men suck so bad and i do not think they know that. like i dont think they have a clue how much like four little things are actually huge big things and it causes girls (me) to have to blog on tumblr.com on their dying eighth grade laptop bc she (me) said something so cringe and pathetic to try to smuggle out even a hint of affection or care that she cannot physically use her (me) phone because she (me) is terrified of what he will respond, or better yet! not respond to at all. i am twenty years old and in a matter of hours i am reduced to my fifteen year old self who just wanted the hot guy to call her pretty and endured three years of torture for it

We may be going extinct but at least we have each other.

Lily and Alice only exist in the in-betweens. In between classes, in between sheets, in between Alice’s dates with her boyfriend. They fill the little nowhere spaces together with perfect touches and kisses and the lingering scent of honey and vanilla. But touches pass, kisses end, scents fade, and Lily finds herself alone. Alice always goes back to her boyfriend.

As the other girls around her pair off with boys, Lily feels like an outsider. She catches herself wondering what it would be like to just go on one date, kiss one boy, but she suspects his tongue would taste like dirt. She’s heard that girls like her do better after school, options widened in the terrifying Real World that looms outside the castle walls. For now, though, all she can do is slip into the cracks, filing them like ivy, and try not to develop too many cracks of her own.

It’s my middle child’s 3rd birthday today 🥺

3 years ago my partner was deployed overseas and couldn’t come home for the birth because the military didn’t want to spend so much time quarantining their soldiers. Fortunately I had help as my parents were watching my son (at the time just a month shy of 2) for a few days before my due date and we had moved across the street from my partner’s parents when we found out about the deployment. So I had his mom with me at the hospital holding up her phone while we got to have a rare video call with my partner as we welcomed our daughter into the world after a very quick labor. I then had two months with our two very little kids by myself before he came home. It was an incredibly hectic time and I’m still not quite sure how I was able to get through all of that but here we are with the sweetest little 3 year old (let’s call her C) we could have asked for 🥰

C loves to play dress up and she has specific characters she’ll play as where you can’t refer to her as her name or she’ll get mad. She’s not C she’s Dr C or Baby or Baby Kitty or Princess Bucket (this was her first character and yes she does put a bucket on her head as a crown). Her favorite game to play is hide and seek and she loves dance parties and drawing and she’s obsessed with her 1 year old sister. We love C so much and I’m so excited to see how she grows and changes and learns over this next year ❤️

now that i've moved on to reading les misérables aloud, i'm still having the same problem i had with le comte de monte-cristo (i.e., le procureur du roi continues to dog my every step), but a new issue has arisen, viz., i'm only 60 pages in and i've already gotten so choked up with emotion that i've had to stop reading two different times. and all that's happened so far is hugo has been giving background on the guy who will eventually let jean valjean steal his candlesticks. we have not met even a single major character yet. heh heh. i'm in danger.

so yesterday, a friend of mine died. her name was kiwi. she was 27. i’d known her since 2018. she was smart, funny, talented and utterly sweet
