Sophie asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"No, baby," Chloe said. "We didn't die. Now, can you tell Aunt Brey you forgive her; she did say she was sorry."
Sophie sniffled once, smiled, and threw her arms around Aubrey. "I forgive you, Aunt Bwee!"
Aubrey hugged her back, whispering, "Thank you, Sophie. I love you."
"I love you, too," Sophie replied. She then reached out and pulled Beca and Chloe into a family hug. "And I love you, mommy and mama!"
"We love you, too, baby," Chloe said.
"What about me?" Stacie asked with a pout.
Sophie rolled her eyes, causing Stacie to laugh and look at Beca.
"She is definitely your daughter," Stacie said.
"I love you, too, Aunt Tacie," Sophie said.
"Thank you, Sophie," Stacie said.
"Sorry for all the fuss," Beca standing with Sophie still in her arms. "It's late, and we should get these two home."
"Thanks for taking the girls," Chloe said, standing with Sarah in her arms. "I'm sorry it had to end so…abruptly."
"We're sorry, too," Stacie said. "We'll give you a raincheck and try for another sleepover soon."
"That's a good idea," Aubrey said. "You guys drive safe, and we'll talk to you later."
Chloe had turned to tell Bella goodnight, but the girl was no longer in the room.
"Where's Bella?" Chloe asked.
"She went back to bed a few minutes ago," Stacie said.
"Okay," Chloe said. "Make sure you tell her we said goodnight."
"We will," Stacie said. She waved as Beca and Chloe carried their two girls to the car, calling out a final "Goodnight."

Hi Barb! You said that you like musicals, although these are series have you seem Glee, Pitch Perfect, Big time rush, etc?
Glee - I've seen a few episodes when i was younger and decided that it wasn't my thing. I disliked the mc too much. And the overly convoluted love webs teen dramas have aren't really my thing anyways. Especially at the time it was running, which was when i was in elementary/early high school. Those were my anime weeb dayz. I look up the song numbers tho! Especially the ones with Santana. Naya Rivera was amazing, may she rest in peace.
Big Time Rush - i am so so sorry but it wasn't my thing either. I was more of a Jonas(the series) kinda gal when it came to kid-friendly sitcoms starring a boy band.
Pitch Perfect - oh anon. You have no idea how obsessed i used to be with pitch perfect. The crush i had on anna kendrick... I used to annoy my whole family so bad bcuz id watch the movies almost every week at home. I was down that bad. The Bechloe fics i used to read were so old i used to read them in fanfiction.net. i made a Bechloe fic too but i never posted it anywhere.
