WIP Wednesday

WIP from a piece I think I'm almost done with featuring Annie and Halsin. At the Last Light Inn, Annie finds a piano and insists on playing for her favorite druid. Veers into NSFW towards the end with some imagery.

When Halsin reached the room with the piano, he was not surprised to see Anais already there. She was the very picture of delight and excitement, and when her gaze met his, she beamed at him. Anais greeted him with a breathy “hello” and hugged Halsin. She loves not only receiving affection but giving it. How I yearn for the day when we may finally be alone for longer than a few hours at a time.

“Have you been waiting long, my heart?”

She shook her head. “Oh no! I only got here a few moments ago myself. Please, love.” Anais sat on the bench at the piano and gestured to Halsin to sit next to her. This is going to be a tight squeeze, but I’m not complaining. It was indeed a tight squeeze, but it seems Annie doesn’t mind either. Good, good. “I’m going to probably regret asking, but what do you know of dwarven opera?”

Halsin chuckled. “Nothing at all, I’m afraid.”

“That’s alright. Anyways, what I want to play for you is one of my favorite pieces from a dwarven opera.” Taking a deep breath, she focused on the piano and began to play. Halsin was enchanted by her, by the music, by the way her fingers danced on the keys. He was not sure how much time had passed before she did several flourishes at what he thought was the end of the song. “Did you like it?” she asked timidly, her cheeks a little flushed.

Cupping her face in his large, calloused hands, he kissed her gently. “Of course, I did! What a beautiful gift you have…thank you for sharing it with me.”

She smiled softly, clearly enjoying his touch. “You’re very welcome. Any requests before we possibly head to my tent for other activities?” Anais teased. How sweet she is.

He thought for a moment. “Something that brings you joy.” That was not an answer she expected. The way her nose scrunches as she thinks…she is more beautiful than nature itself. “I…oh, alright. Um, how about this?” She played a romantic, whimsical waltz, and Halsin easily imagined her dancing in a forest clearing, the sun kissing her hair and face to make her glow. Or better yet, dancing naked under the moonlight. What a sight that would be.

Soooo @halsin and @necroticpetals tagged me for wip wednesday (which this week falls on a friday because I have no concept of time right now hahaah!!) - Annie, Ophelia - thank you both for the tag my dears !!

I don't feel i've been very active with creation this past month (in august) - lots of wonderful things have been happening offline (made so many good and happy memories this past month) - but as the summer starts to draw in and Autumn comes - I will return to create more !!

BG3! RASMUS'S PINTREST BOARD:

As I slowly work my way through bg3 - I have been thinking about my dear Rasmus (my ex-trauma team medic oc for cp2077) - thinking about him in my BG3 AU - .. So, the logical thing is to run to pintrest and start making a visual guide. Lots of sunsets - flowers and tears - In my BG3 AU - Rasmus is a cleric of Lathander - previously a soldier before finding his calling to the dawnbringer... You can find this board here (still have a lot to add- but it's a start!) I'm so excited to start playing as Rasmus in BG3-!! I''ve got his character model / save file all ready to go - just need to find the time to play now!

VIRIDIAN ((but with heterochromia!!))

Ages ago - I had an idea of the possibility of giving viridian heterochromia- and this idea sat in my head for ages- until yesterday when I made a little fashion doodle - and then realised that there is actually a heterochromia mod for cp2077 (by @noraleedoes -!!) So I had a play around!! (and still am- theres lots of parts to the mod- lots of trying and testing and yelling at my pc- but I'm getting there slowly!!) The concept / idea around why my best girlie would have the heterochromia can be found here

Change of plans because the new year has already been beating me into the dirt and my fiance is going to try and force me to take a mental health day from work despite just having gone back today

Ah.

So.

After I'm done two commissions for a friend, I'll be going on my hiatus.

Indefinitely.

My original plan was to have Dear Mother done by the new year to start with a clean slate. Then it got busy, and I planned on finishing it the first week of January.

Well, the first few DAYS of the month decided to beat me over the head and kick me while I was down, and quite frankly I'm... not ok.

I WILL be doing some art still, but only 2-3 days of the week at most while the fiance uses the PS5, and I'm slowly sketching out strip 32 of the comic with the commissions, so I might be able to squeeze it out... But when your mental health tanks so bad that you need to call out of work, its time to take a step back.

So the comic will be done, but it'll just... be done when it gets done. Kinda hoping it'll get done before its 2 year anni, but at this point I don't know. Might work on it on the few days I'll be on the computer.

But for now... yeah. Gonna just work on these Comms, and then hop off. I'll be playing more BG3 both finishing this playthrough and starting others- i may be doing DurgeBhaalspawn!Emelia next but we'll see. I'm also subclassing her as a Druid when I play next so she can turn into a wolf LAKDLAJFLFJ-

Annie: Draconic bloodline sorcerer fire genasi (tiefling in bg3), Karlach romancer, lesbian, lover of big buff ladies. Street urchin with a knack for magic, picked up and raised by a half elven sorcerer. She became an adventurer so no child will have to be scared of the very monsters she fought as a kid.

Helia: Solidarity domain cleric (Life domain in bg3), Goliath/Earth genasi (Half-Orc in bg3) Lae'zel romancer, pan & poly, lover of people who can keep up with her. Incredibly efficient and well meaning, honest (unintentionally brutal about it), loves to learn and teach. Community oriented, loves to spar. She became an adventurer because she had a dream in which her goddess commanded her to do so.

Laura: College of Valor bard, half-elf, Shadowheart & Halsin romancer. Lover of people she can be herself with. She became a bard despite her mother's protests, and her dad became her agent and managed pretty much all her stage image. She became an adventurer to get away from it all a bit, to discover who she is and what she wants.

Karlach: self explanatory. Wyll romancer

Honour mode: Failed twice already (With Annie and Helia) so I probably need to look up some guides about The Most Optimal Tav to beat it

DURGE: All my characters so far have been tavs, I'll have to make a new character for a durge. Will be a Wyll romancer

Gale romancer: I love the guy, I wanna play his romance, I just don't have any characters that would fit him yet, so this option would also lead me to making a new character

I love video games and currently am playing Baldur's Gate 3 Resident Evil 4 (and the rest of the series) over and over again until my brain chemistry changes

Other games I enjoy are Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, The Nancy Drew Series, Death's Door, and Until Dawn / The Quarry (I haven't actually played these yet, but I did enjoy the playthroughs I watched and they're on my list!)

I'm always looking for new puzzle, adventure, or cozy games to play especially if they have a spooky vibe or horror themes

I'm currently a grad student working on a MA — I like to call it artistic literary coding (because that's really what I'm exploring in my thesis) I graduated y'all! 😭

I have ADHD, which is why I tend to ramble and sometimes abandon projects, but I'm desperately trying to get better about that (pray for me)

full rules are found on my main blog. basically don't be a snot rag & we'll be cool. it's likely there will be bg3 spoilers here, & while i have not progressed far (considering the device i was using to play cannot handle it & i'm downloading it on my new device as i type) i'm not afraid to spoil some things for myself, especially fixed plot points. i may only know the barest details, but you get it.

STATS:

name: annette carli race: half-elf (wood) class: druid (circle of spores) age: low twenties, quite young background: hermit [raised by a hag in seclusion, studied in her books deeply]

known spells: druidcraft, mending, infestation, guidance, speak with animals, healing word, entangle, heat metal, barkskin, moonbeam common/preferred wildshape forms: cat, ferret, fox, black bear, screech owl

THE STORY:

as far back as she can remember, annette has lived with her mother -- a powerful witch, bound by blood to the fey laws, nasty in disposition but charitable enough in her raising of the young half-elf girl. (annette never truly knows the extent of it, but her mother is of no blood relation -- a green hag, bound by a deal to care for the child that she'd been promised by a young man long ago, long before he ever thought of children.) a life of isolation, following rules of her mother, & being told the outside world lies, they hurt, they never could take care you the way i can, shapes the young girl's childhood & adolescence. the hag's aversion to beauty manifests itself into her crippling insecurity. annette learns the foundation of her druidic knowledge by sneaking to read some of the tamer books in the lair, learning simple things. her sneaking & the tension between her existence & her mother's practices came to a head, resulting in annette being deposited somewhere in the woods, unable to find her way home.

she learns much from simply surviving, growing in her druidic practices outside of a circle. her upbringing echoes into her fears of becoming like her mother & in her magic, leaning toward the mushrooms & the brambles instead of the herbs & flowers. she does, unfortunately, encounter the young lord everett mallory. he is everything mother warned her of -- a liar, looking for what he wants with no thought of how to earn it, impolite, trying to take what is not offered. it's her first wildshape: she panics, turns into a rabbit, & bounds away. thus we find her now, a lonely druid always running from & never moving to anything.

the main difference between her bg3 variation & general d&d is her being tadpoled & being a companion to tav. her personal quest would likely be either resolving her problems with everett or, if you feel daring, helping her realize that the hag was not her mother & maybe even dispatching the hag.
