my neighbor has all these plants that keep getting blown off her balcony, like at least a half dozen so far, a whole bunch of fledgling greens in terracotta pots that fall twelve feet to their doom.
but what she doesn’t know is that most of them survive, rooting in the soil underneath, growing and blooming there. she doesn’t know her wayward zinnia somehow managed to make it into a pot of mine with a dead lavender, that what’s growing there now isn’t even what I planted, that I’ve been watering a guest.

This actually isn't going to be my WIP Wednesday post, but ehhh screw it I'm posting this WIP anyway!
I may or may not have mentioned that I have had my Dragonborn Elyse and Balgruuf kissing on the mind. Except I am not good at drawing kissing. So I drew an almost-kiss. A loving and longing stare. akdjhlkafhajfhskjs I'm melting he's such a handsome man- 💛🥰
Anyway. Actual WIP Wednesday post coming soon.
Once I stop gushing over these two.

The chili plant I started growing from seed last year is doing well and suddenly I've become an old man who randomly walks outside to go look at his vegetable garden except the garden is a singular chili plant that currently has a few flowers on it

haven’t mentioned it much here cause i’ve been so hyper focused on dewey but i’ve also been continuing to work on milo & ranger’s behaviors (namely the barking at noises thing which makes me insane) and they’ll both quiet down with the “quiet” command about 70% of the time, which is cool!…….
………it’s still game over when someone opens the front door though.
i talked to my vet and she suggested i teach “place”. i was planning on doing this for dewey anyway, so that’s next on the list. the goal is that hopefully the dogs will eventually go to their own place when the front door opens versus rushing it (ranger usually initiates this rushing and barking/snarling).
to kinda warm them up, i’ve been having them sit stay when i open a door and “wait” before crossing the threshold. as they’ve gotten better at waiting, i’ve started to release them one at a time by saying their names, which they’ve had more success at than i thought they would. now we are incorporating a slow cross over the threshold versus a burst (milo and ranger specifically are bad about this).
anyway. that’s the current state of things. still managing dew’s guarding well by letting him eat in peace and playing the name game when handing out treats. he has so much energy i wonder if sometimes he becomes so aroused he can’t regulate for himself, which is why we’ve been hitting “leave it” and a sit stay hard lately. just working on building his baby confidence~
all of this is extra hard in a household with two other people who aren’t consistent in carrying the training over though. so i’ve set hard limits on my spouse who i have on management duty any time i’m not home (eliminating the possibility of a negative experience/setback). he’s going to dew’s kinderpup classes with us so that’s a start

if you have native plants in your garden that are kinda weedy to you but that don't really do anything bad to your other plants- leave them, you have no idea what butterfly, moth, bee, etc. will be so grateful you did.

HC:
While there aren't many things or places that give Richard solace, one of the things that does bring him a deep sense of calm and bliss would be his flat's little balcony. It's nothing fancy. It's just a balcony attached to a fire escape, but you'll most likely find Richard there on Sunday mornings (or sometimes during a insomnia-induced night) sketching or even painting with his easel and canvas.
There's something just so relaxing about making something with his hands while hearing the whirr of the city go by. It makes him feel invisible, in a good way; like he's in his own world. In fact, even if Richard constantly questions his own abilities when it comes to art, whenever he paints or sketches on his balcony he doesn't even care about how much talent he has. He just wants to create.

Went to the gardencenter with my mum and shopped some seeds. Tomato, sunflower, lavender and basil. Also i bought some soil. Can't wait for the season to start!
My bf and I love snack tomatoes and they seem to be a classic choice to grow on a balcony. I hope they'll survive our balcony, since there is no roof or anything. But the package said they can be planted in the open so I'll believe it xD
