Do you think Lu Guang sometimes looks at Cheng Xiaoshi and only sees a corpse? Do you think at night he sometimes has to remind himself that CXS is breathing, that there is no blood on his hands, and he is not alone in the room? Do you think he still mourns for the Cheng Xiaoshi(s) he’s lost in other timelines? What do you think it feels like to grieve for a person who you can still see, and hear and touch? Do you think he ever stops himself from getting close because he feels guilt over the CXS he failed to save? Hanakotoba Analysis

In the first key visual for season 2 of the donghua, Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang are pictured alongside what seems to be pink periwinkle and spiderwort flowers. The spiderwort (Tradescantia) is also called the dayflower and is known as zǐ wànniánqīng shǔ (紫万年青属) in Chinese and the shirokusa (紫露草) in Japanese. The spiderwort flower is associated with immortality, optimism, and moral authority in English floriography because of its evergreen foliage and lasting flowers. Its hanakotoba meaning is platonic respect. In China, the spiderwort flower symbolises longevity and good luck. It is also utilised in pain-relieving medicine used to treat diseases. Conversely, the spiderwort flower can also symbolise transient happiness. The periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus) is also known as the Madagascar periwinkle, Cape periwinkle, or Rose periwinkle. The periwinkle is known as chángchūnhuā (长春花) in Chinese and nichiodoriji kusa (日々草) in Japanese. The periwinkle symbolises faith, trust, everlasting love, and purity in English floriography. This flower is associated with admiration, appreciation, new beginnings, and friendships. Periwinkles can also symbolise tender recollections and sweet or pleasing remembrances. Its hanakotoba meaning is pleasant memories. In China, periwinkles love, passion, nurturing and warmth. Memories and human relationships are a central part of Link Click as Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang co-own a shop called the Time Photo Studio where they use their powers that let them jump into photographs, live the events of the picture, and resolve past regrets. The deep friendship between its main cast is another central theme in Link Click especially the great lengths Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi are willing to go through to ensure the other’s safety and happiness. This ties in well with the periwinkle’s meanings of tender recollections, sweet or pleasing remembrances, friendships, and new beginnings. Every time they jump into a photo, they risk changing the past which has ultimately resulted in dire consequences for them both interrupting their halcyon blissful lives and trapping them in a seemingly endless cycle of loss. This ties in well with the spiderwort flower’s contradictory meanings of longevity and transient happiness.

Some extra link click headcanons while my longfic takes extra long to get written

Cheng Xiaoshi can't visit Qiao Ling's parents' house without getting inundated with groceries. He's thanking them for dinner --"Here, take the leftovers." He's putting on his jacket--"Do you want these extra pomelos we have? Take two. At least take one." He's putting on his shoes-- "Are you sure you don't need this extra 10 lb bag of rice?" He's walking out the door--"Wait, wait. You almost forgot to take the third pomelo."

The kid is surviving off of instant noodles daily though so honestly, they're so valid.

I have so many headcanons about baby Lu Guang that I may go into more depth in the fic but one of my favorite baby Lu Guang headcanons is that he LOVES frogs. OBSESSED with frogs. loved catching them, loved learning about them, loved tadpoles. he even raised some frogs as pets growing up (with varying degrees of success).

Aforementioned headcanon that he has beef with one of his cousins has to do with a pet frog.

Anyone who has read some of my fics has noticed that Cheng Xiaoshi has an affinity for black sesame. My headcanon is that's his favorite flavor of everything. Tangyuan, ice cream, sweet baos, soup, drink, cake, you name it.

Link Click Pokémon AU because by god im obsessed focuses mainly on the trio, but there's Shiguang too ofc

🐰Qiao Ling🐰 - Shiny Buneary - Cinderace

She loves bunny Pokémon, finding Buneary was a dream come true for her

Qiao Ling doesn't really nickname her Pokémon; she liked how there was 'bun' in both their names and didn't feel the need to change it {even after Scorbunny evolved}

She learned how to kick ass with Cinderace and they have mandatory self care nights every week {Buneary can also kick ass and is privy to these self care sessions}

Cheng Xiaoshi - Hisuian Zorua {Flashbang} - Female Meowstic {Lightbulb}

He named his Meowstic after the literal translation of Lu Guang's name bc he thought it looked like him

Cheng Xiaoshi isn't technically supposed to have Flashbang and he's not even entirely sure how he got it in the first place

But it's here to stay so Lu Guang lets it be with only minimal side-eye at first {it cuddles up to Lu more than Xiaoshi anyway}

Lu Guang - Male Meowstic {Audrey} - Natu {Soule}

His Meowstic is named after the author of "The Time Traveler's Wife"

Natu is named after the author of "The Oracle Year"

Lu Guang has had Soule the longest, since he was a baby and it was an egg [it always evolves right after Cheng Xiaoshi's death]

interactions & more under the cut :D {to keep this bitesize for scrolling past if pokemon aus aren't your thing ^^}

Jirachi is very attached to Cheng Xiaoshi, the way Celebi is very attached to Lu Guang and Victini is attached to Qiao Ling

They can't exactly have copious amounts of pokemon bc of their limited budget and living space, so they don't go out of their way to buy pokeballs. HOWEVER:

Qiao Ling has her pokemon in Heal Balls Cheng Xiaoshi has his pokemon in Friend Balls Lu Guang has his pokemon in Strange Balls

Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi didn't plan on having corresponding Meowstics, it was just something that happened before they met -> they met when Cheng Xiaoshi had just recently caught his as an Espurr

Since most of their pokemon are small and cuddly, they're not in their Pokeballs like- ever -> Cinderace isn't either, unless it's a more cramped environment

Cheng Xiaoshi's pokemon hide in his jacket when its cold -> If Lu Guang isn't around for some reason then Soule will burrow into the crook of CXS's neck until he gets back

Hi! Thank you for this ask, it's always fun to answer😊 So these are my current or most recent favorite ships:

Itafushi (Jujutsu Kaisen)

It's my number 1 right now, like i love them so much! Their ship is really cute and i love the contrast between them and how they work so well together as friends and more! I'm always giggling and shit when i think about them even if they're doomed by the narrative :(

Zolu (One Piece Live Action/Animanga)

I really liked their dynamic after watching the live action so i mainly ship opla! zolu, but any content of this ship is cute and catches my interest! This ship literally made me write fanfics again lol More Zolu please!

Miyusawa/Misawa (Ace of Diamond)

Miyusawa my beloved ❤️ The first time i watched this anime it had been an instant ship, their chemistry is amazing, the pitcher/catcher dynamic is chef's kiss and just the development of their relationship throughout the show was the highlight for me! I watched everything again recently and i still love this ship very much, fave fave fave :')

Shiguang (Link Click)

They are everything honestly! The angst of it all and their beautiful relationship is just aaaah and the show is INCREDIBLE?? Whether it's friendship or more, they love each other so much. In my head they're canon, i mean after what Lu Guang did, for me that's just proof of his love for Cheng Xiaoshi... they make me ill

Renga (Sk8 the Infinity)

Sk8 was the anime of the season when it came out, the serotonin was just high with this one, especially during covid time. Reki and Langa's friendship was the cutest thing to watch and it was so genuine and then ep 7 happened and the ship just sailed really hard for me! So many cute moments while a beautiful relationship blossomed in front of our eyes!! Love!!

Kazurei (Buddy Daddies)

A new favorite from last year! The premise of the show was so engaging to me when it first came out and even though i knew Kazuki and Rei weren't going to be canon, we were still fed so well? Like Queerplatonic, same-sex parentality, friends to lovers trope??? we got everything and more, especially last episode like omg they're canon idc!!

Dreamling (The Sandman)

Fell in love with this ship instantly with just one episode and little content... the fandom got my back though, i was well fed and shipped them even harder thanks to all the fanarts and fanfics! i want season 2 right now and more of them!!

EmiSue (Dickinson TV)

Not my first wlw ship but definitely my favorite! From the first episode i knew they were soulmates and i wanted more of them together! The show gave us everything we wanted and i'm glad i got to witness it :)

Satosugu (Jujutsu Kaisen)

They're not Itafushi but they are Itafushi in some ways?? like parallels we can't ignore. It's a big ship in the fandom but i'm not as invested as many stsg shippers are, though i really like the ship, i read fanfics about them and i love their story in the first part of season 2! So much angst though...

Nobamaki (Jujutsu Kaisen)

I love them together, i think their ship is cute and has a lot of potential! I don't obssess with them enough and i should read more fanfics, but they're amazing so they stay at the top of my list!

Other favorites but not current (or more like 'not in an obsessed phase' type of way): Villaneve, Hannigram, Narlie, Willex, Thominho, Kagehina, Daisuga, Asanoya, Kuroken (I watched Haikyuu again so yeah), Furuharu, Sanarai...

Accusation

Link Click fic 3!!!! Ahhh I’m obsessed with them. I included Qiao Ling once again because she makes this group.

Warnings: This fic contains tickling so if that’s not your thing keep scrolling ❤️

Summery: Lu Guang accuses Cheng Xiaoshi of something. Lu Guang gets a taste of his own medicine. Chaos.

With those two boys around, the shop was in constant chaos. Qiao Ling had just come down the stairs that morning, still rubbing sleep out of her eyes, when she nearly fell over. It was a rushed blur with black hair followed by a blur with white hair.

“QIAO LING SAVE ME!!” Cheng Xiaoshi cried in a high pitched panic. He let out a shriek as Lu Guang nearly caught onto his varsity jacket.

They played cat and mouse around the living room as Lu Guang was hot on the raven heads trails.

Qiao Ling sighed. Although she was annoyed, she couldn’t help the grin on her face. It wasn’t really home unless those two were behaving like cats and dogs. She had to admit it added to the quiet atmosphere of the photo shop.

Soon Cheng Xiaoshi made a break for it up the stairs, and they were soon out of sight. Suddenly the landlady heard a loud thump.

She then grew worried. What was Lu Guang going to do to him? What did Cheng Xiaoshi even do? And what was that thump upstairs?

She suddenly heard an explosion of uncontrolled high pitched cackles.

Qiao Ling then understood immediately what was happening now. She made it up the stairs to see Lu Guang having pinned Cheng Xiaoshi, squeezing and massaging at his hips vigorously.

“Where is my book!!!???” Lu Guang yelled. “IHIHIHI TOHOHLD YOHOHOHU IHIHIHI DOHOHNT KNOHOHOW!!!” Cheng Xiaoshi writhed, pulling uselessly at his wrists.

“BULLSHIT!” And he went for his stomach now, unleashing his most brutal attack yet, making the raven head squeal and his laughter intensify.

Cheng Xiaoshi then noticed Qiao Ling watching from the side. “QIAHAHAO LIHIHING HEHEHEHELP!!!”

She considered this for a moment. If she helped Cheng Xiaoshi, he would be even more in her debt than he already was for her helping him. But if she did help him, Lu Guang might end up going for her next in revenge. But then, Lu Guang wouldn’t possibly attack a women like that, right?

She saw that Cheng Xiaoshi seemed to be really struggling and she started to feel pity for him. She decided she needed the guy alive in order for him to fulfill his debt promise.

From behind, she dug her fingers into Lu Guangs sides and, he bursted into his rare giggles, immediately retracting his hands from Cheng Xiaoshis body reflexively to protect his own. He fell back into Qiao Lings arms as she wiggled her fingers.

In that moment of weakness Cheng Xiaoshi managed to slip free under him and sat on his legs to further pin him down.

“Thanks landlady,” he grinned, “now this can be a little more fair.”

“Ihihidiohohot hohohow ihihihis thihihis fahahair?!” Lu Guang protested, trying to squirm away from Qiao Lings hands.

“Because you know I’m more ticklish than you and that I don’t stand a chance by myself. I need backup to help me out here if I’m going to take you down!”

Cheng Xiaoshi started digging into his hips. “How’d you like that huh? Not so fun when you’re the victim!”

Lu Guang bucked his hips and began laughing hysterically. “NOHOHO PLEHEHEAHSE!!!”

“Aww what’s wrong Lu Guang? Can’t take what you dish out?” Cheng Xiaoshi teased.

“IHIHIHI JUHUHUST WAHAHANT MY BOHOHOHOOK BAHAHAHAHACK!!!”

“And I told you I don’t have it!” Cheng Xiaoshi insisted once more.

“Wait you mean that book? The one I saw next to the coffee table?” Qiao Ling interjected, stopping her fingers.

Cheng Xiaoshi stopped tickling also and looked down at Lu Guang.

Lu Guang looked sheepish now. He had jumped to conclusions.

“Lu Guang…”

“Um.. sorry about that.”

Uh oh… this could get pretty ugly.

“I think this calls for some serious pay back, don’t you think Qiao Ling?”

“W-wait…”

“Yeah you’re right Cheng Xiaoshi.” Qiao Ling grinned, now seriously getting caught up in the playfulness of the situation. She took his arms and grabbed them, holding his wrists above his head

Cheng Xiaoshi then began attacking his worst spot, digging into his top most ribs.

Lu Guang felt as if electricity was being spread all over his body. He convulsed at the intense sensations.

“WAHAHAHAHAIT NOHOHOHO!!!” He threw his head back and became lost in hysterical cackles. He struggled at first but soon became weak and just lay there to take it.

“PLEHEHEHEASE IHIHIM SOHOHOHORRY!!!” He attempted to push his arms away but it was really no use. Cheng Xiaoshi had him good. He also occasionally went under his shirt to get his belly as well. It didn’t help that Qiao Ling was tickling his neck, which made him uncharacteristically squeal and try bringing his shoulders up to attempt to trap her fingers.

Soon his laughter went almost silent and the two noticed he was starting to have a lot of trouble breathing.

They both let him go and he could do nothing but curl in on himself and try to catch his breath.

“Ihihi hahahate yohohu guhuhuys…” He managed through his excess giggles.

“Awe but you love us!” Cheng Xiaoshi teased, poking the white haired boys red flushed cheek.

He was a lot more careful of accusing others from then on.
