Paid tomorrow first real paycheck in months feeling blessed. I am buying these books from alibris, chasing the strange post-vietnam war era obsession i'm in right now and dog soldiers is one of the few mid-century "young-man canon" novels that actually sounds wise and important...james tate david berman recommendation...ways of seeing b/c more normie art criticism will be good for me...soon i will buy the first denis johnson poetry collection but holding off b/c i just finished tree of smoke...internal reading list also currently has more major annie erneaux, vivan gornick, must revisit rush's mating now that i have grown up, revisit some archipelago novels, hanne orstavik (all of them, especially Love and Ti Amo for my current deep wistful romantic state...theyre all so short,can be finished in a day...there was that text post going around a while ago something like "i just need to read a short novel in one sitting that will change my life" hanne orstavik is the writer for that), christine angot (esp.an impossible love what a novel)...reading since i have liberated myself from adderall and the eyes of others is so free and beautiful and impressionistic it is all i want to do. Also since i lost my copy of salter's sport+pastime before finishing it i iwll get a new copy and read that again soooo good powerful. Or maybe any other salter. There are so many good novels

and some goodwill clothing (my one pair of jeans now has a large hole in the outer thigh!) that feels more of the moment more camo pants old t shirts, some that fit closer to my body because heavy work has built comfort with my body (this is a paradigm shift in itself) must purchase good boots and insoles for work want extreme heavy black work boots. will send money to abby because she has probably purchased me hundreds of dollars in drinks by this point. Tthanks abby ily.

going to have a scotch night w max to celebrate new job and all we have accomplished together and because i havent tasted any good single malt anything in too long.

Much of paycheck will go to savings for car+apartment. Car is coming within weeks, apartment within months.; Building life up and getting it going again. FEels good to be back in land of the living it is one thing to make a humble amount of money but still get a cup of coffee some times, pack of cigarettes, drinks with friends... it is another thing to have 0 dollars for months. i am grateful for this period of austerity but im working hard and im excited to get paid for it. love life xo. going to go text matthew back havent seen him since january. little espresso+cig too.

"works for me," he said. "if your mom and i didn't fuck we'd be divorced. that's all we really need from each other. we don't even need the company. i have my friends, i have you and your brother."

"what hope is there for me if that's your romantic outlook?"

"romance isn't everything." he said. "it's barely even a top five thing."

in the late afternoon, annie snorted some adderall and cleaned her apartment. then she smoked weed in front of the TV, wondering if ryan would come over and whether or not she had the energy to fuck.

she got an email from jim. jim as in, julia's boyfriend? she checked. he'd emailed her professional account, meaning he'd looked her up. "just wanted to see how you were doing, you seemed pretty tipsy last night, hope you're well, we should hang out soon! -J"

"i was fine," annie replied. "not very drunk at all. just enough to make good decisions." she smiled at herself and sent it.

"want to get coffee next week?" jim wrote back, very quickly.
