ANYWAY, I got a surprise visit from @rosequartzzine today and I'm super delighted by everything!

Some might know, I only fully joined the fandom around the Diamond Days—and because of that I was always so bummed seeing these great zine projects that already came and went years before I ever knew about or had the money for them. So to hear about everyone's work over at Garden of Secrets, and actually get to back this and help them bring it to life, I was pretty excited—and it paid off!

This is a piece I made for The Sun's Journey zine, which focused on everyone's interpretation of Azem through art and prose. (Leftover copies are still being sold until the 21st if your interest is piqued!)

My Azem likes to bring back little souvenirs from their travels, and met some interesting young ones while looking for something for Mitron. ♪ The original thought was the serpents could be part of the base for later tales of Llymlaen's pets.

While it’s on my mind— once my studio is set up in Salem/Boston, I’ll be selling some of the original pieces from A Murder Confessional, and to a lesser degree, Tell Me You Love Me (among other works).

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, so I'll just cover a few things:

To switch between double and single pages for the whole document, you'll want to go into Document Setup and switch from Facing Pages to Single pages.

As for in zines where I use single pages for the fics and single-page art, but "double" pages for spread-sized art, I made a little hack for myself >;3c

(I probably didn't invent this, but I've never seen any other zine layout do it, lol)

The "double" for the spread art is literally just a single page, but with its size changed to be as tall and wide as two regular pages side by side. (You don't want to do this for a print copy bc of bleed and stuff, but it's OK to change sizing around page to page for a purely digital zine, and it makes it much MUCH easier to read on mobile! Since all zines I do layout for usually include alt text/hyperlinks/other digital enhancements, I redo the page sizing as well when I create the digital PDF from the PDF we send to the printers. Because it's important to me that the digital product have just as much love in it as the print copy. I hate it when I buy a digital zine and it feels like an afterthought, like they just threw out the same file from the printer bc the digital copies aren't as important, y'know?)

Anyway </soapbox> lol, to achieve this you'll just want to set the whole document to single pages, and make a few different Master pages - one for your fic layout, one for your regular sized art, and one double-sized Master page for the big spread art.

You can change the page size for this last one in Document Setup, it's a little fiddly - make sure only the one master page is selected, and then double the width of the page (the smallest number).

Then apply your Masters to the actual pages of your zine, using only the one with funky sizing for the pages you want to appear as "two" pages/ a spread. (A dialog box will come up like 'im scared the sizes are different!!!!' just hit yes and let it resize em)

Ta-da! Fake 'toggleable' facing pages, without using actual facing pages because I hate them ♡ I hope this was helpful!!!

I am absolutely beside myself with excitement to announce the launch of Unprintable.

Unprintable is an online free shop, where original artwork and arts resources are released into the public domain.

Everything listed here is free to use, copy and remix any way you like. You can print off hi-res artwork to decorate your apartment, or to use in your own projects. You can use the writing in your own zines, anthologies or performances. You can put it on a t-shirt. You can read it on the radio. You can paint it on a truck. It's up to you, entirely and forever.

The collection will be updated continuously, on an unfixed schedule, with contributions from a wide range of named and anonymous artists and activists. You can read the FAQ for a full rundown of what Unprintable is and why it exists, but these are the really important parts:

Can I download/print/use the work listed here? Yes. Can I use it for [X]? You can do whatever you want with it forever. But what if I want to [Y]? You can do whatever you want with it forever. Why do this? A few reasons: 1. We want a space to just share things, no strings attached. We recognise that copyright is an irrational system that was designed to protect the profit interests of publishing middlemen and IP hoarders. In fact, copyright is often weaponised against the creators it pretends to protect. As long as it exists, we are unlikely to win any other form of protection for our work, and we are profoundly limited from engaging in the kind of communal artistic and storytelling practices that were the norm around the world for thousands of years. 2. Radical art is often unprintable. Profit motives make people cautious. A lot of print-on-demand or local print shop services will refuse artwork with controversial, sensitive or political content. This is very frustrating when these themes are the focus of so much of our work (and indeed our lives). Rather than waste any more breath trying to explain why a trans artist might want to print the word ‘faggot’, we can give our work away for free. Got a printer? It’s yours. 3. It feels good. Sharing is joyful. It’s the reason we love making things in the first place. We don’t write poems because we look forward to filleting them for consumption, or layer colours so that we can sell a canvas by the ounce. We have only ever wanted to be able to support ourselves so that we can make, but that relationship is deeply dysfunctional under capitalism. We made these things, and we want you to have them. My spread for @dpauzine! It was a lot of work (the  d a y s  I spent agonizing over all those chains) but I think it paid off. :)

This AU is semi-tentatively labeled the Phantom Reaper AU. I hope the comic is self explanatory, but the idea is Phantom is a grim reaper from the zone who came to claim Danny’s soul when he entered the portal, only the accident wound up ruining everything and now he and Danny are stuck together until Danny gives up living... which isn’t happening anytime soon.

I haven’t hammered out all the details and I don’t know if I ever will, but Danny’s the only one who can see Phantom (or the chains for that matter) other than ghosts and people who are close to death. Potentially Phantom can lend Danny his powers if necessary. Phantom ends up getting attached to Danny at some point down the line--emotionally, not supernaturally. Whoops.

listen i know we all love steve “completely ignorant of queer culture to the point that bisexuality is a surprise” harrington being roasted and educated in turns by robin and eddie, yadda yadda, good stuff. i read “they made a horror version of rocky?” in a fic recently and cackled. also a big fan of “he knew he was bi from the start and just never talked about it” as a trope, love it excellent well done

but what about steve who realizes after starcourt that the most important person in his life now has this thing that’s a major part of her life that he knows nothing about, and what if he fucks it up? what if he says something ignorant or rude by accident, and hurts her? what if he loses her because he didn’t know the right thing to say? what if he can’t keep her safe because he doesn’t know what to look out for? absolutely fucking not, this steve says

and listen she’d never say anything, because she can tell that he can tell how much she likes teasing him and teaching him things, so he plays dumb, and she thinks it’s very sweet. but she notices when the zines she keeps under her bed that she buys at that one secret bookshop in indy when she can sneak away on family trips start going missing, always one at a time, and replaced in a few days with another disappearing. and she finds the new ones he must have gone to buy the weekend she was at her aunt’s house hidden in the back of his closet when she goes to steal one of his sweaters. and she notices when he slips more of her queerer movie recommendations into his personal take home pile rather than the movie night stack when he thinks she’s not looking.

she doesn’t notice when he drives to indianapolis after she tries to explain to him why she can’t just ask out a cute girl, tries to impress on him the fear attached to every moment of attraction that he simply has never had to feel, but later she finds a crumpled receipt from a diner in one of his jacket pockets when she’s looking for his keys, and the address is across the street from the bar the gorgeous woman at the bookstore told her about, the one she memorized the address of but hasn’t worked up the guts to think about visiting, and she knows he must have gone looking for a place like that, must have been trying to understand, must have been scoping it out to make sure it was somewhere she could feel safe, after she told him she never had.

so when eddie nearly pops a blood vessel when they clock each other and she mentions that steve is the only person she’s ever come out to before, her hackles come up. because she gets it, she does, he’s only known king steve until recently, so it makes sense that he would be afraid, be concerned for her safety.

but steve is her person, and no one- no one- has ever made her feel as protected or as cared for as he does. no one has ever tried as hard to understand her, no one has ever put so much work into making her feel safe and seen and loved. and she thinks maybe even if no one else ever does, that’s ok. because she has steve, and more importantly steve has her, and that means no one gets to question his ally credentials in her presence without a dressing down to remember, no matter how well they mean or how recently they helped save the world.

(and maybe she’s not as surprised as she could be when he figures out bisexuality all on his own, because she’s been reading all the same pamphlets he has, after all. and she’s seen the way he looks at eddie, i mean come on. maybe no one else has noticed, but then, nobody knows steve harrington like she does.)

Haunted AU- Danny's ghost form exists as a disembodied spirit attached to his human self. Phantom exists with a less distinct, more shadow-like form that can freely morph itself and manipulate the atmosphere of its environment. This entity feeds off of Danny and his emotions and is no stranger to inciting incidents that will produce its needs.  In other words this is just my excuse for spoopy shadow imagery :p
