On this day, Bataan fell. Filipino and American forces in the peninsula, after relentless attacks, surrender to the Japanese.
In commemoration of the brave actions of the men who fought in the Bataan, the Philippines marks the day as Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor).

08272022 • took a day trip to bataan and it was really fun; we ended up not pushing through with las casas, so we visited the dambana ng kagitingan instead - being back there felt like such a fever dream kasi i remember being there for a fieldtrip back in either gradeschool or highschool and it was really nice to go back kasi i appreciate and understand everything else even more now
