2000 Downtempo Playlist

Alright, folks, I’m a bit hungover today while writing this, so sorry for the short-ish post. New playlist this week: downtempo music from the year 2000. Almost all of it’s on this solitudinous, introspective, melancholic, earthy, organic, and chill kind of vibe. The Spotify version of this playlist only pulls from two compilations, Invisible Soundtracks: Macro 3 and Putting the Morr Back in Morrissey. There’s also some overlap between trip hop, IDM, and indietronica.

The YouTube version of this playlist, on the other hand, while still on that same overall theme, pulls from a few more releases. “Your Life” by City is this beautiful piece of downtempo by an artist whose identity has never been unveiled. If you look at the comments on the video, a good amount of people remark that it’s their favorite song of all time. And you can see where they’re coming from if you listen to it because it’s fantastic. Also, “Arsehead” by Gay Biker is this really slept on tune that sounds like its hard-snare drumbeat was recorded live in studio. And it blends those drums with a bunch of sitar buzz 😍.

Un recital teatrale di Alessandro Quasimodo, "Operaio di Sogni", dedicato alla poesia del padre Salvatore, con la regia di Lorenzo Vitalone e la partecipazione di Mario Cei. Ad Anna Jencek il compito di inframmezzare l'interpretazione poetica di Alessandro con siparietti musicali, accompagnando con la chitarra, musicando e cantando alcune liriche di Saffo nella traduzione di Salvatore Quasimodo: «di questo suo lavoro il poeta parlava spesso a noi, allievi affascinati del suo corso di letteratura al conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Milano». Nasce così “Saffosonie” il nuovo disco di Anna Jencek,

How am I narrowing the account choices

I went into the assignment with a good idea of who I wanted to follow. I love Anna Sitar, Elyse Myers, and Whitney Simmons, so being able to analyze their content over the next few weeks is exciting to me. They are funny and relatable, so watching their content and learning how they interact with their following is exciting for me.

40: Who do you wish you could be?

This is a hard question, I don't think I feel like I want to be anyone else. If I could be myself and have a similar lifestyle as to someone else it would be Anna Sitar from Tik Tok. She gets to travel alot and participate in a lot of celebrity events and go to the Red Carpet and Fashion Week and stuff.

Major Influencers

I wouldn’t say I’m a dedicated follower of influencers on social media platforms. I don’t put much effort into knowing what they are doing every second of every day. But I do have a few that I’ve noticed like see every once in and while, and I favor them over others. The most common social media that I’m on are Instagram and TikTok. On Instagram, I usually just stay updated through cute pictures of friends or acquaintances. TikTok, I usually just go on it for entertainment. But out of all the influencers that are out there I like to view Anna Sitar. I view her activity on both Instagram and TikTok. She makes posts about her day or something new she’s tried out. But what I most like about her is the energy she puts in. A correlation I’ve noticed is that Anna stays updated, wants followers' opinions, and acts as a big sister type online. She does everything a normal influencer does such as new product reviews for different companies, or incorporating a brand into her content. But even then her online status of being a mega-influencer still feels real and not choreographed. Another influencer that I follow is my favorite music artist currently, Stephen Sanchez. I mostly just follow his Instagram, but do most of my support by just listening to his music. His online status is just as a music artist, posting song updates or concert pictures. But even with him being a macro-influencer, his profile look in my pinon is simple and sweet. Not promoting as much brand as an influencer would, and sticks to his form of music. The latest influencer that I’ve been interested in the new appearance of Wednesday, is Jenna Ortega. From watching her on the Disney Channel as a kid, then seeing her star in many different movies and shows can be fun to follow up on. She is a phenomenal actor and I could only hope she is phenomenal in person as well. She is very much a Mega-influencer doing everything under the sun such as product promotion, working with brands, modeling, acting, etc. She is not an influencer I really follow up on but is still a celebrity that I look forward to seeing.
