Sometimes I feel a bit at odds with LoZ fandom, but only because of how old it is and how much it's constantly changing.

I generally love to engage with the lore, and I love to play with the characters and setting...But good god is it exhausting.

I genuinely feel like my exposure to OOT and WW early on as my only point of reference for years have greatly shaped the way I look at games as a whole...So at times it can be super frustrating to communicate with fans who jumped on between the SS and BOTW era.

There are unique generational gaps in this fandom that I haven't observed before in other spaces. In part because playing older LoZ titles is just not possible for a large portion of new fans, but also because LoZ has always had a "current" game that doesn't require the player to have knowledge of previous games.

Each game can be a stand alone as much as they can be a piece of a larger picture.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately as totk draws closer and closer. It's impossible not to run into a popular theory or a speculation that I find incredibly misplaced. And even harder to remember that the basis for these theories comes from the lack of exposure to the rest of the series.

I feel like SS takes up waaaay too much space when it comes to current lore. But also when it's one of the only other newer LoZ games playable on modern consoles for the last 10+ years, it's only natural that it would.

HD remakes and reboots are great, Nintendo needs to be releasing the entire LoZ franchise for switch like yesterday.

I see so many ppl talk about Ganondorf incorrectly or from a post SS point of reference...but really I am just begging y'all to play WW....preferably immediately after OOT as a sequel if you can. (not TP, because he really was 2 dimensional and bland in that game. Even if he is daddy to me.)

#i have gripes #and they're mostly aimed at nintendo for being a 200 year old company #and knowing how to create scarcity so they can cash in years later to resell a 30 year old game for fullprice #why can't u be one of my foolish american companies and release wind waker on every console for over a decade #because girl when its good i will shell out #i say this as the freak who owns....too many copies of skyrim on every platform

Trying to watch 999 let’s plays is such hell to me - NO ONE PLAYS THE GAME RIGHT just shutupshutupshutupshutup and play the game!! Stop trying to make jokes!!!!

I’m too autistic for this, I cannot bear hearing let’s players doing their own voice acting when I adore the game’s VAs too much. Everyone always fucks up Santa’s and Lotus’s voices especially.

I understand the draw of Let’s Plays are largely the people playing them who have gained their own following, but as someone who just loves the game I don’t wanna hear ur stupid banter 💥💥💥 play the game and be intrigued but not TOO intrigued because give it a fuckin minute it’ll explain what’s going on 🙄‼️

#zero escape #999 #my opinion is that the let’s plays that are alright are half-blind play thrus where one person is knowledgeable about everything #and can keep the blind one on track and properly guide their curiousity #I also lose my MIND when people get stuck on the puzzles on this ridiculously easy game #(<- says the person who has played it numerous times and knows all the solutions by heart)#like you IDIOT just do THIS #(<- also the person who still has to look up the answer to the box puzzle behind door 6)#and don’t get me started on when the LPers hate Lotus #don’t get me wrong - disliking her especially when u get to the hospital room is Good and Correct as it’s what the writing is leading you to #but some LPers get so misogynistic about it I have to immediately tap out cuz its too much #also another reason why I don’t like when they don’t use the in-game voice acting #is cuz so many people play Junpei as Basic Anime Protag when Evan Smith’s voice acting gives him SO much character #and Junpei is my favorite >:(#I have many more gripes but that’s enough for now #I just want everyone to experience how great this game is but ONLY in the way I LIKE #I know I sound so whiny and entitled but please tell me someone else relates #the urge I get to just make a whole channel dedicated to 999 play thrus where I just play the game again and again with a different friend #would they all be identical to each other because I would be directing them all the same?#yes. but what greater autistic joy is that (for me)#I never thought the Joseph Anderson streams would be my favorite playthrus cuz I hated them too at first #but his dynamic with chat and consistent amusement and enjoyment of the game is very nice and soothing

i know mccc can expand household size (at the expense of not being able to edit all the sims in cas) but i wish the games default household size could go up to like 10 or 12

#eight just doesn't seem like a lot to me? esp if you play with large households #idk i'm just griping because when i get to the generation where my sims need to live in a commune #depending on if there are two parents or not and how many kids there are i'll only be able to have like 3 or 4 other sims living there #which is... not enough for a commune lol #it would be kind of cool if you could set the household size in the settings #there's a lot more customization i wish this game had :/#dl

#honestly my BIGGEST gripe with this game #is that so many npcs - even ones you absolutely HAD to interact with in botw #- talk to you as if you've never met them before #you go to hateno and everyone's like 'hey strange man'#you go to your house and there's a fucking cleaner in there going 'i am keeping it nice for zelda'#and i'm like. The games makes it clear Aversa did nothing wrong, that doesn't change that the writing of Aversa is inherently racist.

Chrom and Robin can kill all the ugly evil brown men as they want, but the lone sexy brown woman has to be a brainwashed victim they need to save by killing the ugly brown men holding her prisoner. There's no way she could care them or resist the manliness of Chrom and Robin.

They even reveal she was originally lighter skinned before Validar in the card game, just like with Cia in Hyrule warriors.

TLDR: Aversa's writing is racist

it still really grates at me that the best source of trauma and sympathy for so many of the f4 companions is just a fridged nuclear family. everyone's wife and kids are dead. there are seriously better and more creative ways to write a backstory than my wife is dead ): what the fuck ever this is f4 mine is too

#the heart #fo4posting #not even to mention the crime of giving the sole survivor a spouse and child the player's supposed to care about. and doing it so shittily #that it's a regular joke that everyone does everything BUT save shaun. it's just so constricting and what if i wanted to be a gay man??#there's not even an interesting way to shake up the narrative by being like well maybe my marriage wasn't that great #it's all just so limiting #i just have so many gripes about this game it's such a huge downgrade from new vegas.
