what is it about trying to learn health facts or hygeine or body care that after a certain point it tailspins into online fanaticism. why does my mom believe gut health powders meditation and sunlight mean she will never die or age. girl i just want to find a good yogurt brand
#we're trying different yogurts bc our kid (also has autism) is super super food picky#moreso than i ever was as a kid#forrest never had issues with food more sensory things like sound and heat/textile stuff#whereas i was super super picky BUT. i was always introduced to something of at least diff food groups#so even if i onyl atelike 6 things id always have One vegetable. One probiotic. One protein source. u get the deal#we only recently got our kid to start eating fish sticks and chicken and even beef!#so hes got protein down. before he only at chips and frozen mini pizzas. like thats literally it#and he eats bananas and strawberries. we got him vitamin/protein drinks for the time being so hes not nutrient deficient#and he likes those theyre chocolate#but we're trying to find a yogurt he doesnt mind bc he doesnt have like. any. digestive or fiber ro like anything ot help him#i dont want him to feel sick and sluggish all the time . we've had a lot of success with the drinkable yogurts#but talking abuot this made my mom start talking about gut health.......

It's kinda shocking to me how few people seem to know how prevalent the 'my great grandmother was cherokee' myth is and how it's almost never actually true, especially when it comes with things like 'never signed up' or 'fell off the trail' or 'courthouse burned down destorying the documentation' etc etc.
People just don't even seem to know the history like.. when the Trail happened. My great great great grandfather was 2 years old during Removal in 1838, so peoples 'my great grandmother hid in the mountains!' is so clearly wrong. And we have rolls. From before and after removal, rolls done by cherokee nation and others by the government, rolls that were not stored in one random flammable courthouse. It's not difficult to find the actual evidence of ancestry.
And just.. there are lots of ways those family stories get started. It was a practice during the confederacy to claim cherokee ancestry to show one's family had 'deep roots in the south' that they were there before the cherokee were removed. Many people pretended to be cherokee and applied for the Guion-Miller payout just to try to steal money meant for cherokees - 2/3rds of the applicants were denied for having 0 proof of actual cherokee ancestry. [We even see lawyers advertising signing up for the Miller roll just to try to get free money.] And the myth even started in some families in the cherokee land lotteries, where the land stolen from us was raffled off, including the house and everything that was left behind when the cherokees were removed. We have seen people whose families just take these things stolen from the cherokee family and adopt them into their own family story, saying that they were cherokee themselves.
If you had some family story about being cherokee and you wanna have proof one way or the other, check out this Facebook group run by expert cherokee genealogists that do research for free. Just please read the rules fully and respect the researchers. They run thousands of people's ancestries a year and their average is only around 0.7% of lines they run actually end up having true cherokee ancestry.

Fabian and Riz to me are like. They’re like the definition of “a secret third thing” to me but not like in a qpr way. Their thing is just Their Thing, like they’re inseparable they drive each other fucking bonkers they care so deeply and they’re stupid teenagers and I don’t think they would even really think about it at all. - the Wicked shirt and the blue button down (from the group pic in the first photoset) are both shirts i’ve owned for a long time and are still in my closet right now
- the team illinois and team nebraska captains are named dani (daniela) and miya and pretty much exactly what happened between bryce and clark also happened with them. they also spent a summer road-tripping together; prime grounds for homosexual thoughts to happen
- for anybody who’s watched the off book episode The Kids Are At Night with Mary Sohn (10/10 episode highly recommended), i imagine that most nights after clark gets done helping his sisters* with their homework he’s probably looking up online editions of Boy Boy Magazine. gotta get connected to the culture
* = my headcanon is that he has two sisters, one older one younger
- the Away Team is from the same country as Princess Emily but they’re diehard Nothing Everything Children Glass fans (is there an actual name for the group who made it?? tag with your headcanon for the band name) and there is a rivalry between the two factions

I can’t believe I have to say this again.
But like.
Do not leave comments that bash on the actual show whilst ‘complimenting’ my fanworks. It does not make me happy at all IN FACT I really HATE it when people do that.
I create stuff for this fandom because I adore the show with all its flaws and everything. I grew up with the show and I adore the characters so much. So when I receive comments or tags saying stuff like “Ugh if only the writers knew how to write like that” or “You should be in charge of canon cos canon is shit lol”, it just fucks up my mood and it makes me feel grossed out.
There are millions of things out there to write or say to other people about their work without having to bring down canon and what the actual professionals have worked on.
Keep your gripes about the show off my work.

been thinking about for a long time how i really missing doing creative projects with others but at the same time its always blown up in my face so i think im not going to do it anymore
#its great when it works but when it doesnt (always for me) it just sucks real bad and at this point i think id just rather do my own thing#thunderclap#on the flipside i miss discussing oc stuff with friends but i havent been able to do that for a long time for various reasons#esp. just bouncing ideas off of each other which is how i used to do worldbuilding or at least getting some feedback and i think thats#why recently i have stagnated so so so much in terms of worldbuilding i dont really have anything going on with anyone#art is a collaborative between you and the world but what do you do when no one around you really cares?#i know venting about it on my blog wont fix it by any means but its my god given right to complain about it <3

I'm not particularly surprised unfortunately, not the first time it's happened with that comic — sadly I don't think there's much I can do about it, especially since I don't have a tiktok myself. But thank you for letting me know! I do like to know whenever that happens, even if I can't do anything to get the videos taken down. At the very least, it's a reminder that I should really start putting some sort of signature on my comics 😅
...Also, in this particular case the video you linked actually made me laugh when I looked at it, because!! Quick storytime: the last time someone messaged me to let me know that a tiktoker had reposted the horrors comic, I went and looked at it and noticed that the reposter had put two of the comic pages in the wrong order. Somehow NO ONE in the comments had mentioned the fact that the order of events didn't flow right, it was hilarious.
Why is this relevant? Well, because this tiktok you've linked me to has the SAME EXACT MISTAKE, which indicates to me that this new person didn't even steal it from me directly, they stole it from the OTHER REPOSTER and also didn't notice the mistake in page order! The reposters are cannibalizing each other! I am both very entertained and utterly baffled by the lack of effort! They're not even stealing things well!
Anyway, all this to say: I have managed to find the humor in this kind of situation, but I still do not appreciate people reposting my stuff, especially without credit. And general PSA that if you see my comics/artwork anywhere that is not here on my tumblr, or on my AO3 account forest_raccoon, that is not posted by me, and it has been done without my permission.
#tldr; don't repost artist's work! it is not kind#...about this particular case though —#comparing the two tiktok pages really convinced me that that reposter 2 is just stealing from reposter 1#they've even reposted some comics from artists that are missing full pages and thus do not make sense#similar complaint: reposter 1 also stole the 'wrecking ball; comic I did recently#and they DIDN'T USE WRECKING BALL BY MOTHER MOTHER AS THE BACKGROUND SONG#HOW DO YOU MESS THAT UP#I mean I know people who repost stuff are probably more likely to be lazy (since they're already just stealing other people's work)#but this is on another level to a degree that I kinda just have to laugh#anyway!
