But when does Izuku die? For symbolism I would say on the roof and rather then subconsiously going to where Bakugo is being attacked have Midoriya just know Bakugo is panicking and where he is due to the (if onesided) bond they have.

It's probably sometime during the day with the sludge villain thing but I don't know where to put it?

I'm actually more thinking it happens inbetween leaving school and when Izuku is attacked by the sludge villain. Izuku doesn't realize it happened he just saw a bright fucking light and then feels like he got hit by a truck.

Then the sludge villain attacks him and this is when the Ghost Powers are first kicking in so he can somewhat fight back. He's mostly just accidentally going intangible and maybe going some ghost-ray stuff.

All Might still shows up to save him and we get to the rooftop scene where Izuku asks him about if a Quirkless person could be a Hero and instead of giving his Canon answer, All Might is just like 'Kid. I saw you fight back against the sludge guy. You very clearly have a decent Quirk." To which Izuku is just ???????

All Might suggests that it might just be like. Situational. Where Izuku had that Quirk but was never in a situation where he needed to use it, and therefore couldn't activate it on instinct until his life was in danger. Izuku accepts that for the most part but it doesn't explain the pinky toe thing.

Then as Izuku is trying to go home he's starting to feel the full effects and is having his powers act up because he doesn't know how to control them. But he's like 'oh shit I have a Quirk!!!'

Ofc we get the Bakugo and the sludge villain scene. Which includes Izuku running in because ofc he does he would always run in. And especially because he's starting to tap into the emotions stuff so he can feel the terror. (This isn't that strong yet. It needs to solidify better and develop. But it's still starting.)

Afterward Bakugo is like 'Oh fuck you have a Quirk. OH FUCK YOU HAVE A QUIRK?????"

And like. If you think he speedruns the redemption arc in Chaos Children? He just full on nocliped right to 'ah fuck I've been an absolute asshole for a decade and the adults in our life that led me to acting like that are even worse because holy shit none of that was okay was it?'.

They talk their shit out now and then spend the next 10 months doing their own crash course on 1.) figuring out Izuku's powers and 2.) giving a hell of a 'fuck you' to their middle school teachers.

It's debatable on if All Might still considers Izuku a potential for OfA in this AU. Izuku /seems/ to have a good Quirk of his own so he might not be on the table for this. But I do think All Might would still look at Izuku's heroic spirit(HA!) as something worthy/inspirational and the kind of person he wants his successor to be.

(Tbh? In general I haven't delved into too many 'Izuku doesn't get OfA' fics. So I don't know who I'd really want to give it to if he doesn't get it. I know that canonically Mirio was considered before All Might met Izuku but I don't know if All Might would go through with that just yet.
