too young to freak out
My nervous Formica subsericea colony. These are black field ants. When I turn on the light they panic. A newly emerged worker (called a callow) cowers as her sisters stampede over her. She is newly emerged and not strong enough to run and freak out.
(this is me at big parties TBH)
One of her sisters picks her up and she tucks her legs in like a pupae so she is easy to carry. In a few days she will be a lovely black like her older sisters.

#first ever beetle 🪲 ive seen in my apartment. just chillin there#it was standing in the inbetween of the doggy door and didnt give a shot when they went racing through it#they were very calm n nice. i could feel their little feet hooks beneath the fabric when they were walking on top of my fingers#which i almost freaked out a bit but managed to restrain myself. its a process#had an ant run up my leg the one day in the year i decided to wear shorts and sit down bc i was sure theyd be able to tell i wasnt safe to>#>walk on. yknow. big hot meaty surface. but they did. so i was a bit more wary this time. beetle showed perfect restraint however#after which they flew right into the tube light for a bit and went outside. as one does#dextxt#bugs#beetle#whoa. bugs beetle. could you imagine

Now here's a fic where Shino Aburame is the (un)lucky ninja who gets thrown into another dimension~ Welcome Shino to the world of Solo Leveling!
Anyways, he lands in Jeju Island and "befriends" all the ants by doing whatever insect things are required in order to gain control of the whole ant colony - I'm no ant expert so let's just handwave and say that he somehow achieves it.
The team that KHA organizes to clean and clear the Jeju Island is in for a real surprise to see this teenage boy living among the ants eating breakfast. Good thing that Japan sent over some Japanese hunters or there would be a language barrier to further add to the confusion.

having a bug phobia is sooo embarrassing sometimes like wow we saw something moving the size of a grain of sand and what. is my brain going to do about it? hallucinate? are we gonna have crawlies under our scalp for an hour and a half? gonna make me think the floor is moving? evacuate the building? grow uppp. squash it and move on dude!!! we have shit to do!!
