So I love that scene with Jackson and Madi and I’m glad that FINALLY someone called out what Bellamy did (in getting Madi to take the Flame) as wrong. No to mention Jackson being the one to do it makes total sense.
But.
Is anyone ever going to acknowledge that Clarke (and Bellamy, and Monty by association) actually did something bad to make “saving Clarke” a necessity?
Clarke wasn’t some innocent, packed off to prison and awaiting execution because Blodreina was bored.
Clarke (and Bellamy, and Monty by association) murdered Cooper in cold blood. They actively chose to end her life as a move in their game against Octavia. They didn’t have to do it. They could have chosen other ways- such as the “hey, how about we TALK to Octavia and see why she’s like this” move that I’ve always espoused but no one did, or “actually Madi’s only 12 and I’d really rather not she fight in this war” or even “hey we’ll take the worms in if we can get our people out at the same time” and then shedding them somewhere along the way if they didn’t want to go through with it. Whatever. There were options. Lots of them.
I’m sick of people pretending as if Octavia didn’t have a Very Legitimate Reason for locking Clarke up. Clarke was a guest of Wonkru, a society with laws, and she killed someone. She broke the law. This has consequences. So let’s stop pretending that Clarke was hard done by the awful awful Blodreina and acknowledge that the person responsible for putting Clarke in danger was Clarke herself.

ROSY I haven't seen the ep. what have they done to my love Raven???
oh baby..........................
That’s not your Raven.
Last season she was a barbie doll with a string that spoke tech or high horse that-doesn’t-link-up-with-canon-character when you pulled it. This season it sings direct or indirect praises for Clarke. She may look like her old self, but don’t be mislead- that’s a Clarke prop in a signature red jacket.
“Welcome to the world of grey” as if she didn’t torture Lincoln within the first few episodes of S1 and express no remorse, as if she hasn’t been aiding or at the very least supporting/not stopping the grey of other characters this whole time, as if all of this never ever happened. “I was so afraid” as if she didn’t take herself to earth in her own rebuilt escape pod within the first few episodes of S1 or have spine surgery awake, as if all of this never even happened, as if she hasn’t looked death in the face for literally the entire show. “How do you do it?” as if she didn’t withhold medicine from a little girl in S4, as if she didn’t watch her only family die with a knife she provided Clarke with. "How do you stay so damn strong" as if she didn't literally have lines that went "I don't choose pain, I choose life" and fight an AI in her own head because it took Finn away, an AI that LITERALLY said "she's so much stronger than the rest of you."
I wish she was dead.

I couldn’t stand it - I’m watching 7.14 🤪
That was very generous of Octavia and Echo. I would like to believe that this was intentional and a choice to reflect all the years they spent on Penance/sky ring, working on selfknowledge and reflecting on their lives.
I’m pretty sure their wisdom and graciousness is a an unintentional reflectionof protagonist plot armor. I’ll take it either way.
Cadogen and his little finger stole is such a ridiculous figure. Also his beard makes me think of Kane, which by powers of transference clearly means that Bill is also a giant douche who is wrong about everything even though he sincerely believes he’s the smartest man in the room.
I haven’t watched much of this season (waiting until it’s all streaming) but the few episodes I have watched and I’m so tired of Russell sheidheda. I have no trouble understanding how twenty soldiers and a bunch of old people and children in MW dined on his people for decades. He’s utterly useless.
And Bill v Russelheda - a cage match over who has the biggest ego. And an outcome I don’t care about at alll.
This was a weirdly paced episode?
I have no idea why Miller gets all these soft bois who care about him. He’s such a stiff jerk.
Hope is a nice girl. Props to those who raised her.
I can’t believe Gabriel got such a great death!
The best thing about this episode is how utterly useless and wrong Clarke is about everything - and how quickly she had to eat shit over her stupid impulsive choices.
The worst thing is that the planet has obviously been alive for decades and decades. They never had to leave Earth orbit. Or stay in cryo so long. Consistency, little minds, yada yada... how about a medium mind? One that doesn’t retroactively make Monty an idiot as well as a poor booze maker? Or make everything in s6-7 a silly waste of time? Literally AND figuratively.

Thinking about Richard Harmon's performance in 4x08 when he's yelling at Clarke

It’s funny (not really, but still) that when Clarke tries to claim that she “cares” oh so much about Bellamy and Octavia in both 5x12 and in 6x07, it makes me roll my eyes into the back of my head, because based on canon, this is her definition of “caring” about them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even when confronted by Nylah before she leaves Bellamy to die, Clarke doesn’t give two shits; instead, she just reveals to her that Bellamy poisoned Octavia, betraying him immediately.
Tumblr media
But, in 6x08, when Bellamy tells Josephine when she’s holding Murphy at knifepoint “You think we care about that traitor?”, you just KNOW INSTANTLY that Bellamy is lying through his teeth. Because based on canon, this is what he said in the SAME EPISODE:
Tumblr media
And his immediate reaction when Josephine grabs Murphy - look at Bellamy’s face, his emotionless facade completely disappears as he jumps forward:
Tumblr media
And it’s not just that, Bellamy has shown and proven just how much Murphy means to him in both seasons 5 and 6:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So yeah, my point is that Clarke’s version of “caring” is complete bullshit because she takes every opportunity she can to abandon and leave her supposed “friends” to die because she “had to”.
While Bellamy tries to act all tough and say he doesn’t care, but his actions speak otherwise - especially given what he said earlier, and his actions since season 5.

The double standard in the fandom infuriates me. So it's perfectly okay(and considered deeply romantic for those who ship them) for Bellamy to do whatever it takes to save Clarke, but if Murphy tries to do the same for Emori, he's called every bad name under the twin suns of Sanctum. I'm so tired of Clarke and Bellamy being given free passes for everything they do.
That’s The 100 fandom for you. The double standards run rampant. 😒 I’m really tired of it, too. It starts to feel like we’re not all even watching the same show. I just don’t see what they see, whether it comes to some epic romance between B & C, or thinking that harsh words deserve a redemption arc, or a dozen other unfathomable viewpoints besides.
I try to avoid it, for the most part. But the occasional overlap between factions reminds me that some people have a very different, infuriating, and confusing perspective despite watching the exact same show that we have.

I saw a post that said the different between Bellarke and Becho is that Bellamy and Clarke co-lead but Echo is subservient to Bellamy. And, like, no?????
Bellamy and Clarke don’t co-lead, Bellamy suggests a good plan and Clarke turns it down and comes up with her own shitty plan and when Bellamy dares to disagree with her, she either emotionally manipulates him or physically abuses him.
Bellamy and Echo do co-lead, they make plans together and each stand up for themselves without hurting the other. I know it’s a new experience for a lot of Bellarkers to see a healthy and mature relationship, but that’s what Becho is.

So the vibe I’m getting from the prequel backdoor pilot is that JRoth recognizes now that the most compelling dynamic in The 100 has always been that between siblings Octavia and Bellamy, and that they should have been the co-leads, and that Clarke is mostly superfluous.
I like the prequel already, for it is a World Without Clarke.

clarke's just like *abandons the 48 in MW* *runs away after MW genocide* *plays grounder for an entire season* *steals the bunker but then fucks off on a personal mission to save her friends even after it's revealed Skaikru will now mostly die* *bombs everyone* *doesnt even try to convince the Sanctum leaders to give her people a home* *fucks off through the anomaly while everything else including her people descend into chaos*

JaTagged by @boomheda and @johnmurphysreddit.
It’s the final hiatus folks! Tag games based on reflecting on the run of the 100 so far!
Let’s start with a fun one! Most heartbreaking/heart wrenching moments!
(I’m not yet very good with pictures, so... words only folks, sorry!)
First - Fun? is an interesting word for this one! lol!
1. Tor Lemkin and his daughter/the culling on the Ark in general. It was a deeply felt moment, sketched beautifully with just a few short scenes, gestures, props (her little hairclip...) and framed shots, concluding with Abby her medical crew coming in after it was over to collect the dead. The choices were obvious, but the whole sequence was so well done.
2. Jaha’s panicked search for the crying baby on the empty ark. It moved his sacrifice to send his people home to Earth from noble to tragic in a horrfying spasm of grief for his lost son, and I know Isiah Washington is ... complicated, but I actually think he’s very good in roles that highlight the tragedy of a dignified, talented man falling to peices.
3. Clarke standing alone at the gate to Mt. Weather after Lexa abandoned her, small and alone and broken in the pouring rain. It was a very powerful visual, capturing the internal emptness and since of utter failure that Clarke was experiencing. I felt it deep in my gut, and I wanted to wrap her up in a warm blanket and over her hot cocoa and promise her tomorrow would be a better day. I know it was an earned comeuppance. And the seeds of Lexa’s choice are all there, especially in rewatch, but poor Clarke was so blindsided, and so devasted in that moment by her failure to hold the grounder/ark alliance and save her friends... it really made me ache for her. Possibly for the last time, but, still. In the moment, my heart broke a little for her.
4. Lincoln’s funeral. His death - was so long telegraphed that in the actual happening it just exasperated me (it was just a little to freaking artisitic and ironical and get over yourself JR, honestly, IMO). I couldn’t feel the tragedy of it. But they got me back at the funeral. Octavia’s face, in the firelight. I felt her grief, and how this wound was going to scar her for the rest of her life.
5. David Miller giving his place to Nate. Parents and children, always I am a complete sucker for this move.
6. Clarke betraying Octavia/surrendering to Diyoza/asking Bellamy to murder his sister. I don’t know that this was intended to be hearbreaking? But it broke my heart. Because I’d kept the Clarke hope alive in my heart for years, that somehow she’d make it back to being the protagonist I’d thought she was (pretended she was?) in s1 and s2, that I could keep on keeping on with all my buddies in the bc camp...  and with that action my heart broke, you guys. Just cracked right up. Because with her sly little shoulder settle as she picked up the radio, I knew Clarke was - for me - never going to be a person I could root for again.

in your opinion why do you think be//arke is popular?
I think that B*llarke is popular because it had potential. It had potential to be an opposites attract (though my question is how opposite are they really?) and an enemies-to-friends-to-lovers slowburn between a MOC and a bisexual main heroine. On paper, it's perfect! but...then it sorta started purposefully showing Bellamy's dynamic with Octavia right next to his dynamic with Clarke and kinda said 'he sees her like the Octavia he wanted!!!' and then Clarke gets more and more volatile to the people around her and especially Bellamy.
I think it got big because of the potential and also the bit of heteronormativity of a boy and a girl not being able to have a relationship without it being romantic but ultimately, I don't see it working and even if it was to be a last moment thing at the end of season 7, I still wouldn't accept that as canon 🤷‍♀️
