i feel like their relationship i can't even put a label on it because it's just so abnormal and codependent and... just the way they look at each other i can't find the right word in the english vocab to describe it.
that's what i like about the story anyway, the fact that their relationship was more in a grey area than anything else. i think the author definitely did that on purpose.
Exactly. It's the way Jaeha structured their bond when they were kids like — "Only I can truly make you feel normal", that his younger brother clung onto those actions (also because no one else bothered to get very close to him anyways), where Jaeha managed to break free from the bond because Taeho and him reconciled but he was unable to handle the damage he he'd inflicted on Yoseob, till the end he was unable to properly communicate with him, unlike Taeho who came clean about his emotions. Which lead to Yoseob being stuck in the past, forever it seemed. I hope he did manage to get help but the manhwa obv ended on a sad note for him (Ngl the last panel made me tear up).
Tbh it was more abnormal when it began, the chapters where they were highschoolers where just Jaeha slowly running away from Yoseob (he doesn't comfort him either when they were sleeping together and Yoseob was begging him to stay), and just in General. It's like a baby chick being imprinted on the first thing he sees, only that thing caused him a slow and excruciating death.

An Uncomfortable Truth
I just finished reading this manhwa and it was terrifying. The epilogue was bleak, but reasonable, and I’ll mention some things I thought about while reading it!
First off, the author’s way of fleshing out characters is spectacular. They manage to introduce a main cast of incredibly flawed individuals and yet make you root for them. Nam Yoseob is the best example, - he’s both baby boy & evil -, but I was personally impressed with Hwang Yura’s. Her archetype (pretty and superficial popular girl) is usually unlikable and hard to relate to, but the author managed to flesh her out in a way that her wrongdoings were, though inexcusable, understandable. I was able to sympathize with her and I was rooting for her to grow and become the best version of herself!
I think it’s great storytelling that all the characters retain some of their characteristic flaws at the end of the story; Yura is still reckless and infatuated with looks, Taeoh retains his semblance to a cowardly bully, and Yoseob is definitely insane, but their effort in becoming better (fruitful or not) is undeniable.
On that note, I didn’t understand Yoseob’s intent in giving his umbrella to Yura. She repulsed him, he puked at the bare thought of “liking” her, and he cringed when she threw the umbrella away. I believe he did it to incriminate her as a thief in front of Jaeha.
This bothers me slightly but it’s completely minor: Jaeha, Taeoh and Yura have the same eye color. Like, they all have nice designs, but it’s odd.
Now I'll proceed to detail a list of things that should have ended different while still retaining the overall tragic tone, and my thoughts for a subsequent sequel. All these because I can’t deal.
Onto the main issue for me - the epilogue. I would rather Nam Jaeha ended comatose instead of dead. Though his accidental death at the hands of Yoseob was poetic, it was cruel and unsatisfactory - it felt like a way out. If he remained alive but unavailable, not only would it set the ground for further development, it would had given Yura and Taeho a future. Jaeha’s life was riddled with suffering, and his death didn’t free him; it lacked catharsis. I want Jaeha to spend several years bed-ridden, hearing his family and friends grieve - the greatest relief and the greatest torture: to be loved without being able to love back - before awakening into adulthood with a new world to adjust to.
Later, I would like to see his story of rehabilitation and his interactions with the other character. I want Jaeha to live without Yoseob, finally unburdened, and to face him properly this time.
This is based on Erased (Boku dake ga Inai Machi "The Town Where Only I Am Missing") because I respect it.
I want Nam Yoseob to meet his ruin. I want Taeoh to throw Jaeha’s fate to his face and call him a monster, to expose his insanity. I want Taeoh to tell Yoseob exactly why Jaeha liked him, and why he was wrong to do so. I want Yura, now mature and unshakable, to render Yoseob a lonely, pathetic, harmless inmate and tell him exactly why Jaeha would never look at him with the same passion, and why he can’t undo his mess - she’s no longer afraid, and she’s ruthless. I want Yoseob to listen to his adoptive parents and learn more about his mother, Mrs. Seo, through them, and finally, I want to see Yoseob confronted with the truth only to realize he was tricked by his own personal demon, allowing its influence to enact unspeakable horrors on everything he loved. I want Yoseob to stare at Jaeha’s Hallucination as it deforms and turns into his shadow self, black eyes and prickled skin and monstrous face.
I just think it’s fair - everyone was faced with an uncomfortable truth. He should too. I want him to go to therapy, not get redemption, but at least try to be better. Become someone Jaeha would be proud of.
Ideally, Lee Taeoh earns courage from Jaeha’s fate and ultimately pursues detective work with Jaeha's older look-like. He turns his grief into rage, and sets the stage for the story to further delve into more horrifying depictions of psychological thriller through the criminal system - think Law & Order or Criminal Minds. I also think law enforcement seems a fitting profession for a redeemed-bully. It would allow him edge on his flaws and his virtues.
I envision he pursues this career and begins ditching therapy, just to make his pursuit more obsessive and unhealthy. He could replace his sessions with more frequent visits to Jaeha’s hospital bed, confiding him with his progress and thoughts on his daily life. Once Jaeha ultimately wakes up, they would understand each other more, and appreciate each other’s company.
In the end, I want Taeoh to renounce the workforce, as it’s clearly an unhealthy coping mechanism that’s worsening his mental health, and continue living with his family and friends as main focus.
I would personally like for Hwang Yura and Park Woojin to make amends. I want a heartfelt heart-to-heart where she apologizes for using him as a way to escape her personal problems, and he sympathizes with her extreme circumstances and admits to feeling terrible after she was assaulted. She can open up about her past experiences with other boys, and how she couldn’t help but think lowly of him and be wary of his touch, and he could reveal his past interest in her a person, regardless of her changing attitude. Even if she was too blind to see his true intentions due to being mistreated in the past, his feelings were true.
I think she could begin properly falling in love with him (cosmic karma) only to notice he was dating the pony-tail girl who warned him about Yura, Yoon Soojung. This would be her next heartbreak after Jaeha’s hospitalization.
I want her to meet her school friend, Song Seungmi, and rekindle their friendship through the odds. Maybe Seungmi could be dating Yura’s terrible ex, Junyoung, and Yura could help her out.
I want more on the side characters! Park Jaegyu (Taeoh’s friend), Jaeryoung & Minseok (Jaeha’s friends), and other side characters, like Kim Gunwoo, or that shaved head guy.
Onto relationships:
Taeoh and Yura’s “Tom and Jerry” relationship is peak solidarity and must continue at all costs. I would ship them for this and this only.
I think Yura has more chances at her love life than Taeoh, and to be honest, anyone she feels comfortable dating is enough for me.
Jaeha is also a good fit for any of these two, but I do hope his lover can make the pain of existence worthwhile, and provide a love so devote that it’s unforgivable and consumes absolutely. Baby boy.

Why do you want it to be a phase? Highlight is so good and I highly recommend checking out their music when they were going by B2ST. Shock is so good and Beautiful Night is such a summer night party banger, that song never gets old and it’s so damn good. Good Luck and Yey and Adrenaline are also really good too I recommend those songs as well. Also 12:30 and Ribbon and Butterfly are slow jams. They came out with Ribbon and Butterfly before they changed they name and left cube so it’s got such a nostalgic and significant feeling to me personally. Also cause of the time it was released and when I listened to it just reminds me of a summer night. ALSO CALLING YOU AND PLEASE DONT BE SAD ARE SO GOOD. Ugh I really need to get back into them it’s been so long since I’ve listened to Highlight. Not since way before the members Al started enlisting. I DID WATCH PREDATOR THO!
