And then this Happened, Wildfire smoke to the east held back the sun & I started to wonder if these clouds would just fade to grey. I turned away and shot a few of the blue skies to the south, and then looked back over my shoulder to see the sky lighting up. This turned into a real light event which lasted quite some time. It was so worth getting up, and I'm really glad that I looked back! The Milky Way wheels above a Pahranagat-style anthropomorphic figure in the Basin and Range National Monument. Thought to be 3,000 to 5,000 years old, these anthropomorphic figures are associated with the first hunter-gatherer cultures to inhabit this part of the American West, particularly the Pahranagant Valley in southern Nevada.
