Poor Barbatos. I swear the fandom is always gleefully taunting him with his fear of rats. So much of his fan content is rat related lol.

To be honest with you, I think Barbatos would know you were messing with him. That you purposefully chose a movie about a rat that cooks to make him crazy.

So it depends. If Ratatouille was genuinely like your favorite movie prior to meeting Barb, he would suffer through it for you. I don't think it'd bother him too much considering it's animated and fictional. If he was dealing with actual rats in his actual kitchen, well, that's a different story.

But if you just brought it to movie date night to deliberately get a reaction from him, then you might end up in trouble.

Depending on the type of relationship he has with you, at this point you could end up completely forgetting about movie night altogether. Because if you're being a troublemaker on purpose, he's going to take that as a sign that you need some attention. Things could quickly escalate into sexy punishment territory if you get what I mean.

But if you're not quite there yet with him and he sees that you're just kinda playing a prank on him, he'll probably smile indulgently and tell you that he would love to watch the animated rat movie with you. Then he'll distract you with kisses through the whole thing because who wants to watch rats cooking? Not him.

something something while i fundamentally believe that yes, people should be compensated for the creative labor that they put into making templates / graphics / etc, it leaves me with an icky feeling knowing that in order to be “popular” and increase your chances of people wanting to interact with you, you must meet Aesthetic Demands™, which --- if you’re lucky --- you can use a template for, but i’ve seen google doc and carrd templates costing upwards of $15 a piece. or you can spend hours tinkering and learning coding and then oop, now you need more money to buy a special pro account for one of theses sites, sorry friend! more monies. oh you’re not able / willing / creatively inclined to spend hours putzing around on photoshop to make your own psd, icons, promos, graphics, gifs, banners, etc.? i’ve seen stuff cost upwards of $50. the amount of people making base icons, screencaps, or even gif hunts has dropped, and again: i’ve seen gif hunts that charge $10+ for people to be able to access. 

should any of this matter when it comes to people writing with you? no, absolutely not. does it? yes. absolutely. and you’d be hard pressed to convince me that someone who does NOT have a custom theme / developed aesthetic / carrd / google doc / formatted icons unique to their blog / icons edited with a psd / etc. does not have a markedly more difficult time being perceived as ✨ Quality ✨  ( even when their writing is incredible ) than someone who has more of the Aesthetic™

in conclusion: yes it is perfectly reasonable and understandable that people would / should want compensation for their time and creative efforts in making templates / graphics / resources / etc. i just wish that we weren’t getting to this weird phase where it feels like being Quality™ is essentially being put behind a paywall. 

I think the 'coffee theory' just over-simplyfies Aziraphale's whole character.

From the beginning, they were built as a flawed being, as human. Their relationship with God and heaven is not just summed up by religious trauma: more than being conditioned to believe that heaven is a good place — they actually want it to be the Right Side™. They want to believe that such a place exists for real, that being an angel means something — that their existance has a purpose, a good one.

It is a naive way of seeing things. A world view in which heaven is Good™, hell is Evil™ and humans are whatever may be in-between. They can't (or don't want to) accept that every single action of all beings falls into a greyish-sort-of moral — never entirely one or another.

That's why they tell Crowley that demons are the bad guys, even if they were proven that it is not that simple more than once. They already knew Crowley wouldn't accept going back to hell because they don't see them as a demon at all (they're in the 'good', afterall). It is easier to simply ignore that Crowley IS, in fact, a fallen angel — taking Crowley with them to heaven just feels natural, since, to Aziraphale, they belong there. They are one of the 'good guys', therefore, they should be in the Upstairs.

Aziraphale's doing what they think is right. They want to save Earth, they want to make heaven good, they want to live in peace with Crowley. To them, going back is the easier way to do all of this, and that's why they accepted it — not just because they were mindcontrolled or whatever.

SILVER BLAZE PART THREE - happy jonkday everyone. one of these days i'll draw a scene that doesn't take place at night

Nico and Percy's dynamic through the series is eternally funny to me, because it's just. like.

Percy's having a constant mental struggle between his fatal flaw of loyalty with a promise he made to Bianca to protect Nico, versus his Big 3 kid desire to maim other Big 3 kids / Poseidon descendant urge to totally maim Nico specifically. He hates Nico so so much. He thinks Nico's annoying and weird at best, and creepy/sketchy when he's older. The only positive thoughts Percy has towards Nico are "He's Bianca's brother and Bianca was my friend and I owe her/He's Hazel's brother and Hazel is my friend and would kill me if I was mean to him," "He's a powerful asset and useful ally (if questionable)," and "He's kinda pathetic and I feel maybe a little bad about it." Percy has multiple occasions throughout the series where he strongly considers - and on one occasionally actually goes through with - throttling Nico.

Meanwhile, Nico is following around Percy like a lost puppy. He explicitly can never bring himself to even dislike anything about Percy no matter how hard he tries. He has a whole bit in BoO where he's mentally going "UGH he's so stupid BUT IT'S ENDEARING HOW DARE HE." He's totally smitten. He's making deals with his dad for Percy. He's making convoluted plans to help Percy stand a chance against Kronos. During the entirety of BoTL it's like he's playing tsundere - "I'm helping NOT PERCY SPECIFICALLY with this quest! Me helping Percy would be SILLY because I DEFINITELY HATE HIM." Then he proceeds to show up to Percy's birthday party to basically ask him on a weird date and spend the entire next book scrambling around trying to help him or protect him or impress him. And Percy could not give less of a shit.

Just. That dynamic is so funny to me. Percy is the founder of the Nico Protection Club in that he's the one they're all protecting Nico from and meanwhile Nico is throwing himself at Percy to the point where the literal god of gay love calls him out on it.

In a another world, Peak of Combat has a plot that involves Time Travel Shenanigans which puts V in one of the Funniest Situations.

Danny and (a recently revived) Jason move into an apartment together, they live right next to each other too.

The thing with this, however, is that the both of them?

They goddamn hate each other.

If murder was not illegal, they would genuinely kill each other. But since it is, they settle for the next best thing, just beating each other up on sight.

At least, until the landlord told them to not fight on their property and if they were to do it out of sight, so they don't scare away any more potential clients.

They've already scared away more than 10.

actually jeff and britta are fucking great together okay. they're both terribly emotionally immature and the definition of toxic. i hate them so much. they base their entire personality on the way others perceive them (britta wants to be seen as good person, jeff wants to be seen as cool) but when push comes to shove they always back each other up. they're both losers and fucking pathetic and they have the two most fragile egos in the whole group. they're absolutely ridiculous, they can never feel compassion or empathy in a natural way and they're actually awful fucking people. i love them so much. i need them to be together forever but in a quarantine sort of situation

I dearly love you, tumblr, but sometimes you're just absolutely exhausting. Not every statement is a personal challenge that needs to be countered aggressively. Sometimes I'm neither being bold nor assuming anything.

i don't normally make posts about things myself but i keep thinking about how the whole point of EW was that the strength you needed didn't come from a god, or a supreme being, or a primal or anything: it all comes from you

your love for this world and your friends and everything that you allow purpose and meaning- that is what gives you the strength to climb to your feet, even when you feel utterly alone at the end of the universe

In Shb we had Ardbert who gave us the strength to take that next step, but in EW we are alone (save for Zenos i guess but this ain't about him). That's why even though I agree that "it was the ancients" is becoming an extremely stale take, I still forgive MotR and the Twelve because it's hammering in EW's theme of being enough to handle what life throws at you without needing to rely on something much larger than yourself

EW's plot- and even the Omicron quests -point to the fact that dynamis alone does nothing. It has to be moved to action by feelings/emotions for it to work. As N-7000 says, "all [dynamis] requires is for us to ask "what if?""

The Warrior of Light is an imperfect being. More talented than most, but imperfect yet. EW does not make you a god. It shows that change can be wrought by anyone, at any time. You need not do it alone: there are others willing to come to your aid. But when you are alone, at the end of your rope, facing insurmountable odds: the strength you need can only come from within.

Chilchuck analysis speedrun: As a hardworking half-foot who grew up poor and discriminated against and had his gullibility taken advantage of multiple times in his early adventuring days, Chilchuck thinks optimism is a dangerous flaw. He’s stressed and strict all the time because his job is noticing details like traps that could get everyone killed before anyone knows it, he takes the lives of everyone to be on his shoulders, and with the way he speaks about it that probably partly reflects how he felt about taking it upon himself to provide for his family too. His life’s always been pretty centered around work and has become even moreso now that his wife left and everyone is independent, and due to past events he’s very iffy with bonding with coworkers. He thinks feelings and job are a disaster mix. Like with his wife or with parties hiring him as sacrifice, being open or having good faith is vulnerability which can get you hurt, so he processes and shows all his stress as anger instead of worry. Doing strict dieting probably isn’t helping the irritability what with hunger, and on top of being a hunger suppressant alcohol might be the main stress reliever he has.
