Coming May 4th, 2024
“I’m sorry…what did you just say?”
“Nick…don’t make me repeat it.”
“No, I need you to. I don’t think I heard you correctly.”
Swallowing the lump in your throat that was starting to build - you couldn’t find it in yourself to look your best friend in the eyes. God, I’m so stupid. There’s no way in hell that Nicholas would be willing to take your virginity….to be the one to teach you all about fucking….let alone to be the one to teach you how to fuck so Matt would want you.
“Nicholas…will you please fuck me?”
“With pleasure.”

author's note: hello hello hello ! the jolly fic i promised last month. on a roll :-) i have a few trips coming up and i wanted to get this sweet lil fic out before i was away from home. i haven't wrote much for jolly and i just really like how this came out. short and sweet, domestic as fuck. as always, i hope you enjoy and feedback is always appreciated !
pairing: joakim karlsson x reader
cross-posted on ao3
word count: 1.9k
cw/tags: fluff, sweet domestic tooth-rotting fluff, established relationship, maybe some angst but it lasts 2 seconds, kissing, ~suggestive~ content, 18+ minors do not interact
Jolly wakes up slowly, a groan slipping from his lips as he stretches his limbs out across the bed. He pauses, realizing the spot beside him was unoccupied and cold, and a frown settles on his lips. Blinking, he sits up and stretches out his limbs again with another groan, looking beside him to confirm that yes, the other side of the bed is definitely empty.
He doesn't panic, no, because he sees the bedroom door has been left ajar only slightly, but enough to let him hear you downstairs. It's a distant sound, muffled, but he can hear the clambering and chattering of pans in the kitchen and the faint hum of music. The frown on his lips slips away and a smile replaces it soon after, heart twisting.
He loves mornings like this with you. With their more than hectic schedule now, mornings like this are few and far in-between, so he tries to never take it for granted. Even though he'd much rather drag you back into bed with him and sleep a few more hours, (he flinches at the time on the clock, 7:15), he throws his legs over the side of the bed and pushes himself up. He hisses as his feet meet the cold floor but braves it, shuffling out of your shared bedroom and down the stairs.
The music gets louder the closer he gets to the kitchen and he's not sure what it is, something easy to listen to early in the morning. Some morning indie playlist you found on Spotify, he's sure. He smiles again when he finds you in sweatpants and an old shirt of his, hair pulled back out of your face. Your back is facing him, humming along to whatever song is playing, and he leans against the wall beside him. Jolly doesn't remember the last time he was able to just... admire you from afar. He's always in your space whenever he's home, the both of you wanting to spend as much time with each other as you can, never leaving each other's side.
He likes seeing you like this. As corny as it sounds, this is the most beautiful he thinks you are. Still sleepy he’s sure, still in your pajamas, hair thrown in a messy ponytail, cooking breakfast for the both of you. It's something he'll never get tired of.
After a solid two minutes of silently watching you, he shuffles over to where you stand and doesn't waste time in wrapping his arms around your middle, lips meeting your shoulder.
"Good morning."
"Was waiting for you to come over here." You hum and instantly melt back into his chest. "Were you just watching me in silence?"
"Maybe."
"Creep."
But he can hear the smile in your voice, which makes him smile, and he presses a kiss to the side of your head before untangling himself from you, leaning against the counter to your right.
"What's on the menu this morning?" He questions, eyeing the eggs in the pan.
"Eggs and waffles. Wanted some turkey bacon with it too, but was deeply disappointed to find out that we were out." You send him a pout before focusing back on cooking.
"Oh, you poor thing. How will you ever survive?" He teases before reaching out to poke your side gently, causing you to squeak. "I’ll make sure to add it to our ever growing list. You still want to do that today, right?"
"At some point." You nod before reaching over to turn the stove off and then reaching for one of the waffle filled plates that were placed behind him - two for you, three for him. "We also need to clean this place up before you leave. The living room makes me want to peel my skin off... and don't even get me started on your studio."
He hums, almost in an afterthought, and watches you plate the eggs. "We have time, love."
"I know, I just..." You trail off, continuing to plate the food and he watches as your brows begin to furrow like they always did when you were in thought.
He reaches up and rubs his thumb in between your brows. "Your face will get stuck like that."
"Shut up." You grumble, but your face relaxes for just a moment. "I just like having the place clean before you leave. Makes it feel better when you're gone."
It's his turn to frown, brows furrowing as he stares at you. He knows it rough when he leaves. Leaving you here all alone while he's off traveling with the band isn’t an easy thing to do. If it was his choice, he'd bring you with him every time, but he can't. You have responsibilities here... and unfortunately, his responsibilities are elsewhere most of the time.
He doesn't leave for another three weeks, though, and usually you're asking him to help clean up around the house the week prior. Something is obviously bothering you.
"What's on your mind?"
You sigh, sitting the spatula down on the counter after you finally finished plating. "I just... this time feels different. Don’t you think?”
Jolly cocks and eyebrow up at you. "How so?"
"I don't know." You shrug and come to stand before him, leaning into him and resting your forehead against his shoulder. His arms wrap around you instantly, pulling you closer to him. "You guys are getting bigger, which is amazing. Don't ever think I hate that because I don't, but... the bigger you get means the more tours you get. The more tours you get means..."
You don't say it, voice trailing off, but he knows what your next words will be. The more tours you get means the less time at home. With you. His frown deepens at that.
"Baby..."
"And I don't want to sound selfish. Seriously, I don't! I'm so fucking proud of you, Joakim. All of you. Some of the most deserving people I've ever met, but I..." You sigh again, almost in defeat, and he feels you press closer to him, voice muffled. "I miss you. More than I usually do. It used to be easier, and it still is because I know you'll always come back, but..."
The silence that follows breaks his heart.
He does remember this last time being away in Europe was a little rougher than normal, constantly thinking about you, wishing you were there with him. It might be because last time they were there you were with him, taking leave from work to join him on their European headliner for this new album. The only thing that really got him through was the fact he knew that when he got home, you'd be right there waiting for him.
"But?"
"But... it just sucks." You pull back just enough to look up at him, a sad smile settling on your lips. "Wish I could just go with you and not worry about anything else.”
"You could," He's quick to respond. "You've always had that option."
"I know." You mumble, face pressing back against his shoulder. "I feel bad, though. Making you support the both of us. Plus, you know how much I hate flying. I couldn't stand it."
Jolly laughs at the tiny groan you let out, probably remembering your flight last year to the UK with him and the rest of the band. You had begged Matt to switch seats with you, so he could be by the window and you in the aisle with Jolly squished between you two. One look out the window - while you were still on the ground - had sent you in a spiral. He remembers having to hold your hand the entire flight, and when it was allowed, lifting up the armrest so you could press yourself into his side. He hadn't minded it one bit, finding it endearing that you put all your trust in him to keep you safe.
"You and flying don't mix well." He teases, hands now rubbing up and down your arms. "But... you know I don't mind providing for you."
"I know you don't."
"And I love taking care of you."
"I know you do." You whine, pulling back again to pout up at him. "But you know I can't let you do that. My brain tells me no."
"Tell your brain to get over it and let your boyfriend take care of you." He leans forward, planting a kiss to the center of your forehead. He feels your arms circle around his middle and he smiles against your skin.
"If only it were that easy." He pulls back to find you still staring at him, but a smile has since replaced the pout on your lips. "This'll only suck for a little bit, then it'll become our new norm and it'll get easier. I'm just cranky about it now, but I know we'll figure it out."
"We always figure it out." He hums. "Just tell me what you need from me to make it easier on you while I'm away, and I'll do it."
"There's nothing you can do.” You pause. “Except, maybe, right now… a kiss could possibly fix my cranky mood."
He watches your gaze drop from his down to his lips, and then back up, your own lips puckering dramatically. Jolly huffs out a laugh before happily obliging and leans down, lips pressing against yours gently. Nothing too crazy, a sweet peck, because he still hasn't brushed his teeth, and he pulls back seconds later.
"I love you." You say happily, eyes fluttering shut briefly.
"I love you, too, baby."
"Alright, I’m not allowed to complain for the rest of the day. Let's eat before all my hardwork gets cold." You step on your tip-toes to press a kiss to his cheek before pulling away entirely, reaching around him for both of your plates. "And maybe after, shower? Then go grocery shopping? The fridge is running on fumes... I think I used the last of the eggs and we have maybe half a glass of milk left."
He perks up at that, following you over to the chairs that sit at the island in the middle of the kitchen, plucking his plate from your hands before settling down in his chair. "A shower, you say?"
"Of course that's the only thing you heard." You deadpan, but he doesn't miss the smirk on your lips.
"Sorry. You know my brain likes to focus on the important stuff."
"Perv." You tease, but the smirk has finally settled on your lips fully. "Does that sound good, though?"
"Mhm. Sounds good to me, love."
"Oh! And maybe later we could go to the thrift store we wanted to check out last week? Hit up some other shops, too."
"Oooh, yes. That sounds like a perfect plan.”
It's almost as if the worry from earlier is forgotten as your conversation continues through breakfast, and when you're finished putting your dirty dishes away and dragging him up the stairs to go shower (among other things), Jolly knows that the two of you will eventually figure it out. He knows you two can weather any storm, just like you have for the last few years, and that these worries won't mean much to the two of you in the future. He knows wherever he goes, you’ll be right there waiting for him, and he hopes you know he’d do the same for you.

FERN'S WIP WEEKEND GAMES
Hey y'all! Let's force each other to work on our WiPs, even if it's just to talk about them or think about them!
EACH WIP WEEKEND RUNS FROM FRIDAY 5PM UTC-5 TO SUNDAY 11:59PM UTC-5
To participate, reblog with up to 5 filenames of your WIPs, and also which games you want to participate in this weekend (example at the bottom of this post).
Each game is basically replying to asks about your WIPs in different ways! For that reason, please make sure to search the reblogs to find other players - send them an ask, keep the game going, force each other to work on their WIPs!
If you see this, you are invited to play, even if you weren't tagged!
There are 3 different games. You can play all of them, or only the ones you like best:
1) Three by Threes: The OG WIP Wednesday game. For each filename you receive in your ask box, reply to the ask with 3 NEW sentences on that WIP. Then, send 3 asks to other WIP Weekend players!
2) Lore Corner: Answer questions about your WIP. It can be anything from headcanons to backstory that you have for your WIP that don't even make it into the fic. Askers - get creative with your questions! (If you are playing Lore Corner, please give a single-sentence description of each of your WiPs so askers have some context)
3) Moodboard Mania: Make a moodboard for your WIP! Askers can also specify a moment or a character-specific moodboard relating to your WIP so that you're not making the same moodboard over and over.
————————
MY WIPS:
• the universe and us in the night (vampire!Jolly x girl!Noah) - Ever romanced your sleep paralysis demon? Ever embraced the void of night? Ever lost your fucking mind? Noah's really going through it in the pandemic.
• rainy ghost (Nicholas x Noah) - Church boy Noah is caught in the closet with the pastor's adult son and is excommunicated, destroying his life and effectively leaving him homeless. Thankfully, Folio's dead distant relative owned a big, spooky mansion on the coast that needs tending. Nobody told Noah about the haunting, though.
• more fae shit (Nicholas x Noah) - In the same universe as strap the wing, but a millenia earlier.
GAMES I'M PLAYING: three by threes, lore corner
Tagging @throughwoodsanddirt @the-way-of-words @cowpokeomens @blessedwithabadomen @poppy-in-the-woods and anyone else who wants to play!

THE UNMAKING OF A WARRIOR — PART VII
Tumblr media
Pairing: samurai/ronin!noah x fem. reader | Words: 11.5k
Chapter tags & trigger warnings: tiny bit of sexual content at the beginning, fluff, subtle talks of dom/sub dynamic, mentions of bondage, torture, nightmares, anxiety, mentions of underage sexual experiences, blade to throat, death threats, blood, mentions of supernatural forces, mentions of Noah having killed people before (sorry, he's a samurai, after all), mentions of pregnancy, angst, cliffhanger at the end whoops. so many things, i'm taking this fic very seriously no joke
Author's note: okay everybody, i've done a bunch of research for this fic and I love learning about different cultures and expanding my knowledge about the world, but the entire thing is obviously historically inaccurate (not that this is exactly a historical fic but anyway), also I don't think people wore sweatpants in feudal Japan, but I can't picture Noah not wearing them, so here you go, a samurai wearing sweatpants. 🤭 I haven't done a second review to check for any last typos or mistakes, so I apologize for that.
Additional useful info: - Kami: japanese word for a deity, divinity, or spirit. - Yakuza: individual involved in criminal organizations, thought to have descended from gangs of ronin (masterless samurai) - Rei and Ren are two different people in the story. Rei we like, Ren we definitely do not like.

THE UNMAKING OF A WARRIOR
PART VII
Waking up to Noah’s serene form beside me felt like a blessing.
His peaceful slumber was a sight I’d seen many times in the dark, when he slept by my side and I sacrificed my own hours of rest just to watch him, knowing that with the dawn, he would be gone.
But this time, watching him held a special tranquility. His young features, usually marked by a furrowed brow, were now softened in repose, free from the burdens of worry that plagued him even in sleep.
During the night, his rest had been disturbed, his subconscious grappling with the lingering echoes of the past few days. Despite the idyllic surroundings we found ourselves in, a part of him remained tethered to the fears and uncertainties of our choices. His dreams were plagued with scenarios of what could have happened days ago, before escaping from my father’s estate. At one point, he tossed and turned so fervently in bed that he flung the sheets off his body. A thin layer of sweat covered his forehead, neck, and chest.
Now that morning had unfolded, and sunlight streamed into our modest dwelling, I found myself drawn to Noah’s profile, his beautiful lines illuminated by the gentle glow. Even while sleeping, his features exuded a captivating allure, making him look even more handsome than he already was. His shirt had shifted during the night, when he found himself trapped in a nightmare, and a glimpse of his abdomen was now revealed to me alongside the scars that marred his warrior skin. A pang of sadness washed over me at the reminder of the trials he had endured, being born into a family of Samurai where the path of battle was but an unavoidable destiny.
My eyes shifted from one ugly scar under his left pectoral to the tattoos adorning his skin.
Noah’s fascination with tattoos had always intrigued me, especially considering the strict code of the Samurai that forbade such adornments. Samurai detested tattoos. Yet, Noah had received his first one at the age of eighteen, during a chance encounter with a group of ronin on the outskirts of the estate. I remember him recounting the tale to me with a mix of trepidation and wonder, describing how he had nearly fled at the sight of the masterless samurai. Yet, he found himself drawn to their stories and the reasons why they had decided to break the Bushido code and now lived in the shadows. A ronin had been the one to ink a small dragon onto Noah’s skin, unaware that Noah would become one of them years later. As he showed the tattoo to me and I traced the red and blue lines with my fingertips, I became aware that he would have to keep it hidden. It terrified me to know what my father would do to him if he found out Noah had stained his skin.
This morning, my fingers traced the same path, sliding down gently from the head of the dragon to its ferocious tail. Noah stirred slightly beneath my touch, though he remained slightly lost in his sleep. I shot a wary glance at his face, and as soon as I saw his eyes remained closed, I moved my fingers to his navel and down, towards the line of hair that descended and disappeared under the waistband of his pants.
He whispered my name, a gentle protest.
“Stop that. It tickles,” he mumbled, his voice coarse.
His words only triggered me to continue my tracing, which made him open his eyes and, in an instant, he had flipped me onto my back, his grin infectious as he pinned me beneath him.
The unmistakable hardness of his morning erection didn’t go unnoticed to me as it pressed against my hip.
“Good morning,” I said quietly, but even with my sweet voice I couldn’t hide my intentions. Noah narrowed his gaze on me, his fingers moving a few strands of hair from my face.
“Good morning,” he replied. “Someone had a good night’s sleep, I see.”
As soon as he said that, I subtly arched my hips, seeking out some friction. Noah’s eyes darkened. With one hand on my hip, he kept me pinned to the mattress, but I was feeling feisty enough and I slid a hand down and inside his sweatpants, making my way beneath his underwear and wrapping my fingers around his hard, thick length.
Locked in a silent exchange of desire, Noah’s eyes bore into mine, a vein beginning to pulse on his neck. Just as I was poised to take things further, to pump him once, laughter from outside shattered the moment, snapping us both back to reality.
Noah immediately flipped back to his side of the bed, both slightly breathless and eager for the privacy we had momentarily lost. We turned our attention towards the balcony door, our sanctuary now breached by the intrusion of the outside world.
We had no idea what time it was, but suddenly we were very aware of the noise outside, the chatter of voices, the chirping of birds, the occasional deer call, and the distant clucking of chickens. I was momentarily disoriented.
As the chaos settled around us, a sense of clarity began to emerge.
We were far from home, —or what home had been—. We were nestled in a humble abode offered by a community we had only just discovered. Surrounded by life in all its vibrant forms, if we got lucky enough, Noah and I could dare to hope for a future together in this place. The laughter of children drifting away outside made me wish with all my might that the opportunity came to us and all the dreams I had with Noah became a reality.
Despite the realization that we still didn’t have the privacy we would like, I wanted to embrace this new reality. To wake up to the symphony of birdsong, the joyous laughter of children, and the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze—these simple pleasures whispered promises of a life yet to be lived.
After composing ourselves and tending to the necessities of the morning, I ventured out onto the porch, greeted by the sweet fragrance of nearby flowers and the soft caress of the morning breeze. In the distance, I spotted Rika and Milla’s children, their playful antics adding a sweet touch to the warmth of our new community.
Near the door, a package caught my eye, it’s presence a tangible reminder of the kindness that surrounded us. Attached to it was a tag bearing Rika’s name. With a grateful smile, I carried the package inside, closing the wooden doors behind me.
As Noah caught sight of me, a softness settled over his features. I could tell he was still living in the short moment we had shared in bed as we woke up.
I carefully read the note attached to the package in my hands,
“I thought these clothes might be useful for now. I hope they fit you. I used to wear them before I got pregnant with my first child. There are some from my husband that might fit Noah.
Rika.”
Surveying the contents of the package, Noah selected a pair of black trousers and a matching tunic, securing his katana at his waist with a belt of the same color as he finished getting dressed. Meanwhile, I found myself staring in awe at the array of dresses Rika had offered, each one an affirmation of her generosity and kindness.
After much deliberation, I chose a delicate white summer dress adorned with tiny blue flowers, its charm a contrast to the uncertainty of our circumstances. But as I held it in my hands and examined it, a sense of determination flooded me. I wanted this to work, and as silly as it sounded, I considered that, by wearing a cute dress, I could give it a start.
However, as I struggled with the intricate straps at the back of it, a sense of frustration took over me, and I found myself longing for the assistance of the maids back at my father’s estate.
Noah appeared behind me. In a heartbeat, his hands covered mine, his touch gentle yet confident.
“Let me,” he murmured, his voice a soothing melody in the quiet of the room as I dropped my hands.
With practiced ease, he skillfully tightened the straps and tied a knot. I held my breath, acutely aware of the precision in his touch.
His proficiency with ropes, honed through years as a samurai, carried with it a weight of history and pain that lingered beneath the surface.
I had witnessed the anguish that haunted Noah’s eyes on those nights we spent entwined beneath the covers, grappling with demons of his past. The torment of inflicting pain upon innocent prisoners that had been tied up with ropes in impossible ways weighed heavily upon him, a burden he bore with a heavy heart. And in those moments of darkness, I knew that I had to find a way to replace the agony with something else. I might not be able to make it disappear, but I could help him deal with it in a different way, build a new memory related to that bondage he was meant to perform on those people considered traitors.
The first time, many years ago when I asked him to tie me up, his horror at my proposal was obvious, and his refusal resolute and unwavering. He got very upset, and I didn’t insist any further that night. But I refused to be deterred, though, and patiently waited for the opportunity to convey the depth of my intentions and why I believed it could help him.
“I’m not asking you to hurt me,” I whispered. “I’m asking you to show me how much you’re capable of loving; to show me that by being completely at your mercy, I’m safe; that beneath the warrior lies a man of compassion and tenderness; that despite everything, you’re a man of good heart.”
It was a gradual journey, fraught with a lot of uncertainty and hesitation. But as Noah discovered the profound emotional bond that the bindings on my body provided, there was no turning back, and soon I found myself bound and completely subjected to him in bed, feeling every one of his touches more intensely than ever, every kiss he placed on every inch of my body more devoted than the last.
The restraints provided by the bindings seemed to ignite the rest of my senses, making my skin tingle and increasing my ability to feel and understand that Noah was mine and I was his. Never, not once, did I fear him. That confidence toppled the last ounce of insecurity that remained in Noah, and since then, we knew that we wouldn’t be able to live without each other.
With Noah, I found a sanctuary where submission was a choice made freely. It had nothing to do with the control that defined my life and that I hated. With Noah I could be honest, and I could submit without fear. And Noah, despite not being able to escape the expectations of his samurai heritage, despite not being able to rid himself of that part of him that yearned for control and dominance, he embraced it when I was in his arms.
When we were with each other, the dynamic was wonderful, and there was no moment when we felt more united than when I let go, surrendered to his mercy.
As I turned around and thanked him for tying the straps of the dress, I noticed that his eyes had darkened, and I understood that the same thoughts had been crossing his mind as he tied the ribbons.
“Beautiful”, he murmured, but more than a sigh, the way he pronounced the word resembled a growl.
With a sheepish smile, I tiptoed to kiss him, my hands pressed against his hard stomach, and for a moment I damned that a few more moments alone together, in that comfortable bed that had been offered to us, had been stolen.
I’d had Noah inside me a couple of days ago, but still, the ache of missing and wanting him was too potent.
Noah parted his lips to kiss me deeper, but a growl from his stomach interrupted us. A hint of embarrassment colored his cheeks as I laughed.
“I’m hungry,” he said.   He traced a strand of hair that fell across my face, his fingers falling to my neck and caressing it in a tantalizing caress. “I could eat you.”
He leaned in to feign a bite at my neck, prompting me to laugh louder. I squirmed under his touch, laughing and letting out little squeals.
It wasn’t as late as we initially thought. When we left the house, traces of dew still lingered on the plants, and some moisture collected on the stone paths.
We walked to the main dining hall, warmly greeting the people who recognized us from the previous day, exchanging good mornings with a wave of the hand or a polite nod. In the dining hall, much like the night before, there weren’t many people, but the same woman who served me dinner the previous night was there, delighted to see me in good spirits and well accompanied.     Noah and I had breakfast in silence, occasionally glancing around, absorbing the details of the place and familiarizing ourselves with the community’s routine. The woman serving the food assured us we could eat as much as we wanted, gesturing with her arms to indicate the abundance of fresh fruit baskets, cereals, and other hot delicacies piled up on a long table at the opposite end of the hall.
I was finishing a cup of hot tea when an elderly couple, around eighty, perhaps,, approached us very slowly, delicate smiles on their wrinkled faces. I exchanged a cautious glance with Noah, unsure how to greet them, whether we should stand up, or if we should stop eating. As soon as Noah made a move to rise from the bench, the woman gestured with her hand and shook her head, then gave him a couple of gentle pats on the shoulder. The encounter didn’t go beyond that.
Not long after, when Rika appeared on the porch leading to the dining hall, she informed us that they were the oldest couple in the community, residing at the top of the hill at the back end of the village, just behind the temple we had seen upon our arrival the day before. They were very quiet and reserved people, and being older, their community tasks had already ceased, and now they spent their time strolling around the village, helping just in whatever way they could and warding off evil spirits.
“They are very wise people,” Rika told us. “If you ever need advice or help, you’ll likely find them at the temple. They take care of keeping it clean and orderly, and often perform rituals for the well-being of the community.”
We were leaning on the veranda of the porch when Rei, the man who’d led us into the village the day before, approached. He greeted Noah warmly and apologized to me for not including me in his tour yesterday, to which I replied that it hadn’t mattered and that I appreciated their concern for me and letting me rest.
I hadn’t finished talking when a gentle brush against my thigh through the porch bars drew my attention, and as I turned around, I was met with the sight of a curious deer lingering near the porch. Its innocent gaze and delicate features captivated me instantly, and unable to resist it, I walked off the porch and onto the stone path, approaching the creature with a mixture of fascination and wonder.
As if sensing my presence, the deer remained still, showing a genuine trust toward me that warmed my heart. Noah, Rei, and Rika observed from the porch.
“They’re quite friendly,” Rika said, her voice carrying a sense of tranquility that matched the peaceful surroundings. “The children love playing with them.”
Indeed, as soon as a group of children noticed me petting the deer, they joined in, their laughter filling the air as they frolicked alongside the gentle creature. It was a scene of pure joy and innocence, a stark contrast to the hardships Noah and I had faced in recent days. It was hard to believe two days ago we had been sleeping in an abandoned and ruined cottage in the middle of nowhere, with barely any food nor water.
As the children gathered around, their eyes wide with wonder, I knelt down beside them, the soft breeze carrying the scent of pine and earth.
“Did you know that deer shed their antlers every year?” I began to explain, my voice soft yet animated. “They use them for protection and to attract mates.”
The children listened intently, their fascination evident as they hung onto my every word. I had always been fascinated by animals, my knowledge about them being nurtured by years of education and exploration. Close to my father’s estate there was a deer sanctuary, a haven where Noah and I met each other on numerous occasions, allowing the creatures to bear witness to the blossoming of our love. “Really?” one of the children exclaimed, their curiosity piqued. He must have been four or five. His cheeks were full and his eyes a sweet light brown. “So, does that mean they have new antlers every year?”
I nodded, delighted by their enthusiasm to learn. “That’s right! In the spring, new antlers start to grow, covered in a soft, fuzzy layer called velvet. And as they grow, they become stronger and more durable.”
The children exchanged excited whispers among themselves, their eyes shining.
Rika watched from the porch, her eyes twinkling with pride at the scene unfolding before her.
“You’re wonderful with children,” she noticed.
I glanced up at her, and just uttered a simple “thank you”, not knowing what else to say to that. When my eyes diverted to Noah, I caught his gaze fixed on me with a newfound intensity. It was as if a sudden realization had dawned on him, a silent acknowledgment of the future we might share together.
Before he said anything, Rei interjected, “It’s very hard to keep them still these days. The children, I mean. All they want to do is run around,” he said. “You seem to have a knack for handling them,” he remarked, his tone gentle yet inquisitive, and then, “Noah told me you’re very skilled at archery.”
“A little,” I replied, somewhat confused at the change of topics.
“She’s very good,” Noah corrected, emphasizing his words with a nod of his head, his words flooding my mind with images from the time I showed Noah my skills and he had been shockingly impressed. I had been sixteen at the time, and I had been able to shoot a 25lb light bow straight into my aiming point at a distance of ten yards.
“My father wanted me to train in the art of archery from a young age,” I explained, with a hint of bitterness in my voice. Talking about my father would always put me on edge after the events that had just transpired.
“You could continue your training here, or if you prefer, you could teach the children,” Rei suggested as the deer at my side fed on some grass growing between the stones. “It would be nice to have someone else to instruct them. The current instructor is getting too old for it.”
“Oh. Um—I don’t know,” I was not expecting such proposal less than twenty-four hours since we’d set foot on this place. “I’d have to think about it. I don’t think I’m good enough for that.”
But Noah’s raised eyebrow told me I didn’t have to be so modest.
Rei continued, “I think they would benefit greatly from your experience and guidance.”
“It would be great,” Rika added. “My husband has always wanted our son to learn how to use the bow.”
Rei insisted, his voice soft but filled with conviction, “the children of our community are always eager to learn new skills. I can’t help but think that, if you’re as good as Noah says, your expertise in archery would be a valuable asset to them, honestly.”
His words sparked a flicker of excitement within me, “You really think so?” I asked, apprehensive.
“Absolutely,” he affirmed, his voice steady and sure. “If you have a gift, the children would be lucky to learn from you.”
But alongside the thrill of possibility, a wave of self-doubt came my way, threatening to extinguish the flame of enthusiasm. What if I wasn’t good enough? What if I failed to inspire the children, or worse, disappointed them? I had never really spent that much time around children, much less teaching them something. Archery was a challenge, far from a simple task. It demanded perseverance through frustration, disappointments, and physical exhaustion.
But as I looked up at Noah again, I saw his unwavering faith in me reflected in the depths of his brown eyes. I found the courage to push aside my doubts and embrace the opportunity before me. With a determined nod, I made up my mind to seize the moment and trust in the strength of my own abilities.
The idea was certainly appealing, and teaching archery to the children would not only allow me to share my skills but also contribute to the community in a meaningful way, something totally different from the future that had waited for me at Ren’s estate if I had married him…
“Well, I... think I would like that,” I concluded.
As we continued our conversation, Rei proceeded to explain in detail how the community worked to sustain itself. Each member contributed in their own way, whether it was teaching skills like archery, gardening, tending to the harvest, fishing, construction, preparing food, or other subjects more related to history, mathematics, and literature. It was a system built on mutual support and cooperation, where everyone played a vital role in ensuring the community thrived.
Rika, sensing her duties calling, excused herself with a warm smile, suggesting that Noah and I explore the town market later. “It’s a lovely place and not far from here,” she added before walking away towards the northwest side of the village. “You can buy anything you need there.”
Following Rei’s lead, we made our way to the Samurai training grounds, where he proudly showed us the disciplined regimen of the warriors just as he had showed to Noah the day before. The purpose of teaching combat wasn’t the same as the one imposed to those born into a Samurai lineage like Noah. While Noah and his kin were bound by duty to bow to authority and dedicate their lives to the service of war, the kids and youngsters that engaged in combat training here at this place did it with the aim of cultivating their physical strength, honing mental discipline, and equipping themselves with skills needed for self-defense, should the need arise. It was a practice rooted in self-reliance and empowerment, rather than obligation and allegiance.
Next to the training grounds, the archery training fields awaited.
Arriving there, I was met with a breathtaking panorama of lush greenery stretching out before me, the distant mountains standing sentinel against the azure sky.
A its center, there was a row of sturdy wooden targets, each with rings painted in red. Along the periphery, racks of polished bows stood in neat rows, the curves catching the sunlight, and nearby, quivers waited with arrows arranged next to them.
It was truly a wonderful place, even though my momentary admiration was broken by Rei’s next words.
“Why don’t you show us what you can do?”
I frowned.
“What?” Immediately, I shook my head. “No. No, I don’t—I don’t think I’m dressed appropriately,” I confessed, feeling a pang of self-consciousness as I looked down at my dress.
“I’ve seen you shoot while dressed in much less appropriate attire,” Noah teased gently, his eyes twinkling.
It took him less than a sentence to convince me to do anything.
Taking a deep breath, I stepped forward, my eyes fixed on the bows. I examined them until I choose one that seemed the most appropriate for my height and the length of my arms. My fingers trembled slightly as they closed around the familiar weight of the bow. For a moment, time seemed to stand still, the world around me fading into insignificance as I prepared myself and focused all my attention on one of the targets ahead.
With a silent prayer on my lips, I drew back the bowstring, feeling the tension build in my muscles with eachsecond. And then, with a swift release, I let the arrow fly, watching with bated breath as it soared through the air with deadly accuracy.
The moment seemed to stretch into eternity, the world holding its breath as the arrow found its mark with a satisfying thud. A rush of exhilaration surged through me, filling every fiber of my being with a sense of triumph and accomplishment.
Turning to face Rei and Noah, I was met with looks of awe and admiration, Noah’s eyes shining with pride as Rei’s watched me with respect. Not even my mother had ever shown so much pride and gratefulness in her daughter.
“Noah was right. You do possess a remarkable talent,” Rei acknowledged. “The children will undoubtedly benefit greatly from the opportunity to learn from you.”
“I would be honored to teach them,” I replied, my voice filled with determination and a new sense of purpose.
As the soft hues of a sunny morning painted shadows around us, Noah and I set out on our journey towards the nearby town, hand in hand, our footsteps light upon the forest path. The air was alive with the symphony of nature, the gentle rustle of leaves and the sweet delicacy of a birdsong.
It was the first time we walked with my hand clutched in his as two people who were free, although a part of me still felt reluctant. I was so used to the ingrained fear that holding Noah’s hand was a crime that even after deciding to go against all the rules of our society, I couldn’t entirely erase the lingering apprehension. I couldn’t shake the feeling that at some point someone would show up, point us out, and make us pay for the “crime” of falling in love.
I was aware that Noah was also grappling with similar anxieties, although he had always been more adept at concealing his fears and worries, of course.
My thoughts were confirmed when, instead of reveling in the liberation of the moment, he diverted our attention to something he had forgotten to mention the night before.
In the backpack my grandmother had given us, at the bottom of it, Noah had found another packet containing a handful of coins and bills. Enough money to get us out of harm’s way for a while longer.
With everything that had happened to us in the last three days, I hadn’t even stopped to think about money. For me, it had never been a problem, but by deciding to run away with Noah, I had also decided to forsake a life of luxury in the castles of the royal families, the fortune that would fall into my hands just for being the daughter of a Shogun, or the inheritance that would be left in my name once my parents were no longer here. Noah and I had nothing. No coins to our name, no possessions but the clothes on our backs. It was a cold reminder of the consequences of our impulsive actions —a samurai and a princess reduced to fugitives, stripped of all the wealth and status that had once defined us.
That just showed how little I cared about money. Still, Noah managed to alleviate some of my unease with the news that at least we had something on our hands, which led me to realize that, in the excitement of setting out to explore the town, I hadn’t thought to take my grandfather’s katana. When I mentioned it to Noah, telling him that I suddenly felt vulnerable and exposed considering we were still being searched for by my father’s army, he made us stop and forced me to look deep into his eyes as he held my face in his calloused hands.
“I don’t want you to feel like you have to carry a weapon with you at all times,” he said. “Maybe you should have taken it today, in case you were going out alone, but you’re not. You’re with me. Nothing is going to happen, and I’ll make sure that from now on, you won’t feel the need to be armed whenever you decide to go somewhere.”
That was sweet, the way he implied that he would give me a life of freedom and absent of fear, but they didn’t entirely dispel my anxiety.
“I’ve got mine,” he said as he noted my angst not subsiding, his thumbs caressing the curve of my cheeks. “I’ll keep us safe, don’t worry.”
Attempting to reassure him more than myself, I nodded, forcing a small smile.
As I started to resume our walk, Noah’s hand clasped my wrist, halting me in place. When I looked up at him, I noticed a special glint in his eyes.
“What is it?” I asked.
“I’m aware I told you how beautiful you are mere hours ago,” he began, his voice a quiet whisper in the forest. The way he was looking at me was tender and adoring, the touch of his touch around my wrist a soothing, honeyed sensation. “But there’s something…” he cleared his throat. “I’ve always wanted to tell you how pretty you look in these dresses,” he continued, more confidence in his voice this time. “Whenever I saw you around your father’s gardens, I was… mesmerized. But I couldn’t say anything.” For obvious reasons. “You look pretty. I just wanted you to know.”
I blushed, but despite the embarrassment I was able to stand on my tiptoes and give him a soft kiss, cupping his cheek in one of my hands.
In about twenty minutes, we caught sight of the first houses that comprised the town. Nestled in the center of the picturesque valley, the town was flanked by towering mountains and crisscrossed by a river, likely the same one Noah and I had followed on our journey.
At the entrance to the town, a stone structure welcomed us, shaped by two vertical pillar and two horizontal crossbeams.
Venturing further, excitement flowing through me as I held tightly onto Noah’s hand, we found ourselves amidst a bustling scene. The narrow main street bustled with activity as locals and visitors alike moved briskly, carrying bags of provisions and exchanging lively greetings.
The air was alive with the aromas of freshly baked bread and simmering rice, wafting from tiny eateries just beginning to open their doors. Though being daytime, lanterns overhead cast a warm glow and added illumination to the cobblestone path below our feet.
As we strolled along, I was captivated by the sights and sounds that surrounded us. Quaint tea houses adorned with cherry blossoms stood alongside market stalls offering an array of treasures.
I pulled Noah to a stop when we came across a group of street performers.
Dressed in elegant kimonos and covered in vibrant colors, a pair of dancers performed a kabuki-inspired dance, bringing to life ancient tales of heroism and love while a skilled percussionist put on display a performance of taiko drumming on massive drums. The music filled the street with thunderous rhythms that reverberated through the crowd. We watched, enthralled. By the time they reached the heart of their act, Noah’s arms had slid around my waist from behind, and I swayed a little with my back pressed against his chest, my hands resting on top of his over my stomach. And as the final notes of music faded into the air, we were left with a profound desire to belong to this place.
Even when the crowd started to dissipate, I remained tucked in Noah’s arms, feeling a bittersweet feeling inside of me. I could like it here. I could love it. I was already mesmerized by it all, but the reminder that this what at the cost of my parents put a heaviness in my chest that every once in a while made it difficult to breath.
As always, so perceptive, Noah pressed a kiss to my hair, prompting me to close my eyes and relish the feeling of being there with him, surrounded by people that accepted our love, that allowed us to be.
Thankfully, the crowd surrounding me serves as a reminder to keep me anchored in the present moment. My life didn’t belong to my parents, and life was not meant to be perfect, either. I could have paradise at a certain cost, and I would take it. I would take this which was standing in front of me, around me, right now.
With Noah encouraging us to keep exploring, we stumbled upon a small gathering of locals at a fork in the street, huddled together in animated conversation. They were whispering legends that seemed to dance upon the breeze and that kept children and adults spellbounded by the narratives.
An old man, his face weathered by years of wisdom, was regaling locals and visitors with tales of ancient warriors and mythical beasts, his voice rising and falling like the ebb and flow of a tide. As he spoke, Noah and I listened and exchanged knowing glances. These tales had been our companions in the quiet of bedtime as children and had accompanied us through our teenage years, intertwined with the poetry and literature of our respective educations.
As the day wore on and the rumble of hunger coming from my stomach elicited a playful comment from Noah this time, we sought out the nearest food stall, its colorful banners and fragrant spices alluring us closer. We approached the stall with hunger, our mouths watering at the tantalizing aroma that wafted through the air.
Noah’s eyes danced with excitement as he perused the selection of dishes on display, his adventurous spirit evident as he selected a variety of savory skewers and steaming dumplings.
“What would you like to have?” he asked.
“There’s so much to choose from,” I replied, my eyes darting from one plate to another. “Everything looks delicious.”
Noah engaged the vendor, asking about a few specific delicacies before making our selections.
“Would you like to try these? They’ve just been made and are still warm,” the vendor offered, gesturing to a plate of unfamiliar bites.
“Sure,” I agreed, accepting the bite from Noah’s fingers. His act of feeding me felt intimate and sweet, and elicited a smile I couldn’t shake as I chewed, my gaze locked on his until his laughter broke the spell.
“What?” I asked, my mouth still full.
“You look like a hamster,” he teased, his eyes alight with amusement. When he attempted to pinch my cheeks, I punched him playfully on the shoulder before covering my mouth with my hand.
But as I swallowed and tried to avoid his excited expression, I was overwhelmed by a sense of completeness. I had never seen Noah like this, so carefree, so happy. I wanted him like this forever. I would take the good and the bad, but I didn’t want anyone to take this happiness from him.
I vowed to protect this happiness at all costs.
As the taste settled in, an unexpected sharp sting spread across my tongue.
“Gods, this is so spicy!” I exclaimed, feeling the heat intensify.
The vendor let out a little laugh at my reaction. Noah observed my cheeks tinging red, and without letting his amusement fade, he asked the vendor for a glass of water, which the man quickly offered to me.
After my tongue found some relief and I insisted on avoiding further adventurous bites, Noah and I retreated to a quiet corner to enjoy our meal. Our conversation was light-hearted, focused on the scene unfolding around us and the animate characters populating the market street. We didn’t discuss the situation we were still in for we didn’t want to break the spell of this merry morning.
A while later, hand in hand and with contented stomachs, we continued to wander through the streets, our hearts buoyant and our spirits lifted by the vibrant energy around. We marveled at the myriad of wonders on display. I couldn’t resist stealing a glance at the elegant dresses adorning one of the stalls, which caught the sunlight and seemed to be calling out to me.
Ever so attentive to my desires, Noah noticed my gaze and suggested we take a closer look. I was initially hesitant, for the notion of indulging in something as frivolous as a dress seemed quite selfish from my part. But Noah gently took my hand in his and told me that it was perfectly acceptable to indulge in a little luxury now and then, that I deserved it, and that seeing me happy was all he desired.
Already feeling content simply walking beside him, hand in hand and basking in his love, I relented, allowing myself to be swept away by the beauty of the exquisite garments on display. I explored the racks of dresses with Noah following my steps. Each dress was more enchanting than the last, and Noah offered his candid opinion and commented on which colors seemed to complement me best, which I found quite adorable. Who would have thought that a Samurai could be so dept at navigating the world of fashion?
Lost in the array of fabrics and colors, my moment of indulgence was suddenly interrupted by the unexpected appearance of Kenzo, Rika’s husband. Spotting us from a distance, he called out our names, drawing our attention away from the dresses and back to the street.
With a friendly salute, Kenzo greeted us, mentioning that he had just finished selling some rice to the vendors from the nearby stalls while his brother remained in the fields. Curious about our impressions of the town, he inquired about our experience so far, prompting me to gush with cheerful comments about the warmth of the people and the beauty of the place.
Everything felt so delightful. Such mundane tasks as shopping for food and clothes were luxuries that I had seldom enjoyed during my time at my father’s estate, which made this experience all the more special for me.
“I can’t help but notice that my clothes fit you well,” he pointed out, looking at Noah’s outfit.
“Yeah, thank you. I’ll make sure to get something else today so that we don’t have to keep borrowing clothes,” Noah replied humbly. No hint of embarrassment. I guess he didn’t care, truly.
“Do not worry too much about it. The dress looks good on you, too,” he said to me. “I hadn’t seen Rika wearing that dress since she got pregnant.” At the mention, his eyes showed a glimpse of a fond memory, maybe his wife, round with their child in her tummy. “It’s nice to see that we can still give use to things we don’t need anymore.”
“All the dresses were so pretty,” I said, running my fingers over the delicate fabric of the skirt, admiring its design.
“She’s got another lot from when she was pregnant. We’re not considering having another baby for a while now, but if you do, do not hesitate to ask her. I’m sure she’ll be elated to borrow you some clothes if you like them. Otherwise, there is a shop down the street, on the left, that only sells clothes for pregnant women.”
While his offer was undoubtedly kind, his remarks about pregnancy and babies only served to exacerbate my internal turmoil. The prospect of starting a family with Noah had crossed my mind on occasion, the image of Noah holding our tiny baby in his long arms, tucking him or her against his chest… I had entertained the thought a few times, but it was a topic I wasn’t ready to confront fully yet. It felt daunting considering the tumultuous world we were living in at the moment. Motherhood could wait for a more opportune moment, when our hearts and minds were truly ready.
Just as Kenzo was pointing towards the location of said maternity shop, the three of us realized the air was crackling with tension nearby. A commotion was growing, the voices of angry merchants rising in protest over some disputed deal. Noah exchanged a concerned glance with me, then touched Kenzo’s shoulder.
“That doesn’t sound good,” Noah said.
“Not at all,” Kenzo agreed.
“Mind if we go and see if we can help defuse the situation?” Noah suggested before starting to leave the clothing stall.
“No, sure. Let’s go, see if we can be of any help,” was Kenzo’s answer.
“You stay here,” Noah said to me, extending his arm to grab my hand and give it a gentle squeeze while he smiled a little. “Get a dress you like. I’ll be back in a moment.”
“Okay, just be safe,” I told him.
“I will,” he nodded.
With my heart a little heavy, I released his hand reluctantly and let Noah fade into the crowd, followed by Kenzo. They hurried off towards the source of disturbance, to which I didn’t really pay much attention. I had enough to worry about, and I knew that whatever was going on, would get settled soon, with Noah and Kenzo’s help.
I let myself be dragged on by the energy of the other people around me, also checking clothes and buying food in the nearby stalls.
As I stood amidst the colorful dresses, I tried to push aside the worry gnawing at my insides and immerse myself in the moment. I touched the fabrics, marveled at the craftsmanship and attention poured to the details in the designs. Each garment was a work of art in its own right.
The vendor, a kindly old woman with a warm smile and twinkling eyes, noticed my interest and approached with a gentle curiosity. With a nod of greeting, she began to share stories of the dresses – their origins, the traditions behind their designs, and the meaning woven into every stitch. Her words were like music to my ears, soothing my troubled mind and drawing me deeper into the enchanting world of the shop.
But just as I began to relax into the moment, a strange presence abruptly stopped just behind me, and a chill swept over me, sending shivers down my spine.
Instinctively, I tensed, my senses on high alert.
A body pressed against mine threateningly.
The heat pressing against my back lacked the comforting warmth I felt when Noah was near. My heart raced, and I found myself frozen for a few seconds, staring straight ahead, eyes wide open, my hand still gripping the side of the dress I had contemplated buying.
Around me, people bustled about, occupied with their tasks, chatting with their neighbors and friends as they held shopping bags and carried boxes of produce. As my eyes scanned the crowd panickily, I couldn’t spot Noah. The commotion at the end of the street seemed to have magnified and I couldn’t get a glimpse of his tall frame.
Even amidst the busy street, fear enveloped me.
I had no weapons with me, and Noah didn’t know I was in danger. There was no possible way I could tell him that he was, too.
I was on the verge of screaming when the voice behind me said, “Dare to utter a sound, and I assure you the blade of the knife I’m holding against your side will pierce your skin, deep enough to stain the pretty dress you’re wearing. No one will be able to do anything to stop it, not even Noah. So listen to me: turn around and walk to the alley on the right, and keep going until the end. Don’t stop, and don’t even think about running or screaming for your hapless Ronin to come to your rescue. Understood?”
I didn’t reply, my blood turning cold as my thoughts raced. If I could just be quick enough to grab something sharp from the stall and turn around to attack him first…
The tip of his blade pressed against my side, and a twinge of pain shot through me. I knew the dress was torn, just as I knew there was nothing I could do.
The lovely vendor that had entertained me minutes ago was now engrossed in serving with another customer, her back turned to me. A lump formed in my throat as I swallowed, my breaths coming in ragged gasps.
Behind me, the voice sliced through the air as it uttered my name, a dangerous warning dripping from his tone. His wasn’t a familiar voice, but I knew it well enough to know who it belonged to.
“Understood?” He demanded.
“Understood,” I replied in a low voice, barely audible over the clamor of the shopping street.
“Good. Move.”
I turned around, the figure behind me following the same steps, not letting me see his face just yet.
I turned the corner of the first alley and walked with the tip of the blade pressed to my side, still threatening to slice through my skin. The sounds of the crowd faded away. It wasn’t until we reached a secluded corner, the damp stones beneath our feet and the sun struggling to penetrate the narrow passageway, that the tension seemed to ease if only just a little.
I cautiously took two steps away from the figure behind me, and then, I turned to face him.
“Ren,” I said, my voice steady despite the unease that gnawed at me.
Ren looked just as he had three days ago, when my father had expected Noah to take his own life. Ren wore the same attire, only now it was marred by mud and grime. Fatigue etched lines on his face, and beneath the weariness, simmered an unmistakable anger.
“Look at you,” he sneered. “All dolled up and parading through the streets as if you hadn’t tarnished your family’s name and fled with a man who’s lost his honor.”
I ignored his comment. I focused on maintaining my composure, swallowing down my fear. If I could keep Ren talking, perhaps Noah would find me before any harm befell me.
“How did you find us?” I inquired, my gaze steady.
“Did you truly think I would grant you the same courtesy as your father and allow you a twenty-four-hour head start to run away with that wretch of a man?” His words cut through the air like a blade, each one laced with venomous resentment.
“Don’t talk like that about Noah,” I shot back, my voice trembling now with defiance.
“I do because that’s what he is—if anything. He took you away from your parents, from your duty as the daughter of the Shogun. From me,” he retorted bitterly.
“He didn’t take me away,” much less from you, I wanted to say. “It was my choice,” I countered with a rough edge in my voice that betrayed my growing anxiety. “I left because I was not happy with the future that had been decided for me.”
Ren scoffed. “No one is happy with their future, but we take it nonetheless and fulfill our duties.”
“And you don’t think that maybe things should change? That people should be allowed to choose their fate?”
“This is not a fantasy tale,” he retorted, mentioning my name at the end, and piercing me with his cold gaze. “You had responsibilities in your hands, and you dropped them the moment that pathetic excuse of a man got between your legs. Am I wrong?”
I contained the urge to slap him as my cheeks burned.
“You are wrong,” I said sharply, my chest raising. I wouldn’t let him see my vulnerability. “But entertain me” I continued. “According to me, my responsibilities were that I made sure to choose wisely so that I could secure a future built on happiness, love, and power. Isn’t that what all those tales they tell us as kids say? If you are so sure I did wrong, tell me what my responsibilities were. Tell me how I should have done things.”
I knew. He didn’t have to say. He didn’t have to enumerate them.
I knew them fucking well.
But I needed time. I wasn’t certain what Ren was capable of, but the recent threat he imposed on me had sounded all too genuine, and I had a feeling that he would dare to hurt me if as a result he could take me back to my father, even if it was by force.
“Your family is one of the most powerful ones of the province. You are the only daughter of the Shogun, the only heiress to his position and inheritance. You had to respect the order of things, follow your parents’ steps, and marry me.”
I never really like Ren. It wasn’t merely his current presence that fueled my distaste, but rather his embodiment of the quintessential royal archetype—obedient to tradition, entitled, and expecting the world to kneel at his feed and fulfill him with whatever need he had. Ren’s life had been scripted from birth, with every detail set up prior to his arrival. He’d had nothing to worry about. I supposed he had already assumed that I would be his wife one day, merging our families’ legacies to consolidate power across the peninsula. Yet, all those presumptions shattered when I confronted my father and threatened him with his own sword in front of his army while also forcing Ren to return Noah his katana. I had put him to shame in front of the entire province, veneering him of any privilege and igniting a flame of resentment inside of him that he wouldn’t let go.
I had never found him interesting, either. The times we were forced to meet in my father’s estate or in his, there had never been any connection, not even one that would give way to friendship. It’s also to be considered that by the time I met him for the first time, I was already head over heels in love with Noah. In fact, the first time Ren and I were introduced to each other had been the day after Noah and I had had one of our first sexual experiences. We were still teenagers. We hadn’t slept together, but we had touched each other, our hands exploring those unfamiliar nooks and crannies of the opposite anatomy, attentive to the little noises the other made and the expressions of pleasure that crossed our faces each time we caressed a special place. I had almost died of embarrassment when Ren greeted me, looking at me with that expression that said, “I’ll be the first”, having no idea that he no longer had anything to do. I was still a virgin, but Noah had already touched me, and I wouldn’t let any man other than Noah get his hands on me. Noah would be the first, and the last.
And I was going to keep it that way.
I felt sorry for Ren, truly, but this was a battle he couldn’t hope to win. I’d sooner face death than live without Noah. It was a truth I’d held steadfast in my mind and heart for as long as I could remember. I would be with Noah, or I just wouldn’t be. I would marry him, or no one else. I would give birth to children that bore the same eye-shape as his and his smile, or I wouldn’t have any.
“We would have never been happy together,” I said, keeping it simple and practical. I didn’t hold much hope for Ren to understand. Perhaps he believed that happiness was a collective responsibility, one that could be achieved with work and effort, one that could be built the same way you build a house. Or maybe he simply believed that women were not worthy of finding happiness the way I did, by crossing paths with a soldier in her father’s gardens when we were just kids. Of course Ren would have been happy with me, or at least pleased in a way. But I would definitely not have been. Would he have cared? I would never know.
“Happiness can be attained if you work for it,” was his reply, affirming my suspicions. His ideas aligned with the conventional wisdom: first, you get married, then you toil tirelessly in pursuit of happiness, with no guarantee of success.
“I don’t believe that’s how happiness is supposed to work,” I replied firmly. “I found happiness without searching for it, I seized it and held on tight,” I told him, referring to Noah. I didn’t have to specify because he already knew.
“You cannot be referring to that miserable ronin. Do you truly think someone like him is capable of providing happiness?”
“Why wouldn’t he?” I maintained my composure, refusing to be rattled by Ren’s palpable disdain for Noah. “Just because he was born and raised as a Samurai, meant to serve a master, does not mean he lacks the capacity to feel or to please others as he served my father for years, earning his trust as his finest swordsman. You have a misguided perception, Ren, and you’re making a mistake by being here. Noah will notice my absence. He will find us, and I don’t want to witness what he will do to you when he does.”
His eyes widened as the weight of my warning sank in.
“No,” he retorted, brandishing the dagger and closing the distance between us. His katana was secured at his waist, and I could see his other hand hovering close in case he needed it. “You have made a terrible mistake. You’ve forsaken your life as the Shogun’s daughter for someone who is way below your status. Your future was already written, and you decided to burn down the vellum. What does he have to offer you? He had nothing, and now he isnothing. He’s abandoned the Bushido Code. He’s a ronin now, and he might end up joining the Yakuza. If he betrayed the kingdom, he could betray you.”
“He won’t,” I said as a matter of fact. “Noah did not choose me for what I had or for my status. He chose me for the things I decided to give him myself—my heart. That’s the only thing I have to offer to him now. I am no longer a princess. I have no wealth in my hands. I only have uncertainty about my future. And yet, Noah still wants me. I know this is difficult for you to accept, Ren, and it was never truly my intention to hurt you, but I’ve been in love with Noah since I was a little girl. He was my first love, and he will be my last.”
Rage was pouring from him now. It was evident on his eyes, in his expression, in the taut muscles of his body and the veins pulsating in his neck and forehead. His black hair was in disarray from the days he must have endured away from his family’s estate, too.
In one single step, he bridged the gap that separated us. His hand tangled in my hair, wrenching my head back sharply, eliciting a gasp from me as the blade’s edge pressed against my neck, stinging.
“Do not speak another word. Whatever he’s done to you, whatever lies he’s spun to persuade you, you are wrong, and someone needs to bring you back down to earth, princess.”
“Ren…” I began to plead, but he cut me off forcefully.
“No! He’s doomed but you still have a chance. Return with me to the Shogun’s castle. Marry me, bear my children, and give an heir to secure the future of your father’s dynasty.”
The realization of his intentions suddenly terrified me. I had always known, deep down, that this was the expectation placed upon royal women. It was the destiny that had been laid out for me. The same one it would be laid out for my daughter. But hearing it articulated so callously, reducing me to a mere vessel for producing heirs, filled me with dread, chilling me to the bone.
“Ren, you’re hurting me,” I managed to say. Both physically and emotionally. Fear coursed through me. If Noah didn’t find me soon, I would start screaming, consequences be damned.
“And you think you didn’t hurt me? Or your parents? You think you’re the only one entitled to your pain?” His grip tightened. “You might have run away with that disgraceful man, but you still have a princess complex inside of you. You’re greedy and selfish, and if that bastard hasn’t realized it yet, he will soon.”
“I hope so, because she fucking deserves to be selfish.”
Noah’s voice cut through the tension like a lifeline, an antidote to cure the poison in my body.
And then, everything happened in a blur.
Ren was forcefully yanked away from me, the blade grazing my skin as Noah’s strength pulled him back with such intensity that he stumbled, gasping for air. Noah’s grip on Ren’s tunic tightened around his neck, momentarily choking him.
Ren had clearly underestimated Noah. He had foolishly believed that Noah wouldn’t notice I was gone, that he wouldn’t panic the moment he couldn’t find me among the stalls, wouldn’t suspect that something had gone wrong.
But Noah wasn’t a fucking prince with a misguided sense of superiority. He was a Samurai—resourceful, cunning, and relentless. He would stop at nothing to find me, no matter where I was.
Ren was just wrong about Noah in every possible way.
And now he was going to pay for it.
In a second, Noah had unsheathed his katana, the gleaming blade immediately touching Ren’s throat. Reflexively, Ren extended his own sword towards Noah, the dagger now discarded on the ground.
“Drop it,” Noah commanded, not an ounce concerned about having another sword pointed at him, “before I slit your throat and drag you to the forest so that the wolves can feast on you.”
“I’m not afraid of you, ronin,” Ren retorted, but the fear in his eyes betrayed his bravado. I could see it just the same as Noah.
This was not even a battle, and yet, Ren had already lost.
“You will be when I start cutting every finger that has touched her. I won’t repeat myself. Drop your fucking weapon.”
It took only seconds. My hands had stopped trembling the moment Noah appeared. Now, it was Ren’s hands that shook as he released his katana, his shoulders sagging in resignation as the sound of the blade meeting the ground reverberated in the air. I watched as he struggled to maintain his composure, suppressing the indignation of once again having to bow to a Samurai’s—or rather, a ronin’s— will.
“If she’s harmed in any physical way, you will pay with your own flesh. If she’s not, you will pay either way.”
After his threat, there was a heavy pause. None of us said anything until Noah, never once averting his gaze from Ren, called my name.
“Are you hurt?”
Perhaps Ren didn’t catch it, or perhaps he lacked the ability to decipher the nuances in Noah’s voice as I did. But I heard it—the subtle tremor, the fear.
Noah was scared.
Bringing my fingers to my neck, I located the spot where Ren’s blade had pressed, and my breath caught when I felt the dampness coating my fingertips. Looking down, I found them stained with blood. Not much, but enough to awaken the beast within Noah.
“I’m bleeding.”
In an instant, Noah’s movements blurred with precision and controlled fury. The punishing blow to Ren’s liver landed with the force of a sledgehammer, delivered by the heel of Noah’s boot. With resolve, Noah maintained his grip on his katana, his muscles coiled with a lethal combination of strength and determination.
The impact reverberated through Ren’s body like a thunderclap, sending shockwaves of agony coursing through every fiber of his being. Gasping for breath, he crumpled to the ground as pain engulfed him in its merciless embrace.
Through the haze of agony, Ren could barely make out Noah’s figure looming over him, his eyes ablaze with a fierce intensity. In that moment, Ren realized the extent of Noah’s determination to protect me.
I had warned him, but he didn’t listen.
With trembling hands, Ren reached out in a feeble attempt to plead for mercy, but his words dissolved into a choked gasp as Noah’s steely gaze bore down on him. There would be no forgiveness.
In the aftermath of the brutal blow, a heavy silence descended upon the scene, broken only by the ragged sound of Ren’s labored breathing and the distant echo of Noah’s heartbeat and mine. And as Ren lay sprawled on the ground, his body wracked with pain, he knew that he had awoken the wrath of a man whose love knew no bounds, and whose fury was as unyielding as the steel of his blade.
“I won’t give you the chance to touch her again, but if you even conceive the idea of doing so, I will make sure you don’t recover from this pain,” Noah declared. He knelt down briefly, bringing himself to eye level with Ren, whose face was red and contorted with agony, hands clutching his own body. “I was once a Samurai. I killed men in battle. But I am a ronin now. I will not hesitate to kill anything, or anyone, that is a threat to her. May this serve you as a reminder that I follow no code anymore.”
Though Noah’s words should have chilled me, they didn’t.
As Ren lay writhing on the ground, noah slowly turned to me, his features softening instantly.
I extended a hand to him, the one free of bloodstains.
The fear I saw in his eyes disarmed me.
His fingers gently lifted my chin to examine the cut on my neck. It wasn’t deep, but it would leave a scar.
Before I could reassure Noah, he slid one arm around my shoulder and pulled me into his embrace, enveloping me in a cocoon of safety. I wrapped my arms around his torso, pressing my face against his chest, feeling the rapid thud of his heartbeat beneath his skin.
We turned to face Ren.
“This isn’t over,” Ren managed to say, one hand on the floor now, the other one still on his stomach.
“It is for you,” Noah replied firmly.
Ren’s gaze shifted to me, ignoring him.
“Your father is not far. When he finds you, he will show no mercy to him. Or to you.”
I swallowed, but I kept my chin held high.
“Leave, Ren,” I asserted. “There is nothing for you here. I chose Noah. I will marry him. I will bear his children. I’m here today because I have chosen my future. Me. No one did it for me. There’s nothing here for you to fight for.”
Ren spat on the ground; the action tinted with blood. Noah stood his ground. Eventually, Ren managed to retrieve his katana and rise. I doubted he would be able to bend down again to retrieve the dagger, but I didn’t care.
“You don’t deserve her,” Ren sneered at Noah.
“I’m aware,” Noah admitted, “but I’ll spend the rest of my days trying my damnest hard to make myself worthy of her.”
Those were our final words to Ren.
That would be the last time we ever saw Ren. I didn’t know at that time, and didn’t even conceive the thought because a part of me was actually terrified of what could happen in the upcoming days, in the upcoming hours —but we would never cross paths again.
Back in the bustling street, tucked against Noah’s side and still reeling from the shock, we searched for Kenzo, Noah calling out to him without drawing undue attention from the locals.
When Kenzo arrived and saw the blood staining my neck, he was poised to rally the community’s trained warriors, but I stopped him. Noah told him what happened and urged him to get someone who could tend to my wound.
Kenzo led us to a nearby house, just a stone’s throw away. Noah never once released his grip on me.
Ascending wooden stairs to the first floor of the modest house, after a couple of polite knocks, the door creaked open, revealing a diminutive, kindly-faced old woman. Upon Kenzo’s introduction and a plea for assistance, she ushered us inside.
She asked no questions, directing me to recline on a bed in what appeared to be a makeshift nurse’s room. Instructing me to tilt my neck for examination, she diligently tended to my wound, cleansing and dressing it with practiced care.
Noah stood never too far, a silent sentinel with arms crossed tightly over his chest, his expression taut with worry. Kenzo attempted to engage him in conversation, but Noah remained reticent, his attention fixated on the street below as he stood by the window, peering out through parted curtains.
In that moment, it was as though the samurai had taken the place of my lover, and I didn’t know when I was going to get him back.
“Should we consider returning to the community as soon as possible?” Kenzo asked, casting a concerned glance in my direction, a consideration he had after noting Noah’s suddenly silent demeanor.
“Yes,” I said softly, aching to reach out to Noah but held back by the old woman’s ministrations as she applied a strange liquid-soaked cotton pad to my neck. “If my father is nearby, they should be informed. I wouldn’t want anything to happen to your com—.”
“I’ll take care of him”, Noah interjected suddenly, his tone conveying a sense of determination that unsettled me.
However, it was Kenzo who responded to Noah’s declaration.
“No,” he said. “Firstly, this community is not just ours, it’s yours now, too. Our sanctuary transcends royalty and government jurisdiction. There’s a higher power at play here, one that protects us. Besides, we’re well-equipped to handle such situations. Many of us come from similar backgrounds. We’re accustomed to defending our own, and you two are now part of our community.”
Noah was not expecting that, and neither was I.
“You will be all right,” the old lady assured me, redirecting my focus away from the conversation. Her gentle pat on my shoulder offered solace. I was about to reach for my neck, but she shook her head, advising against it. “It will heal just fine but avoid touching it. Keep it clean throughout the day, and it will soon fade away”.
A soft “thank you” escaped my lips, overwhelmed by the kindness and care we were receiving. Tears threatened to spill from my eyes as I sat up on the bed, seeking out Noah’s attention with a silent plea.
Finally, he noticed my distress and approached me. His arm enveloped my shoulders once more, while his other hand gently cradled the back of my head. As I wrapped my arms around him, he pressed me to his chest, planting a tender kiss on my hair as I struggled to contain my tears.
We journeyed back to the sanctuary on horseback, a magnificent creature provided by a local resident keen on making our trip back quicker. Kenzo rode at the front on his own horse. I rode together with Noah, seated in front of him, feeling the tension emanating from his body envelop me. I could sense his restraint in his muscles, on his chest pressed against my back. I could see it at the way his grip tightened on the horse leash, his knuckles whitening.
Upon crossing the southwest gate, Noah dismounted first, reaching out to lift me down from the horse. As my feet touched the ground, a fleeting sense of relief washed over me, grateful to be within the safety of the community once more.
However, my respite was short-lived.
After we secured the horses and made our way toward the main square, an eerie silence hung in the air, contrasting the usual bustle of activity we had found the day before. There were no deer grazing nearby, no children’s laughter echoing through the streets.
I noticed Rei, Maura, and two others approaching us, their expressions somber, katanas sheathed at their waists.
“The Shogun is here,” Maura announced.
The moment the news reached me, I spotted my father approaching us, coming down from the main stone path, his battle armor on, weapons ready, surrounded by an army of at least eight Samurai, flanking him from each side. His stride was determined, and the look on his eyes fierce.
My heart clenched.
No. I won’t let him get near Noah again.
I seized hold of Noah’s katana, drawing it from its sheath, ready to fight my father one more time.
The last time.

________________________________________________________
New Orleans had always been one of Noah’s favorite cities.
He’d been partial to the French, anyway. Liked the way they baked absurd little confections, the way they fucked without remorse- the way they’d put each other’s head on a pike just to get a leg up in court. He’d been fortunate enough to be endowed with a pretty face, and there were few things the French liked more than that.
Which is where he found himself now, walking through the French Quarter, looking for dinner. There were approximately a million restaurants with old signs beckoning him inside, but Noah had lost a taste for that kind of food long before he stepped foot in this city.
He smelled you before he saw you.
It was the off season, if such a thing existed for a city like this. You were bundled up in a jacket, hurrying through the streets. It was chilly, even for this time of year, the wind making its way through your hair to whip in every direction. That must have been what blew your scent his way, the intoxicating scent of jasmine and an uninterrupted heart beat almost making him stiffen up where he stood, across the street from you. He mourned your scent as you ducked into a building, trying to escape the chill. You didn’t reek of alcohol the way most people in this area did- if he had to guess, he’d say you probably hadn’t had anything stronger than a glass of wine tonight. The thought of how that would taste had him darting across the nearly empty street to follow you into the building quickly.
He didn’t get a good meal often. The drunken strangers he usually managed to entice sated him in the way a pint of blueberries would satisfy a black bear. It was hard to find a sober person who would let you bite them, and the ones who did come along were, well, strange to say the least. As if he had any moral high ground.
The inside of the building was warm, dimly lit. He spotted you immediately, in a far corner by the bar, alone.
Blessed be to the old gods and the new. He thought to himself. He wouldn’t even have to lure you away from a group. He could easily seduce an individual, but multiples were hard when he was hungry.
He made his way over to where you sat, sitting around the corner so he could face you, but not be in your personal space. “Whiskey neat, please.” The bartender nodded once, pouring something foul and cheap-smelling into a glass with an ice cube. Noah fought back a grimace at the stench.
“Oh, come on, Remy, don’t give him the fucking Jack Daniel’s.” A voice called next to him. “If you want to cheap out, do Crown. Who the hell voluntarily drinks Jack?”
Noah slowly turned his head to where you sat, frowning at the bartender, who was rolling his eyes in return. He did remake Noah’s drink though, with something decidedly more palatable.
As he sat the drink down and walked to another patron, Noah turned to you. “Thank you. I was having a difficult time coping with the thought of that on my palate.”
You flashed him a grin. Briefly, he wondered what it would feel like to breathe again.
“No worries. Remy likes to give the tourists the bottom shelf shit, but you seem like the sort of guy who knows his whiskey.” You took a small sip of your wine, something deeply red that made Noah shift in his seat ever so slightly.
He inhaled once. “Grenache?”
You raised an eyebrow. “You know your wines, too. How could you tell?”
He shrugged, taking a sip of his drink. “Lucky guess.”
You cocked your head to the side curiously. “I’ve never seen you here before.”
“I’ve never been here before.” Noah responded, emotionless.
“January is an odd time to visit for someone who’s never been here before.” You prodded further.
Noah couldn’t fight the smirk on his face. “Must you always play with your food?” Jolly had sighed once. “Maybe if I had a better tour guide, I would know that.”
He turns to look at you know, registers every emotion that crosses your face. Your pupils widen noticeably, your back going a little straighter. You were making this too easy for him.
“You’re in luck, I happen to know a gal.” You’re beaming at him- a sweet, lopsided grin as you take a gulp of your wine and introduce yourself. Noah watches the movement of your throat as you do so, responding with his own name. He takes a moment to drink you in.
Your jacket is gone now, but you’re still wearing a sweatshirt for a school he’s never heard of (Which, to be fair, is most of them.) Dark jeans cling to your legs where they sway idly from the barstool, your feet not touching the ground. Your hair has been pulled away from your face, but a few wisps escape and kiss the sides of your cheeks. He realizes, almost startled, that you’re beautiful.
A dignified kind of beautiful, not the otherworldliness that his kind manages. He knows he’s attractive, but it’s the same kind of beauty that humans see in tigers, snakes-  A warning sign, a mark of predation. The kind of beauty you admire from the other side of bullet proof glass.
You, though- you’re so warm. He can feel your warmth, even from over here. It transcends physicality; Warmth that is visceral, in your eyes and your lips and the scrunch of your nose reacting to the cold.
“Hey, you okay?” Your soft voice shakes him out of his thoughts. “You looked sad.”
His eyes lock with yours, finding such human concern that if he could have wept, he would. You looked like you cared for people. He had not been cared for in a very long time.
“Yes, sorry. Zoned out for a second there.” He quickly finished off his drink. “I would love to take you up on that offer, though. It would be nice to see the city from a local’s perspective.”
He was a dirty liar. He knew the earth of this place before the French could even see it from their ships. It was wild then, and wild now- though in different ways. He could see the old wild in the eyes of workers practicing their vaudou and the shadows that lingered at the edge of the swamps surrounding the city. It beckoned, a siren’s call out to the murky depths of the region. Colonizers said they “settled” the territory, but everyone old enough to remember knows that lands like that don’t settle.
He supposed he was, in some ways, a marriage of those wilds. He remembered the things that lurked in the shadows… and now he was the thing lurking in that same darkness, however many lifetimes later.
“You know,” You interrupted his thoughts again, grabbing your coat in the process, “You get this really old-and-wise look on your face when you zone out. Are you thinking about war crimes, or mac ‘n cheese?”
He smiled despite himself. “Mac ‘n cheese.”
You blinded him briefly with a smile in return. He knew instantly that he would regret this, but followed you out the bar nonetheless, throwing a bill onto the counter without looking back.
You walked alongside each other in companionable silence until you spoke up.
“So, what brings you to the city alone?”
Noah smirked at the ground. You didn’t even try to disguise your inquiries. It was refreshing.
“I was supposed to be visiting friends, but they’re not here anymore.” It wasn’t a lie- not the truth, but certainly not a lie.
You frowned. “You didn’t think to check that your friends lived here still before you came?”
Noah shook his head. “I was actually just passing through- decided to stay a few days.”
You nodded, as if his non-answers made any sense. It reminded him of how he would nod at the eloquent words of his elders when he was a child, like pretending he was wiser than he was would somehow allow the wisdom to materialize out of sheer will. A thought occurred to him. “How old are you?”
“Oh, I’m 25.” You responded, turning to cast a glance up at him. “You?”
He found he didn’t want to lie to you. “Older than you.” Was the answer he settled on.
You snorted, surprising him. He raised an eyebrow in question.
“Come on man, that’s like, the most ‘Guy Older Than 27’ thing to say.” You rolled your eyes at him. He couldn’t remember the last time someone rolled their eyes at him.
He grinned anyway, not looking at you. “Fair enough. I am older than 27.”
You gave him a sidelong glance. “Why so cryptic? Scared I’ll send you back to the nursing home you escaped from-”
You were cut off as he crowded you up against a wall, staring down his nose at you, arms on either side of your head. “You’re kind of mouthy, you know that?”
“Then shut me up.” Your words were rushed, like they escaped before you could think them over properly. He hesitated for only a second, then leaned in to kiss you.
You bloomed like a flower in spring for him, lips parting in a gasp, chest heaving as color rushed to your cheeks. He felt drunk as his tongue traced your lip, hands coming down to grasp your hips. You parted after only a few moments, breath ragged.
“I live about a block from here.” Your intentions were not lost on him.
He took a step back, gesturing for you to lead the way. You finished your nighttime stroll soon after, quickly pulling out your keys to unlock your front door.
Noah pauses at the door. Some of the superstitions were all too true. You turn around to face him, framed by the light of your entryway.
“Well, come in then. It’s cold.” You urge him, holding the door open. He lets out a breath he didn’t need.
He follows you inside to the warm interior. He’s taking in your interior decoration choices when you pounce, pulling him to your mouth. He happily obliges, deepening the kiss and wrapping an arm around your back. He felt your hands come up to his chest, pushing him away.
“Did you want to stop-” He began, until you interrupted him.
“No, but thanks. I’m just trying to get us to a flat surface that isn’t my hardwood floors.” You gave him a sly smile, taking him by the hand and tugging him through the house.
His eyes could see in pitch black, but he was still thoroughly impressed by how you could navigate in the dim light. You must have lived here for a while.
You flung open a door with ease, still pulling him behind you. He could see the bed as you shoved him onto it, crawling on top of him. He was grinning as you leaned in to kiss him again-
Then you stopped.
He suddenly realized, not reacting quickly enough as you scrambled off him and flipped on the lights.
“Your teeth-” You began, then froze as you took in the sight of him. He already knew what you were seeing. Blood vessels protruding around his eyes. His irises, sclera- blown pitch black. Cold skin even paler than usual. He could feel them now, behind his lips-
Fangs.
“What the fuck is going on?” You were too calm, given the circumstances, given your words.
Noah could only imagine the look on his face; Shame, embarrassment, regret. “I’ll go-”
“No no no, nuh-uh. You’re going to stay right there and explain what’s going on or I’ll scream bloody murder and Mr. Joe will come over with his 42 and we’ll have real problems.”
Noah stilled, though probably not for the reason you were wanting. “I’m sorry, did you just threaten to shoot me? I grew teeth, I’m a big scary monster, you can’t just shoot-”
“Yes I can! And I will! I’m crazy! I’m not scared of sexy scary monsters, I’m from backwoods Louisiana, pal! I’ve been hunting! I-”
“You think I’m sexy?” Noah could feel his eyes returning to normal as he grinned at you.
“Shut up.” Your voice cracked, betraying you.
Noah stood up, cocking his head to the side. His fangs were retracting now, disappearing from view. He gave you a long look.
You looked pissed, which was new. He was more accustomed to fear, knew how to respond to it, soothe it. You had a glint in your eye that looked different from just anger, almost like-
Betrayal. The earth whispered to him.
He took a deep breath. He could still smell arousal on you. “I’m sorry, this wasn’t… how I wanted this to go.”
“Then how did you want it to go?” You threw back at him.
“I- I don’t know! I thought we could hook up and then I’d leave when you fell asleep and I’d find some rando on the way home and-” He stopped short, unsure of how to continue.
“And what?” You prodded, sounding fearful for the first time that evening. Good. You should be scared. He was a monster- an old one. For all you knew he ate virgins and burned down villages.
He looked down, unable to meet your eyes. “And… drink their blood.”
You exhaled, long. “You kill people to eat?”
His neck snapped up at you. “No, no! Oh my god, no. Just a nibble and I’m on my way-” He stopped at the giggle you let out. “Excuse me?”
“It’s just,” You straightened your face. “You eat people and refer to it as a ‘nibble?’”
“I don’t eat people.” He deadpanned, giving you a look.
“You just drink their blood.”
“Right.”
You both stared at each other for a long moment.
“So why-” You began.
Noah motioned for you to continue.
You blinked. “Why the fangs, then? If you weren’t going to… y’know.” You averted your gaze.
A movement Noah quickly mirrored. “Oh, um. It’s like- an arousal thing. Pretty girl kisses me, fangs pop out.”
You were looking at him again. “You think I’m pretty?”
He met your eyes. “Yeah. Prettiest thing I’ve seen so far, and I’ve been around for a while.”
You took a slow step towards him. “How often do you eat?”
“Um, once a week, if it’s good. Maybe twice if it’s not.” He responded automatically, trying not to think about how bizarre this conversation was.
Your head tilted slightly. Another step. “How long has it been? Since you’ve… fed?”
He was watching you carefully now. Then, very quietly, he said “Two weeks.”
Something like concern flooded your eyes, and you almost winced at him. “That’s a long time to be hungry.”
He could see your jugular on your neck, pulsating with life. He said nothing in response.
You took another step. “Would it help if you… fed on me?”
He looked at you sharply, processing your words in seconds. “No.”
“Why not?” You countered, cocking a brow.
Why not? The earth whispered at him again, voice a caress in his ear. He could smell you- Alive, fresh and-
Fertile. The familiar voice supplied. He fought the urge to roll his eyes. I’m not going to tell her she smells fertile, he retorted.
“You can’t think of a good reason.” You assumed, staring almost directly into his silence.
“I could hurt you.” He supplied helplessly.
“And that’s worse than hurting someone else?”
He tried again. “No- it’s not, but-” A deep breath, “I can’t stand the thought of hurting you.”
You placed a hand on his arm, too warm and too close. “Then I’ll just hurt you back.” You were so close to him, when did you get this close- “You look awfully hungry, Noah.” You murmured, looking up at him through your lashes.
It was impossible for him to misread your body language as his hands came up to grip your hips, tugging you closer to him. He could feel your nipples hardening where your bodies met.
“You can tell me to stop, okay? Whenever you want, just say the word and we’ll stop.” He was panting now, salivating in anticipation as his canines slid back out.
You nodded. “I’ll let you know if anything changes.” Then you kissed him again, sliding your tongue over his fangs in a move that made him outright moan into your mouth. He scooped you up in what was obviously a feat of superhuman strength, chucking you onto the bed.
He made quick work of your clothes, pulling your shirt over your head in a swift movement that had him pausing to stare. “Blessed be to the old gods and the new.” He breathed, taking in your pert nipples, breasts swaying at his hasty movements. He leaned in, running his tongue from your sternum, up through your breasts, stopping only at your neck. “Do you taste as good as you look, love?”
Your cheeks reddened. “Let’s hope so.”
He grinned, a wicked, awful thing, tugging on your pants until they slid off, leaving you in just your underwear. “Wanna see a trick?”
You did not want to see a trick, you decided as your body betrayed you and nodded anyway.
He came down to eye-level with your mound, slowly and carefully hooking a single fang on the fabric, sliding it directly through your panties until they were completely torn open.
You gaped, unable to form words.
“Sorry, those were cute. I’ll make it up to you.” Noah promised as he spread your legs open for him.
You felt exposed, vulnerable. Your entire body went red as he watched you. He ran a finger up your slit, making your entire body shudder. “Oh? Baby likes that?”
You nodded, blinking rapidly. Noah swatted your inner thigh, not enough to hurt, but enough to get your attention. “Use your words.”
Your cheeks grew even pinker. “Y-yes, I liked it.”
He leaned down, caging you in. “Want me to fuck you?”
“Please.” You whispered. His eyes went pitch black again.
“Good girl, already knows to beg.” He backed off of you, tugging off his turtleneck sweater, revealing a fully tattooed torso. Your mouth went dry at the sight. “Again.” He demanded.
“Please.” You obeyed, still barely above a whisper.
“Prettier.” He demanded again, unbuckling his pants.
“P-please, Noah, please-”
“Almost there.” His pants hit the floor, revealing a pair of equally as inked legs.
“Please, I’ll be so good, Noah, please, let me be good-”
“That’s a good girl, good job. C’mere.” He sat back down on the bed, the outline of his cock clearly visible in his briefs. You wanted to feel, to taste.
You obliged his command, crawling over to straddle his lap.
“Here’s how this is gonna go, pretty thing.” He began, sliding a finger inside of you as he did so. You gasped, latching onto his shoulder for support. “I’m going to get you nice and loose, then you’re going to ride me, like this. Understand?”
“Yes sir.” You stammered as he added another finger.
“Ooh, nice manners.” He praised, dropped a kiss to your jaw. You shivered at his touch. “When you feel like you’re close, you’re going to tell me, and then I’m going to bite right-” he rubbed a small line on the side of your neck- “Here. Does that sound okay?”
You nodded, then remembered to say “Yes, yes, sounds wonderful, sounds amazing, Noah fuck me please-”
He chuckled quietly, lifting you up ever so slightly to align himself where he had pulled down is briefs. “You ready?”
“Noah I swear to whatever gods, old and new- fuck.” Your rampage broke off into a moan as he slid himself into you. His thrusts were short at first, letting you adjust, until you finally sank all the way down.
You were panting when you finally bottomed out. “Big- ‘S so big.” You whined, clenching and unclenching on him involuntarily.
Noah’s breaths were equally as ragged. His hands had come to rest on your hips, thumbs rubbing soothing circles on them. “Whenever you’re ready.” He placed another kiss on your forehead.
You waited another few seconds, then pulled up experimentally. The drag of him inside you had a long moan escaping your throat. You dropped down, gasping, rising up again. You repeated this until you were riding him in earnest, moans and gasps escaping you both.
You didn’t know how Noah was managing to hit that bundle of nerves inside of you every time you sank down, but he was. You draped your arms on his shoulders, leaning in to kiss him deeply, fangs tugging on your lip ever so slightly. “You look so good riding my cock baby, look so good with a big cock in you, like you were made for this-” Noah’s profane train of thought continued on until it was white noise in your ears. You registered that your thighs were shaking from the effort, but you couldn’t stop, not when you were so close-
“Close.” You panted. “Fuck, Noah, I’m so close, so close-”
He pulled your hair to the side quickly, teeth lining up with your throat.
“I’m gonna cum, I’m gonna cum-”
The world went white as Noah sank his fangs into your throat and you came, release squirting all over the both of you as your body shook.
You panted as he sucked at your throat, eyes fluttering shut. One of his hands was rubbing at your back, the other snaked around your waist. You stayed like that for a few minutes more, until you almost felt light-headed and he released you with a soft “pop.”
You blinked at him sleepily as he laid you down against your pillow. He stood up, tugging up his boxers and turning to walk away. “Are you leaving?” You slurred, sounding sad even to yourself.
You could hear his little laugh. “No, I’m getting you a snack and some water. I know I’m dreamy, but I can’t have the ladies passing out on me.”
You rolled your eyes as he disappeared, faint clattering alerting you of when he found the kitchen.
When he returned, you were more alert, taking the water and gulping it down. You took a second to look at him.
He was beautiful before, but now- wow.
His hair was silky, skin still pale but not so lifeless. His eyes were richly dark, amusement seeming to dance in them. “Y’know,” You began, “You’re really pretty when you’re not starving to death.”
If he could have blushed, he might have. “Back at you.” Was his response, handing you crackers.
You nibbled on them while he went about dressing himself. “You’re not staying?” You did your best to not sound disappointed.
Noah shot you a smile. “Sadly, no. I have to get back to my hiding hole before the sun comes up.”
You nodded, looking down. “Will I get to see you again?”
“I have a feeling you’ll be seeing entirely too much of me.” Noah responded, sounding amused.
“What makes you say that?” You questioned, confusion written on your face.
“Because you broke the cardinal sin of running around with a vampire.” Noah grinned, looking devious. “You invited me in.”

You’re Mine
Noah Sebastian x Reader
3.6k words.
A/N: jealous Noah has me feeling strong feelings. Smutty shit so 18+ only. Wrote this instead of working on higher priority WIPs.
Tumblr media
You twist the handle for the hot water off, steam being the only thing that filled the small shower around you now. After the long day you had, a nice, hot shower was the only thing that seemed to help take the edge off. With a sigh, you step from the warmth surrounding you, reaching for the towel and swiftly tucking in the side to preserve your modesty.
As you exit from the bathroom, you swipe meaninglessly through your phone, scrolling through photos posted from friends and the odd targeted advertisement. With a small ding a new notification graces the top of your screen. An old friend of yours, Patrick, that you had kept in touch with throughout the years, had recently reached out and was sending memes he thought you would like. Seeing as the two of you had similar jobs, they were mostly focused on that. Innocent enough, but it wasn’t worth looking at now.
Without taking much notice of your surroundings, you walk between the bathroom and into the kitchen in search of a snack to quell your cravings. Noah was leaning on the counter in the middle of the kitchen, elbows propping up with one hand curled into a fist under his chin, the other scrolling through something on his phone. His eyes were slightly glazed over, a side effect of the doom scrolling that he often fell into. You side-eye him as you walk past, pulling an unimpressed face as you responsibly reach for an apple.
The bite you take makes a loud crunch that is the only sound that breaks the silence in the room. The chewing that follows is equally as loud and disturbing, echoing as an irritating wet, mushy slurp. You kept your eyes on Noah as you took a second loud bite from the apple, knowing full well he loathes the sound.
Another scroll with his thumb flashes bright colours and fast-moving videos on his phone, still unaware of your presence.
A third bite of the apple, this one finally earning a reaction. His head slowly turns, pivoting on the hand that he still has balancing under his chin, his eyes landing on you as you take a fourth, menacingly slow and obnoxiously loud bite.
And then it is a stare-down. You refuse to let up, keeping a blank expression on your face as you grind down, meticulously masticating the organic surgery fruit. Noah squinted his eyes, knowing full well that it was your intention to bother him. He clicks his phone so the screen locks, and places it gently on the counter.
“Alright! That’s it!” he finally calls as you lift the apple, almost gone now, to your mouth dramatically slowly for another bite, although you never get to take it. Noah stands and strides over to you, snatching the apple from your hands, tossing it into the bin that sat in the corner of the room. It was immediately after that you were tossed over his shoulder, flailing in a panic. He turned on his heels and speed-walks to the bedroom. You bounced slightly as the pace he held wasn’t one that was all that graceful. He was laughing maniacally at your feeble attempts to squirm from his grasp. You would never tell him that you weren’t actually trying.
With a jostle and a thud, he dumps you on your back, the soft mattress bouncing below you. You fight playfully, trying your best to catch Noah’s fast and nimble hands as they darted in and out, tickling your sides. His smile is palpable, his hair wavering from side to side as he adjusts his plan of attack every time you twist and turn under him. He has his knees pinned by your sides, grey sweats and a black t-shirt lingering over you as his colourful, decorated arms and neck looked ever so enticing. You couldn't help but notice the way that his pants twitched as he continued to hold you pinned down on the bed.
In a sudden change of heart, his hands stop, grasping your wrists and holding them above your head in one of his hands. He drops his face so that it is an inch from yours. His breath wafted over your face and you smiled, glancing between his intense gaze and watching the way he licked his lips.
“How was your shower? Did it fix your bad day?” He asked. His head tilted to the side slightly. The question sounded innocent enough, right?
“I’m still a little tense,” you reply. And you were honest with your response. It was a long day. When you arrived home, your bags were quickly dumped on the floor by the door haphazardly, a huff leaving you in an attempt to exult some of the emotion that had pent up all day. Working with kids was difficult on a normal day, but there must have been something in the air today for them to be as wild as they were. Noah knew you were in a less-than-ideal mood. Bless his soul, he did try and help, but the best thing you could do was to wash the day away. Now, even after a shower, the aftereffects of a bad day were still lingering despite being only towel-clad underneath your boyfriend.
“Turn over” he motions with his head, releasing your hands from his vice grip allowing you to lay on your stomach instead. In the midst of this motion, he tweaks his fingers under the top of where your towel sat, tugging at the tuck that held it secure. You had a sharp inhale as the cold air hit your bare skin, still warm and slightly damp from your shower.
You heard Noah hum behind you and you glance over your shoulder back at him, but he doesn't see your face. Instead, his eyes are trailing down your body, pupils dilating when he sets his sight on your ass.
Noah was an ass man for sure. And he was obsessed with yours. He would always be so handsy with you, the odd playful slap here and there, tucking his hand into your back pocket to cop a feel when he probably shouldn't be, even his favourite sex positions were the ones where it was front and centre in his view.
You tucked your hands under your chin, still twisting so that you could see Noah in your peripherals. His hands started to glide over your back, down your sides, following the sweet contours of your body. Noah let out a low growl from deep within, but you’re certain he wasn’t aware of half the noises he was making; the deep breaths, slight gasps and quiet moans.
Using all of his restraint, Noah tears his gaze from your ass and lifts his body so that he is kneeling over you, hands now placed on your shoulders. He could still feel the tension in the knots that had built up over time, forming firm ridges across your shoulders and back. Tattooed digits started to knead into the tender muscles twisting under your skin. The pressure mixed with the slow circles made you close your eyes and let out an involuntary moan. Noah hummed and smiled to himself, knowing the power this had over you. You were such a sucker for massages, and could never deny having Noah;s hands all over your body.
He continued to try his best to break down the clusters of tension, twisting and rubbing at the bundles that had gathered over a long time. Your head would roll from one side to the other, allowing Noah to work into different areas and use different pressures to make some kind of difference. Noah would be lying if he said he didn’t love it too. Having his hands all over you? Making you feel good? Knowing full well that this often led to something far more exciting? Yes please.
It was at this moment, as you were about to be lost to Noah’s touch and oblivious to the world, when your phone dinged again. Lifting it up to your face, another notification from your old friend lit up the phone that was strewn carelessly on the bed next to you.
Noah’s hands stopped.
“Who’s Patrick’?” Noah asks, the slighted hint annoyance in this voice. You readjusted your position so you could see Noah’s face, his expression blank. You tried to wriggle so you could twist from under him, but his legs tensed and squeezed you so you were stuck, completely at his mercy.
“He’s an old friend. Has a similar job. Been sending me some memes about work. He sent me one earlier but I didn’t respond so he’s probably sending another” you answer.
“Sending you memes, huh? He does this often?” Noah’s leg muscles were still tense beside you as he sat back on his haunches, warm calloused hands now retreating from your body.
“I mean, a little bit. He reached out last week after he started a new job with someone I used to know.” You pause, Noah’s demeanour was changing before your very eyes. Now, he seemed a little standoffish.
Noah makes a “Hmff” noise in response.
“Noah?” He doesn’t respond. “Are you jealous?”
No response again.
“Noah” you call once more.
“You’re seriously moody because I have been talking to an old friend?” You prop your head up on your hands in an effort to get a better view of Noah. Although you could see his face, he had turned to look across the room beyond you, and he seemed perplexed.
“Fine. Don’t talk to me. That's totally fine” you say sarcastically, shifting underneath him to slip out from his legs still perched beside you. Before you could free yourself entirely, Noah leaves. He stands and crosses the room, disappearing into your walk-in robe. Sounds of shuffling items then follows.
You twist and sit up, pulling the towel back around you. Your gaze was down at trying to hitch the material back into a safe tuck as you ignored the kerfuffle Noah was making when he walked back into the room.
Just as you are satisfied with the towel adjustments, Noah’s hands are on you, pushing you back down onto the bed. He hovers over you again, but now his eyes were dark and his motions were very intentional.
You go to speak, but Noah shakes his head and stands again, holding a firm grip on your hips so that you swivel to a new angle, diagonal across the bed, and spinning so that you land back onto your stomach, just like before.
Your eyes glance up in front of you and you see what the commotion Noah was making before. A full body-length mirror was now sat up leaning against the wall, allowing for your reflection to stare right back at you. You look up at Noah through your eyelashes in the mirror, raising an eyebrow quizzically at you, trying to figure out the expression Noah has spread all over his face. That is, until it hits. It’s a look of desire.
He proceeds to crawl over you, leaning forward on closed fists so that they land on either side of your head before rising to be on his knees. Illustrated hands that contrast with the towel hitch around your hips, yanking them up fast and forcefully so that your knees fall under you, perching your ass high.
You couldn’t help but have a smirk plastered on your face; Noah on the other hand, still doing his best to hold a poker face. His gaze wanders down, allowing his hands to rub possessively over your cheeks under the fuzzy material. They dance lightly over your hips, then begin the trace lines on the insides of your thighs. You let out a high-pitched whimper as an automatic response. You had no control over what influence Noah had on your body, let alone when you were like this.
Noah’s eyes didn’t leave your face, so you teasingly leant back, pressing your skin closer to him. Your breath started to quicken, hitching in your throat when his nimble fingers flicked at the towel causing it to slip down, exposing your body once again. Noah struggled to keep his composure as he took the sights, expression faltering slightly and his hands moved to your folds immediately feeling the warm wetness on his fingertips.
Your eyes slipped closed, relishing in the lightest of touches that Noah was gracing you with, that was until one hand came down with a hard slap on your ass, and the fingers teasing you were gone.
Your eyes shoot open and your body jolts in reaction, except Noah clamps his hands on your hips and pulls you back closer to him.
“Keep them open” he growls, and you watch the way his mouth twitches as his fingers return to your folds, one hand grabbing a handful of the tender skin of your ass cheek perched up in his direction. You lock eyes in the mirror. “I want you to see who’s you are,” he continued.
Slowly, one finger glides into your pussy. It might not be enough, but it’s something. You rock back in the slightest way, and Noah’s grip tightens on your ass. He gives you a warning glance, before his eyes move to his digit disappearing into your folds. It curls up inside you, like he was beckoning you to come closer. The caressing on your inside walls slowly pumps out, and then in again. A rhythm started to build and he added a second finger.
Starting to feel more full, your eyes begin to close, but you remember the demands before they fully shut. Instead, you peer through half-closed slits and admire the way Noah’s hips were starting to grind against you. There was a mound growing in his pants, grazing against your inner thigh, telling you that he is loving this.
“Does that feel good?” He murmurs from behind you, and his eyes are back on yours in the mirror. You nod and hum in response, sliding a hand back behind you to reach for Noah. He takes your hand, grasps it firmly, and places it on your back. It’s feels unnatural, but not unformatabme. Your fingers intertwine as acts almost like an anchor. For you? For Noah? You’re not sure, maybe even both of you.
“Say my name” he demands.
“N….” You start, and he flicks his wrist, stopping any ability to control your voice. Instead, a moan escapes.
“What was that?” He whispers, twisting his fingers again in the same motion.
“Nooaaahhhhh…” the end of his name escapes your mouth as a sigh, as though it could have very well been your last breath.
Noah’s fingers disappear from inside you, slipping out and bringing with it some of the wetness that is all but dripping from your pussy.
“What do you want?” He asks. But you can’t speak. The emptiness turns into an ache. All you can do is stare at him in the mirror and watch as he slides his fingers into his mouth, letting drips of your own liquids run down his chin. His eyes are blown wide and dark with desire, and he notices the way your legs twitch closer when his tongue graces the space between his two fingers, curling up to clean them of any remnants of you on them.
“I- I want you” you are able to stammer out between the heavy breaths.
He grins a devilish grin and shifts his weight, struggling to jam down his sweats to his thighs with one hand, ignoring his own wet patch of precum that had soaked through the front of them. His hand then lands on the outside of your thigh, in the crease where it meets your hip, as he steadies himself. You can feel the tip of his cock nudge at your entrance, and then he pauses.
His dark eyes are locked in on yours, looking through his eyelashes, and moving his eyes, slowly rocks his hips forward. The pressure is achingly slow. He is teasing you. Letting you know that he is in control here.
Your free hand grasps at fbe sheets below you, trying in some way to let out the tension that is building. The other hand still intertwined with Noah’s behind you tightens in grip. He gives his own squeeze back, almost as a reassurance. Your mouth falls open and eyebrows twist, anticipation causing you to be entirely out of control if your own body movements. You feel him inside, yet it’s the lack of rhythmic motion that is missing.
Your hips buck forward involuntarily, something deep within you just pleading for more friction between you and Noah, and he picks up on it. He begins to drag his cock out of you, placing his free hand on the inside of your thigh, tapping it with grace as though to say ‘open more’. You do as you’re told, shifting the weight to one leg and the other swings out to make a wide gap between your legs. Noah doesn’t hesitate after that.
His shaft is hammering back into you. In and out like a jackhammer. The fingers of his free hand now sitting dangerously and teasingly close to the tight ring of muscle that sat between your asscheecks. You look at his face in the mirror; a sheen of sweat building over his face after only a minute of fucking, his brows furrowed as he stares intently at the work he is doing on your behind. Nails dig into the tender flesh of your derriere as Noah tilts his head back.
You feel the white hot glow begin to burn inside you. Noah is not taking any chances tonight, his hand leaving yours on your back to tangle with the mess of hair on your head. It was already knotted, but Noah intertwined his fingers with it, tugging with little force to bring your chin up.
Your legs were shaking at this point, and it could have been from the pleasure or the absolute hammering they were receiving. There was a growl from Noah which drowned out the hum of the tv from the other room, but you couldn’t tell what he actually said. The skin on skin slapping sounding even sloppier by the second. He was getting close, he was starting to fumble over his rhythm, but he could see that you just weren’t as close to your release as he was.
His hand leaves the tangle of your messy hair, keeping his eye contact in the mirror, and lands on the underside of your belly. You can feel him pull towards him, another silent instruction. Pushing on your arms, you felt weak. They shivered underneath you and you rose to your elbows, then up on your palms.
“More. Against me” Noah hums through a tight jaw. The pounding from behind you was starting to slow and you knew he couldn’t hold on for much longer.
With the right shift of weight, you right yourself on your knees, feeling the sweaty, warm sensation of Noah’s heaving body on your back. His arm wrapped around your chest, settling with an open palm grasping needily at your breast. He grabbed, twisted and pinched at your nipple, caressing what he could as he tried his best to focus on bringing you closer. And boy, was it working.
The new position gave you a full frontal view of what state you were in. The mirror was a portal to a world of pleasure and sex, and the only ones who lived there were you and Noah. Nothing else around you mattered. Nothing else around you even existed in this moment.
Your eyes clamp shut as the build of your orgasm was teetering at the edge, threatening to unfurl and throw sensations through your body that only Noah could achieve. There was a tightening around your neck, and as your eyes open, he land on Noah’s is tense stare from behind you.
“I said keep them open” he demanded. “I want you to watch you cum. Watch what I can do to you.”
All you can do is nod. He was never this dominant, but he must have been really ticked off. He had a point to prove, and he was delaying his own paradise just to make it know.
“You’re mine.”
“I’m yours” you whisper.
The hammering of his cock inside you, slamming deep inside of you, paired with the hand that had just dropped to your clit was the magic that brought your orgasm to its peak. There was a flood of heat that washed through you. If it wasn’t for Noah’s arms, you would have collapsed right there in front of him. Your body jerked involuntarily as Noah let you ride out the electricity. His eyes were on your face, watching as you cried out with his name, hands desperately grabbing at his arm twisted around you.
His muscles flexed as he held you up, knowing that you needed him to stay this close, but he couldn’t help but give up the fight of holding back his own orgasm. With a wet jerk of his hips, he slipped from you just in time to let the streams of hot white cum leave him, landing on the lower part of your back. You fall forward, landing with your arms by your face, and let Noah release onto you. You watch as his own eyes close, failing to follow his own rules, and then collapses beside you.
It was minutes before either of you even got your breaths back into a regular pattern. You watch Noah lay on his back, his palm resting on his forehead, and a sex-drunk smile on his face. He turns to look at you, letting out a low chuckle.
“I’d like to see Patrick’s memes beat that.”

A single finger drifts up the side of your body. In your drowsy mind, it takes you a second to register what he is up to. Noah’s lips find the side of your neck. He’s so soft with you as he places gentle little kisses along your neck and jaw to rouse you from your sleep.
You know that it has to be early. It’s still dark outside. And when you lean up to check the digital alarm on his night stand you see that it’s barely two in the morning. The hours until he leaves for tour are trickling away rapidly and as happy as you are for every opportunity they get, watching him leave always stings a little more than you like to admit.
You know that this is a desperate attempt to drag out your time together. Noah always does this before he leaves. You’ll stay over for the week leading up to their departure, even when he’s more away than he is at home. But you know that he wants to have you close at night, that he wants to memorise every little thing about you – as if he doesn’t already know everything about you. This dance has become a tradition. His mind is too wired up to sleep properly, and at some point during the night the need to be close to you will become so strong that he just can’t help himself any more. Sometimes it’s difficult for you to fall asleep, too. Sometimes you find yourself waiting for his curious fingers and exploring lips.
His breath scatters across your skin as he stays so very close as he kisses along the side of your face and along your jaw. You let him kiss you for a moment longer. But when his lips find that spot below your ear, you can’t hold your tongue any longer.
“Knew you were awake.” He whispers against your skin.
Your breath catches in your throat when his hand drifts across your belly. A shudder runs through your body, and you’re not sure if it’s because his hand is so cold or because your body is already so alert to every single sensation. You let yourself soak in the sensations of his touch for a moment. His touch is so soft, so gentle, as if he’s still trying not to wake you up.
He lets out a sigh, as his hand brushes along your side, “Can I have you, baby? Please, I need to feel you again.”
You can’t deny him. Not when you need him just as much.
Your hand finds the side of his face and you steer him to meet your lips. Your eyes fall shut, and you let the feeling consume all of you. The warmth that fills you, the need for him that suddenly boils over.
Your lips remain locked as you feel him shift next to you. His hand drifts lower on your body. Cold fingers tracing across your heated skin. He finds your centre, and you squirm a little when you feel his cool skin against yours. It’s so dizzyingly slow. Your head swims with the circles he draws across your clit.
“Noah.” you gasp, wrapping your hand around his forearm.
He presses a kiss against your jaw, “I know. I know, baby. I just –” his fingers dip lower, “God you’re so wet already.”
He sounds as breathless as you feel. Noah leans in for another kiss, this one just as tender as the last. There’s no rush tonight. You’ll have until after the sun rises to commit every inch of him to memory. He shifts himself on top of you, and you part your thighs willingly.
His broad frame drowns out the rest of the room. You take a moment to admire him. The hard work that has gone into all of this. When you’d first met him, he’d been a scrawny kid, with arms and legs that felt somehow too long for his shape. By the time you’d asked him out for the first time, he’d already bulked up significantly. None of that compared to him now. It had given him so much confidence, and you loved it. You loved watching him find his footing, his voice. And it reflects when you’re on your own, too. He’s never been shy or hesitant with you, but the added confidence did wonders for him. And truth be told, you like it when he gets a little cocky sometimes. You won’t see that side of him tonight. The intensity is still there, but you know that he’ll be so very tender.
Noah leans down for another kiss. He has one arm braced beside your head, while the other hand trails across your body. His fingers dip between your folds again. You sigh when his fingers press into you. His name is a constant prayer on your breath, silently begging him to finally give you all of him.
His fingers play with you for a moment, working you open at least a little. It’ll still be a stretch, but you know that he’ll take his time. Your vision narrows around him, until the faint imprint of his face in the dark is all you can see. You let your fingers drift up the side of his arm. You can’t help but admire him, even when you can barely see him. He’s gorgeous, there’s no way around it. His fingers curl upwards, and your eyes fall shut at the sudden wave of pleasure that floods through you. You can’t hold back the moan that wants to break from you so desperately.
He breathes out a shush, kisses you so softly that it makes the breath catch in your throat.
“We have to be quiet. Can’t wake them up.” he says quietly.
There had been occasions where one of his roommates had given you that knowing look the morning after, and really you didn’t want to repeat that experience.
You nod. As much as you want to sing his praises, you will yourself to be quiet. There will be a time and a place when you can be as loud as you want with him. And you know that this is just as hard for him.
Carefully as he can with this angle, Noah removes his fingers from you again. Before you can really prepare yourself, you feel the head of his cock pressing against you instead. Your fingers dig deeper into his skin and muscle. His hand comes to rest against your hip, and you can feel a faint residue of your arousal still lingering on his skin.
Noah’s head drops to your shoulder as he sinks deeper into you. His teeth into your shoulder in a desperate attempt to keep himself silent. His body surrounds you entirely and his warmth bleeds into yours like water colour. He is still for a long moment, and his breath fans out against the skin of your shoulder.
It always takes you a moment to get used to the stretch of his cock inside you, and you’re grateful for the restraint he shows tonight. He’s always mindful of your needs, but you also know that the feeling just becomes a little too much for him sometimes.
Your hands wander across his skin, feeling the taut muscle beneath it as they do. His skin prickles a little when you trace your fingers across the back of his arm and up to his shoulder.
“You can move.” you whisper, and in return you feel him draw in a deep breath, “Please.”
You feel him kiss the slope of your shoulder, the curve that trails into your neck, “Feel too good, baby. Give me a second.”
He shifts above you, adjusts himself to alleviate some of the strain on his composure. You wonder what it feels like for him sometimes. He doesn’t shy away from telling you how good the tight clutch of your body feels around him, but you can’t help but wonder. You love watching his face twist up in pleasure when he rests this close against you. Seeing him so affected by you makes you feel a little dizzy, and you wonder if it feels the same for him.
Noah lifts his head from your shoulder then. He sets himself upright, still braced beside your head. He pulls back until just the head of his cock remains sheathed inside of you.
Noah makes a broken little noise, and it sends a wave of something indistinguishable through you. His face crumples when he sinks into you again.
He stays close after that. The movements of his hips are so minuscule that you think that he is entirely still at times. He rocks into you so slow and deep, that you can feel yourself falling apart bit by bit. You try to keep yourself silent, but every time his hips meet yours, you feel your resistance crumble a little more.
You hook one of your legs over his waist in an effort to keep him even closer. Your movement changes the angle just enough to make you gasp out loud.
His lips press against the corner of your mouth as he hushes out another shush.
There’s little rhythm to his movements for once. But it matters little. The hushed words he whispers against your skin barely reach your ears. You swear that your vision is growing fuzzy around the edges. It’s all so much.
You pull him closer, wrap your arms around him so that he can’t escape you again. He gasps against your skin. The weight of his body on top of yours should be too much, but at that moment it does nothing but comfort you. You don’t know how much more of this you can take. This isn’t like the times when you try to push each other as far as you possibly can, no, this is so much more intense.
Your hands find their way into his hair, so that you can bring him back to your lips. It’s barely a kiss, with the way he keeps breaking away to sigh out the sweetest praises. You don’t think that you could love him more. The whispered confessions of love reverberate around your chest and burrow themselves into you. You hope that this will stay with you while he’s gone.
His forehead presses against yours as he picks up his pace just a little. The rhythm is erratic, irregular, and you know that he won’t last much longer. You grip tighter into his hair, hoping to ground yourself somewhat. It’s futile though. There’s a sense of levity in your body, a warmth that makes your head swim even more.
Noah buries his face in the side of your neck, “Not gonna last, baby.”
The hand that has been gripping his shoulder finds its way down between your thighs. You find yourself soaked. It shouldn’t come as a surprise. Your fingers slide across your clit so easily, and you know that it won’t take much now.
The tight coil in your belly unravels more than it snaps. The feeling of him spilling inside of you is almost indulgent. It’s pure bliss. Pleasure in its purest form, and you’ve never felt more connected to him than you do at that moment. Perhaps this is what floating in zero gravity feels like. And yet, you can’t bring yourself to close your eyes. Even with the overwhelming wash of pleasure, you have to force yourself to look at him. You need to burn the sights and sounds of him into your memory, keep him there until you get to see him again weeks down the line.
He stills then, his body still covering yours. His breathing is laboured, heavy against your neck. You card your fingers through his hair.
You feel a whispered thank you against your clavicle, quickly followed by a tender kiss. He rests against you like that for a long moment. You know that he dreads the sunrise just as much as you do. If you could, you’d come with him, make sure that he doesn’t have to spend a single night on his own. Maybe it’s a little selfish too, because really you don’t want to be without him either.
Noah detaches himself eventually. You can’t stay away for long, though. Your head finds a comfortable space against his chest. And as much as you want to stay awake and bask in his presence until you’ll eventually have to climb out of bed, the steady beat of his heart slowly lulls you back to sleep.
And when the morning comes and that dreadful sound of his alarm sounds through the room, you wish that you could make him stay. Maybe if you remain here, like a rock placed upon his chest, he’ll stay. You know it won’t work. He’ll be back before long, and while you dread it now, hearing his ecstatic review of the show when he calls at night will make it worth it. This is what he burns for, and you knew what you signed up for when he asked you out.
You won’t cry until they’re out of the door and down the road. When you curl yourself back into his sheets to hide away for a moment longer, you find a crumpled piece of paper sticking out from under the pillow.
I love you. Don’t cry. It’s only three weeks.
The wonky little heart scribbled next to his name makes it feel a little better.
It’s only three weeks.

Mine [Noah Sebastian x Singer!Reader]
DIVIDER ART WORK BY @cafekitsune
Tumblr media
PAIRING: Noah Sebastian x Singer!Reader (female)
SUMMARY: You are Noah's girlfriend and helped him out during the concert, because he lost his voice. After the performance he wants to thank you.
WARNINGS: swearing, SMUT, MDNI, 18+, unprotected sex (P in V) (don’t do that), fingering, (let me know if i missed something)
A/N: Surprise! Two uploads today! This idea came to my mind because of I See Stars and Erra helping the boys out. If you enjoyed it, please consider reblogging!
TAGLIST: @measuredingold (LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANNA BE ADDED TO MY TAGLIST)
Tumblr media
Today had been entirely different than you originally thought. You visited your boyfriend of almost a year on tour and planned to stay in the background.
Being a well known singer in a band as well, you met the boys over a mutual friend, Jesse Cash. You had met Jesse around three years ago when he helped you and your band write on your new album and even featured on it.
Becoming friends with Jesse made it almost impossible to not meet the boys and you were more than pleasantly surprised of how well you all got along.
You almost immediately clicked with Noah, having this mutual interest in music and creating art while living similar lifestyles.
It almost came naturally how quickly Noah and you got closer. First it started with some hang outs that often included creating music together. Those hang outs quickly turned into self-named "friend dates" and before you really realised it, you were suddenly the "friends" who thought it was totally normal to occasionally make out and have sex.
It took you almost a year to admit your feelings for each other. But when you finally did, you did everything you could to find time for each other.
You two being singers of bands that had the opportunity to blow up over night, made it pretty hard to match schedules.
That is why you were more than relieved when you got a couple of weeks off and decided to join your boyfriend and your friends on their tour.
But when you arrived your happy mood quickly changed. After greeting Folio and Jesse, you asked were your boyfriend was but when you found him, he looked everything but happy.
"Hey, Baby. What’s wrong?" You immediately asked and left your suitcase next to the door before quickly wrapping your arms around him.
Almost instantly he returned your hug while sighing and rested his head against your neck.
"I'm so fucking done." You immediately noticed what the problem was. His voice was hoarse and rough.
"Oh no…" You muttered under your breath and rubbed his back.
"I couldn’t even sing yesterday. We had to cut the set short." He confessed to you and slowly let go of you.
"Why didn’t you tell me? I could have brought my special tea and some goodies to make you feel better, Noah." You asked him and caressed his cheek. A smile crept onto his face. "You know, I love you so much, Y/N."
"I love you, too."
Tumblr media
The next couple of hours were filled with planning and even thinking about cancelling the show but when you all set down and ate, Jesse had an idea.
"What if we help you sing? You just sing what you can and we all step in when you can’t." He explained and Matt started to nod. You saw how stressed Matt was, trying to make the best out of the suboptimal situations that kept on happening this tour. "That would actually be a great idea. We can ask Devin, too."
"Y/N can step in, too." Jesse than suggested and gave you a careful look. You stopped chewing when you heard that sentence and immediately looked between Noah and Jesse.
This would have been a big step, considering the fan base didn’t really know about yours and Noah's relationship. It wasn’t like you were really secretive about it, a lot of them were even guessing it, since you always seemed to be near each other but you never really confirmed anything. If you would sing tonight, there would be little to no doubt that something was definitely going on, considering the fact that you had no reason to be there otherwise than being close with one of the boys.
Your eyes locked with Noah’s, who seemed to wait for a response from you while you waited for his. When he didn’t speak up, you cleared your through before taking a sip from you water.
"I could, if you want me to." You offered and felt how Noah's hand slipped onto your thigh. He gave you a reassuring squeeze before looking at the others. "I would love that."
Tumblr media
Erra had finished their set ten minutes prior and now you started to sweat. You wouldn’t be on that stage until they played Just Pretend and for Dethrone at the end, but your heart was racing.
"Are you okay?" You heard a voice behind you and shortly after felt a hand on your shoulder. Jesse.
You quickly gave him a smile and nodded. "Yeah. Just nervous."
"You know, you don’t have to do it. Devin can step in for you. I can step in for you." Jesse tried to calm your nerves. He knew exactly why you were this nervous.
"No, I'll do it." You reassured him and he nodded. "It’s just scary, you know. It’s always been just Noah and I. We didn’t answer any questions that had to do with our relationship status, we just kept everything to ourselves and this is going to change now."
"You'll be great." Jesse answered you and you quickly gave him a hug.
Tumblr media
When you sang the last note of the song, you felt relieve. The applause totally overwhelmed you, when you suddenly felt a hand sneak around your waist. It was Noah. His eyes were shimmering and his smile was the brightest you had ever seen. It had been a complete success.
You had to grin so much that your cheeks started to hurt. It wasn't like you never experienced something like that, but it just felt different to stand on that stage with your boyfriend.
You all bowed to the audience before walking ever so slowly off the stage. As soon as you were backstage, you all fell into each other's arms.
"THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!" Folio exclaimed while slightly jumping up and down. You still couldn't stop smiling. The crowd had been amazing and you had so much fun performing with your boyfriend that you forgot about your concerns entirely. Hell, if you had the option right now you would broadcast to the whole world how much you loved him.
"It was absolutely brilliant." Jolly praised the whole group. Jesse still held onto you before pinching your cheek. "You did so well, I had goose bumps." - "You are one to talk. You sounded so great."
Noah still grinned from ear to ear while looking at you all. "I had so much fun. Thank you all so much for helping me out."
"You did so great, Noah. Even with your not so healthy voice." You praised your boyfriend before giving him a big kiss. He held you close when you broke the kiss again.
When the group made their way to the lounge room, you and Noah walked behind them all. He didn't let go of your hands since you walked off the stage and right now you couldn't be happier.
Right when you were about to catch up to the others, you were dragged into the bathroom that was in the corridor before the lounge. You heard the click of the door, which showed you that it was locked.
"Noah, what-..." You tried to say but you were met with his lips on yours. You instantly felt goose bumps form on your body while he kissed you like you would disappear if he stopped.
"This is your reward, baby." He whispered in your ear and seconds later he softly bit your neck. You could feel how wet you got just from that.
He pressed you against the door and kissed his way back to her face. Before you could even catch a straight thought, he opened your pants and let them slight down your legs while kissing you hard.
"You did so well. You sounded like an angel." He almost moaned into your mouth while his hand found its way into your underwear. You moaned out his name when his fingers found your clit. Even though you already got used to his touches, this time felt so different to you.
His fingers began to circle your clit with swift motions and you felt like you were crumbling into little pieces right in front of him. Your hands found their way into his short hair. At times like this you missed his longer hair, because you couldn't grab onto his shirt hair that easily anymore.
"Fuck. I love you so much." You moaned and let your head fall against the door while you slowly started to shake under his touch.
You almost let out a scream when he suddenly stopped fingering you and instead lifted you onto the bathroom counter in a swift motion. You didn't have the time to react properly because he kissed you again.
"You don't know how much it turned me on, seeing you sing my song on that fucking stage." He groaned into your mouth and pulled your underwear down. "Showing every single one how proud you are to be my girlfriend."
"Fuck, I love being yours." You cried out and started to pull on his tank top to get it off of him.
He smiled at you when you finally got the shirt off of him. "Look at you, so needy." - "Only because of you."
You easily opened his pants, but when you tried to pull them off of him, he grabbed your hands and looked you in the eyes. "This is about you, my love. Not me." - "Please, Noah. I need you."
He stared into your eyes but you couldn't form a clear thought in your head and whined again. "Please, Noah. I haven't felt you in so long."
"Is this really what you want?" He asked you in a deep tone and you still could noticed how rough his voice was. You needed to take care of him later. "Please."
"God, you drive me insane, Y/N." He groaned against your mouth before stepping back to pull his pants and underwear down. You felt a rush of heat run through your body when you saw his hardened cock leaking with pre-cum. You needed him so bad, you almost cried out again.
Your whole body felt like it was on fire, while you leaned a bit more over the edge of the counter to get closer to him. He ran a hand through his hair, before stepping between your legs and lining himself with your entrance.
He looked you in the eyes again while slowly sinking into you. You moaned out loudly at the feeling of him inside of you, causing him to press a hand over your mouth.
"Even though I love your voice so much, I don't think the boys should hear this." He whispered to you and you slowly began to nod.
His eyes never left yours as he slowly started to move his hips.
He furrowed his eyebrows and his mouth dropped slightly open. His heavy breaths turned in to quiet moans and you thought you were about to lose your mind at the noises he made.
"You feel so fucking good." He almost cried out, causing you to get goose bumps before wrapping your arms tightly around his neck. When his thrusts became harder, you felt his hands squeeze your hips even more. You were sure he would leave bruises.
"I love you so much." You whined when you started to feel your orgasm form in your stomach. His head fell onto your shoulder and you felt him twitching inside of you. He also was close.
"I love you." He moaned in your ear and sent you over the edge with that.
You bit down onto his shoulder to contain your moans while you reached your high, clenching around him.
"Oh God." Noah moaned into your ear while his thrusts became more irregular before you felt his cum spread inside of you.
You both held onto each other, while you came down from your highs, before you started to giggle lightly.
"What?" Your boyfriend asked you and slowly pulled out of you, causing you to whine quietly at the loss of contact.
"What's so funny?" He asked again when he started to clean you up.
"You tell me to be quiet, just to almost scream." You teased him and pressed a kiss on his forehead, when he gave you a shocked look.
With that you jumped of the counter and reached for your clothes, when he grabbed your hips and turned you to face him.
"If you tease me again, I'll make sure, you're the one to scream." He threatened you.
"PLEASE DON'T. THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO ENJOY THERE EVENING WITHOUT HEARING A FULL ON PORN FROM NEXT DOOR." You heard Ruffilo shout through the door of the bathroom.
Your eyes widened and you quickly got ready to leave, but before Noah could reach the door, you grabbed his hand and pull him towards you.
You kiss him deeply, before whispering against his lips: "Now, let's get you into bed. I'll take care of you."
"God, I love you."

Please don’t keep me waiting.
Noah Sebastian X Reader (uses she/her pronouns, referred to as a girl)
Tumblr media
A/N: This is my first time writing for THE attractive, tall man. Your girl is a new fan <3 Feel free to lore dump on me in my asks/dms. This piece is hella self indulgent, because all I want is a detailed tattoo tour from Noah himself. 🧎🏻‍♀️
Summary: Twitch streaming a tattoo tour with your best friend and his viewers catch on to your natural chemistry. Noah notices a change in your demeanor due to their comments and bugs you for a talk in private once the camera is off.
Content: Use of y/n, fem!reader, fluffy things, very slight angst. This fic lacks smut, but my content is intended for an adult audience, MDNI.
Word Count: 1k
“You can take my chair,” your best friend, Noah, pushes his gaming chair in your direction. You thank him and shyly slide into his chair. You notice your feet slightly dangle above the carpet in his bedroom.
Noah had pulled in a chair from his dining table and sat next to you excitedly while pulling up his account to go live.
“Y/N, I’m so fuckin’ happy you agreed to stream with me today,” he exclaims while clicking about his screen. “It’s been forever since we’ve gotten to hang together just us two, huh?” He smiles, turning to look at your face.
You smile back, of course, even though you couldn’t keep yourself from fidgeting in your seat out of nervousness. Well it won’t just be the two of us, you think. This was your first time on stream with him and you noticed from past streams that his viewers. always loved when he had a guest on; you just hope they’ll love you too.
“You ready?” He asks.
“Mhmm,” is what you manage before he clicks “Start Streaming” and a window with “Stream Starting Soon” pops up in front of you.
“I’ll just give, like, five minutes for people to start coming in before we actually start,” he reassures. “What did you want to do on stream? Your choice since it’s your first time.” He leans in towards you.
“We could do—“, you hum and your eyes search across his bedroom for ideas. Your eyes land on his thigh. He’s wearing shorts today and his Itachi tattoo sparks your idea.
“You’ve never done a tattoo tour have you?” You smile excitedly.
“You just want me to take off my shirt, huh?” He laughs and sways into your shoulder.
You blush. Of course I do, you think. “I’m being serious! Also, isn’t that TOS? I don’t think you can flash your nips online, Noah.”
He laughs, “Fine, I think it’s a good idea. I’ll show off as long as you show yours too.” He points toward your forearms.
“Noah,” you whine. “They don’t know me. They’re not interested in mine.”
“Well you better get ready, because we’re starting.”
In less than a second, your faces appear on the screen along with his stream layout.
Comments started off with “heys and hellos”, but got a little apprehensive to you after a minute.
I thought it would just be you :/
Wishing that were me omg
Who’s the girl?
Noah introduces you to his viewers, “Hello hello. This is Y/N, they’re my company for today. She’s been one of my best friends for years and she came up with today’s stream idea. We’ll both be showing off our tattoos, talking about them, and answering questions if you have them.”
You spent an hour with him as he showed off his neck, arms, and hands to the camera. You watched as his fingers brushed against his own skin to show different parts of his arms. You can’t help but imagine his hands caressing you in the same way.
As time passed, you and Noah shared flirtatious banter and inside jokes. The comments started to warm up and even encouraged the way you two interacted.
Aww love that he gave her his chair, so cute
The way he looks at her omg
She can’t stop looking at his hands SAME
You read the comments as they floated up his screen. While it warmed your heart to know that his fans felt comfortable about your relationship with Noah, you couldn’t help but have negative thoughts intrude your mind about what could happen if you ever pursued him.
“Y/N, show some of yours, he whispers to you once he’s finished. Before you can retaliate, he softly places a hand on your arm. He turns it to the inside, which shows an illustrated piece of a black cat right under the crease of your elbow.
So cuuuute
Love! I also have a cat tattoo
You smile toward the sweet comments in chat. Noah gives you a look of I told you so before mentioning that they’d be ending the steam after you showed off the tattoos you felt comfortable with.
— — —
The stream has ended and you’re left sitting in silence with him next to you.
“So, what’d you think?” He pushes his hair back before finally looking at you from his screen. “Hey, are you feeling okay?”
He watches as you frown and deny eye contact. He reaches across your lap to put a hand on your knee. He pulls you and you spin to face him so your knees touch.
“Will you please talk to me?”
“Yeah, I’m sorry,” you mutter. “It’s just— a lot of different feelings came up for me, and I don’t know what to think.”
“Like what? The chat, my fans, they loved you. I thought you were having as much fun as I was. I saw you smiling when they said we were cute together.” He grins while placing his hands in yours. You look down at them in your lap.
“I want to be cute together in more than just a friend way,” you admit. “I’m sorry.” You shut your eyes and squeeze his hands.
“Please don’t apologize for that, Y/N,” he huffs. His thumb brushes back and forth against the back of your hand, “I feel the same way, but I guess was scared to admit that, too.”
You explain to him how the idea of ruining your friendship haunts you or how he might feel pressure to have you in the public eye. “I just wish I told you so much sooner. It would have made things easier.”
“I’m ready to try now if you are.” He smiles softly while wiping a tear from your cheekbone. “In fact, I know where a couple of nerds like us could go on our first date,” he gushes and raises his brows teasingly.
You already know you’re headed to your favorite arcade bar with him at your side by the weekend. The thought of you being able to be closer than ever calms your nerves and gives you hope for your future together.

(Noah’s.) he didn’t go out, he went to bed early. she doesn’t realize and she’s like “what are you doing in my bed?”
neither of them end up moving, and it doesn’t help that she’s a cuddly drunk. plus, he has a hard time saying no to you 🥺💗

"Easy there, girl."
You giggled as Nicholas helped you onto the bus, his hands pressed against the small of your back to keep you in place. You didn't even mean to drink this, usually not one to do so, but after Folio had challenged you to see how many shots you could take in under a minute you had to prove to him that it definitely was more than two. Now here you were, giggling obnoxiously to yourself as Nicholas guided you onto the bus, feet tripping over one another.
"Nick," You hum, eyes squinting around the bus. "Is the room spinning?"
"It very much is not. You," A finger pressed to your forehead, and you barely registered that Nicholas was now in front of you, a smile tugging at his lips, "are very much drunk, though. Come on, let's get you to bed. Go change and I'll get you some water and Tylenol for that headache that should be kicking in... now."
You go to retort, but there was already a dull pain in the back of your head causing you to wince. Your headaches came a lot earlier when you drank, not waiting until the morning to hit. You give him a grateful smile when he hands you your bag you kept above one of the seats up front, knowing your drunk ass could not get that even if you tried your hardest, and you pulled out a change of clothes and made your way back to the very small, and very tight bathroom.
You change, clumsily, and shuffle your way back to the front of the bus where Nicholas was waiting for you. You take the Tylenol and bottle of water gratefully, swallowing down the medicine in one go. You take a few more sips of water, realizing just how thirsty you were before deciding you were good to go, twisting the cap back on a tossing it onto the couch.
“Good?” You nod, giving Nicholas a thumbs up in response. He smiles. “Alright. I’m gonna meet back up with guys, but Noah’s still here.”
Your brows furrow for a moment before you remember that Noah is still on the bus, opting out of going out with you and the crew after tonight’s show. You give Nicholas another nod as your response.
“If you need anything, just wake Noah up. He’ll get you whatever you need.” He leans forward now, tipping his head down to press his lips to your forehead, and you smile brightly up at him when he pulls away. “And if he doesn’t, hit ‘em upside the head and then call me.”
You laugh, “I’m sure I’ll be fine if I need anything. I’m drunk, not injured.”
He rolls his eyes at you before you gently shove him away, pushing him towards the door. You say your goodbyes and watch the door shut behind Nicholas, leaving you to stand alone in the front of the bus all by yourself. You stay put for a second, the dizziness coming back before a yawn rips from you, and you decide to finally shuffle your way towards the bunks.
All you needed was your favorite blanket and your bunk, and that duck squishmallow Noah had gotten you a few months ago. It’s quiet and you think Noah’s probably asleep already, and you yawn again as you finally reach your bunch, pulling the curtain back. You stare quizzically, though, at the man curled up in your bunk, and he stares right back, brows raised and just as confused.
"What the hell are you doing in my bunk?"
Noah blinks at you before pulling his airpods out, a brow raised. "What?"
"I said," You let go of the curtain to place a hand on your hip. "What the hell are you doing in my bunk, Davis?"
He stares at you for a beat before his lips slowly start curling into a smile.
"How drunk are you?" Noah squints at you.
"Why does that matter?" You argue, words slurring slightly. "I'm drunk and you're in my bunk. Two very obvious and true things. Now answer my question."
Noah snorts out a laugh. "You're right about one thing, you definitely are drunk. This is my bunk, though."
If you were sober, you would realize that yes, he was right. This was definitely not your bunk, yours was right below his, but for some reason in your drunk and hazy mind you were sure that this was your bunk. It looked just like it - just like the rest of the damn bunks on this bus - so it had to be true. You purse your lips, arms crossing over your chest.
“Very funny, Noah. Now get out, I’m tired and want to go to sleep.”
“I’m not moving.” He says more firmly, eyes narrowing at you. “This is my bunk, yours is over there.”
You turn as he points to the bunk across from his, the curtains drawn, and you squint. You look back at him, then back at the other bunk, and a voice in the back of your head is telling you that he was right. That was your bunk, not the one Noah was currently occupying. None of your stuff is there, your pillow isn’t even there, but for some reason the drunk – and very stubborn – part of you was firm on your stance.
Noah was in your bunk.
You turn back to him, arms still crossed over your chest, and you square your shoulders. “I’m just gonna climb up if you’re not moving, dude. So, either get out or we’re cuddle buddies for the rest of the night.”
The two of you stare at each other for a moment and you see the exact where Noah’s shoulders drop, realizing there’s no point in arguing with you because you are right (no, you’re not) and he sighs deeply, though you barely catch the slight curl of his lips.
“Whatever. Get in.”
You climb into the bunk beside Noah, slowly because you knew in your inebriated state that was a disaster waiting to happen, and the boy sighs to himself again, rolling onto his side and pressing his back against the wall to make room for you. You roll onto your side, back facing Noah, and press against him. It wasn't hard to do with how tight the space was, and you hummed to yourself when you finally got comfortable enough to relax, pulling the blanket up to your chin.
"Comfy?" You hear Noah murmur behind you.
You nod, "Very."
"Good."
You feel him shift behind you and if you had been sober, maybe the thought of being so close to him would have your skin blazing, but as your thoughts swirl, the only thing you can really think is how nice he feels pressed against you and how comfortable you are. His arm slings over your waist underneath the blanket and you swear he pulls you closer to him, if that was possible. A pleased sigh escapes him, the air fanning over the back of your neck. Now that has your body firing up, tiny goosebumps scattering across your skin. You melt against him.
"Why didn't you go out?" You ask through a yawn, eyes fluttering.
"Didn't want to."
"Why not? Everyone else did."
"Just wasn't in the mood," He mumbles behind you, his breath fanning against the back of your neck again. "Cold? You got goosebumps.”
You shake your head but feel Noah pull you closer anyways, sweatpant covered legs slipping in between yours. His limbs snake around yours and practically confines you, locking you against him. You're finding out that you like it way more than you probably should for a friend, but the drunken haze of your mind doesn't care too much about the technicalities of it all.
"Did you miss me?" You ask after another beat of silence, and you feel Noah's body tense behind you.
“…Maybe."
"Maybe?"
"Yeah, maybe."
You pause. "Is that why you're in my bunk right now? Because you missed me?"
Noah lets out a groan and you can't help but smirk, soft giggles escaping you. You feel his hand move down to your hip, pushing your shirt up slightly to pinch at your skin playfully and you squeal, squirming against him. You barely move because this six-three, giant man has you tight in his grasp, and you feel his chest move against your back with his laughter.
"Oh my fucking god," He grumbles into your hair, but you hear the smile in his voice. "Go to sleep. Please."
"I'm trying." You whine out, eyes slipping shut at the feeling of his hand now spreading out against your tummy, rubbing soothing circles there. "My head hurts too much."
"Did you take anything?"
"Mhm." You hum. "Nicholas gave me some Tylenol and water before he met back up with the guys."
"You drink all the water?"
You shrug. “Maybe like half?”
"Good enough for me." You feel the brush of his lips against the back of your neck and your eyes spring open, freezing in his hold. "You just need to relax. It should start kicking in soon."
You don't say anything, hyper-focused on the way his lips felt against your skin and the way you liked it too much. Even in your inebriated state you knew what that meant, and maybe you always had, but was just too scared to even think of the possibility. You and Noah were just friends... who sometimes teetered the line between friends and something else. It went unspoken for as long as you could remember, and you're not sure why you never said anything.
You don't know if it's the alcohol, or if you're finally sobering up, but your stomach turns at the thought. Why didn't you say anything? Why didn't he say anything? You feel dizzy again, and there's a voice in the back of your head trying to tell you to shut up and sleep but you've never been a good listener, even to yourself, and your lips move before you can think twice about it.
"Noah." Your voice is hushed and the feel of his fingers rubbing circles against your bare hip as your head spinning more than it probably should be right now.
"Hm?"
"You do realize friends don't do this, right?"
It takes him a moment to reply, "Do what?"
"This."
You feel more sober than you did five minutes prior. You're aware of everything - where you are, who you're with, who you're pressed against. Noah lets out a sigh and you feel him nose at your shoulder, a shiver running through your body at the feeling.
"You know we’ve never exactly been just friends."
You can't believe he had just said that as your eyes almost bulge right out of your head, and you try to turn in his arms so that you can face him.
"Noah-"
His grip only tightens on you, and you can't move, stuck where you are, and you hear him huff out a laugh before saying, "Nope. No way. We’re not having this talk right now when you’re drunk as shit, and we’re trapped in this glorified death box. Go to sleep.”
"But-"
"If you remember this in the morning, then ask me again." You feel his lips move against the back of your neck and you shiver again, squirming against him.
"I will." You finally whisper after two beats of silence, trying to settle back against his chest. "I'll ask you tomorrow."
He presses another kiss to the back of your neck and your entire body flushes, and you can hear the smile in his voice when he says, "Okay."
You both lay in silence and it's not long for sleep to find you, body finally relaxing after the long night.
You wake some hours later, groaning quietly as you lifted your head up from the pillow. You blink blearily around you before rubbing at your eyes, trying to rid them of sleep as last night’s shenanigans flooded your brain. With another groan you roll onto your back and stare up at the top of the bunk, picking a part your memories.
Going out with the guys, taking way too many shots with Folio, Nicholas having to walk you back to the bus, the Tylenol, Noah… Your mind pauses at the thought of the male, and you realize you’re in the bunk alone. You remember everything clearly, from arguing with him about how this was your bunk – it in fact very much was not – from climbing into said bunk and cuddling with him. You remember him saying that the two of you have never been just friends but refused to elaborate.
If you remember this in the morning, then ask me again.
The bus is quiet, the only sound you hear are Jolly’s snores coming from below you, and the soft sound of the bus’s engine running. You were most likely on your way to the next city. You’re sure Noah’s already up, probably in the front working away on his laptop, and you peel his blanket off your body and do your best to get down from his bunk.
You find him where you expected him, beanie on top his head and hoodie wrapped around his body, headphones on as he typed away at his laptop. You’d make a joke about him always working, but you’re only thinking of one thing right now.
You come stand in front of him and he notices you almost instantly, pushing his headphones off his head as he stares up at you.
“Morning, sleeping beauty.”
You blush, eyes dropping for a moment as your arms come to cross over your chest.
“What did you mean last night?” You blurt out.
Noah pauses but his eyes never leave you, and you watch as he slips his computer off his lap and into the seat next to him. He leans forward, elbows resting against his knees.
“Ask me again.”
“No, I’m not-“ You huff out a groan and brush your fingers through your hair, wincing a bit at the knots that caught between your hands. “I’m not playing that game, Noah. What did you mean we’ve never exactly been just friends?”
“It’s exactly what it sounds like.” He leans back against the couch now, arms crossing over his chest. “And you know I’m right.”
Your heart hammers against your chest and all you can do is nod at his words, cheeks flushing with color. He was right. You two have never been just friends, too close, too touchy to be labeled as platonic. You’d be lying if you said last night was the first time you shared a bed together. But now what? You got the answer you were looking for, but for some reason you can’t even look at Noah, but his eyes are burning into you, watching your every move.
“Okay…” You start, sucking in a breath as you finally moved your gaze back to Noah, eyes locking with his. “If we’re not just friends, then what does that make us?”
He smiles. “People who like each other more than friends but are too scared to admit it?”
Damn. He got that spot on. You blush again, trying to find the right words, but come up short. Your brain is still playing catch up, sleep still very much in your veins, and Noah notices. He leans forward again and gestures you to come closer and you do, his hands reaching out to grab your own.
“We have the next two days off. Let me take you out. Dinner or something. A movie. Whatever you want.”
“And then what?”
He shrugs. “And then we see where this goes. I’m willing to give it a try if you are.”
You can’t stop the smile that’s slipping onto your lips, your fingers curling around his as warmth spread throughout your chest.
“That sounds good to me.”

the last song | n.s.
Tumblr media
With the new album finally completed and a new song dropping in a couple of days, Noah takes his girl to the studio, hoping to show her around without the chaos of past recording days, and maybe, he can get that last song he's been dreaming of.
one shot ✨ | noah sebastian x fem.reader word count: 2.3k tags: established relationship, fluff, fluffy sexual content (it's not too explicit), reader has a slight kink for noah's silver chain (who doesn't, let's be honest), no trigger warnings, just noah being in love and being loved back.
Tumblr media
The studio is finally empty.
After weeks of relentless work and dedication, days blurring into nights, headaches, frustration, last-minute changes, and ups and downs not only in the sounddeck, but also in the mood of the whole team, the album was finally ready, and in a matter of days, new music would fill spaces beyond the studio’s confines.
Noah steps aside to let her in. She is enveloped in the grandeur of the space. Never before had she been in a recording studio, and its magnitude overwhelms her. The expanse stretches out before her, a labyrinth of hallways leading into rooms of creativity. There are framed records adorning the walls, a testament to the artistry that thrives within these walls. This feels like the type of place Noah would call home. Too bad she hasn’t fully realized yet that his home is her,no matter how many hours he’s spent away from her locked in this very right place.
While she is fascinated by the array of instruments, cables, and other things she doesn’t know the name of, it’s Noah himself who captivates her the most. His joy is palpable as he gives gently explanations about the use of each room, each instrument. His enthusiasm is infectious. He’s so eager to share his world with her.
This is one of the reasons why she’s so in love with him.
         His passion.
And she is lucky enough that he’s equally passionate about music as he is about her.
Taking her hand, he leads her from one room to another, continuing his explanations and sharing curiosities about this and that, mentioning the guys, the places where each one usually sits while they review the recordings, the Starbucks cups that pile up in the corner of a table when they’ve been locked in there for twelve hours and start to suffer the effects of not seeing the sunlight or hearing the sounds of the outside world, anecdotes that ignite her laughter, a sound that makes Noah’s heart flutter.
She asks him about the new music, she pleads to hear at least one song, a piece, ten seconds. Nearly begs him. She knows she just has to utter the word “please” and Noah will give her anything she wants. This evening, she wants to hear the melodic cascade of his voice, get lost in the way Noah turns words into dreamy melodies. It’s not enough to hear him speak; she wants to hear him weave words into a song; she wants to drown in the melodies he has put into lyrics that speak of her, of the moments when they are stripped of all mundanity, of clothes and fear, when they are alone, skin to skin, and when all that can be heard is only the rhythm of their beating hearts and the symphony of their shared passion.
He insists he can’t. He wants it to be a surprise. He has hopes that when she listens to the album, one or two songs will get her on her knees, while others will lead her to beg him to fuck her to the cadence of those.
Embedded within the lyrics of the new songs are a few confessions, but there’s a time for those to reach her ears, and it’s not tonight.
He silences his phone and sets it aside while she occupies herself by tinkering with the buttons on the soundboard. A few minutes later, Noah sneaks up behind her, enveloping her in his warm and slipping his hands beneath the fabric of her white t-shirt.
“There’s actually... one last song missing,” he murmurs against the fragrant scent of her hair.
“One last song?” She asks, her curiosity piqued. She begins to turn round, but Noah holds her in place. He rests his head on her shoulder, and with a trail of his fingers along the curve of her stomach, he elicits a subtle shiver that she tries to ignore. “I thought you said the album was complete, that you had finished...”
“Not quite yet,” he replies, planting a ghostly kiss on her earlobe.
She can sense the cool, minty breath against her neck, and it sends a shiver down her spine. He has been indulging in a mint candy, and her mind wanders to the tantalizing thought of having his mouth between her legs at this moment. The idea of that refreshing sensation sends a rush of desire coursing through her veins, and she can’t help but wonder if it would be enough to push her over the edge.
She smells of jasmine and the promise of spring. He wants to inhale her, breathe her in.
Concerned, she wriggles in his embrace until she can face him, stepping back a few paces as she speaks. She wants him to take her seriously.
“I didn’t know, Noah. I wouldn’t have asked you to bring me here if you were still in the middle of—”
With a single step, he reaches her again, his smile widening at her endearing bewilderment. He captures her lips in a kiss, stealing her breath away. The taste of the candy is still on his lips, and his fresh breath enters her mouth as their lips part.
It’s in the way their mouths fit together that she finds reassurance that they’re perfect for each other. She knows she’s found the boy of her dreams, and the mere thought of being apart from him feels unbearable. She doesn’t know how she will survive next time he goes away on tour. For now, she will live in the way his tender kisses have a way of evolving into passionate bites that ignite a delightful flutter in her stomach.
“You’re adorable,” he says over her lips.
For a moment, she feels dizzy. Then, with a determined frown, she grabs a handful of Noah’s black hoodie, attempting to appear assertive, though to Noah, she resembles nothing more than an adorable kitten.
“You told me the album was complete, that you would only bring me here once the work was done and this was empty so that you could let me explore and touch things and…”
“And record the last song,” Noah interjects calmly, looking into her eyes, smile tugging at his lips.
Her brow furrows even deeper, her head tilting slightly to the side as Noah’s gaze traces the contours of her face, his eyes filled with admiration for every freckle, that little ever so tiny scar earned in a childhood adventure, the faint blush spreading through her cheeks.
         “Noah, I don’t understand.”
         “Let me show you…”
With her skin already responding to the anticipation, Noah’s hands find their way under her t-shirt, caressing the skin of her sides. It’s always just one touch and she’s already putty in his hands. She can’t help it; the man has that effect on her, that power over her. She would give him the world if she could because no one ever makes her feel as cherished as he does.
So, when he gently lifts her t-shirt, after worshipping her with light, seductive kisses along her neck and jawline, she allows him to undress her. His lips touch her shoulder, his tongue tracing a slow path until it finds the pulsing vein of her neck. A sharp intake of breath escapes her lips as he tenderly sucks at her skin, his fingers expertly finding their way beneath her skirt and underwear, eliciting a low, sweet moan from deep within her.
It’s the first of many moans to come.
Noah smiles against her flushed skin. His cock twitches. His heartbeat races.
         The music is playing now.
He showers her with kisses, his hand cradling the side of her face as he traces a line with his finger from between her legs, through the valley of her breasts, up to her clavicle.
Growing impatient, she tugs at his hoodie, and sensing her urgency, he assists her in removing it. Underneath, Noah wears a black tank top, and her eyes immediately gravitate to the silver chain adorning his neck, previously hidden by the hoodie. With a heated spark in her eyes, she hesitates for a moment before seizing the chain and pulling Noah down to her awaiting mouth.
With one hand clutching his chain and the other sliding to the back of his head, she revels in the sensation of his soft hair sliding between her fingers. He emanates the intoxicating scent of masculine perfume and tastes like pure adrenaline—a potent combination that renders him utterly irresistible. He’s as addictive as a man can get. He’s tall, muscular, handsome, and fucking sweet.
And best of all, he is hers.
Noah scoops her up, intending to place her atop the sound deck. It would be a great place to fuck her on, but he quickly realizes it wouldn’t be comfortable at all, and he doesn’t want her to get hurt.
He pivots towards the couch—a place where he had envisioned her countless times before… Sitting there with pen and paper, crafting songs about her, he had often pictured her naked form, her eyes shimmering with anticipation, beckoning him to find his place between her legs, to envelop her with his body, to fill her up with every inch of him.
With care, he lays her down on the couch, positioning one knee on the cushions to remain close to her, determined to prolong their kiss for as long as possible. He doesn’t think he can breathe without her nearby.
She is never shy when it comes to showing how much she wants him, how much she needs him. She’s unapologetically about her desperate desire, and that’s something that drives him to the brink of madness. Her eagerness only serves to make her so fucking attractive that he thinks he could eat her up. He’s consumed by that need, to bite and taste her in a surge of primal instinct, yet he manages to maintain a sweet and seductive demeanor. She brings out both the beast and the tender lover in him, and somehow, it’s a harmonious blend that feels inexplicably beautiful.
With each touch, nibble, and kiss, her passionate responses start escaping from her lips, wet with lust for him. Their clothes disappear in a matter of minutes, and as Noah finds himself —and his skilled tongue— nestled between her legs, savoring her essence, and impregnating her with his fresh minty breath, the symphony of his name being carried through long feminine moans fill the studio walls in ways he could never have imagined.
But it’s when he’s buried deep inside her that the music truly comes alive.
Together, they create a melody of ecstasy, Noah playing her body like a virtuoso, eliciting the perfect notes and sounds with each touch, kiss, thrust. She’s a tangled delicious mess beneath him, but every whimper and sigh and plea for more is a testament to her trust and love for him, a hymn sung in the throes of passion.
Occasionally, a primal growl escapes him, the beast within yearning to be unleashed, but she, the angel, the muse, keeps him grounded, wrapped in her wings, guiding him along the lines of their shared musical score.
As their bodies glisten with sweat, the tempo of their lovemaking begins to slow, descending from its crescendo, their ragged breaths filling the remaining spaces of their song. She smiles against his cheek, nuzzling her nose against his skin. She holds him close, unwilling to let go just yet. Unwilling to ever let go.
“So?” She murmurs, teasingly playing with her teeth on Noah’s earlobe.
He squirms in an attempt to escape her, but her teeth follow him, leaving him with no choice but to retaliate by biting her shoulder and descending to capture on of her nipples in his mouth, coaxing one new sound from her lips.
“So?” he repeats, mumbling between clenched teeth, his tongue teasing her hardened nipple.
“Did you record the song?” she asks playfully, gesturing with her eyes towards the sound deck.
“No. No, I didn’t,” he admits with a laugh, feeling himself softening inside of her.
“Oh, well…” she licks her lips, pretending to think of what to do now. The weight of Noah feels so nice on top of her that it would be enough to just keep on holding him. “What are we going to do about it?” she continues. “Any idea?”
         She does have an idea.
Her cheeky tone catches him off guard, and this time, it’s him who frowns as he gazes up at her. His chest and stomach press against hers, and with each laborious breath she takes, he feels the rhythmic rise and fall of her body beneath him. He considers moving, but before he can act, she wraps her leg around his, anchoring him in place.
She bites her lip, tempting him to do the same; to lower his head and kiss her and bite her and leave her breathless.
A second later, she reaches down towards her bag on the carpeted floor beside the couch and retrieves her phone, unlocks it, and opens the voice recording app.
“Maybe we should try again, don’t you think? And perhaps we should try to be… a bit louder?”
         His eyes darken.
“Think you can do that?” she asks him, a devilish smile painted on her face.
“I can definitely make you sing louder,” he growls, feeling himself hardening once more while still inside of her. His home.
She has a way of provoking him that never fails to get him hard anywhere, anytime, in no time.
“Do I… press play now?” Her fingertip hovers over the screen.
Noah responds by pulling a few inches out and thrusting hard into her, their bodies moving in perfect synchronization against the worn fabric of the sofa they are laid on. She lets out a scream as her fingertip presses the play button. The phone falls with a thud on the floor.
And with that, they’re making music once again.
         One last song.
         One more time.
         Louder.

noah is into a nice messy making out sesh. i’m talking he clashes his teeth into yours but doesn’t care one bit. spit down your chin and up your nose. tryna suck your tongue out your mouth. tongue fucking you. biting a wee bit too hard on your lips that it leads to bleeding but he licks that up no bother. all whilst moaning unnecessarily loud, running his hands all over your body, groping around and digging his nails into your skin. he’ll also pull on your hair to guide you in the direction he wants you before he tugs your head back to go to town on your neck :)

OKAY YEAH???? WAHT PROMPTED THIS ANON???
Okay yeah so. Holy shit where do I begin. So:
• Noah
Yup!
Okay seriously like he’s sooooooo fucking demanding I swear if he wasn’t 7ft tall we would all just call it like it is and say he’s a brat, anyways- so demanding. Doesn’t bother asking for what he wants, just takes it. Very into the animalistic desire you two have for each other. Especially in the first few months of your relationship, whatever that relationship may be. Like when he’s horny he’s on a one track mind of fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck so there’s no such thing as a cute smooch here and there, he’s grabbing you by your hair in the middle of movie night and dragging you into his lap to suck your face off. Would grip your waist hard enough to leave bruises, presses his fingers into said bruises for weeks. It takes .02 seconds for him to stiffen up with you in his lap, and then he’s grinding into you so aggressively that he almost bucks you off his lap completely. What the fuck. I’m never going to be okay again.

“I feel like three years of my life has been wasted. What if I never find the one, Noah?” You pouted, sitting in the edge of the plush hotel room bed.
Noah sat beside you, pulling you close to him and tucking you under his arm. He pressed a quick kiss to the side of your head. It hurt him to see you so heartbroken and not yourself.
The breakup blindsided you both. Your—now ex— partner abruptly ended things a week before your four year anniversary. They offered no explanation and then just disappeared off the face of the earth.
“You haven’t wasted anything, (Y/N).” He hooked his thumb under your chin and turned your head so you were looking at him. “It’s their loss, not yours.”
Water welled in your eyes. Noah frowned. Gently, he cupped your face and wiped your tears with his thumbs.
“Hey, no crying. You’re too pretty to be crying over some loser.”
The sound of your small chuckle made his heart flutter. He smiled softly. You offered a weak smile of your own. How your ex so easily bared to drop you baffled him. Clouds surrounded you, but to Noah, you were still the living embodiment of warm sunshine.
“Thank you, boba.”
Noah scrunched his face, making you laugh louder. He always acted like he hated the nickname, but you knew he adored it, simply because it came from you.
He kissed your forehead then stood, holding his hand out for you.
“C’mon. Vegas awaits. We’re gonna make you forget all about the last three years.”
Tumblr media
Come 2:00 AM, you and Noah were lost to the chaos of Las Vegas. At this point, you were sure your blood was mostly alcohol. You won big at a few casinos, but ultimately ended your night breaking even. The world spun more than you remembered. Standing up right was hard and walking wasn’t much easier.
Noah stumbled along close behind you, his hand safely on your lower back. You spotted a bench and your feet started screaming at you. You made a beeline for it, leaving Noah behind and to chase after you.
A heavy groan loud enough to wake the dead left your body as you collapsed onto the bench. Sharp stinging pain shot through your feet. Your hotel wasn’t far, but if you walked one more second, you would crumble.
“Oh my god,” you said out of breath. “You may have to carry me back to the hotel, Noah. I can’t walk any further.”
He scoffed and joined you. “If I wasn’t so fucked up, I would. I’d absolutely drop you the second I tried.”
You giggled. “I guess we’re just stuck here then.”
Noah hummed in response. He draped an arm across the back of the bench. You leaned into his side and closed your eyes. The harsh brightness and flashing of signs started to hurt your head. Noah dropped his arm and softly ran his fingers over the white fabric of your suit jacket. His cologne swirled around in your nose.
Briefly, you dozed off in the warming comfort of Noah’s embrace. For as long as you’ve known him, Noah provided a safety you never experienced. He always went out of his way to make you feel cared for and loved. Every special occasion or hard time, he was there. The world truly blessed you with the greatest and best friend anyone could ever ask for.
You opened your eyes, squinting and blinking to readjust to the Vegas cityscape. The hustle and bustle of the night invaded your fuzzy thoughts. A plethora of signs littered the space above sidewalks and building walls. Clubs, bars, sex shops, restaurants, and so much more.
Out of the corner of your eye, a bright pink heart neon sign caught your attention. You squinted at it. Not far from it was a small structure that poorly resembled a chapel. A sinking filling filled your chest. Three years of memories rushed back to the forefront of your brain. Thoughts of what could have been consumed you.
“You okay?” Noah’s gentle voice cut through the heartbreak in your head.
You looked up at him. His brows were furrowed. The obnoxious heart shaped sign reflected in his eyes back at you.
“Can you promise me something?”
“Of course, anything.”
You tore your gaze away, suddenly finding yourself unable to look at him. Your eyes wandered back to the chapel.
“If neither of us are married or in a committed relationship by the time we’re like forty, can we just marry each other?”
Noah shifted and drew your attention. He blinked at you, clear confusion on his face.
“I don’t wanna end up alone, Noah.” Your voice cracked.
“(Y/N)…” Noah cupped your face. “You won’t be alone. You’ve got me. Always.”
You smiled half heartedly. “I appreciate that, but I’m serious.” You placed your hands over his. “Promise me.”
Noah studied you. His hesitation scared you. It was a big request and one you probably should not have made while severely intoxicated, but you definitely wouldn’t have the courage to ask him sober.
“You’re seriously asking me to marry you?” Noah spoke, his tone sounding incredulous.
You nodded.
He mimicked a fish out of water, mouth opening and closing repeatedly.
Nausea bubbled in your gut, either from alcohol or anxiety as you waited for an answer.
A few more seconds of awkward silence passed before Noah’s lips curved into a tiny smirk. He chuckled lightly and extended a pinky finger. You hooked yours around his.
“I hope for your sake you’re happily with someone by then. I’d make a terrible husband.”
You playfully shoved his shoulder. “Are you kidding me?! You came with me on an anniversary celebration because my ex dumped me last minute and it was too late to refund. You are absolutely husband material.”
Maybe it was all the colorful lights, but you swore you saw Noah blush. With a nervous cough, he stood up. His eyes really were perfect little boba in the night light.
“We should probably head back to our hotel.” He held out his hand. “It’s so late and I’m exhausted.”
You grabbed his hand and hoisted yourself up. The sudden shift made your head spin. A wave of intense dizziness washed over and you nearly knocked Noah down. He was quick to catch you.
“Can we go to one more place first?”
“(Y/N)…”
“Please, boba?”
With a defeated sigh, Noah interlocked your fingers.
“Fine. But you're paying for the ride back.”
Dragging a reluctant Noah behind you, you start towards the chapel. Curiosity was killing you. You wanted to see what it looked like inside and desperately wanted a picture of the neon sign.
Tumblr media
Sun beamed through the floor to ceiling window. It was millions of miles away, but it settled right over your eyes. You grumbled, feeling the throb of a hangover poke at your brain. You reached up to shield your eyes from the sun’s dreaded light, but your hand smacked something warm and soft. It made a displeased noise, then you felt your body being pulled closer.
You realized you were caught in someone’s embrace. Panic prompted your eyes to fly open. Noah’s sleeping face greeted you and you relaxed. It wasn’t entirely unusual to be cuddled together, but you were pressed flush against his bare chest, not an inch of space between your bodies. You could feel the steady, strong rhythm of his heart.
“It’s not polite to stare, (Y/N),” Noah rasped, voice heavy and thick with sleep.
He opened one of his eyes and peeked at you, a lazy smile on his face.
“Did I wake you up?”
“You kind of smack me in the face.” Noah chuckled, pulling you even closer in his embrace.
His chin rested on top of your head. He drew gentle circles on your bare back, the tender caress softly tugging at the lingering sleepiness. You threw one of your legs over his and nuzzled into his chest, sighing contently and enjoying the warmth of his soft skin. The realization you were both naked dawned on you suddenly.
“Noah?”
“Hm?”
“What did we do last night?” You asked.
You pulled away enough to look at him, noticing a small, barely visible mark on his jaw. Noah met your stare. His eyes then went to your neck and chest.
“Well,” he spoke, bringing his left hand to your neck and trailing a finger down to your chest, “judging by the marks and the lack of clothing, I’d say we fucked.”
A blush spread over your face at the bluntness of his words. He hooked his index finger under your chin. Dark, mischievous eyes stared back at you.
Noah ran his thumbs over your bottom lip. “Would you like a refresher?”
Embarrassed and flustered, you tried to wriggle from him. He laughed lightly but didn’t let you stray too far. You furrowed your brows, trying to display fake annoyance. Your expression softened as he intertwined your fingers. Noah gazed lovingly at you. Warmth filled your heart and spread through you. You smiled softly at him. He mirrored the gesture.
Your eyes fell to your hands. There were rings on your fingers that weren’t there last night— Noah’s a simple black band and yours a simple silver band that had started to turn your finger green. You racked your brain trying to remember where you could have possibly gotten jewelry, but drew a blank. Noah followed your gaze, equally perplexed.
Details of the night were hazy and far away. There was lots of drinking, that much you knew. The pounding in your head reminds you of that. You remembered your luck running fry at tables and slot machines. After that, the picture in your head was scrambled and jumbled. Some pieces had pink in them, another had a paper with yours and Noah’s signatures—but your name looked different. Your last name wasn’t there. It was—
“OH MY GOD!”
You sat up and put significant distance between you and Noah, startling him with the sudden shift and volume of your shout. You glanced back at Noah, sheer panic on your face and concerned confusion on his.
“WE GOT FUCKING MARRIED.”
The picture finally came together in your head. The pink of the neon sign, the marriage certificate, Noah convincing you to get cheap rings as “place holders” until he could ”give you a proper ring”, pouncing on each other the moment the hotel room door closed.
Your head spun from the memories.
“Forty came quicker than I expected.” Noah joked.
You gave him an exasperated sigh and cradled your head in your hands. Sheets ruffled behind you and the spot beside you dipped. Noah wrapped an arm around you and nestled you into his side.
“Okay, not the time for jokes. Sorry.” He pecked the top of your head. “If you want, we can look into getting an annulment.”
“If I want?” You looked at Noah. “What about you?”
He shrugged. “I don’t hate the idea of being your husband.”
His statement rendered you speechless. You looked at the ring on your finger. Honestly, there was no reason you could think of that against being married to him. Every future you ever envisioned always featured Noah in some way, either by your side at the altar or across from you.
You looked back at the soft boba eyes watching you. You cupped Noah’s jaw and pulled him into a tender kiss, not caring an ounce about his or your morning breath. Butterflies took flight in your stomach and made a home in your heart. You smiled into the kiss, and so did Noah, followed by sets of giddy giggles.
“I don’t know about you, tea, but I’m starving. How ‘bout some food?”
Noah gazed at you. You looked at him confused.
“‘Tea’?”
“Yeah,” he said matter of factly, like the randomness of the word was obvious. “What’s boba without its tea?”
You outwardly cringed. “You are not calling me ‘tea’.”
“Puddin’?”
“Better.”
“Spouse?
“Perfect.”

A pair of long arms twist around your waist and pull you close. The warmth of his body radiates through yours and you sigh contentedly. This had become a semi-weekly occurrence. Over the last month or so, Noah had started sneaking in your bed — slipping under the covers and drawing your body to his. He’d bury his face into your hair or neck, whispering sweet nothings into your ear.
Occasionally it would turn into sleepy sex, his slow, deep thrusts into you from behind taking you apart piece by piece. Most of the time he was just there to be next to you. He told you that going to sleep and waking up (again) next to you set him on a good course for the day. The two of you hadn’t been together long, but he wasn’t afraid to admit that to you. You loved how vulnerable he was.
As you lie in his arms, you notice you don’t feel as rested as you normally do. You pry one eye open and it’s significantly darker in the room than it usually is for his visits. You glance at the clock and see the time — 11:58 pm.
As you turn your head to nuzzle into him, he places a chaste kiss on your cheek. “Mmm, a midnight visit. What’s the occasion?” He plants another kiss, then another. You feel him smiling against your skin.
“You don’t remember, bug?”
You rack your brain but you’re so sleepy nothing is coming to mind. Noah is apparently impatient as he squeezes you.
“C’mon baby..” he whines.
“I’m sorry, Noah. I’m so tired I can’t even think.. please tell me.”
Noah chuckles softly and nudges your cheek with his nose so you’ll look forward. You notice now that the clock says 11:59 pm.
“Let’s wait until midnight and see what happens.” He whispers.
The room falls silent — the only sounds are your breathing and the traffic outside. Noah traces light patterns against your tummy and you sink further into his chest reveling in the feeling. His face is half buried in your neck, his eyes peeking out to keep an eye out on the time with you. You look at him through the corner of your eyes and wonder how you got so lucky. There’s this beautiful boy in your bed, in your life. What he saw in you was a complete mystery but you prayed to whatever higher power would listen that you could keep him.
“Bug, you’re not watching.” He says with a soft smile. Your eyes shoot over to the clock just in time for it to flip over to 12:00am.
Noah squeezes you tight and whispers into your ear, “Happy three months, baby.”
The realization that he wanted to be here with you the second your anniversary settles in and you’re quickly overcome with emotions. Your eyes well up with tears as he peppers your face with kisses. Suddenly, you feel terrible because it didn’t occur to you that was what he was here for. You were afraid he thought you had forgotten. The tears start falling much faster and Noah is quick to notice.
“Y/n? Bug, what’s wrong?” He asks, pushing your hair out of your face.
You shake your head and bury your face into the pillow. The muffled sobs coming from you make Noah worry even more. He pushes up on his elbows and kisses your shoulder.
“Please tell me. Did I do something wrong?”
Your laughter confuses Noah, but it’s the most ridiculous question he could have asked.
You turn your head slightly to look at him. His hair falls in his eyes, soft and full of concern, as he gazes down upon you. Noah kisses your palm when you bring it to cup his face as his thumb brushes away your tears. He shifts down to you where his face is hovering over yours. No words are said, however his face silently pleads with you to tell him what is going on.
“You haven’t done a thing, baby. You’re perfect.” You sniffle. “I’m just upset because I don’t want you to think I forgot about our anniversary. I’m just tired. I wasn’t thinking and I…I’m sorry.” You cover your face with your hands, crying quietly. There’s no initial response from Noah and you’re sure you’ve screwed everything up.
“Baby..” He says through quiet laughter. He pulls at your hands so he can see your face but they won’t budge as you’re slightly embarrassed now. He huffs and you move one finger slightly, peeking out at him. He spots you immediately and grins. You quickly move your finger back to its original position.
“If you’re not going to let me see that beautiful face of yours then I’m going to have to take matters into my own hands.”
You feel the bed shift as he swings his leg over your body, he pushes you flat on your back and cages in your hips with his legs. He attempts one more time to pry your hands off your face to no avail.
Noah chuckles. “Have it your way, then.”
His fingers sneak under your shirt and wiggle against the skin of your ribcage, causing your stomach to contract. You giggle and squirm underneath him but hold your hands tight to your face. He continues around to your back and down your sides trying his best to get you to move your hands but is unsuccessful.
You feel a presence close to your face but don’t dare to look. “Guess I'm going to have to take it up a notch.” He whispers in your ear, and kisses the lobe. You giggle, knowing what his plan was and that you were going to fail miserably. It didn’t matter. He wasn’t going to let up until everything was fixed.
Noah focuses his hands on your stomach, tickling and your hands instantly fly to his to push them away. Your laughter and his fills the room. He grabs your hands and gently places them above your head. He kisses your forehead, then your nose, and finally your lips.
“I know you didn’t forget, bug. We just talked about it not long ago, remember?”
The memory of your conversation from the day before resurfaces in your mind. Originally he wasn’t sure if he’d be able to spend time with you on your actual anniversary due to band obligations but he surprised you and told you that he had rearranged some things to make it work. You were overjoyed and couldn’t wait to spend the day with him.
You wiggle your arms and Noah lets go of them. As you wrap them around him, you let out a breath.
“You’re right, thank you. I’m so glad you’re here.”
Noah’s eyes crinkle when he smiles at you. The moonlight shining through the window casts against his face. No one has ever looked at you the way Noah has. He gazes at you as if you hung the moon. It’s almost like he is trying to memorize your face. It’s a look of devotion and admiration, and it gives you butterflies.
“I have the whole day off and it’s our anniversary.” He leans down and kisses your lips softly, his next words ghost against them in a whisper. “I want to make sure I spend every second with my best girl.”
Tumblr media
Noah spent the rest of the night making love to you. He took his time, pulling climax after climax from you. He spoke soft praises in your ear about how good you were for him, how amazing you felt, and how you were made just for him. He finally let you fall asleep around sunrise, your head against his chest, both arms wrapped tightly around you.
Tumblr media
Dishes clanking in the kitchen wake you from a deep sleep. You roll over to see the time: 10:00am. The joints in your legs and arms crack as you stretch and yawn. You put on a hoodie and a pair of shorts and walk towards the kitchen.
Noah hears your footsteps on the tile and whips around. He grins and opens his arms wide.
“There’s my sleepyhead!”
As grumpy as you are in the mornings, his smile is contagious. You all but run into his arms and he hugs you tightly. He nuzzles his head into your hair, breathing in the scent of your shampoo.
“I was about to come in there and wake you up.”
You laugh and look up at him, resting your chin on his chest. “I’m so sorry but someone kind of wore me out last night.”
Noah cocks an eyebrow and smirks. He leans down and places his lips close to yours but doesn’t let them touch.
“I didn’t hear you complaining last night.” He breathes.
You nearly shiver at his words but manage to keep your composure.
“Who says I’m complaining now?”
He chuckles and slides along the counter, revealing a tray of food that was behind him. On the tray there was a plate of pancakes, a smaller plate with eggs and bacon, a small bowl of fruit, and a glass of orange juice. You stare at him in awe but notice his face drops a little as he looks at the tray.
“I actually wanted to wake you up so I could bring you breakfast in bed… but I guess I was too loud, huh?” Noah says, rubbing the back of his neck.
He looks so nervous like he has messed everything up. You silently curse yourself for not staying in bed longer and ruining his plans. You stand on your tiptoes and place a kiss on his cheek.
“This is perfect, baby. Thank you so much.”
Noah’s eyes light up.
“You know, I can still bring it to you in bed. It won't be a surprise anymore but I’d still like to.”
You nod your head and giggle. Noah smacks your butt playfully as you turn around and head back towards your room.
A few moments later, Noah enters the room with the breakfast tray. He walks slowly towards your bed, careful not to spill anything. He sits the tray across your legs and climbs in next to you. You look down and notice something was different. A small vase with daisies had been placed in the corner. Your heart explodes in your chest. Could this man be any cuter?
You take Noah’s face in your hands and kiss him. “Thank you, Noah. This is so sweet.”
He rubs your bottom lip with his thumb and kisses you again. “Happy Anniversary, Y/N.”
Tumblr media
To your pleasant surprise, Noah had much more than breakfast planned for your day. He took you to get your nails done, then to lunch at your favorite restaurant. Afterwards, you went to Pacific Park to ride the ferris wheel and walk on the beach. He even took you to buy a new dress and shoes for dinner, despite your protests.
As you walk to your front door he stops you and places a blindfold over your eyes. He leads you to your room and has you sit on the edge of your bed. He leaves the room for a moment, then reenters. You hear shuffling and something lands on the bed next to you. He removes your blindfold and you look around the room, noticing nothing different.
“Get dressed. I’ll be back in a few minutes.”
He leaves again before you can say a word. You slip into the red dress he bought you that cost more than you would ever pay, but as soon as he saw you in it he insisted on buying it for you. Or rather, as soon as he saw you in it he pushed you back into the dressing room and fucked you in front of the mirror so you could see how beautiful it looked on you.
After that he said you couldn’t return it to the rack, so he had to buy it for you.
The black strappy heels you put on were also Noah’s pick. You had to hand it to him. The man knew how to dress even when it came to dressing other people.. or maybe he just knew what he wanted to see his girl in.
You sit at your vanity and touch up your hair and makeup. The door opens and when Noah walks in you nearly drop your mascara. He’s in a black long sleeve dress shirt with the top two buttons undone, black trousers, and black leather chelsea boots. A gold watch on his wrist accentuates the black outfit perfectly.
“Ready, bug?”
You swing your legs delicately over the vanity bench and stand up. Noah’s breath hitches when he sees you. The dress looks even better on you now than it did at the store. Every curve and slope of your body is accentuated by the silky fabric. Your hair falls in soft curls over your shoulders and he notices you put his favorite shade of lipstick on. His heart aches because you’re the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen, and he knows you have no idea.
Noah holds his hand out for you and smiles softly. Graciously, you take it and he places gentle kisses on your knuckles. “You look so beautiful, baby.”
Blood rushes to your cheeks as you beam at him. “You don’t look half bad yourself, Davis.”
Noah laughs and holds out his arms, giving you a twirl to show off his outfit. “I do clean up pretty well, huh?”
“I better make sure we don’t go out in public with you looking that good. Someone might steal you from me.” You tease him.
Noah pulls you in an embrace, enveloping you in a deep kiss. It leaves you breathless, wishing it would never end, but it does. He separates from you, his dark brown eyes staring into yours.
“That’s never going to happen, baby.”
Tumblr media
Noah insists on covering your eyes as he opens your bedroom door and leads you out to the hallway. He decided to forego the blindfold this time so it didn’t ruin your makeup. After some playful arguing, a lot of giggling from the both of you, and you nearly falling, he manages to position you right where he wanted you.
“Okay… you can open your eyes.”
Shades of red and white cover the floor, the petals scattered there form a trail that leads to the living room. Flameless candles light the dark hallway. Behind the floral aroma a delicious scent fills your nostrils and you hear movement in the kitchen. Is someone cooking?
Your eyes light up at the sight before you as you clasp your hands together in front of your face. As you turn to look at Noah, you realize he’s already watching you with wonder.
“Baby, it’s beautiful.” you say, softly. “You didn’t have to do all of this for me.”
He chuckles and places a hand on the back of your head kissing your temple. “We’re not done yet, baby. You haven’t even made it down the hallway.” He points at the small table next to the living room door and you see a heart shaped balloon, a card, and a small black box. You reach the table and open the card.
A polaroid of the two of you on your first date falls out. You pick it up and admire it. He had taken you to a movie and then to the swan pedal boats at Echo Park. He snapped a picture of you two, the LED lights on the boat illuminating your smiling faces. On the bottom, Noah wrote:
Day 1: Our First Date. The beginning of us.
You grab the black box and open it to see a small gold bracelet inside. Dangling from the chain you see a tiny swan. You run your thumb over the grooves in the metal where its wings are, eyes brimming with tears.
“Here, let me.” Noah says, delicately placing the bracelet around your wrist. He presses a kiss to the inside of your wrist and laces his fingers with yours. “C’mon, baby.”
He escorts you into the next room. If you thought he went all out for the hallway, you were unprepared for the living room. More flower petals lie on the floor and on the couch. The house was dark, the only light was what little daylight could peek through the shades and more flameless candles that Noah had placed everywhere.
A gigantic red heart balloon arch was placed above the couch. You laugh internally imagining Noah trying to get that thing inside your house. Suddenly, it hits you. When did he have time to put it in your house? More movement in the kitchen reminds you of your mystery chef. Sweet Noah. He has a plan for everything.
There’s another single heart shaped balloon, white this time, attached to the coffee table with a card and a smaller black box. Careful not to disturb the rose petals, you sit on the edge of the couch. The card holds another polaroid of you and Noah after one of his concerts. You’re hanging off of him as he kisses your cheek.
Day 32: My biggest fan.
The box held a single charm. A small gold concert ticket Noah had customized with “Bad Omens”. He attaches the charm to your bracelet and you lean into him. You play with the charms as he rubs your back. “Everything ok, bug?” He whispers.
You look up at him and nod, smiling. You choose not to say anything, knowing if you did you’d start crying. Noah stands up. “Let’s keep going. We’re almost to the best part.”
The next table had the same set up. The photo was a blurry one you had taken after a night out. You were both in bed and Noah had red lipstick, the very same you were wearing this evening, all over his face from where you had been kissing him. You were still kissing him in the photo. He wraps his arms around your waist from behind you and rests his chin on your shoulder, humming.
He was remembering the night just as you were. You had stumbled into the house drunk, unable to keep your hands off of each other. The lipstick you were wearing made it onto many other parts of his body that evening and he insisted on taking photos of it all. You made him promise to keep the more risqué ones locked away, but it seems he chose the most appropriate one for this evening.
Day 72: My wild girl…and why red is my new favorite color.
Your cheeks heat at his note. Noah growls in your ear teasingly and kisses behind your ear. He prompts you to open the box, so you do. A red lips charm lies inside causing you to burst out in laughter. Noah laughs as well and attaches it to your wrist along with the other two. He pats you on the butt and guides you into the dining room.
Fairy lights were strung from the ceiling. A white tablecloth and dark red table runner had been placed on the table. A large vase of flowers, a mixture of roses and daisies, sits in the middle. The table was set beautifully; plates and utensils all in their places. A bottle of wine was placed next to a bowl of strawberries. He really didn’t leave out a thing.
Noah pulls your chair out and helps you in. He slides into the chair opposite you and gives you a big smile you can’t help but mirror. As soon as you place your napkin in your lap, someone busts through the door from the kitchen. You’re shocked to see Nicholas, also dressed up, with two plates of food. He practically floats over to you and places your plate down first, then Noah’s.
“Nicky..” You speak as you gently grab his arm, pulling him down to you. “How much did Noah pay you to do all of this?”
“Not a dime, darling. I did this out of the kindness of my heart.” He says, flashing you a sweet smile.
You raise your eyebrows in disbelief, but he just winks at you. “You’re important to Noah, so you’re important to me. It’s my pleasure.” He kisses your cheek and you thank him.
“You’re welcome. However, Noah, next time you want a huge balloon arrangement snuck into her house, you’re on your own. That thing was a bitch to get in the door.” Nicholas calls out as he walks back to the kitchen.
“Nick, you know you’ll do it again in a heartbeat if I ask.” Noah yells.
“I don’t know shit!” Nicholas’ muffled yell from behind the door makes you snicker.
Tumblr media
Conversation and laughter make dinner and dessert pass by quickly. After he passes out dessert and cleans up the kitchen, you catch Nicholas attempting to slip out quietly. He gives a little wave and you smile and wave back, a silent thank you.
Noah checks his watch and quickly stands up. “We have to hurry or we’ll miss it!” he exclaims, excitedly. He brings you out to your back patio. There are no fancy decorations. Just a polaroid camera, a black sharpie, and a familiar small black box.
The sun is setting now. The sunlight shines through the clouds, and the sky turns beautiful shades of pink and purple. Noah sighs in relief.
“We didn’t miss it.”
The realization that Noah was so worried about missing the sunset with you is painfully sweet. You watch him as he grabs the camera and stuffs the sharpie in his pocket. He turns you both around so your backs are against the setting sun, and he drapes his arm around your shoulder. You wrap around his torso and he rests his head on yours, snapping the photo.
The polaroid shoots out of the camera and he shakes it. Once the photo appears you look at it at the same time. The golden light shines through and around the two of you. Almost as if the two of you were glowing.
“I think this is our best one yet.” You say.
Noah agrees and hands you the black box. The final charm. This one was kept in a satin bag inside the box so you were extra careful with it. You place it delicately in your hand. The heart shaped charm was made of red murano glass. You gaze at the charm in awe of its beauty. It was perfect, just like all of the others.
Noah stares at you, at the sunlight shining on your face. He had spent years chasing the feeling he has in this very moment with you. All of the pain and heartbreak he had caused and experienced meant nothing anymore.
You were right in front of him and everything he ever wanted.
He had spent so much time agonizing over this night. Was it too soon? Should he wait? Would you feel the same way? He wanted everything to be perfect for you. You were perfect.
Noah sits the photo down. He takes your face in his hands and kisses you passionately. You taste like wine and honey from dessert and he licks further into your mouth yearning for more.
When he pulls away he places his forehead against yours. His hands never leave your face, his thumbs running along the apples of your cheeks. You stare up at him through your lashes, watching as his mouth opens and closes again.
“I love you so much, y/n.”
Your stomach turns a million flips at once. The pounding of your heart makes you dizzy. Tears well up in your eyes and you smile so hard your cheeks hurt instantly. He makes a surprised noise as you roughly attach your lips to his.
Noah takes your response as a positive one, assuming you wouldn’t kiss him if you don’t feel the same way. However, his anxiety is getting the better of him and he can’t wait any longer. He gently separates the two of you, the noise you make is so pitiful he regrets it immediately, but he has to know.
When he looks at you, he is unprepared for the pout you give him. It was so cute he couldn’t help but laugh. You stomp your foot but you’re also laughing.
“Why did you stop kissing me?” You question, still pouting.
“I’m sorry, baby, but…I need to hear you say it. I have to know you feel the same way.”
It dawns on you that in your excitement you had failed to respond to him. You wrap your arms around his neck.
“Baby, of course I feel the same way. I’ve actually wanted to say it for a couple of weeks now but was afraid it was too soon. I’m so glad you said it, though. All of this you’ve done for me today… This has been the best day ever. No one has ever loved me or taken care of me the way you have. I love you more than anything, Noah Davis.”
Noah grins and lifts you off the ground, twirling you around. He smothers your face, neck, and shoulders with kisses. When you thought he was done, he started again.
“Baby, are you ever going to stop?” You say through a fit of giggles.
“Nope, never.” He says, his voice muffled by your neck.
You whine and he groans playfully.
“Fine, but you have to say it again.”
You sigh, pretending like it was so taxing and kiss his nose. He smirks at you, waiting.
“I love you, Noah.”
Noah gives you a satisfied smile and pulls the sharpie out of his pocket. He uncaps it and picks up the polaroid. He taps the marker on his chin for a moment in contemplation and then begins to write.
Day 90: Our anniversary. Sunset.
The day you said you love me.

Sweep Me Off My Feet
Noah Sebastian x Reader
A/N: this was an anon request - I hope I did you proud! “Reader and him are bffs and she gets really depressed staying alone during the shutdown, so Noah picks her up and she ends up living with him during it all. So everyone else in the band quickly realizes that they are more than besties, just in the way they act with each other.”
Tumblr media
42 days into this ‘lockdown’, you think. 42 days since it was all over the news, ‘stay in your house, don’t leave unless it's for a medical reason. Blah blah blah’. The panic has started to subside, people are somewhat used to the idea now, despite how upsidedown the world is seeming. The days were just so long, and the nights seemed to drag on forever. There wasn’t really an end in sight, just more and more delays of the inevitable. “Lockdown extended another week…month… the rest of our lives”.
There was only one thing helping you get through this, and that was Noah. He would be the one who always answered the phone, answered the messages, sent you hilarious videos or photos of himself. It was this connection that was what was stopping you from going insane.
Your house was otherwise empty. You lived on your own, along with your dying house plants. A blanket of darkness was getting ever so comfortable to live in, and it was becoming dangerous. You would go days without showering, the house was a mess, and the food you were eating could barely even be called edible.
It was 4pm, and you still hadn’t left the couch. Staring mind-numbingly at the TV as a show that auto-played in front of you. It was like your brain was paralyzing you, stopping from being alive. Instead, just existing; taking up space.
The only light in the room came from the TV as figures from an unknown show ran about their lives. The curtains were shut and all the doors and windows closed. A sudden brrrrrrrr from your phone drew you out of the shroud you were in, the phone screen lighting up with a new message.
Noah: Have you drank any water today?
You scoff. Was this man stalking you?
You reply: since when are you tracking my vitals?
You stand, bones creaking and cracking as you finally show some sign of life, and then saunter over to the kitchen. A cup that looks relatively clean sits by the sink, so you fill it up with water and drink it as quickly as you can.
Your phone lights up again.
Noah: You just drank some, didn’t you?
Your response? Nothing. He knows he’s right. You won’t even need to say anything.
Noah: knew it.
You: shut up.
You look down at your phone, and then around at the house. It was embarrassing. The smell was suddenly becoming apparent, and it was a concoction of body sweat, dampness and something else that might have been the dead plant.
You sigh. Knowing this wasn’t any way to live. Leaving the TV playing, you walk upstairs and to the bathroom, twisting the handles in the shower so the water comes pouring down. The steam begins to hollow out and you strip from your clothes, tossing them to the side. The waterfall feels clean, it envelopes you and you close your eyes in bliss. Why has this been so hard to do? The scent of your shampoo brings a slight smile to your face when you wash your hair, and it may just be because you were proud of yourself just for doing that. As you rinse your hair, there was a noise from outside the bathroom. A bang. Then a crash. Then a… clink?
Your heartbeat rises. Someone else was there, it wasn’t from the tv and you knew it. With shaking hands you shut off the shower and grasp your towel, wrapping your body in it roughly. Your mind starts to race. Will they leave without knowing you were there? Will they find you? What will they do if they do? Looking around the room, you panic when your phone is missing. It’s still downstairs. Fuck.
The footfalls grow louder as they climb the stairs, slowly. And then, as though he knows you would be hiding, Noah calls out.
“Are you home? It’s just me! Please don't attack me!”
The breath you were holding onto finally is let out, and you stomp over to the door, swinging it open aggressively.
“What the fuck, Noah!” You yell at him, hair dripping onto the floor as he stares at you like a deer caught in headlights. His hair was longer now, coming close to sitting on his shoulders. His dark brown eyes were wide as they stared at you, in a towel, in the middle of the hallway, with an angry expression twisted in your face. “I thought you were coming to kill me!”
It was then that you noticed a bag in his hand, a garbage bag, full of the rubbish that has been littering your house for weeks. “Are you cleaning?”
He still is looking at you, “I thought it would help…” he says sheepishly.
“Why are you cleaning?” you ask, quite literally dumbfounded.
“I know what you’re like. This isn’t healthy. I’m cleaning and you’re going to pack a bag and come live with us” he stated matter-of-factly.
“Come live with you?”
He nods his head, then turns and walks into your bedroom. You see the light in the room shift as he slides the curtains and opens the window, letting a light breeze slowly waft into the room and down towards you. You’re still confused as you see him rummaging around in your bedroom, throwing rubbish into a bag, then looking up to meet your confused stare.
“I can pack a bag for you if you’re just going to stand there” he remarks, and you respond quickly.
“I’ll pack myself, thank you very much. I’ve seen your fashion sense and I don’t trust you”
“What do you mean!” Noah calls back in disbelief.
“Grass shoes!” You yell back.
He stands in silence for a moment. “Enough said,” he states finally in defeat.
As you walk into your room, you start to feel overwhelmed watching Noah already having a full bag of trash. He was here all of 5 minutes and had done more around the house than you had in a month. Guilt started to eat away at the pit of your stomach, and Noah noticed the energy shift in the room. When he looked at you tears started to form.
“Hey…. Hey hey hey hey” he says, dropping the bag and coming to your side, wrapping his long arms around you. You bury your head in his chest and loop your arms around him. Breathing in his scent helped, but it didn’t stop the tears completely.
“I can stop if it’s not helping”
“No, please, I’m just sorry. It’s a lot. I haven’t seen you in so long”
“I know, but I knew I had to do something.”
It took all of a few hours to get the house into a relatively clean state. With bags of rubbish out of the way, clothes and dishes put back into their place, weeks of dirt and grime finally cleaned, you started to feel alive again. There was something about spending time with Noah that made you feel better. When the sun was starting to set, your house looked normal, bags were packed, and you were closing the door behind you as you left and walked towards Noah’s car.
The drive back to his house was quiet. You watched out the window as the view zoomed past. It seemed odd being outside, to be moving somewhere especially when you were not supposed to be leaving your house. But this was essential. This was for a medical reason. If Noah had not come to help you, who knows how long it would have taken to start completely falling apart.
When you finally pulled into the driveway, Noah stepped out and collected your bags, then headed straight inside having you follow him in. Although it was early, you were exhausted.
“I think I might just go straight to bed,” you murmur to Noah. He nods, then leads you to a bedroom. It was mostly bare, but it would be perfect. After how much clutter you had been surrounded with lately, the minimalism was refreshing.
You drop your bags on the bed, then turn to see Noah at the door.
“If you need anything, you know to come find me” he speaks softly. You nod in response. He then closes the door leaving you with nothing but yourself.
You look around the room. A bed was pushed up against the wall. A painting hung opposite it, and a plant stood tall in the corner by the door. The view out of the window showed the tall tree that stood in the backyard by the timber fence, and it looked like there were a few small birds taking up residence in a nest off one of the branches. You smiled at the birds, admiring their own peacefulness. They were content. Happy. Living with what they had. You were determined to get there yourself.
After a restless night’s sleep, you awoke to the sun shining through the window. The birds had left for the morning, possibly to get their food, and you decided you needed to do the same.
As you exit out of your new bedroom, the house is quiet aside from the muffled sounds of the tv from around the corner. You come around to see the animated faces of unknown characters playing out. It was an anime, and you were unfamiliar, but you did recognise the back of 2 heads facing the screen with their back to you. Noah and Jolly were sitting down on a couch lost in the adventure they were watching. You rounded the couch and slumped next to them. Nothing needed to be said, and nothing was said. They just shifted over to give you more room and continued on with their show.
This is what you needed. This new normal. With people around you. People that made you smile, made you actually want to get up in the morning, and to watch funny shows with.
As the anime continued, you started to ask some questions. “So who’s side are we supposed to be on?” “Aren’t they supposed to be the bad guy?” “What do you mean they just died?” “How old are these characters supposed to be?”
Noah and Jolly answered every single one of them, explaining plot points, theories and sometimes even loopholes in the storytelling.
After an hour, Jolly left to retreat to the kitchen, leaving yourself and Noah sitting side by side. He looked over at you, sharing a smile, and threw his arm over your shoulder. The action made you fall onto his side, a strangely comforting feeling after being so distant for so long. But a feeling that you knew you could get used to pretty quick.
2 months have passed now. You were still living with Noah and the boys. He still made you laugh and smile like you never had before. The days were simple, spending time with each other, watching shows, writing music, and playing games. But tonight it was another night on the couch. It became a tradition these days to all be sprawled out, limbs over limbs, invading personal space, all in an effort to spend quality time together and work as a close unit of friends. It felt so natural with them, they were beyond welcoming, and made you feel like a part of the family.
Just like all the nights that had passed previously, Nick was the first to go, standing with a sigh, rubbing his belly, and sauntering off into his room. Next to follow was Jolly, after many arguments about his falling asleep during the show, he finally admitted defeat and retreated back to his bedroom.
This left you and Noah alone. The growing haze of sleepiness was creeping ever so close to taking over. Your eyelids felt so heavy that it was impossible to keep them open. I’ll just rest my eyes for a minute, you say to yourself, knowing full well this was the biggest lie. It was mere seconds until the dream state took you under.
You were abruptly awoken by the feeling of rummaging coming from beneath you. Lifting your head from its place, you peer between the slits of your open eyes. You’re met with Noah’s face looking at you, perplexed and a little worried.
“Go back to sleep, I’m sorry I woke you” he whispers in a soft tone, a little raspy and sleepy himself.
Twisting your head you can see you laying by his side, squished between his body and the back of the couch pillows. Noah was laying on his back, dangling close to the edge, one leg hanging off at the knee to stop from slipping off altogether. His hands rested on your back, gliding up and down in a soothing motion. His arm was twisted around your side, with you nestled comfortably and quite perfectly fitted under his arm with head resting on his chest.
A hand of yours was tucked under your head, and it takes a second to realize how you got here. When you fell asleep, you must have slipped down onto Noah, and him being the gentleman he is, didn’t want to wake you. Was he asleep himself? By the look of his hair, spread across the beige pillow in a tangled mess, it’d be a good guess to say that he was.
You lay your head down once more, gazing drizzly up at Noah, who tenderly brushed some of the loose strands of hair away from your face.
“You know you talk in your sleep” he uttered quietly, as if not to disturb the peacefulness of the moment.
Still half asleep, you close your eyes and sigh.
“I was afraid of that” you whisper.
“It was adorable,” he says, a gentle smile playing at the corners of his lips.
Noah leans his head down, straining it at an almost awkward angle, to meet your face. Suddenly, you weren’t so sleepy anymore. He was so close. His breath washed over your face and wafted down past your neck. He was lingering, slow, questioningly. Did he want this? Did you? Shivers were running down your spine, possibly from the surge of butterflies in your stomach. Noah was your friend, your closest friend, and would this ruin it? Thoughts were running wild in your head, dancing dangerously close to ruining what was about to happen.
Noah notices, he sees you hesitate, and he pulls back. Your stomach drops.
“I’m sorry, I-“ he starts.
You interrupt him by leaning up and meeting his lips with yours. He flinched at the impact, but didn't pull back. Instead, his lips move like yours, mimicking the motion you create, parting slightly to allow just that tiny bit more of a connection. You slide up, straddling Noah so that your thighs are at the sides of his torso, moving your hands so they are on either side of his face, fingers tangling with his long hair in a feeble attempt to ground yourself in the moment. His hands move too, gingerly griping at your hips, but not as to hold, but to caress. You feel a tremor of anticipation across your body, the light pressure that he creates between you two, rolling his body to be closer to yours, makes the sensation even more intimate.
You’re still kissing him, heavily. His mouth parts more, flicking the tip of his tongue over your lips as though to ask for more. You respond with the same motion, with tongues now intertwining as you begin to taste him. The fears and worries from before are long gone, and all that you could think of now was him, was that he wants this just as much as you do.
The intensity between you and Noah grows more. It's as if the universe has narrowed down to this singular moment, where every touch, every sensation, becomes heightened and electrifying. The taste of his lips, the warmth of his breath, the softness of his skin — it all consumes your senses.
With each passing second, the kiss deepens, evolving into something more profound and passionate. Your tongues dance together, exploring the uncharted territory of each other's mouths. It's a delicate balance between fervor and tenderness, a beautiful symphony of desire and affection, orchestrated perfectly just for the two of you.
Noah's hands glide up your sides, his touch leaving a trail of fire in its wake. As his hands slip beneath your shirt, his fingers gently caress your skin, sending waves of pleasure coursing through your body and intensifying the sensation. Time becomes irrelevant as you revel in this newfound closeness. The outside world ceases to exist, and it's just the two of you, entwined in an embrace that speaks volumes without uttering a single word. In this intimate dance, you feel a profound sense of trust and vulnerability, knowing that you are sharing something special and rare.
You can feel him begin to writhe beneath you, legs shifting and pressing against the space between yours. You pause momentarily, letting the moment linger, before reciprocating the same passion, grinding down with your hips to create friction between your clothes. The moan that elicits from Noah echoes into your mouth, the feeling of pleasure taking over him for a moment. As the kiss lingers, your hands wander, discovering the contours of each other's bodies. His hands now gripping desperately at your body, one cinched below your thigh, pulling it up closer to him, the other hooked around the back of your neck, thumb rubbing delicate shapes into your skin. Every touch, every caress, elicits a gasp or a sigh from both of you, like a plea for more.
But eventually, the need for air becomes undeniable, and you reluctantly break the kiss, your lips still tingling from the connection. Breathless and flushed, you meet Noah's gaze, searching for reassurance and affirmation. He looks back at you, with the same search in his eyes. Almost like he’s looking for answers too, like he’s asking if he could continue. You lean your forehead against Noah's, your breaths intermingling as you revel in the afterglow of that passionate kiss. Both of you are out of breath, panting in an effort to regain some kind of consciousness. Time seems to stand still, as if the universe itself is holding its breath, acknowledging the significance of this shared moment. That is, until the rattle of the fridge door, and the flood of its light tears you from the moment, violently throwing you back to the reality around you. With a jolt, your head darts towards the source, the silhouette of Jolly in the fridge gives you your answer.
“Bout time you guys kiss and make up” he says, with such a carefree nature, a hint of humor playing in his last words. “Nick, you owe me 20!” He calls, exiting the room and around the corner.
“We’re they fucking, or just making out?” You hear Nick call from another room.
“Just making out. Thank Christ” Jolly answers to himself, leaving you and Noah to giggle, flushed red with embarrassment. Despite being caught in the act, it didn’t dampen the mood. You were still straddling Noah, but sitting more upright now. He sits up, readjusting so you sit atop his lap. He brushes a loose strand behind your ear, and looks at you tenderly.
It might be the lack of oxygen, but the way the colorful light from the tv dances on Noah’s face makes him seem more beautiful, like something you’ve never seen in him before.
In the room's shifting shadows, the illustrations decorating his neck come alive, dancing in the changing colors that starkly contrast with the white of his shirt. His hair was a mess, tangled and knitted from your fingers, but it was his eyes, and the way they looked into your soul, that made you feel at home. With your hands draped around his neck, you lean in once more, placing a gentle kiss on his lips. He closes his eyes and leans into you again, pushing his hands against your back to make you closer to him as you both revel in the fleeting moment. Even if it did change things in the future, you didn’t care.
