#DCB Three Hopes Run#i care for you dearly monica but this just ain't it#at the time of posting this I've cleared most of the maps in the game on all difficulties#save for a chunk of AG's stuff which the lead up maps I'm still going through#and am not sure if I plan to finish the maddening ones during my next full playthrough#but boy am I enjoying being out of the victim blaming zone. I don't mind the chapters that are like#internal struggles like Ludwig or the returning to Enbarr assassination attempt chapter#but it's when it gets into all the Kingdom/Church (and somewhat Alliance) stuff that it just feels gross to me#SB wouldn't have been all that bad probably at all if it focused on Edelgard versus#internal strife in Adrestia and fighting TWS bc those chapters are all fine???#literally like any chapters not revolving around the conquest aspect are fine#but then you get dumb shit lines like these that remind me why I hate Edelgard's routes#and it's not just that I don't like her as a person/character but also like the way the narrative itself tries to#frame the whole victim blaming as being correct and the right thing and the right side and stuff#like at least admit as part of the immediate narrative that the victim blaming just ain't cool#have like idk Ferdinand say something abt it (but ig he can't bc Hopes reduced him to yet another Edelsimp)#don't try to frame it as lol yeah they're ACTUALLY shitty ppl for defending their home from aggressors invading#posting this in the dead of the morning bc i wanna bring it up but also like#fewer ppl on at this time lol it's just smth that rly frustrates me bc SB had potential and they squandered most of it

can't believe that until a year ago i used to hate genderbending that's so embarrassing lol glad i grew out of that and have learned to appreciate it properly
#i'm not the same anymore uwu and all that jazz#tbf one thing i always hated abt genderbending that sometimes the flaws of a character get erased once they're a woman#to make her a mary sue basically#tho i have learned it depends heavily on fandom and character#shikam*ru (censoring so this doesn't appear in the tags) genderbends are the best example#i'll forever be of the opinion that if shika had been a girl instead he - resp. she - would've been thee most iconic character ever#and when i saw fem shika fics i was so elated#just to find out that in every. single. one. his flaws got erased to make fem shika out more superior#and it's so maddening to me like why would you do that??? his flaws are what makes him human! what makes him real!#he needs to make mistakes that actually bite him in the ass and that he learns from then - that's what makes him a dynamic character#and fem shika writers just erase that. make her smarter (??? as if he's not smart enough already??) and not lazy just for girlboss purposes#thanks for making an interesting character boring now#and it's so prevalent that it ruined the prospect of fem shika to me at all now...#but anyways genderbending rules actually#who needs men when they all could be women actually#(i only wrote this bc i suddenly realized i've never read a fem tony fic after i posted the one two days ago lol)

yes! constance! (i've been meaning to draw her for ages whoops)
I've had the dlc for two runs (vw and am, both hard) and idk if i'd ever play without constance again. She has two very specific features:
tied with lysithea for highest magic growth in the game
bolting
bolting is only learnt by constance (60% magic growth), hilda (25%), and manuela (35%). warlock/gremory gives +10% magic growth, giving constance a huge magic stat by the end of the game. her defences are horrible, but she shouldnt be getting attacked anyway.
by the time she's in warlock/gremory she can cast bolting four times, unless her crest of noa activates and she gets more uses, so she's able to completely remove four enemies per battle from across the map. I give her the ordelia sorcery co. battalion for +8 mag and +20 hit too, and thyrsus so she can hit from 5 range with her normal spells once she has S rank reason. She also gets fimbulvetr and agnea's arrow for increased power if needed. her weakness is powerful bosses with counter like the death knight, but otherwise she can one shot almost anything
I only ever bring one mage who can't learn physic per team, and it's constance now. She also has rescue, which isnt worth enough to get flayn a team spot, but it's really nice utility on constance.
I usually have her in warlock for bonuses to her black magic and double bolting castings, and then gremory for extra movement. With bolting I really don't need the utility of dark flier, and it's very rare that she gets so far from the fighting that she'd need it anyway (usually very spaced out maps, like the lysithea/ferdie paralogue)
anyway i really like constance
the other wolves:
balthus has a cool personality but other brawlers just tend to perform better for me, like byleth and felix (and he directly lost to cyril in the vw run)
hapi is... another linhardt. she has the same magic growth as him, and also learns physic and warp. she was a good replacement on my last run when he got bad magic level up rng in the early game and never recovered. i take her thru bishop just to get more heals and warps, and then end in gremory. she does not get dark spikes
yuri is good. in my first run with him he was a trickster. i made him a dancer last run and with sword avoid nothing can hit him. i wanna try the war master crit build i heard about.

there's a tendency i've noticed and grown more irritated by in online gay/trans spaces over the years (and i'd like to think it's largely attributable to very young and/or very newly out people but who knows), towards discomfort with and dismissal of any nonconformity and/or self-expressed fucky feeling about their own gender/sexuality from people who (at least publicly) ID as cishet. and that's usually expressed as a sort of friendly 'i didn't know they were gay'/'🥚'/etc that despite good intention is still a dismissal that amounts to claiming you somehow know the person better/more correctly than they themself do.
(and like even if you're 'right' and the person is closeted/just doesn't want to disclose specifics to you the presumption is still fucking rude and has the potential to make them further closeted! i've had similar experiences myself and they made me want to just never interact with the person in question again!)
like it seems to me somewhere in between not getting that it's inappropriate to decide/'headcanon' the identity of a real life person like a fictional character (e.g. weird idol/band fans and rpf people) and discomfort with sharing experiences with someone who IDs differently than you. probably depends on the instance and the person doing it. regardless it frustrates me

I dont understand what compels people (specifically my neighbors) to ruin a nice morning with fucking power landscaping tools. Its like they revel in the noise of it or something; theyll walk around carrying leafblowers from place to place without even bothering to turn them off. Absolutely infuriating and the #1 contributor to my greatest desire of living somewhere rural enough that i cant hear anyone else
#ive lived in plenty of rural places but theyve all been small groups of houses. so. villages i suppose#even that is too much. id like a least a mile between me and any single other person who isnt my fiance#like i can handle people and noises on occasion without it immediately gratibg on my nerves#but if i am at my House i need there to not be random people who can see me and who are making so much noise#literally maddening. cities were the biggest mistake humans have ever collectively made#i also think it would make the social interaction i actually enjoy (hanging out with friends) so much nicer#bc i wouldnt already be massively overwhelmed from Too Many Goddamn People All The Goddamn Time#anyway. its interesting to me that the pandemic made most people really appreciate being around other ppl in public#exact opposite for me. ive never loved being left alone more in my entire life#probably bc i was stuck in my apartment with my sister who wanted to hang out all day#and i just desperately wanted to be by myself and have some peace and quiet#and she always interprets me wanting to be alone with me specifically excluding her so she gets hurt#autistic to autistic noncommunication lol. we are autistic in the exact opposite ways

I really love the X Files, but it does drive me crazy when Mulder is immediately convinced that a supernatural explanation is more likely than a very very likely natural explanation. There's being open to the possibilities, and then there's forgetting that the real world exists...
Like in Sanguinarium (4.6). Everything about that hospital is begging for accidental patient deaths. Surgeons going in and doing procedures solo? No time outs? Patients left alone in ORs, already sedated? Doors that would be really hard to get through without breaking scrub?
Mulder thinks witchcraft is more likely than "a doctor mistaking a beer belly for a bald head", when the vast majority of surgical harm comes from simple but egregious mistakes - wrong patient, wrong procedure, etc. He really thinks it's that unlikely that a surgeon could've walked into the wrong OR? The ORs are identical, the patient is already unconscious, there's nobody else in there, and there's clearly no protocol in place to confirm surgical details before surgery begins. That set up almost guarantees a mistake like that. Plus the doctor had addiction issues and possibly hadn't been sleeping?
In episodes like this, Mulder is just as much a skeptic as Scully, it's just that he's skeptical about basic reality. And it really irks me! I love the X Files episodes where normal reality just doesn't add up to an answer and Mulder is able to figure it out because he's open minded and notices something other people have overlooked or dismissed. But when he looks at a completely comprehensible normal set up, deduces an elaborate supernatural plot for no apparent reason (or some incredibly tenuous reason), and then is proved right? Ugh.
#I know I'm being crotchety here#I just find it maddening when he goes 'this doesn't add up' but it actually does really easily#we're supposed to agree with him that it's odd but it just isn't#I'm def getting more worked up about this one because it's medical and that's my wheel house#whereas stories about fields I don't know as much about probably get past me unattacked lol#but come on#JCAHO is not certifying this hospital#there's really no need for witches here
