Hakdfbvahskvksfkvsfs hi, Bany!!! It is!!! You're invited to the party regardless. Look, there's even some cake for you!

Having a body again was almost too much, even with the host’s own mind locked away before she could lash the Core with more thunderclap-deafening fear-pain-fear-pain-hate.

Mammalian, too hot, too air-choked without the freedom of gills or skin-permeable breath, too oddly-balanced, with no tail to speak of.

Invigorating. The Core felt more alive than it had in fifteen thousand years, like it truly had conquered death rather than simply survived under its siege.

... It was increasingly obvious how young the host was, even beyond her terrified clamor within the Collective after they’d completed the download, however. Because it turned out that Wit was... short.

It had never felt this... small, before.

“Must you loom so close?” it grumbled without looking back at the presence that shadowed it like a heron swooping over a village. “We are working.”

There was only one amphibian that was granted access to the Core’s sanctuary, where it put the host’s surprisingly nimble fingers to use by building a weapon that would actually fit in them.

“Of course.” King Andrias’s voice rumbled quietly through the cable-tangled cavern, like a storm rolling in; and like a storm, it made all the hairs on the back of the Core’s neck stand on end. “I just think... why not leave it up to the royal engineers? Surely there are matters more deserving of your attention.”

“We have a body, and we intend to use it, Andrias,” the Core snapped back, whipping their head around to face him with moon-red pupils blown wide.

Already on edge, the Core jerked back around and swore when it seared their fingers on the spark-catcher lying exposed on their work table. The scent of scorched flesh slithered beneath their nose like a memory.

“My lord?” A four-fingered hand reaching below the Core’s line of vision, large enough to crush a mortal frog like the insects they were.

Pain, and the memory of pain. Instinct remembering the threat of death, and heat shrieking at it to run away from something before its biological operating system could even begin to shut off the scrolling thought-code.

Involuntarily the Core reached back to grab the half-finished blowtorch-dagger, searing scar-lines tracing across their chest and back burning as it moved.

Burning, searing, the scent of charred skin- this body insisted, with tremendous violence, that it belonged to Marcy Wu, and that it remembered.

And with that tremendous violence, they slashed the dagger across the king’s encroaching palm.

He howled, lurching back in shock.

“Do not touch me!” the Core snarled, dull teeth bared in a blunt imitation of a giant salamander’s threat. The back of their legs banged into the work table as they backed up.

What did this... this human creature do to us!?

39. Are there any concepts for this OC that you have yet to share or have considered making? Are there any you need help developing or wish to know better? Share your thoughts.

i know i need to share at some point what his hotel looks like and what his horror movies look and are like. i need to also show how he interacts with the other characters and background stuff about him that i want to get to in due time. i'm also not sure of a lot of simple things like his favorite things (HELL, i don't even know what his favorite food is LOL)

i also have him have some slight ties to subcon that i need to explore at some point but i'm still mostly thinking about them khdbbkha

though i'm very very excited about some of the stuff i do hope to share someday >:)))

there actually are!!! my sister has a bird director of her own that he is somewhat besties with (but like they're besties in the way that they care about and die for each other but also wouldn't hesitate to kill one another. u know how it is) and nicole is often seen at his hotel and working for him as a singer at the hotel's lounge or taking care of tasks he has her do (since she stays at his hotel a lot when she has no place to go)

mice (my sister) and i also like to joke about him sometimes having to look after our subcon dweller kids (wolfie and wormie) and them just jumping on the hotel beds and stealing all the breakfast foods as snacks or playing in the pool. we joke about snatcher contractually obligating him to babysit them for a while since wolfie and wormie can be a bit of a handful sometimes. he probably sometimes has to look after some of the minions sometimes too LOLLLL

my other ocs he's acquainted with but they don't know each other much beyond that. i know he's probably met phillip and amor a few times since they work for conductor and grooves respectively, and he's met the other directors a few times before. rin has probably treated some injuries before for him. amaryllis would be familiar with him but i'm not sure they ever met since she's often busy with her babies and work. maria has never met him i don't think unless she went to his hotel once.

Apparently I have twice used the trope of hugging someone and telling them that they're choosing them above all else, with nearly the exact same vernacular both times so.

🍇 Is there a particular scene/episode/book/etc that you want to just write a million fics about, over and over? Which one?

i really like thinking about how lemel and tev become such beloved friends in different aus and life circumstances. since what connects them is not attraction, it's always a brand new puzzle as to what makes them like each other and want to stick with each other in each different iteration when they have different contexts. so it's a story i can think of telling over and over and over. not really a fanfic specific answer, but that's the thing i repeat the most

🍍 What kind of AUs do you like? Are there any AUs you hate or just generally have beef with?

tbh i'm not sure if there's any particular set of aus i gravitate toward. it more relates to how well the characters fit into the context of it and what that au brings out for their narratives. i will say, baleful polymorph is fun and generally always a winner for me tho.

i DEFINITELY have beef with some aus tho, such as soulmate aus that aren't modified to accommodate platonic or loveless aromanticism. not super into like, period/regency setting aus. don't mind original period pieces, but for some reason, i wouldn't really pick it as an au. that one's not really beef, just a preference.
