HAPPY UPDATE DAY!!! 🏠
Tumblr media
After all this time, all this hard work, I can finally tell you all more about my work on Welcome Home beyond "Dude Just Trust Me I Work On It I Swear" !!
I've been calling myself the "production manager" because a lot of what I've done has been in that realm - making checklists and spreadsheets, doing research, sending emails, and generally keeping our wonderful team on track to do the incredible things they do, with all the support they need! I'm very lucky and grateful to get to support Clown and all the incredible actors and artists we've brought on!!
that said, over the time I've been part of this project (I looked back and realized February 1st this year is when it all Officially Began, can you believe it), I've gotten to work on some more obvious, visible things you'll find on the site today as well! most prominently, I am very proud to say, I was the curator of the very real Welcome Home exhibition!! Clown was extremely generous and supportive in letting me bring his work into the world this way, and with their help it became bigger and better than I ever could have dreamed! Though this iteration was very small and private due to our venue, I hope the few of you I know who attended enjoyed it very much, and for the rest, know we hope to find ways to host the exhibition in other and more public venues in the future! (Where and when, I don't know, but I'll work hard to make it happen...!)
As part of the exhibition, I was able to create a lot of new props to help build the world of Welcome Home! Most excitingly, I was able to create a real working toy telephone, and help Clown to find our talented group of voice actors to provide the recordings! And of course, I was able to meet dear sweet Wally and Home themselves, who were the sweetest little peanuts and a true pair of professionals! Just delights to work with!!
Tumblr media
Though this was my most prominent contribution, somehow, that wasn't all! You will find bits and pieces of my art and writing all over the newest website update (some places more obvious than others...), and I was able to contribute to building many of the new and updated site pages as well! We've all worked so hard on everything you'll find there, so I hope you all enjoy the exciting new additions to the neighborhood!
My final little statement while I have my sweet little soapbox here... every last one of you who has provided support, even just one ko-fi tip, has Directly made this update Possible!! Not only do these tips allow us very literally to pay for supplies, art, voice work and the like, it very directly Supports and Improves the livelihoods of every single person involved!! so if you have the means, and would like to do so, please do consider tipping or subscribing to Clown and/or any of the other artists and actors involved!
And with all that... thank you, neighbors!! And Welcome Home!!

Didn't get catch the entire stream, but I liked the little talk-sprites :]
[ID: Fanart for hollowtones and anonymous puzzler as the talk sprites from the Super Lesbian Animal RPG stream, drawn in markers and colored pencils.
The first image is a drawing of Puzz as a light brown mouse, wearing a purple top hat with a pink yellow, and blue bow on it. They're also wearing purple overalls with a lighter purple shirt. She is smiling with her eyes closed and there is a yellow spiky shape in the background.
The second image is a drawing of Holly as a brown bear, wearing a purple button up shirt. She's reaching a paw out to the viewer, her face is blank and her eyes are cartoonishly wide. the text above her says "F***ing gets you :]" (fucking gets you).
the last image is of both Puzz and Holly, Puzz is sitting in Holly's shirt pocket and excitedly pointing to something out of frame. Puzz's speech bubble is spiky and just has 3 exclamation points. They're both smiling, and there are pink and blue spiky shapes in the background. End ID]

Man accused of stealing ‘Wizard of Oz’ ruby slippers from Minnesota museum to plead guilty
Tumblr media
The Great Ruby Slipper Heist: A Mystery Solved In 2005, a daring theft shook up the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The stolen treasure? The iconic ruby slippers from "The Wizard of Oz." Fast forward to 2018, and the FBI managed to rescue these sparkling shoes, insured for a whopping $3.5 million. So, what's the latest? Well, the alleged thief, 76-year-old Terry Jon Martin, is gearing up to admit his role in this 18-year-long puzzler. Unveiling the Guilty Plea This Friday, Terry Jon Martin, the man accused of swiping the beloved ruby slippers, is expected to swap his plea to "guilty." This revelation is like pulling back the curtain on a mystery that has intrigued folks for nearly two decades. Martin was indicted in May on one count of theft of a major artwork. The slippers, tied to the legendary Judy Garland, disappeared from the museum in 2005 and were only recovered in 2018, thanks to the FBI. No one had been held accountable for the theft until this year when Martin, who resides near Grand Rapids, faced the charges. His attorney, Dane DeKrey, revealed that his client, who isn't in the best of health, has been cooperative with him, though perhaps less so with the authorities. Facing Mortality DeKrey mentioned, "I think Terry is facing his own mortality, and I think when people are reaching that point in their life, they cut through the pleasantries and talk turkey." It appears that the sands of time have brought forth this unexpected twist. The details leading to Martin's identification are shrouded in secrecy. Martin has a prior conviction from 1988 for receiving stolen goods and is currently out on his own recognizance. Most of the evidence remains under wraps due to a protective order. The Priceless Ruby Slippers Judy Garland donned several pairs of ruby slippers during the making of the 1939 musical classic, but only four authentic pairs are known to exist. These iconic shoes were insured for $1 million, yet federal prosecutors now estimate their value at around $3.5 million. In 2017, an individual approached the insurer, claiming they could facilitate the return of the slippers. In a cunning move, the FBI orchestrated a sting operation, recovering the slippers in Minneapolis. The Road Ahead The plea agreement, crafted by DeKrey and federal prosecutor Matt Greenley, will establish the factual basis for Martin's guilty plea. U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz is expected to schedule a sentencing date in approximately three months. While the recommended sentence is not disclosed, federal guidelines suggest eight to ten years for similar cases. DeKrey expressed gratitude for the hearing being held in Duluth, given Martin's poor health. He shared, "My client is a sick man. He’s going to be on oxygen, and he’s going to be in a wheelchair." Treasured Artifacts The ruby slippers in question were on loan to the museum from Hollywood memorabilia collector Michael Shaw. They were stolen after someone broke into the display case through a window. Three other pairs Garland wore in the movie are held by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Smithsonian Museum of American History, and a private collector. Over the years, numerous rewards were offered to crack the mystery, including a $1 million contribution from an anonymous donor in 2015. A Bit of Oz The ruby slippers played a pivotal role in the 1939 movie. After an otherworldly adventure following a tornado, Garland's character, Dorothy, had to click the heels of her slippers three times and chant "there’s no place like home" to return. These magical shoes are crafted from various materials, including wood pulp, silk thread, gelatin, plastic, and glass. Most of the ruby's brilliance comes from sequins, while the shoe bows sport red glass beads. Remembering Judy Garland Garland, born as Frances Gumm in 1922, spent her early years in Grand Rapids before her family moved to Los Angeles when she was four. Tragically, she passed away from a barbiturate overdose in 1969. The Judy Garland Museum, established in the house where she once lived, boasts the world's largest collection of Garland and "Wizard of Oz" memorabilia. Read the full article

Imo, there needs to be a divide for which crimes deserve kindness + restorative justice and those crimes beyond the scope of redemption. Dalinar also gets off the hook bc he’s changed, + he isn’t a good example for discussion of justice bc the world literally needs him to survive. I think the extreme crimes require retributive justice because of their heinous nature. Suffering of extreme criminals doesn’t have to bring more good to the world, it should just balance the scale.
I’m sorry, but I really can’t agree. At least not if you mean anything long-term. If people are going to hurt other people, then yeah they definitely should be prevented from doing that. But if it won’t happen again anyway, I really can’t get behind that. There should definitely be consequences, I just don’t think that has to be in the form of suffering. I can understand where you’re coming from. There are definitely people I have (and may currently) wished harm upon. But if someone is no longer capable of harming others, I’m not sure my gratification should be worth more than their humanity. Restitution should not mean revenge.
We’ve talked about revenge in the past, so I guess let’s talk about justice.
I don’t believe in any sort of cosmic scale of good and evil that becomes more balanced if bad things happen to bad people. Causing of suffering is actually a pretty good way to define what evil is on a more general level, at least for me. In that sense, I can’t see how causing more to someone because of their past actions is helpful. If the purpose of justice isn’t to bring more good to the world, then what is it?
If the purpose of this kind of justice is to make sure someone doesn’t do their crime again, then I should think the focus should be on rehabilitation in every case. While you may be right and some people may be beyond redemption, I’m not sure it’s any of our place to make that decision for others. We can’t know that about someone. To just kill someone or sentence them to a life of misery is to deny their humanity. I can definitely think of some situations where that may be a necessary action that needs to be taken for the greater good, but when placed in the context of developed society, I’d think these kinds of sacrifices would be needed less often.
The other purpose of this kind of justice I could think of would be deterrence, making sure other people see you pay and won’t try it in the first place. I would assume the kinds of crimes you mean probably aren’t super common, so I don’t know how much this applies. But even here, I’m not sure harsh justice has ever reduced the incentive to actually commit crimes. Just increased the incentive to be more clever about it. I don’t think suffering reduces crime, I think the opposite. If you don’t want people to steal, provide for them. If you don’t want people to harm each other, give them community and human connection. Or maybe people need education or kindness or any number of things, there are a lot of If you mean for your justice to be preventative, I would think you’d want to focus more on the people who haven’t committed crimes than on those who have.
The other reason I can think of for suffering-based justice, is, as I said, revenge. A whole other topic that we’ve had a lot of discussion on-you can probably tell how I feel about it. I’ll acknowledge that in our current state of things, sometimes victims need some kind of closure that goes beyond paid damages and all that. Sometimes vengeance is the best that they can think of. Sometimes it may even be warranted to an extent-I really don’t know. I would still like to think that as people or communities we’re capable of recovering and moving on independently of seeing others suffer.
This is all pretty idealistic, but it’s more or less how I feel.
(I would agree that Dalinar is really a great lens with which to look at this particular issue. I don’t really think stormlight archive as a whole is the best medium for this theme anyway, although feel free to prove me wrong because if you want to discuss justice in these books then I am down.)

Overly Belated Game Impressions from PAX Aus 2018
Tumblr media
Every year I go to PAX Aus with some close friends to check out the Incredible Future of Games that everyone else already checked out six months ago. This is usually coupled with checking out some wonderfully well-preserved old games and hardware, along with some typically wonderfully weird indie stuff I've never heard about before. Every year, I've written up a little review of things I've played (or watched get played) on an old private forum some friends maintain, but this year, I've figured, fuck it, I might as well post it publicly, right?
Not Indie Games
Tumblr media
Super Smash Bros Ultimate sure is a Smash game. That's not a bad thing, but since this was the same demo build from E3 (so before the Castlevania reveals) there wasn't a huge amount of surprises - just a damn good fightfest. Amusingly, the demo booths were split into two groups - For Fun (items on, Switch Pro Controller) and For Glory (items off, the new Gamecube controllers). New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe has a nonsensical name and spawned an even more nonsensical meme. The demo had six levels to play - three from the base game, three from the Luigi expansion - with both the new and old characters to play. It doesn't look like anyone other than Toadette can get the meme crown, meaning players using that character won't have to jostle for powerups in multiplayer. I didn't play Pokemon Let's Go Eevee because the queue was like 90 minutes long, but my friend braved it and gave it a resounding "ehhhh" with a hand gesture resembling a teetering see-saw. Apparently the co-op stuff wasn’t available in the demo, either, which concerned my friend since that was specifically what he was interested in.
V-Rally 4 looks nice aesthetically, but the gameplay seems pretty "eh". The name seems to be about the most interesting part. Dragonball FighterZ for Switch seems like a pretty decent port. I don’t know much about the source material or original game, but it ran fast and I didn't notice any obvious hitching or whatever.
Luigi's Mansion for Nintendo 3DS is... a 3DS port of the Gamecube launch title. It ran at a solid 30fps... a whole lot better than I recall Luigi's Mansion 2/Dark Moon running, but I was also using a vanilla 3DS for that game while the demo units at PAX were New models.
Indie Stuff
Tumblr media
The Xbox Adaptive Controller was present as part of a demo setup for a version of One More Line. I wasn't expecting to have to push the Big Novelty Button as hard as I did, I thought it'd be a lighter touch for some reason. Although I know the button kinda isn't the point of the thing...
Supertrucks Offroad is a PC adaption of a mobile take on old top-down racing games. There's promise here, but the current handling and physics leave a lot to be desired. Hopefully it continues to develop and evolve.
Infinity Heroes is a card game with some simplified mechanics and animated versions of all the card graphics. Has potential, but still plenty of rough edges and pre-alpha grit to sand out.
Metal Wolf Chaos XD sure is a port of an Xbox game. It feels pretty well done, all things considered - the framerate is great, the controls are responsive, and the English subtitles are sometimes even connected to what's being said by the characters!
Ghoul Britannia: Land of Hope and Gorey is a point-and-click adventure game that, unexpectedly, uses a Fallout-esque isometric perspective instead of the usual side-on.
Tumblr media
Table of Tales is a VR tabletop RPG where you control an entire party of Scoundrels by moving pieces around a constantly-changing board and playing ability cards. Since it was a VR game, there was a long sign-up queue to play, so the developers set up a little booth where Arbitrix, the game's DM (and, incidentally, a mechanical talking bird), would cheerfully explain the game for you. He said my goatee was perfect for a pirate adventure. It was probably intended as a compliment.
Supermarket Shriek is very similar to a game I prototyped years ago, except it's got a Supermarket Sweep theme and shrieking goats. Also, it's actually getting finished and has more than one level, which is another differentiator. Use the shoulder triggers to make the characters inside a shopping trolley scream their lungs out, propelling the trolley and allowing you to steer it through silly retail-themed obstacle courses.
You probably think, based on the squat protagonist and camera angle, that Tunic is a riff on Zelda: A Link to the Past. Surprise! It's actually a riff on Zelda: Ocarina of Time! The combat is very similar, with a dodge/roll button and Z-targeting (although I guess it's more RT-targeting now) that jumps to the next enemy upon beating your current one. I can't say enough nice things about the graphics... One thing that's interesting is that the entire game is in a fictional language. This includes stuff like the pause menu!
Dash Blitz is a pretty amateurish attempt at a Smash-esque platform fighter. The "feel" just isn't there, sadly.
Nom Nom Apocalypse is a top-down dual-stick roguelite about fighting off food monsters. It looks pretty interesting, but sadly I didn’t get to go back and give it a hands-on look.
Henry Mosse and the Wormhole Conspiracy is a good old-fashioned point and click adventure. The graphics are wonderfully drawn in a cartoon style, but they suffer from really puppet-y animation like an old Flash cartoon, and it breaks my heart.
Tumblr media
No Moss Studios bought along Beam Team, a couch co-op game about fighting a giant donut that I didn’t get to try, as well as a collection of weird little Patreon-funded oddities like Sprout Up, a simple little mobile game about weaving through vines, and My Magpie, a bird-aiding simulator of sorts.
Little Reaper is a platformer with a fun movement twist in that you can throw your scythe - which travels in an arc like a hammer in Mario - and teleport to where it lands. I'll have to give this a closer look.
Mars Underground is an Earthbound-esque RPG-style adventure game with a Groundhog Day-style conceit of being stuck in a time-loop. I can't really say it struck me, to be honest.
Scout's Honor is a co-op party game where four players team up to set-up a camp-site in a limited amount of time while dealing with hazards and such. It looks kinda cute, reminds me of Overcooked a bit.
Ice Caves of Europa is a rather odd-controlling game where you pilot a hover-drone controlled by an artificial intelligence. This one probably takes a bit more time to wrap your head around than a convention center allows.
Introspect looks really cool - a Shadow of the Colossus-style boss rush with an emphasis on movement tricks and agility. I didn't get to play it while I was there, but the developers were handing out download codes for the show floor build. It seems pretty fun, although it still needs a good deal of polish.
Soundfall is a dual-stick rhythm-shooter where you have to get to the end of a course before the song ends, with rewards for shooting and slashing to the beat ala Crypt of the NecroDancer. One to watch.
Tumblr media
Ticket to Earth is a tactical strategy RPG ala Fire Emblem with a tile-matching mechanic that makes how you move to your enemies even more important by limiting your movement and charging your special abilities. The comic artwork is nice, although the talking heads only seem to have one or two facial expressions.
Nova Flow is a first-person speedrunner that reminds me of a blend of Mirror's Edge's DLC maps and that one paint game that got incorporated into Portal 2. One of the demo levels was apparently one of the hardest levels in the game, and the developer was quite impressed at my getting within inches of completing it before the demo timer ran out...
Dawnblade seems to be an attempt at doing the whole Diablo thing on a phone, with the player hacking their way through short, pre-made maps. Visually, it looks like any of a million other games riffing off of Warcraft 3, and it seems to have some weird mobile game trappings like a stamina system to limit the amount of time you can play in a period of time.
Little Bit Lost is a survival game where you've been shrunk down to the point where ants tower over you and are powerful monsters. This one felt real early. It has promise, but needs a lot of polish to truly deliver on it.
Rogue Singularity is a 3D platformer with procgen levels. The feel didn't gel with me, and I can't really say I liked it all that much. It didn't help that the Switch port I played seemed to lack anti-aliasing entirely, giving the entire scene an unpleasant jagged look.
Ashen looks utterly fascinating - an open-world Souls-esque action RPG with Journey-style "passive" co-op where you can occasionally meet other, anonymous players out in the world and either help them or leave them to their fate. It looks really pretty.
Speaking Simulator is a hilarious puzzler where you have to manually operate a human mouth in order to say Entirely Normal Phrases in order to convince people that you are absolutely a human and not a murder robot in disguise.
Tumblr media
Untitled Goose Game had a massive queue that I was absolutely not going to fuck with. :(

do you have any taz fic recs? especially taakitz or blupjeans!!
i am very sorry for how long this took!! i am an old lady who stores her bookmarks in browser, and after figuring out how to transfer them from phone to laptop, i realized i would have to carefully review all 65!! this took most of the day.
disclaimer: i tried to focus mostly on the ships you mentioned, but i got distracted by some of the really good gen fic i keep around. it’s just. it’s my favorite you guys.
apologies if you’ve already read all of these – i’m not sure what the trends of the fandom are. if all else fails, here’s a link to posts tagged both fic and blupjeans, and here’s one for fic and taakitz. i also have a fic rec tag that includes a few things i apparently never bookmarked properly!! check that out too :)

Haha Whoops Uh Oh! (UPDATED 6/11/23)
so this isn't the type of post I normally like to make, but! uh! hey! I just got ambushed by a HUGE tuition bill I wasn't expecting, and I'm out of options to pay it - they've already applied my scholarship and loans, I'm already working multiple jobs that are basically just barely paying for rent + groceries, and I only have enough on my credit card to pay for One of the three payments they're requiring, which only gets me through till July (with, again, no options that get me that amount of money by that time).
further full disclosure, this bill came at like, the worst possible time - they've given me four days to make at minimum the first payment (which, again, I can only do by maxing out my credit card), and on top of juggling multiple jobs I'm also in the middle of two classes, including one which involves upcoming travel (that is already paid for, thank god). Hence, me Scrambling a li'l bit!!
as such, I've set a new goal on my ko-fi!! it is, of course, HUGE, but genuinely any small amount people are able to contribute goes a huge way to giving me SOME way to pay it off. note that 3-coffee doodle requests are still A Thing, commissions are still a thing (if you have one active I'll be getting to them this & next week), and I'll be streaming wherever I can to pull together money that way - wherever it comes, any support is HUGE and I mean that.
UPDATE 6/11/23: I am updating the original post to remove the ko-fi link and yet you fine folks know: HOLY HECK, y'all managed to get my tuition dealt with. words truly cannot express my gratitude for that - I'm so, so, SO humbled and thankful for everyone who came out to get me out of a really rough situation.
in the slightest, smallest attempt to pay forward the kindness i've been shown, I'm gonna try and use this moment to direct y'alls attention to some other folks I know who could use some kindness! hardly comprehensive, in no particular order, just top-of-my-mind type type beat. (note that these are all folks' twitter handles - some of 'em are on tumblr too, but I figure best to direct you to where I know they are 100%!)
@/Pochiyaki is a friend & artist who's been trying to get out of a bad money situation a while, and could definitely use some love!
@/rudeboimonster is similarly a dear friend who's been struggling to find long-term work and housing, anything you got would help.
Or, considering supporting the work of a creative you love! A few I've been loving lately that I'd recommend:
@/cosmignon (Runaway Draikana webcoming, and other comics and illustration work)
@/SynthCharmVA (voicework & writing/show development)
@/Tonya_Song (music - including vocals, piano and composition - plus education and activism work)
@/jaypg_art (character design, visdev, and illustration)
@/littlegoodfrog (Matchmaker and other comics)
@/winonaparadise (Girls With Horns and other comics/illustration work)
@/derekmballard (comics, including the upcoming Cartoonshow graphic novel)
@/_PartyCoffin_ (Welcome Home, and just about every art form you can conceive of)
and of course, if you're not following & supporting my amazing partner @/hollowtones, who helped me through this tough situation in every possible way - well you ought to be!! a delight and talent in every imaginable way, and I'm only a little biased on that.
and above all else... THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!!!

i made a black forest cake from scratch today you wish you were me
[Image ID: A black forest cake shaped roughly like a heart. The outside is chocolate crumbs and there is a ring of whipped cream spirals along the top and bottom. There are cherries in juice on the top layer, contained by the whipped cream ring.]

hi friends!! it occurred to me that I haven't been able to do streaming job for a bit, *and* I'm not gonna get day job money for a week this month, *and* I'm racking up some expenses with groceries & cat care & holidays, so uh! maybe I should push my art stuff! so I'm doing that!!
if you toss me $9 USD on ko-fi (so 3 coffees) and include a request I'll do a simple ink drawing like this! (nothin' nsfw/bigoted, I reserve the right to turn down etc). you can also fill out a comm form if you want somethin more complex as I'll be workin on these on my break!
you can find links to both my ko-fi and my comm form in my pinned post if you're interested, or if not slash you don't got the money (understandable!!) I'd appreciate ya sharing this around - either way, thank you for all your kindness 'n support!!!
