https://www.tumblr.com/threecheersforinking/677824836625694720/anime-ask-game?source=share
For anime/manga : Buddy Daddies, Link Click, Mob Psycho 100, and Jujutsu Kaisen.
Thanks 🌻
Hello! Sure, let's do this! I'll answer this here instead of reblogging the post so i can answer you directly :)
Sorry for the late reply, I forgot this in my drafts 😅
Ask Game idea from @threecheersforinking
Buddy Daddies
Favorite Character: Rei :3
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: Episode 8 is my favorite and i love the scene from ep 6 where Kazuki says Miri has their genes, it's hilarious
Character I Think is Underrated: Miri i think, mostly because of the criticism about her character
Character I Think is Overrated: probably Rei, but nah is properly rated
Favorite Ship/Pairing: Kazurei (obviously!)
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: I love how real this anime was despite the whole assassin side story lmao
Link Click
Favorite Character: Cheng Xiaoshi but Lu Guang is really close
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: I really liked the earthquake arc even tho it was sad af and I liked the noodles episode, it was really cute
Character I Think is Underrated: maybe Xiao Ling
Character I Think is Overrated: no one
Favorite Ship/Pairing: Shiguang
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: The animation and the plot, season 2 was amazing in terms of plot development👌🏾
Mob Psycho 100
Favorite Character: Kageyama Shigeo aka Mob
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: the arc with the scar organization in S1 is my favorite and also the arc at the beginning of season 2 (can't remember the names of these arcs lol)
Character I Think is Underrated: hmm idk maybe Tome
Character I Think is Overrated: Rengen. Don't get me wrong he's great, I really like him, but I don't really get the fans going crazy over him tbh
Favorite Ship/Pairing: I don't really ship but Terumob would be cute
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: the development of the protagonist is top notch!
Jujutsu Kaisen
Favorite Character: Megumi
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: I like the arc in season 1 with Junpei and I really like the scene when Megumi fights Sukuna to bring Yuji back, but there are many scenes I liked in season 2, it was just too sad as a whole
Character I Think is Underrated: Inumaki I'd say idk (but I'm not a manga reader so it's just my perspective as an anime watcher)
Character I Think is Overrated: I love him but definitely Gojo
Favorite Ship/Pairing: Itafushi 🥺 and Nobamaki
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: I love the characters and their relationships, how it's not only action but there's a lot of humanity to it too!

So Here's my final Bucchigiri review!
Overall a fun ride, but something is missing.
I give it a 6.8/10.
First time I saw the teaser and trailer for this l was so curious because the visuals looked amazing and I couldn't wait to see it. When I finally watched it, I have to admit I was disappointed, not because I thought it was bad, but because I thought the plot would be something completely different, especially judging Utsumi's previous works. I wanted it to be my new Buddy daddies, but alas.
As I mentioned before, I noticed some problems in the pacing and writing which, in my opinion, affected the quality of the show. But what I really enjoyed was how entertaining it was. The comedy seemed just right, the running gags were okay, and just the vibe in general worked for this universe they created. The 1001 nights lore was really well used!
I liked how this anime subverted my expectations and played with the shonen genre and overused tropes, that was definitely the fun part. There were some very good parts and metaphors that I think elevated the show and gave it something special.
But with this finale, you can clearly see all the things that the show lacked, more so in the writing. Ichiya's motivations were nonsensical and it didn't justify manipulating a teenager or killing him just to fight his former bestie. Arajin has such a rocky development and seeing him the exact same at the end felt kind of useless after his face off with Matakara. Added to that, the genie lore that doesn't make sense even with the great metaphor of being a Honki person and some plot holes here and there that are hard to look past. It almost feels like the people working on this project were not fully invested in developing the world more or the characters, just enough to keep the audience guessing. For me it was like eating something good but lacking in seasoning. I wanted more SEASONING, and not just salt and pepper (ok I'll stop with this analogy 😂) but yeah something more consistent.
I didn't expect something incredible though, so in terms of ending it did do the job and overall gave us something more than satisfying for what it was.
I had fun watching Bucchigiri and getting involved in the fandom! Though I have conflicted feelings about this show, it made me watch until the end so that means they did a good job making the audience interested and see its potential.
If there is a season 2, I would probably check it out of curiosity, but I think it'd be better to just end on this note and move on...

Let's do a ship poll now!
Ok here's another one! It's based on the ships I've seen in the tag, twitter or ao3. I was curious to know which one people ship more 🤭

Would you say that Bucchigiri is Utsumi's sophomore slump (coming off of SK8)? I was hoping for so much from this one, and yet it seemed like she and Taku Kishimoto were making so many wrong decisions here during its production. MAPPA's influence probably didn't help matters either.
Well, according to Utsumi from the Spoon 2.di article I read, she didn't really know what to make with this one so it was kind of a group project. She really wanted to make SK8 and she asked for pretty much all the staff that worked with her on it personally. It was very much a passion project for her.
For this one this one she said she was already making SK8 and didn't know what to make when they asked her to make another original series, so she discussed it with the producers at MAPPA and they all agreed on a yanki show, and then it took them a long time to decide on the Arabian Nights theme after that. She suggested a few different ideas and the other producers decided they liked the Arabian Nights theme best. She was assigned Kishimoto to be the writer, but she hadn't met him before. Things like that.
Here's something from the interview with Kishimoto in Spoon 2.di 107
Q: Kishimoto-san, it seems that you initially proposed a bit cooler story but Utsumi-san asked you to add some comedy to it. How did you feel when you heard that request? A: If I had to say, I've had a lot more work reorganizing and rearranging the structure of manga to adapt it into an anime. I'm not the type of person who naturally has a lot of stories and characters bubbling out of me, so when I make things I unconsciously drift toward making formulaic stories of cool heroes who always win. When I do that though, the characters I make are very stereotypical, and so when I submitted the first draft to director Utsumi and MAPPA's Otsuka-san, they said "The flow of the story is good, but the characters feel really stereotypical." It was then I was asked, "What were you like when you were Arajin's age?" I wasn't good-looking, so I figured if I just directly confessed to a girl I liked I'd be rejected, and so I thought I had to try even harder than other people. I'd give girls poems, and if that didn't work I'd carve the girl's name into a stone and give it to them, and I made it my goal in life to make that girl love me. So I told them I really couldn't be used as a reference for anything. But when I said that, they said "That's so interesting!" I felt like someone like that could never be a main character, or rather, since I was rejected for being so creepy in real life, after all (lol). I had ruled it out because I felt like it would be crazy to have a main character who acted like that! But the two of them said it was interesting, so Arajin's weird parts became my weird parts and by adding my weird parts into him, it naturally became a comedy. So, rather than trying to write a comedy or making it become a comedy, I just added my own silly parts in order to give the character a personality, and it ended up developing into that because of the character's personality.
So the whole reason Arajin is who he is (someone everyone hates lol....) is because he's based off Kishimoto himself. I don't know what the story was like before but I really can't agree the flow of the story is good now... but yeah.... that's how we ended up here.

You know, watching episode 11 of bucchigiri, it was very difficult to see Zabu being beaten like that, poor thing. I wonder how they are going to end this story with just one episode, there are a lot of meaningless things I think I only see three alternatives. 1. an open ending with Matakara and Arajin making peace but going their separate ways (matakara) and maybe a 2nd season with arajin trying to get him to be a honki again. 2. Matakara and Arajin don't make peace and are murdered like Senya and Ichiya and they turn into geniuses and try to fight again like Senya and Ichiya. 3. For me, I most wanted Matakara's brother not to die and return and save Matakara from ruin. What worries me in the end is how they are going to make an acceptable and good ending for Matakara because he did a lot of bad things. What worries me are the consequences. sorry for the text.
It's difficult to know what ending we're gonna get tbh, the writing has been a little bit chaotic at times so I just hope it will all make sense!
I don't think it'll end in tragedy, their fate is linked to Senya and Ichiya but their destiny will be totally different. I'm leaning towards your first option with the open ending and Matakara and Arajin making peace and going their separate ways. But I don't expect a second season, it's pretty rare for original shows to get renewed.
Though, I want Matakara to go to therapy lol 'cause he's not coming back from that alone. Unless, as you said, Mitsukuni miraculously survives and saves his brother from darkness.
That being said, the theme of this anime is love so I guess we'll see that there's still love between Matakara and Arajin whether they see each other as best friends, family or more. The reveal would be that Arajin kept his stone all this time and it would be proof of his love or something....

One of the things that confuses me in Bucchigiri is how the genie thing works?? Like we know now more about Ichiya and Senya, how they met, how they died, but not how they became genies. I guess they will show us that part in the last episode but I would have liked to know a little bit more earlier, at least the function of the wishes! Is it even a thing? 'cause Arajin's has still not lost his virginity and Matakara didn't really get stronger, he just borrowed Ichiya's power. We've seen that their wishes create a seal on their bodies and start the merging, well partially, but yeah it's not really clear or I just didn't get it.
I really need to know the rules because I don't think the wishes are actually meant to be granted, they seem to be just a tool for the genie to see if a host is worthy or not and if they have enough determination.
Anyway, I just find it weird that it's not the first thing they would explain at the beginning when it's a big part of the show...

It's sad that Ichiya didn't even realize how much Senya loved him. He thought he was holding back on purpose and mocking him by not fighting him for real, but I think Senya just didn't want their time together to stop.
The way he reaches for Ichiya's hand when he's dying even after he told him that he had a grudge against him, like Senya even said that Ichiya meant everything to him so losing him was worse than anything else 😭
You can't convince me he's not in love!! but why is Ichiya incapable of loving him back?
There's only one episode left but I wanted to see more of them, too bad they only gave us the lore at the end of the season 🥺

Do you think that in the end, even if Arajin manages to bring Matakara out of the darkness, they will still be best friends? because I feel like their friendship might not stay the same. You know, I don't want Bucchigiri to end with a rushed and poorly done ending. It would be very boring if they became friends again after everything Arajin did to Matakara.
I think that it depends on Arajin. Matakara would be willing to reconnect and start over, but we have yet to see if Arajin still even considers Matakara a best friend.
The crack in their relationship started way before Matakara lost it so I don't see them being super friendly again as if nothing happened, but I can see them getting closure at least.
But communication is key, if they talk about their feelings and truly understand each other, there will be hope for them and the show will end on a good note... It would be surprising if they ended up deciding that keeping their distance would be for the best 'cause I don't think that's the point of the show!

Here's a Bucchigiri poll just for fun!

Honestly the character designs are so good, very colorful and unique! But if I had to choose one character I would say Matakara. I also really like Marito and Hagure.
So let's see who's the favorite of this small fandom!

So random thought about Bucchigiri, what do you think will happen if Arajin got Ichiya not Senya? Do you think Ichiya can manipulate him like with Matakara? And what if Matakara got Senya, I think it will be a lot of fun....
You're right that show is far from peefect but it's a fun ride....
Oh that would be an interesting AU for a fic! 🤔
The dynamic between them would be completely different, that would be so fun! Ichiya being disgusted by Arajin's behavior or using his thirsty ass to manipulate him, meanwhile Matakara and Senya are just vibing.
Idk I need to think about it more to draft a fic out of this, but I think Ichiya wouldn't even bother to merge with Arajin tbh 😂

Animanga that exceeded all your expectations: hmm probably Mob Psycho 100, i thought it was only gonna be a comedy at first but the angst man, everything was so good even better than I thought! I was also really surprised by the anime Overtake! which was stunning visually and captured my heart.
Unpopular animanga you really love: Wind breaker! I think the manga is not really popular yet. Maybe it will once the anime comes out. But yeah, it's kinda been my guilty pleasure 'cause it's not what I would normally love.
Favorite romance: The Beauty Inside movie 2015, such a beautiful movie and I don't usually like romance, but this is one of my favorites among a few. Ore Monogatari is fricking cute too, I loved it!

Next in your read list: too many books to read... I'm an editorial assistant so I always buy books and have no time to read them all 😭 But anyway, I've bought some manga recently so imma read Wind breaker vol.8 and then Yomi no Tsugai (2nd and 3rd volumes)
Favorite antagonist: Moriarty from Sherlock bbc idk

my thinking is a little silly but arajin being the only one who wants to lose his virginity is a little hilarious because the other guys just want to fight. I always realized that maybe the writers did that on purpose Will Arajin's desire change?
What's even more funny is that all this fighting is linked to love, for me it's a metaphor, like the group date for example, but Arajin ignores it completely. A bit ironic for someone who wants to lose his virginity lol
But anyway, I think Arajin's wish is definitely going to change at the end and it might be related to Matakara...

I saw a theory on reddit about maybe Arajin having suffered child abuse in relation to his father, you know, I don't know if the anime goes this way but I'm a little incredulous about this theory because it's a sensitive topic of triggers. Sorry, send this question, I know this topic is a little sensitive, but I really like your analysis. I would appreciate it if you answered. If you can't answer, I'll understand too.
Thank you for the ask and for taking an interest in my opinions about the show, I'm glad you like my analysis :)
There's no mention of Arajin's dad so I don't really know if that would be a solid theory. Well, I think in ep 10 his mom talks vaguely about his dad when they have a discussion about 'someone taking over his body' and she says something about her and his father as an example of love between two people and wanting to have s*x lol but yeah, other than that, we know nothing about where he is or if he's still alive. And her mom still has her wedding band so idk, he could be working abroad, who knows.
But yeah, don't think that's the case, it doesn't mean Arajin couldn't suffer from child abuse but he doesn't seem to have the signs... Maybe his father represents an unrealistic depiction of masculinity and he was too self-aware of not conforming to the social expectations and his insecurities come from wanting to meet those expectations? I'm just throwing things out there, not really analyzing anything, but I guess we'll see at the end what his inner conflicts truly are other than being weak. I was also thinking that if his father died and he didn't get to really grieve maybe that's why he was so dismissive about Mitsukuni's death, because he's also in denial about his father's passing, but yeah I didn't want to get in a full analysis, maybe another time haha

When watching Bucchigiri, I kinda feel that the show is too gay and too straight at the same time.. Do you feel that way too?
So disapointed with this series....Wish if it were SK8 s2 instead that aired, right? Oh, are you a fan of anime Free?
Well yeah kinda 😂 I like the queer subtext if that really is the intention but I wanna see a shonen anime really tackling LGBTq+ themes without shying away just because of censorship. I mean some bl animes are pretty popular so it's disappointing that they're not able to show us anything explicit in mainstream shows.
To be honest I was disappointed too in the anime when I watched the first two episodes, it was not what I expected but I gave it a chance because I really loved the concept and the character designs, it was esthetically appealing, so I don't regret continuing watching the show. It has its flaws, but I'm still here so it was entertaining enough for me.
Sk8 the infinity was really good, I liked it, but it's not the same studio and we are going to get a season 2 anyway so I'm not complaining. Both shows have their own things and I don't mind having the two airing. I enjoyed watching Free as well, though it took me some time to finally finish it 😅

So yeah, here's what I predict will happen next episode: Shindo will trick Arajin into releasing Senya from his body after revealing what Senya's true motivations are (after he tried everything to change the subject) much like how Jafar was able to steal the lamp from Aladdin. Shindo will hold Senya captive in the same bullet that shot into Arajin's head during the premiere. Matakara, completely possessed by Ichiya, will dispose of Ken and take over Minato Kai, then challenge Siguma's leader to incite a gang war. That will be enough to lure Arajin out (since he still only cares about Mahoro) so that we get their battle because everyone believes that Arajin has stopped a gang war before and he can do it again, and it's going to be a brutal one-sided fight that will cause the rest of the cast to turn on Arajin when they all discover that he's been using a genie for that power he displayed back there, not just Matakara. After all, their behavior throughout this series showed how both of them are so ill-suited to become genies because they are neither "strong" nor "pure" to fit that criteria.
Also, believe me. Shindo will clearly take advantage of the fight between Arajin and Matakara as they let out every single frustration they've had towards each other, and steal Ichiya for himself so he can be the top dog once more with both genie bullets in his possession, only for this to completely take over him when he tries to shoot both bullets into his body, turning him into a Honki monstrosity. It feels like everything's falling into place, especially after I know what Jafar did in Aladdin when he stole the lamp. Hell, he even did the whole disguise thing when he slips a paper into Arajin's pocket to meet him another time, revealing then how Senya only wants to control him, perhaps so that he can selfishly fight Ichiya again.
Sorry, I'm late replying to this! It's actually an interesting theory even if with the recent episode we saw how everything turned out. But you have analysed the situation pretty well and the characters' motivations. Well, except Shindo who only seems to want Ichiya defeated.
I'm curious to see after ep 10 what is going to happen. We know that Arajin and Matakara will fight at some point and through them Senya and Ichiya could fight, or Arajin might stop Matakara before it's too late. I mean, there are different paths the story could take, I'm really looking forward to it!

I think it would be the biggest plotwist if: matakara ended up with mahoro at the end. Matakara didn't forgive Arajin senya and ichiya were a couple but they had a disagreement and broke up.
I mean sure, but Senya and Ichiya being ex-boyfriends wouldn't be a plot twist 😏

I will speak a vision that I always had of bucchigiri matakara and arajin were never friends I think they were neighbors and played together but matakara created an illusion about arajin this is a vision that I always had.
And I’m sad 'cause matakara really lost his brother
No, they totally fell in love and promised to get married when they were younger, but Arajin forgot about everything or pretends he forgot 🤭
Lol but more seriously, that could be interesting. That Matakara idealized their relationship too much and they were never that close to begin with, but it would be sad ngl
