Mie, Iâm begging for some Jean college au bf hcs - im literally so down bad for this man and the way you write men is just đ€đ»đ€đ»đ€đ»
Absolutely, not a problem đ I saved this ask as a draft a while ago when you sent it, sorry for just now getting to it. Anyway, I love Jean with my whole heart, best boy, best boyfriend <33
King of forehead kisses, and not even just because of his height in comparison to yours; he just likes it. He likes the feeling of pressing his lips against your skin, and making you feel safe.
Brings you tea or coffee however you like it every day without fail. If he can get it to you in the morning before work/school then heâll do that, if not heâll meet you some time in the middle of the day to drop it off. Your own personal courier just for drinks.
He⊠has a thing for long(er) nails. He loves the feeling of them against his skin, even if youâre not scratching to apply pressureâjust you holding his hand them grazing his skin is enough for him.
That being said, he will pay for you to get your nails done. Actually, heâll pay for⊠almost anything you want, but the nails benefit him as much as they do you so feel free to ball out.
He never blowdries his hair because he doesnât... know how to do the back of it. You did it for him once and he hasnât stopped thinking about it since, but heâs also too embarrassed to ask you to do/style it again.
On the subject of hair, he does do his best to style it and take care of it, but heâs a sucker whenever you play with it. Sometimes he feigns like youâre messing up all his hard work, but heâll literally crane his head into your touch. He loves it.Â
The first time he lays on top of you and you run your hands through his hair... top 10 most euphoric moments of his life. He tries to fight off the sleep threatening to take over him, but itâs futile. Give it 15 minutes at most before heâs knocked out like a baby.Â
Dogs love him. Anytime youâre in a park or just taking a walk and thereâs a dog around, itâll come up to him and he looks adorable leaning down to pet it. He loves dogs, too! So heâs always happy to stop and pet them. Heâd be a 10/10 dog dad.Â
Has your name saved in his phone with two hearts at the end. Do not point it out.
Loves taking pictures together and if you guys are on a date, heâll ask someone to get a picture for him. He just likes having them to look back on (and to send to his mom, later).
He doesnât mind painting classes or videos or tutorials, but he hates paint by numbers kits. He claims that they have no sense of color theory and that it takes the originality and fun out of painting. Not to mention the quality of the paints isnât great to begin with; all of which he takes very seriously.
Itâs pretty cute actually, to see him get worked up over the paint kits. He claims that painting and drawing isnât even something he takes âthat seriously,â itâs just a hobby for him (one heâs insanely good at); but in moments like these, you can tell that heâs way more into art and art theory and history than he lets on.Â
Huge movie guy, from animated movies to martial arts movies, Jean is usually willingly to give anything a watch at least once. When heâs high, he can go on about his favorite directors and art styles and movie details for hours if you donât stop him. Itâs super cute. Just donât bring up Moana, because heâll start crying.Â
Arm around the shoulder kind of boyfriend for sure. Itâs a casual way of keeping you near him and letting everyone know that you guys are together. Plus it allows for him to easily pull you into him for a quick forehead kiss when needed.
Listen. If you hug his arm, heâs on cloud nine. He tries to be nonchalant about it but heâs about three seconds away from his eyes rolling back in his head it feels that good to him. Bonus if you lean your head on his bicep a littleâthen heâs a goner.
He takes his bagels very seriously and believes that both you and him deserve nothing but the best quality bagels. Heâll grumble if a bakery gives you guys a less than favorable one and make a note that taking the long route to get to his favorite place is much more worth it.
Always makes you walk on the side furthest from the cars. If he notices youâre not, heâll just shuffle behind you until heâs shouldering the street and youâre on the inside.Â
He grew up on a kind of modern ranch situation; not exactly all the way in the countryside, but not isolate from the city, either. Because of this, he knows how to ride horses, take care of smaller farm animals, tend to plants, and yes he knows how to use a lasso. You wouldnât know any of that though, because he never ever talks about it. The only way you find out is when he takes you to visit his momâs house for the first time, and she asks him for a hand around the place.Â
(Heâs got a cowboy hat, too, but refuses to put it on. He got it when he was, like, nine, okay, leave him alone).Â
When he thinks you look tired, heâll wrap his arms around your shoulders to hug you. Itâs usually followed up with a kiss to your head, and a promise that you guys will go home soon and get food on the way.Â
Heâs a really good cook. He just understands and flavors and pairings really well, so he doesnât need a recipe to make something that tastes good; he just kind of knows what to add to get the balance heâs looking for.Â
Naturally, heâll cook for you. Especially if he finds out that you havenât eaten all day/in a long time. He doesnât care if itâs 11pm and it might seem excessive to make steak and potatoes with a side salad at this hour, heâs gonna do it to make sure you eat, and you are going to sit there and watch.Â
He also bakes pretty well, though he isnât as experimental with his baking as he is with his cooking. He usually sticks to what he knows, and itâs not cupcakes and brownies and cakes; heâs better at croissants, and cheesecakes, and canelĂ©s.Â
Dating Jean means getting along with his friends. If you guys didnât know each other before you started dating, be prepared to be ambushed by Connie and Sasha (after Jean stops hiding you away and gives them the green light lmfao). Neither of them waste time with the small talk and formalities; straight into mini golfing and beer pong. They make you feel welcome right away.
Sasha always teases that youâre too good for Jean, and that she might just steal you away for herself some day. Sasha is also Jeanâs main confidant, so she really knows just how much he loves you, and yeah, she teases him for being lovesick, but really sheâs happy for Jean. And proud of him for facing his feelings like this.Â
Connie adores you, and you know he trusts you when he starts going to you for advice/help. Could be anything from schoolwork, to what color he should get his new shoes in. Heâs also the one who, surprisingly, you have the sentimental talks with about your relationship with Jean. Itâs easy to overlook, but Connie loves Jean, and heâs come to love you too; he just wants you both to be happy, so heâs there to listen when you need it.Â
Jean waits outside of your classroom after youâve had a test or presentation, usually with a drink or a snack, or the promise of taking you out as a treat. Always tells you heâs proud of you, and is there to comfort you if you think you didnât do too well.Â
He does not shut up about whatever major youâre in. It could be the same as his; it could be the complete opposite as his. He thinks itâs so sick that youâre doing it, you make it look cooler, you make it look better, and heâs certain youâre the smartest person in your program.Â
Heâs pretty serious about his studies, too, so heâs always down to study with you in the library whenever youâre both free. More often than not, he shows up after you, usually with food or extra chargers. He greets you with a kiss on the forehead, and asks you how you are while massaging your shoulders gently. If itâs been a while since you took a break, thatâs the first item on the list, after that, he gets to work and stays with you until youâre ready to go, even if he doesnât have as much work to do.Â
He always sits across from you. This goes for when youâre in the library, or out to eat at a restaurant; Jean loves sitting across from you. He gets to see your face the best that way, and he adores looking into your eyes when you talk.Â
Heâs not... not a morning person. Heâs not up at 6am ready to grind, but he wakes up before noon; letâs say 10am is his happy medium. That being said, if you wake up before him, regardless of the time, thereâs a 9/10 chance heâll lay on your back and tell you to hush so you guys can sleep for 10 more minutes.Â
If youâre (close) friends with Eren, Mikasa, and Armin, Jean is... happy youâve got people to rely on, but, âOf all people on the planet, you put your trust in Jaeger?â He acts so bitter (because he is), but deep down inside, heâs glad you have Eren to rely on if you need to.Â
(Also, you have to humble him and remind him that he and Eren arenât all that different. If you like him, why wouldnât you get along with Eren, bye).Â
Turns out though, that itâs not Eren who threatens to beat him up if he breaks your heart. Itâs not even Mikasa, although, her threat goes without saying; itâs Armin heâs terrified of.
The last time Armin hated someone, it was this guy in your program, who happened to share a few mutual classes with him, too. Jean never knew the full story, just that heâs pretty sure that kid dropped out the following semester.Â
If you have a job on campus, Jean usually doesnât show up while youâre working (knowing how embarrassed he would be if you did that to him), unless you work the night shift and itâs dead. Connie, however, does show up; usually in some kind of crisis (âPlease help me, I donât know what the fuck APA formatting is and this is due tonight, please, please, please!!â). Your coworkers actually thought Connie was your boyfriend for a minute. Thatâs when Jean starts showing up more lmfao.
He makes it a point to go on a scheduled, night out, kind of date at least twice a month. He knows life gets busy with school and work and midterms, but he always makes sure you both set side a time to take a well-deserved break and be with each other.Â
Heâs the romantic type, so these dates are pretty swoon worthy, too. Drive-in movies, nice dinners, classy art exhibits, Jean plans it all. On that note, he really likes planning dates; he just doesnât like talking about them with his friends beforehand.Â
All in all, very romantic, very precious boyfriend. Heâs always thinking about you, what you need, and how he can help you out. Youâre one of his main priorities, and he just wants to treat you right.Â

Missing (4/?)
Summary: Your next door neighbor, Luke Patterson (a.k.a. your longtime crush) has gone missing, and you think you could help finding him.
Word count: 2.3k
Warnings: None!
Part 5
âą
As soon as you both finished eating, she took you to his room.
It felt weird to you to see the rest of the room you couldnât visualize from your window. You could finally see some furniture and more posters.
âI promise I wonât go off limits, Mrs. Patterson.â
âOh, you donât have to worry. As I said, this is a pretty special situation. Just call me if you need anything.â
That took you off guard. You didnât actually think she would leave you by yourself.
âThank you, again.â You said before she left.
You looked around for a moment, and giggled.
You couldnât believe you were there. You made it.
You looked at your window room from there, and couldnât help but think that just a few hours ago, you were there trying to figure out how to get to Lukeâs room. Max would not believe this.
You started going through some notebooks found on a desk. Maybe one of those had some information about the band. But you didnât find anything relevant. If there was something, you couldnât really tell. He had horrible handwriting. You did notice signatures from the other band members. Mostly Alex and Reggieâs, but nothing else.
You moved on to check the desk drawers. You found a polaroid picture. He was there, with three other boys.
You opened your eyes wide. The band. They had to be the rest of the band. Of course, you didnât know for sure, but you had a good feeling. You grabbed the picture. You would ask Mrs. Patterson if you could take it with you.
You then stood in front of his closet, thinking whether or not to go through it too. You decided to open it and give it a quick glance. Not touching anything, just looking at it.
And so you did.
You opened it and noticed that it was practically empty. A couple of jackets were hanging inside and a single flannel shirt. But you thought it was impossible for him to take every piece of clothing he owned. If he ran away on his bike, as his mom told yours, than he mustâve taken a simple backpack with him. Something easy to carry.
Just to take away the doubt, you checked the drawers and indeed, there were several shirts and pants in there, perfectly folded. You closed those and finally went up to that one poster you were so familiar with at this point. But there really wasnât any more information besides the bandâs name.
You then checked his night stand and, besides a lamp, the only thing that you found was a guitar pick. It was white, and it had the letters SC written on black. You took it and then, giving the room a last look, you left to meet Mrs. Patterson in the living room. You showed her the polaroid you found and told her that you suspected they could be Lukeâs bandmates. You asked if you could take it and she said yes.
âI also found this guitar pick? I think he mightâve forgotten when he... left. I just thought that maybe I could take it with me just so when I find him I can give it back.â
You noticed the conviction in your voice, and by the sweet smile Mrs. Patterson gave you, you could tell she did too.
âOf course. Take it.â
âThank you.â
Before leaving, you and Emily ate a couple of the cookies she baked while you were up in Lukeâs room.
âTake care.â You said to her on the door, when she gave you a hug.
âYou too, sweetie.â
âI promise to come visit you more often.â
âIâll be waiting for you. I repeat, youâre always welcome.â
âThank you.â
âThank you, too.â You both released from the hug and you were already walking away when she called you again.
âY/N?â
âYeah?â You turned to see her.
âYouâre a really nice girl. I think you and Luke would get along perfectly.â
âą
Tamra got home first, as usual, and she parked her car in the garage. As you thought she would. Which was the reason that made you leave her a note on the fridge. You decided to wait for Max in front of his house, on his steps.
His mom, Mrs. Miers, invited you to come inside but you told her you would just wait for Max there. She tried to convince you otherwise but you insisted, so she asked you to at least accept a glass of lemonade.
You emptied the glass just when Max was arriving.
âHey! How did it go?â You rapidly got up on your feet and walked to him.
âWell, hello, Iâm fine, thanks.â He rolled his eyes.
âHi. So?!â
He sighed. âI did it. I talked to people... kind of.â
âWhat do you mean kind of?â
âWell... I asked my friend Ian to do the talking. I went with him, but he was the one doing the questions.â
âBut you got information?â
âYes- Ow!â
You squealed and hugged him, just like you did that morning.
âHey, calm down, itâs nothing much, really...â
âIt doesnât matter. You got something, Iâm so proud of you!â
âDonât exaggerate.â He rolled his eyes, but smiled.
âI got something too, actually.â
âLetâs go inside.â
Max guided you to his living room, inside his house.
âYou go first.â He said and you obeyed, since your information wasnât much relevant.
âSo first of all, I got into Lukeâs room.â
âWhat?! Without asking?!â
âObviously.â You said sarcastically and rolled your eyes. âObviously not. I had lunch with Mrs. Patterson at her house today. We were just talking and I asked her if I could go check it out and she said yes... But I didnât get much. Just this picture... I was wondering if you recognize them.â
He took the polaroid. âYes! They are the guys. This is Reggie, Alex and Bobby.â
After all these days, you could finally give those names some faces.
âGreat! Besides that, there werenât any other clues. So what about you? What did you find out?â
You decided to not tell him about the guitar pick. It was something you would save for yourself.
âThey practice at Bobbyâs garage.â
âDo you know where he lives?â
âWell... no. Look, we were trying to be subtle since Bobby, Alex and Reggie went to school today. I honestly think they might know where Luke is. But they wouldnât say anything. Today at school they were called by the principal. We supposed it was to ask them about Luke... My point is, we tried not to ask too personal questions in case they found out what we were doing.â
You wanted to protest but of course, Max had a point. If they were covering Luke, they were going to do anything to keep his location a secret.
âBut I thought you guys werenât classmates. You and the other guys.â
âWe arenât. Ian is. I mean, Ian has french with them.â
You nodded slowly.
âOh, we also found out Amyâs mom is friends with Alexâs mom? From some pilates class... maybe it was yoga. I donât know.â
âAmy? Amy our neighbor? That Amy?â
Max chuckled. âYeah. Amy Campbell. Ian was actually the one who provided me that information. He and Amyâs older brother go to karate together.â
âTomorrow is Amyâs birthday party! Do you think... Alex might go?â
âI doubt it. As far as Ian told me, Amy and Brandon never actually got to meet Alex... Youâre going to Amyâs party?â
âYeah. I already told her I would. You?â
âI told her I wouldnât.â
âMax!â
âWhat? I donât wanna go. At parties I usually just sit all night, eat and sing if I know the songs.â
âCome on, letâs gooo.â You insisted. âThis isnât a normal party, itâs a pool party!â
âWhy do you want me to go? Youâll probably just leave me on my own anyways to talk to the rest.â
You rolled your eyes. âDonât play the victim. Iâll drag you with me everywhere okay? Come on, what if Alex shows up after all? We donât know, this could be good! Even if nothing happens, then it could be fun to distract ourselves for a bit. Please.â
He sighed and stared at you for a second before groaning. âFine, fine. Iâll go.â
âYay! I promise itâll be worth it.â
You then said goodbye and went to your house.
After saying hi to your family, you rapidly went up to your room to get ready for your dance class.
âHow was everything today, honey?â
Your mom asked you, later at dinner.
âI called Mrs. Patterson a while ago and she was so happy you went. She told me you two had fun together.â
You smiled. âWe did. Iâm planning on visiting her more often.â
âThatâs a great idea.â She smiled back.
âDo you girls have any plans this weekend?â Your dad asked.
âI actually... Wanted to ask you something.â Tamra asked, and she seemed nervous. Which was rare to see.
âSure baby, what is it?â Your mom said.
âWhat do you guys think if I bring Tyler for dinner, on Sunday?â
You heard how your dad dropped his fork and knife on his plate, while your mom clapped and you looked at your sister, surprised.
âReally? Is it that official?â You asked.
âShut up.â
Tamra never actually brought any of her boyfriends to the house, for some reason. You were the only one that met them since they usually were guys from school. One time, she even dated a guy from your dance studio, who was her age.
This time, though, you never met him. You only knew he existed because she announced it to all of you at dinner once.
âOh, Tamra! Weâre so glad to finally meet him! I am so excited! What should I cook?â
âThis counts as a special occasion, so we need dessert. Does he like cheesecake?â You said, excited too.
âAre you sure this is a good idea?â
âDad!â
âDavid!â
You, Tamra and your mom complained at the same time.
âIâm just saying, honey, arenât you too young for boyfriends?â
You rolled your eyes. âDad, sheâs eighteen. Leave her alone.â
âWell, sheâs still my daughter. I think I have a say on this.â
âWeâre discussing this later.â Your mom stopped. She faced you. âWhat about you, Y/N, do you have any other plans?â
âActually, yes. Tomorrow is Amyâs birthday party. Itâs a pool party. I was wondering if I could go?â
âI donât see why not.â She looked at your father and he nodded approvingly too.
You clapped. âPerfect! Thank you.â
Later in your room, you took the polaroid and the guitar pick and checked them carefully. You saved them in your night stand before leaving to dance.
Luke was smiling in that picture, just like in any other you had the opportunity to see at his house.
You sighed. You really hoped he was okay.
The idea of Bobby, Alex and Reggie knowing where he is, really made you hopeful.
âHeyâ Someone said, entering your room.
You knew it was Tamra way before you looked up to see her. She never knocks, so it was easy to tell when it was her coming to your room.
âHeyâ You smiled at her. âDo you need anything?â
âNo, I just... I came to tell you what happened.â
After you came up to your room, you knew Tamra stayed longer because your dad wanted to talk to her.
She sat on your bed, next to you.
âWhat did dad tell you?â You asked.
âOh, you know. He started with this big speech about growing up, and that I should be careful, and stuff like that. But then he started started being emotional and said that he was afraid of me leaving the house or change my plans for college and other stuff.â
You frowned and then giggled. âHeâs so dramatic.â
âI know. I wonât throw away everything Iâve planned for years just for a boy Iâve been dating for two months.â
âNot any boy, I can see.â
She rolled her eyes but blushed. âAnyways, dad also said he was happy for me and that I would always be his baby.â She said like bragging, with a shrug.
It was your turn to roll your eyes. âChildish. Now, tell me, where is this Tyler from, anyways?â
âI met him at The Drop.â
It was a caffe near your dance studio. It had a mini library with books you could read while enjoying any kind of drink or food. You two would go there after class sometimes, or when your classes arenât too long, she would wait for you there.
âIt was a few weeks before we moved. You actually know him. Heâs the barista.â
âWait, that Tyler?! Are you serious?!â
You knew something was going on. He would always give dreamy looks to your sister and would talk different to her. You told her so, every time you noticed but she would just wave it off saying you were just imagining things.
âWhy didnât you tell me before?â You said, a little hurt.
âI donât know. Things were different with him. I was... scared. Of you not liking him, or something.â She admitted. And you knew that was a big deal. Just by the fact that she was showing her vulnerability, (which she barely ever showed to anyone), you knew she felt something strong for this guy.
âReally?â You asked, a little confused and flattered.
âYeah. Iâm actually terrified now. For the dinner. I really want you all to like him.â
âIâm sure we will.â You assured her. âTamra Iâm really, really happy for you.â
She smiled and hugged you. Tamra was almost never affectionate either, but when she was, you really appreciate it.
She stayed a little longer with you and you two chatted for a while until she went to bed and left you alone with the polaroid and the guitar pick again.
You really hoped you could get to something this weekend.

Cutie Reviews: Sakuraco July 21
Itâs so hard to focus on work in Summer, between the heat and wanting to get out to enjoy myself (and focus on getting things back in shape around here, and appointments) I havenât felt much motivation lately. I had planned on working on this during the weekend, but for some reason things were acting weird and I couldnât.
After this review, Iâll be posting my GachaGacha July box, and the August Sakuraco. As long as things keep working right, itâll hopefully be within the next few days.
âNaturally the cool climate of Japanâs most northern island, Hokkaido, makes it perfect for a summer getaway. Famed for its beautiful lavender fields and unforgettable cuisine - itâs a wonderland for summer discovery.â
For this month the booklet talks about Hokkaido and one of its food makers, Hokushin. Along with Kibi Dango, Yubari Melon, and Hokkaidoâs beautiful lavender.
Peach Matcha Tea
Sorry, no pic for this one, but there are more below!
This tea is the perfect way to shoo out the summer fatigue, with a mix between the acidic and fruity peach and the smooth bitterness of matcha. It can be served hot or cold, and because I was feeling adventurous and usually donât make iced tea (unless its lemon that is) I decided to try that. Iâm very glad I did because it tasted wonderful :3 you get the exact lightness of peach with a hint of matcha in the background, and it was such a pretty light green color~
Rum Raisin & Melon Soft Sand
(Our kitchen accessory for this month is the plate you see the sweets on.)
The sable cookie beloved by sweets lovers who like raisins (like me, but not my mom :P), itâs very soft and chewy, with two types of raisins dipped in rum and then baked to a light gold.
You know, Iâve never tried anything rum raisin before, so this was a bit exciting. Itâs very yummy and I liked it since it wasnât overly filled with them. i like raisins but Iâm not in love with them, and as a house with cats, we pretty much forbid raisins here. I tend to worry anytime we get some, or when the neighbor bakes raisin cookies.Â
- - - -
Our next item is the first example of the melon-themed goods in the box, composed of two thin monaka wafers with a fun, leafy design and text, and filled with a layer of melon cream. Since you canât see it in the picture, the cream was light green colored, like a honeydew. Itâs the only melon thing in the box this color, everything else was orange, so it was a little bit disorienting to see.
Soft sand it isnât, itâs very crispy-crunchy, but the cream inside is soft and sweet. It tasted a lot like honeydew.
Grilled Corn Senbei & Butter Mochi Senbei
Senbei are crispy, light, airy rice snacks that come in a wide variety of flavors. If youâve been on this blog before then youâll recognize them right away. The smaller, yellower senbei is made from sweetcorn grown in Hokkaido and roasted with soy sauce x3 I love Japanese corn snacks, and their soy sauce, so this was the best of both worlds!
Both were produced by the same company, Iwatsuka Confectionary located in Niigata.
- - - - -
Our other senbei, the bigger, milky-looking one was made from powdered buttermilk, honey, regular milk, and kinako (a sweet roasted soybean powder) to create a sweet partner for the other one.
Okina Dorayaki & Hearty Age Mochi
Weâve all seen Dorayaki on this blog before, I honestly have nothing new or interesting to say about it. Our other snack is a bit more exciting though, fried little pieces of rice made from three types of natural salt and kelp. Their savory flavor will stand out against all the sweetness in the box.
I enjoyed the snack, but it has a sort-of grease flavor that I didnât find as pleasant as eating it. It left a residue/texture in my mouth that I didnât like.
Kibi Dango & Milk Mochi
Oh boy, here we go again with two matching snacks :D also produced by the same company, Tengudo takarabune in Hokkaido. Not only that, but now that I know the clear wrapping is an edible product known as oblaat, itâs a bit embarrassing not to have known that sooner. . .
Anyway, dango and mochi are a lot a like, if you didnât know that already. Especially these types, which share about the same color, texture, etc. You can eat it whole or cut it into squares, both are guaranteed to a chewy delight~
The smaller of the two, the kibi dango was a bit on the generic sweet side, but I really like it. The larger, milk mochi on the other hand tastes very delicious, like a sweetened, creamy milk. It reminded me a lot of a cow tail, a chewy caramel candy with milk cream inside.
Yubari Melon Cream Sandwich Cookies & Milk Cheesecake
And weâre back to melon, this time itâs the delicious Yubari Melon. Which was born in Yubari, Hokkaido in 1957, when farmers cross-bred them trying to preserve their way of life. At their highest quality they are considered to be a very precious, luxurious gift representing a new start, such as marriage or moving into a new home. Some come out so well that they can even be auctioned and can be sold for a really high price!
This sandwich consists of two butter-scented galette cookies with a thick layer of melon cream on the inside, with a speckling of small melon pieces. The cookie was a bit on the harder side, but the cream was lightly sweet and very fluffy~
- - - - -
I was very excited about this next one for 2 reasons: cheesecake is my most favorite food, and because look at it, itâs a bready-cake with actual cheese looking pieces in it! I love cheese, and cake, so I figured either way itâd be a win-win!
A soft, spongy milk cake with little hunks of cheese mixed into the dough to create a balance of sweet richness. The cheese bits confused me a little initially, because they taste like actual cheese pieces, rather then a sweet creamy cheese like one might expect. It was very good though, Iâd highly recommend it if you ever see it. Iâd love for the box to include more bready/cake items like this x3
Yubari Melon Jelly & Melon Mochi
Weâre down to our last 2 items of the box. First up is this fun-looking jelly made from Yubari Melon... which as sad as it makes me to say, I actually really didnât like it. I love melon and all, but for some strange, bizarre reason it tasted like tomato. I have no idea why, but thatâs immediately what my mind kept coming up with, and if youâre new to this blog, I donât like tomatoes. Ketchup is fine, tomato-flavored vegetable chips are fine, but donât ask me to eat an actual tomato (which is funny because my dad loves them). The texture reminded me so much of an actual tomato that I couldnât even finish it.
- - - -
This particular mochi is made from a melon puree, with white chocolate cream inside.
Thankfully, this item fared much better. It was probably in my top 3 for favorites of the box for its amazing cantaloupe flavor that I look forward to eating every summer~
Opinions
Content - 5 out of 5. The only item I didnât like was the jelly, but I feel like other people probably liked it, and it was still really fun to try. I even liked the tea, which is rare, and the little plate serving piece we got was cute too.
Theme: 5 out of 5. Iâm not really sure how Hokkaido is in the summer, but this box definitely felt summery to me. It was very refreshing, the flavors really did a good job of picking me up whenever I was trying/finishing them.
Total Rank: 10 out of 10 Cuties. I liked this box a lot more then the previous box, Iâm very excited for the August box, which oddly enough I got very early (about a week ago now I think). I looked through it but Iâve patiently been waiting to really explore it.

I got sick
and other adventures.
I spent last Thursday and Friday studying Japanese and packing for our weekend at my guyâs familyâs place. We left on Friday afternoon after picking up his brother from the bus station. We were there at 6pm -ish and had to help out with some last minute preparations. We got to meet my guyâs sisterâs new Italian boyfriend and he was really nice. I got to bake a cheesecake with the duo, which was super entertaining. It was good to see my guyâs whole family again for the first time since probably last summer.
Saturday morning was pretty busy. I woke up at 9 to send off my guyâs sister to her graduation, and then we had to set tables, iron out table cloths, tidy up the place and lock up their other cat to avoid disasters with food. The guests started coming after 1pm and we put on our fancy party clothes. There were a lot of people crammed in the ground floor of their house and it was super cold outside. Windows were open and we had coffee on the balcony. Since there was a constant draft and I got a lot of cold air I developed one of the worst throat aches of my life. I didnât really have much to do at the party since I couldnât find people to talk to so I escaped upstairs to play ACNL and landscape by guyâs town Exploria. He paid me golden roses to help him out with his townâs layout. In the evening me and my guy drove back listening to my playlist on his phone and partying it up in the car.
On Sunday my mum and I went shopping for some flowers. She helped me wash my balcony and we planted some pansies and some other flowers. We also drove to the cottage to plant some stuff over there. Mum found a rug that she washed and brought with me to my balcony. We also picked up an old bench from home and brought it up. Then we went upstairs and cleaned my storage space in the attic carrying down all kinds of stuff that needed to go to my guyâs cottage a few years ago. So now I forced him to take that stuff over and I have a pretty well organized storage space thatâs accessible and doesnât have renovation supplies crammed in the front so that the back is just a bunch of wasted space. Yay! Super productive. In the evening I helped my guy make pizza and watched Mischacrossingâs ACNL stream.
On Monday I woke up at like 7:30 thinking Iâd die of my throat ache. I was sure it was a serious infection but I guess it was just dry and achey since it got a bit better as I had something warm to drink. I couldnât really swallow any solid foods though. I had some painkillers, tea and cough drops and hoped for the best. I spent the day working on my thesis and JLPT.
Tuesday was worse. I woke up super early again because of the throatache, and decided Iâd go to the office early and spend the rest of the day taking it easy. As I walked to the office I felt like I was about to pass out and felt miserable. However as I worked on stuff and had some tea the sun came out and I started feeling better. I even had lunch with a colleague and managed to eat solid foods. My dad called and invited me for some rollerblading (inline skating?) and I could not resist even though I was clearly sick. It was just too much fun putting on my skates and slowly and peacefully making my way around the lake in the warm sunny summer. XC skiing has helped my inline skating technique a bunch and it was surprisingly easy considering I barely went last summer. Dad dropped me off at the grocery store. I bought a root of ginger, bananas, carrots, a sweet potato, cream cheese, cookies and white chocolate, and came to the apartment to make a sweet potato, carrot and ginger soup (sick people food) and a gelatine-free cheesecake with lemon and ginger in the filling.
I suffered from all the activities again the following night. I kept waking up every two hours and barely caught any sleep. Also my throatache turned into a dry and irritating cough thatâs about to destroy me... Anyway despite all that me and my friend went for the first photoshoot of our project on Wednesday and it was a lot of fun. I practiced using Canonâs photo editing software and working with the raw files so the results should be a lot better than just adjusting brightness and contrast on photoshop. Some of the photos did turn out pretty gorgeous and I canât wait to edit them.â„ I still have a lot to learn about manual focus though since a lot of the pictures were really out of focus. We had some snacks inbetween our photoshoot, and coming back dad made us some super delicious hamburgers. â„ We also had some of my delicious cheesecake that turned out surprisingly well seeing as I had super random amounts of all the ingredients and added the ginger just because I felt like it. It was a beautiful summer day photoshooting and spending time with my family. âŒ
My friend came over and stayed the night. We played ME2 until about 1:30am and I was feeling the feverish headache. Last night wasnât great either and I woke up several times before 9am. I felt awful again and I might straight up have a fever. Anyway I had some painkillers and spent today on the sofa as my friend played ME2. She just did Legionâs loyalty and is about to start suicide mission. Iâm excited to get to ME3 with her - and to start MEA both by myself and with her come autumn. I was playing ACNL and reading JLPT stuff while she played. At 5 she had to go meet up with friends. I read some more Japanese, tidied up the place a bit and now Iâm blogging before my guy comes home from work. I was supposed to skype with my Israeli friend tonight but weâll see.
I need to do some work emails early tomorrow morning. Then Iâm going to study Japanese with a friend. Then another friend is coming over to play ACNL with me. In the evening Iâm going to the cottage with mum and dad.â„ Canât wait. My cousins are turning 18 on Saturday so me and dad are probably going to visit them. I really hope my flu lets up enough for me to enjoy the weekend. Iâve been on a constant hot ginger water diet today. I can feel the painkillersâ effect reducing. The muscle aches are coming back. Looks like itâs going to be an evening on the sofa for me. I wish Iâd learn to take it easy when I feel under the weather so that this wouldnât happen and sicknesses wouldnât drag on like this. I just canât seem to be able to justify âtaking it easyâ until I literally canât walk. In any case this week has been a lot of fun so I wouldnât change it.
Oh thatâs right, I got my new phone case on Wednesday. I love having a case since the phone was too big and slippery to comfortably fit into my hand and I kept almost dropping it. Also, my ACNL dress shipped today. I canât wait to dress up as mayor Jelly, I really really hope itâs the right size... The sizing charts were super confusing and hard to figure out.
