I hate the expression, “you’re an adult so you must be able to *insert thing here*”
Like… some people can’t ??

Being neurodivergent and messaging (my perspective. Please feel free to add your own in comments/reblogs)
1. Anxiety (GAD)
2. Studying what people like so I have a conversation starter
3. Not being able to start/continue conversations (hi how are you? Good, you? Good…)
4. Always starting the conversations.
5. Feeling like no one actually wants to talk to me or cares.
6. Talking about myself most of the time because there’s only so much small talk that can be done.
7. OR never talking about myself in case I’m boring/annoying and only asking the other person stuff.
8. Being ghosted (HURTS a lot, cause of RSD)
9. Or accidentally ghosting others and realising too much time has passed so now it would be embarrassing.
10. Trying hard to keep in touch and realising that the other person is uninterested.
11. Missing social cues EVEN when people aren’t there/face to face/irl.
12. Feeling like a failure
13. Realising that if you don’t message people, literally no one would message you at all.

It’s not so much changes of plans that make me anxious/annoyed/etc it’s not knowing what the plans are in the first place…
Uncertainty and such…

Hi, my name is Link (they/them) and I’m an autistic researcher working towards completing my Capstone distinction and I’m asking you for help in finding autistic volunteers. I’m studying the effect that neurotypical prejudices against autistics have on an autistic person and their high school experience because, as I’m sure you know, so often research on autism comes from a neurotypical perspective. I need 20 autistic individuals from the ages of 15-19 willing to be recorded introducing themselves and complete a survey about their high school experience. Clinically or Self-diagnosed, it would be great if you could direct them to message me here on Tumblr, email [email protected] or DM me on Instagram and Facebook @LinkCapstoneProject for more details. (Neurotypical volunteers are also welcome and needed.)

a question from a self dx autistic- is it possible to be autistic and never have meltdowns or shutdowns? I don't even mean rarely. I've never had a shutdown or a meltdown in my entire life. I relate to a vast majority of other autistic traits, however, and I've taken my fair share of legit autism tests and they all came back with overwhelmingly high scores. Sorry for the unnecessarily long ask, but I was just feeling a bit of imposter syndrome because of it and I was wondering if you could help.
Hi!
Yeah it’s definitely possible! Autism is on a spectrum and everyone is so different; same with autistic people.
Have you tried the RAADS-R test and other tests on https://embrace-autism.com/autism-tests/ ?
Hope this helps…

Apparently I’m missing social cues and the person is not even in front of me so we’re doing well. Yay /s
