FYI I’m gonna say it:
If you have early access over 2-3 weeks I am going to be putting you on the red flag simmers list.
If you are locking items behind paywalls and not letting people know when you are going to unlock them, same deal.
If you use adfly and are knowingly giving your patrons viruses, same deal.
If you call your patrons greedy, ungrateful, try to shame them for having legit concerns about your policies, or throw tantrums, I will also put you on the list.
And I will encourage my fellow simmers to bookmark it and report as needed. The links are in my link tree, which is pinned.
I am not gonna play around while you show your ass. There will be no second warning or “well maybe they forgot”. Y’all abused the policies and fucked around. Y’all almost got early access taken away for good. So we’re gonna hold you accountable so EA doesn’t take our mods/cc away.
Think that’s too bad? Ask anyone from another modding community what THEY think of your attitude. They’ll adjust it for you.
And no, a 3D modeling community doesn’t count. If you wanna sell models, do it somewhere besides this community that depends on the intellectual property of someone else. 🙄

Just a look at what I've been up to the last few days. I know, I know... I just had to start ANOTHER hair project. But really, it's about time I took out some of the overly shiny original hairs (or shiny retextures), and replaced them with stuff I like better (assuming there is anything better to be had).
In some cases I have so many retextures of a hair, I have to take them into game to see what they look like to make up my mind. In this case, I kept two of the above options. The top left was kept for the braid textures, and the one at the bottom for the color streaks.

Adding on to the last question, some people do permanent paywalls or have used link redirectors that have been known to cause problems for the people clicking on them. Then there was the incident with people getting doxxed over cc. It’s a pretty bad mess and I’m just glad ea hasn’t done anything drastic yet.
Oh I know, if you look back in my archive you'll see that I've been extremely outspoken about both the patreon doxxing incident and the adfly thing.
I think I might actually have one the most popular anti-adfly posts but I'm not sure at this point.
I do think that this statement from EA was prompted by the patreon doxxing ring... but I have my own theory on why this was posted exactly when it was.

Can we just talk about adfly
Honestly, creators that use adfly piss me off more than creators that want me to pay $25 dollars so I can have one set of theirs.
Adfly links are often blocked by anti-virus/anti-spyware software, google extensions, some VPN's features, etc. Even if I wanted to take the risk for your content, I would have to temporarily leave my computer or browser unprotected. Clicking "proceed anyway," or "allow" doesn't seem to work anymore.
Adfly links are NOT safe. I had to learn that lesson the hard way. They can, and often do, force you to allow unknown programs onto your computer. The "ads" shown can be dangerous and contain malware, which most people don't click, but accidents happen. All it takes is one click.
To me, when I see a creator using adfly, my first thought is they're either ignorant of the problems or they just don't give a crap about their fans and supporters. It's late enough in the game, and many of these creators are popular and experienced enough, I generally assume the latter. And guess what? If that's the case, you can shove your adfly links where the sun don't shine. As long as your content is behind adfly links, I won't support you.

I’m done with adfly.
I was just downloading some cc off of marigold’s cc page as a mesh, and before I could close out of adfly, it started downloading a media-player onto my computer.
I’m honestly a litttlllee freaked out about it. I have a few virus protectors but I’m still wary about it. If you’re a sims cc creator that uses adfly, please choose a safer way to get paid for your creations, like patreon or kofi.
I’ve already reblogged a post or 2 about something like this, I’m pretty sure it was about magic-bot’s abuse on paywalls, but I felt like typing this out anyway although I’m 97% sure no one will note or reply to this.
But I’m probably going to take a break posting my rooms, and learn how to keep the files from getting too large. I’m not great at this stuff so it might be a while.

I cannot honestly tell people enough how much cc creators (perma and early access) lately have been sounding so much like MLM people. Like even down to the whole “we can’t talk about legit problems and if you are, you’re being “negative, toxic, or hateful”. Like that is literally out of the playbook of MLMs (or as I like to call them, corporate cults.)
It is not negative to cite concerns respectfully. It is not hate to ask people why they made the choices they did and to disagree respectfully.
To insist otherwise is manipulative and honestly borderline gaslighting so stop it.

Can't believe I'm making another post about Adf*y in 2021 but here we go...
I'm sure you all know the new adf*y page which (i'm pretty sure) adf*y skipper can't skip anymore, the one where it asks to send notifications and won't let you proceed until you let them send notifications.
I accidentally just allowed one of these notifications (not at home and using a janky mouse on a pillow, keeps going crazy), so I immediately headed to my chrome settings to get rid of it.
I'm going through blocking everything before I delete it (just so I feel better about it truly being gone lol) and I see this:
I'm thinking, what the hell is a payment handler and why is it set to allow?? That super doesn't sound good...
And after some googling I find yeah, it's probably not great.
So, what's a payment handler?
Basically, it's when google saves your payment details to autofill later on when you're making an online purchase. So that includes your credit card, debit card, paypal, ect, details.

Now these are usually fine on legitimate sites but this site specifically:
You just google 'christianivory.pro' and every result is how to get rid of it because it's malware.
(That picture was after I cleared the cookies it had already stored, no idea what they were)
(btw, I wouldn't recommend clicking on any of these since malware/viruses are often hidden behind fake anti-malware ads/programs)
Luckily I don't keep any of my payment details saved so I'm pretty sure I'm fine after deleting it and MalwareBytes or Windows Defender hasn't detected anything.
I can't say for sure what it would have done if I hadn't of deleted it, it seems to mostly be notification spam but the fact that it was trying to access my payment methods doesn't sound all that great.
Even if having the payment methods allowed doesn't do shit, I've had money stolen from me through an adf*y virus before (source - my tumblr)
Like I said, I'm pretty sure I got lucky because I don't save those things but I'm going to offer a hypothetical situation which could be extremely likely in our community specifically;
Lets say I'm a 14 year old simmer who uses their parents computer to play the sims.
I've recently discovered custom content and my favourite creator uses adf*y, but since I'm young and new to the community I have no idea that adf*y can be bad and I trust this creator so they would never link me to anything that could harm my computer... right?
So I accept that adf*y notification and don't think anything of it, I get the CC I really like and I'm happy.
But that notification I just accepted has saved my parents credit card details. I'm sure you can guess where the rest of this situation goes.
So this is me, creator to creator, telling you need to stop. I know finding a source of income can be awful right now, but your source of income could be coming at the expense of someone else who did not agree to this.
If you think your content is worth a price then I urge you to start a Patreon, Ko-Fi or even a paypal because these are platforms that are safe for both parties and are OPTIONAL.
Adf*y is not optional for the downloader.
Stop putting the younger and more susceptible people in our community at risk.
As creators it is likely that we gain a larger following so stop taking advantage of that.
Especially if you're older or are someone who preaches the safety of our younger members in this space, step up and actually practice what you fucking preach instead of just saying it for likes and reblogs.
I am genuinely sick of this, I've been in this community for over half a goddamn decade now and I've posted before about adf*y, as have dozens of other people and this shit is STILL happening.
I am so close to wiping my old laptop and recording myself going through creators adf*y links and downloading as many malicious things as I can JUST to prove to people that adf*y is not safe.
And no, I wouldn't blur out blog names, I would specifically be calling people out on their shit.
This isn't just petty simblr drama, this can actually affect peoples lives.

This absolutely breaks my heart. Mack is one of the most loveliest, kindest members I have ever met in The Sims community. I too was angered by so-called “fans” monopolizing our community for their own selfish ends-hiding their custom content behind permanent paywalls and ad*fly. I thought I was alone in my anger, until I meet Mack along with other brave members of the community who took a stand against paywalls.
Creeps like Cowbuilds, Plasticsimz and all other pro-paywallers are pieces of scum! What they did to Mack-doxing her, sending her multiple threats-is unforgivable. It’s disgusting that they were given free reign to harm her security but even worse were their followers, spineless cowards who enabled their toxicity. These parasites are destroying our community. I and others say NO MORE!
We MUST be better then this! We MUST not turn into EA itself! We MUST be a better community! We MUST take a stand against those who tear our community apart with their toxicity, snobbery and elitism!
