some art i had made for the final day of heaven-ecologist 's angelsweek2022, based off the prompt "heaven ecology". I love the whole concept of heaven being its own kind of alien biome, and i think the most interesting species to explore are the angels themselves! so, I drew some stuff surrounding a hc I've had for a while, which is that the angels have "feather" crests that they flip up when they get agitated, kind of like how earth animals have deimatic displays. They will pull back right before a direct attack, though. The actual "feathers" themselves are reversed, revealing inner eyes that are meant to stun and frighten. You know the whole thing about angels being covered in eyes?

I joined a bird watching group recently although I've been doing birdwatching on my own for some time. Im now learning the joys of "new bird watchers discovering baby birds in the spring," aka 1000 posts asking "why are these birds screaming at this other bird and following him around? He looks so tired?" And sometimes even, "Why is he feeding them? What are they?? Robin is feeding what type of bird???" my friend that's simply called A Child and it's a concept that transcends species

I still want to talk about star rail amd no one has talked to me about it, so i'll just ramble to myself now.
I really like firefly 😭 she's one of those characters I have a soft spot for. the way i perceive her is she feels a bit lost, but also very trapped. she's like a caged bird longing to fly. a fish in a tiny bowl wishing to taste the ocean. she wants to be free from her shackles. she's also alone and doesn't seem to really have anyone. no one to help her. no one to rely on. no one to trust. it's kind of like stelle became her first real friend and she immediately attached to stelle and appreciated her kindness so much. she was hiding stuff yes, but we just met so that makes perfect sense.
maybe she's relatable in a sense, and that's why i like her. I want to protect her or help relieve her burden she's stuck with even a little. I feel like we did that for the short moment we were together. sometimes the saddest souls smile the prettiest, with just the smallest of kind gestures. those smiles are fleeting, but also very precious. she's that type of character i guess. I always end up liking these kind of characters 😅

"I laugh when I look at this shot - one in a million chance of capturing the precise moment when these birds are locked in eye to eye!
Out in my boat fishing one morning, I noticed that an eagle was being harassed by a blue jay on the shoreline next to my cabin. The blue jay’s relentless attacks were only mildly irritating to the eagle. The big bird’s facial expression was one of pure disdain. Jays are fiercely territorial - the eagle had perched near the jay’s nest and the jay was determined to protect its young.
My boat floated closer and closer to the skirmish and I knew that I might be able to capture a special moment if I just kept shooting. I love the image for so many reasons. The eagle is protecting its most valuable secret weapon - its eyes - by sliding a thin membrane over its eye just as the jay flies by. The jay is executing a ninja move as it makes its escape. And I love the way the image illustrates the sheer contrast in size between the enormity of the eagle’s body and the small silhouette of the blue jay.
I’ll always be thankful that I was in the right spot at the right time."
