brutally honestly I'm just sick of seeing it lol. Sick of seeing the petty be//arke vs becho & Echo vs Clarke comparisons, sick of seeing people not be physically able to talk about Echo without mentioning their preference for be//arke in the same breath. I'm sick of reading some really thoughtful, wonderfully written metas, but being unable to reblog them because OP focused in on be//arke by the end, spoke about be//arke as if their interpretation was fact, rigid and indisputable, or spoke ill of Echo/becho where it had no place being within that meta. My absolute main issue with this pairing is it's fandom. I'm not a big shipper myself, but I understand it, and i'm totally pro-it. But with this particular ship it's reached a point where I feel personally buried underneath it all. Even using blacklist you can't not see it because of mistagging, and it leads to missing out on so much content, too. You can't critique the ship unless you want angry defensive anons (not in any way exclusive to be//arke shippers, but that doesn't make it any less annoying). It invades. It consumes. Which makes being in this fandom exhausting sometimes.

days after the final episode of 100 i keep seeing comments from people saying ... i'll just accept raven and clarke hug IF she apologizes to clarke for all that thing with the flame, "i'll just believe that murphy is redeemable if he makes a big sacrifice in the end" well, glad that these people are not the writers of the show, now these people can float, please and thank you.

that gifset of B saying “told ya she’d do it” with the caption “he’s so proud” has almost 4000 NOTES and it took all of my willpower to not reblog it thoroughly ripping that interpretation to shreds. be kind, don’t comment anti on gifsets, etc etc, BUT GOOD GOD, how can so many people be so willfully wrong???

I didn’t even like it as a moment between B and Octavia, it felt unearned, but goddamn does it infuriate me that LITERALLY THOUSANDS of you completely misunderstood that scene.

Even if the Flame gets destroyed tonight, here’s something that a certain group of shippers need to understand…

1. Destroying it will NOT be some kind of be-all end-all ‘cure’ for Clarke’s trauma or grief. (I honestly don’t see how it possibly could.)

2. Destroying it will NOT suddenly make your ship canon. (It was never in the cards anyway. Lexa/The Flame was never an ‘obstacle’, because you can’t be an obstacle to something that never existed.)

I will never be over the complete hypocrisy of this fandom that you will completely crucify Murphy, wish him dead and say how Clarke and Bellamy had better not forgive him after everything he’s been through this season alone, and his and his loved one’s lives being threatened by the Primes…after literally DYING this season…

But you excuse Clarke’s actions from season 5 and crucify Spacekru for being justified in their anger at Clarke and wish them dead when she made multiple attempts on their lives. Not just season 5, before that too. You DEMAND she be automatically forgiven…but you don’t do the same for Murphy after what happened to him.

To them, this makes complete sense. Just proves they're nothing but a bunch of brainless idiots.

people will try to come up with ~*~reasons~*~ to hate Echo, but ultimately it always comes down to Becho interfering with Be//arke

I actually saw a post that was like “unpopular opinion but I like Echo, I just don’t like her with Bellamy” and I wanted to kiss that person, because at least they’re being honest with themselves!! I also kinda wanted to scream, because if it’s an “unpopular opinion,” way too many people have fully convinced themselves that they hate Echo for reasons that have nothing to do with her wrecking their ship. and that’s all it is!

another post pointed out that fandom exonerates Wells, holds him in basically the highest regard, despite the fact that we barely got to know him and 90% of his characterization comes from within fandom itself. so the argument that Echo is “poorly developed” is not fully valid. most romantic relationships in this show have their inception happen off-screen (Memori, Linctavia, etc). and the only reasons to ship B/C are all subtextual and have no real “romantic” moments to be pinned on. so you can’t really say Becho was poorly developed either.

it’s just more boring shipping wars, but now people are really digging in their heels and finding reasons to hate Echo that aren’t even real - like the weird misunderstanding that she was a nightblood this whole time?? no, Russell turned her into a nightblood.

I know I should expect no less at this point. but after the reveal of Echo’s full backstory, I really can’t help but be disappointed. we were given a complete picture of who Echo is, how she’s had to live in order to survive, and a reasonable explanation for why this information was kept from us thus far. 

Echo’s entire life is a lie - her identity has been molded for her from a very young, formative age, in an incredibly violent way. her survival has depended on playing a believable role, and on never hesitating. so she keeps her loved ones close and her secrets closer.

it’s really sad, and also makes her even more inspiring as a character. we’ve been given a backstory, been given that development - can some of y’all just finally admit it was never about Echo, and 100% about being a diehard blorke? just be honest about that! it’s fine! lean into it, because you’re not fooling anyone. 90% of the Echo hate comes from the fact that she cockblocked Be//arke at the time that most people expected B/C to become canon.

and I understand if you’re disappointed about that, I would be too. but don’t disguise that with poorly misplaced and supported aggression towards a female character. be better than that.
