1010 (or just Rin if all of 1010 is too much) with an S/O that's a stump. Tiny, short, 5"0-5"5 bean, just mega short
And I thought, “Oh hey, that’s me.” Anon would it surprise you to know that I have a number of friends who are even shorter than that?
Rin/White:
Just loves the height difference between you, and he loves if he can use it to fluster you.
When he hugs you, he lets you lean your head on him and will pet the back of your head.
He often holds you in some way while he kisses you. He likes to tilt your chin up and lean down to kiss you, or to pick you up and kiss you.
When you’re cuddling, he likes holding you in any way, just to feel you in his arms. One of the advantages of cuddling laying down is he can nuzzle your hair, and you two can have your faces close, so you nuzzle his hair or kiss him without having to ask him to lean down.
WILL dip you when you dance together, even if it doesn’t fit the style.
And while he can be very sweet, he’ll tease you too. Everyone make sure Y/N is in the front of the group photo, otherwise we won’t see them >:)
.
Haym/Yellow:
Of the five of them he’s the most relentless about teasing you: purposely setting things he knows you’ll need where you can’t reach it, holding something out of your reach when you ask him to hand it to you, making comments about your height.
Sometimes he’ll come up behind you, lean down, and hug you from behind and put his chin on top your head.
He likes to taunt you about how you have to get his attention for a kiss when you’re both standing, but really he thinks whatever it is you do – tugging his sleeve, calling his name, anything – is very cute. He can’t tease you much because he’s excited to give you a kiss!
Will find any excuse to pick you up and/or carry you.
.
Zimelu/Red:
It may be surprising but he actually is the least likely to tease you about your height at any time. He still does it though. Typically when he teases you it’s because you can’t reach something or see over something.
He always helps you though. You can’t reach something? He’s getting it down for you, or if you want he’ll lift you up to it. Then he’ll ruffle your hair right after. Can’t see over a wall or people? He’ll let you sit on his shoulders.
His teasing is pretty light, mostly saying things like “You’re so lucky I’m here to reach the top shelf” or “What’s up, can’t see ‘cause everything is bigger than you?”
He thinks it’s super super cute how small you are compared to him. He loves pulling you into a hug and how your head is barely at his chest.
He has a tendency to use your shoulder like an arm rest, both to taunt you a bit and because he just likes having that contact with you (and you’re a good height to put his arm on).
Likes to make you look up at him before he leans down to kiss you. Also enjoys giving you forehead kisses.
.
Purl-Hew/Blue:
If he sees you struggling to reach something and you don’t know he’s noticed you, he absolutely will put off saying or doing anything just to watch you struggle. Whether you climb on chairs and countertops, or you stubbornly stand tiptoe and stretch as much as you can, he just thinks it’s amusing how hard you try to do it yourself before seeking help. And he finds it cutely funny whether you shyly ask him for help or complain when he comes over on his own to help. Likes to tease you just to watch you get huffy about it.
Likes to lightly rub your head and move any hair from your face before giving you a forehead kiss.
He also will tilt your chin up when he kisses you, and will keep his hand there to hold you in place and see you flustered after.
In a crowd he’ll keep a hand on you and will push his way to the front so you can see.
When other people are around he tends to tease you a little less and protect you a little more. He has a tendency to actually comment on how he finds your height cute or just to say that he loves you if somebody else makes fun of your height.
.
Eloni/Green:
Picking you up all the time. It’s just so fun to him. So that means picking you up to carry you, picking you up for kisses, picking you up in a hug.
Like Haym, he likes to stand behind you and put his chin on the top of your head. Maybe rock a little bit,
Teases you about your height often, but in quick, lowkey comments.
Likes to sit you on his shoulders and carry you around that way as well! Might make motor noises and run around while he does this if it makes you laugh.
While he finds it adorable when you cuddle on him, he also likes cuddling against you and laying his head on you.
He’ll help you with things you can’t reach, or if you can’t see over people, but he’ll tease you a little bit as he does it.
Any of them would find your height cute! But make no mistake, they still find you mature and endearing too! And while they all like to tease some amount, if it bothers you, they won’t make any comments.

maybe slice of life headcannons with grellrin?? 💕
I'd be happy to! These ladies own my heart. >w< Doing these for a modern human AU!
Although Mey Rin never received formal musical training, she has a sweet, pretty voice, and often sings to herself when she's puttering around the house or in the shower. Grelle will listen to her sing with a hopelessly smitten grin on her face. Although Mey Rin gets flustered when she realizes Grelle overheard her, Grelle just gushes about how amazing she is ("You far outclass those silly little pop stars, darling!") til Mey is a blushy mess and hides her head in her hands.
One of Mey Rin's hobbies is making craft jewelry, and she'll often give Grelle a pretty new necklace, set of earrings, etc. on important anniversaries. She also likes taking Grelle to quirky antiques stores, vintage clothing shops, and indie book stores, and the ladies rarely leave empty-handed.
When the weather's nice, they ride their bikes together through their neighborhood. Grelle's is a flashy red one, while Mey Rin's bike is a sparkly pink with a wicker basket and rainbow streamers.
Although it took a few years to really get it growing, they have a little vegetable garden out back behind their house. Mey Rin does most of the weeding (Grelle is horrified at the thought of ruining her nails), but Miss Sutcliff helps out, too. She also made a few pairs of gardening overalls for Mey, with cheerful flowers and hearts sewn on to add a little something extra. If Grelle does say so herself, the wife looks very cute in them! >w<
Grelle is an accomplished pianist and plays regularly; not only is music a great emotional outlet for her, it's also an excellent way to flirt with Mey Rin. ;) If Mey's around, she'll come over, sit down, and shyly lay her head on Grelle's shoulder. Miss Sutcliff melts every time.
I headcanon that Mey Rin has anxiety, which can make grocery store runs, socializing, or unanticipated life stressors quite harrowing for her. If Grelle is with her, she tries to serve as a buffer, holding Mey's hand, putting her arms around her, talking her down, escorting her away from the situation, or whatever else the other woman needs. And if Mey is on her own when she feels herself becoming overwhelmed, all it takes is a text or phone call for Grelle to come to the rescue.
Shortly after they started dating, Mey made matching charm bracelets for herself and Grelle, and they've worn them ever since. Mey Rin will add a new charm every time they reach a milestone in their relationship (going on their first roadtrip together, getting married, etc.).
On weekends, they'll go to the local park to have picnics next to a charming little pond with ducks (this was also the spot where they had their first kiss). Mey always brings some birdseed so that she and Grelle can feed the ducks together once they've had their own lunch.
Although Mey Rin isn't an assassin in this AU, she excels at competitive archery, and Grelle attends every match she's in, usually with a large, hand-painted sign in tow that she holds aloft while cheering Mey on. Mey Rin is equally supportive of Grelle's involvement in the local theatre scene, and attends every production her wife is in.
The two ladies enjoy playing paintball, whether on the same or opposing teams--and Mey is a crack shot! She loves Grelle, but that won’t stop her from getting her wife good if they’re on rival sides. >:3
One of my oldest Grelle headcanons is that the red lady loves breakfast for dinner. Keeping that in mind, Mey Rin and Grelle will occasionally stay up late making waffles or pancakes while playing some upbeat music in the background, or drive out to Grelle's favorite crêpe place when they don't feel like doing any cooking themselves.
Mey Rin learned to prepare various Chinese dishes from her mom, and often makes traditional treats for Grelle, including ones like the moon cakes and egg tarts shown in this artwork here by @champagnecake
They share a love for anime and video games, though Mey sometimes needs to bury her face in Grelle's chest/pass the controller to her wife during the extremely gory bits (since Grelle has a higher tolerance for that sort of thing).
Because owls are one of Mey Rin's favorite animals, Grelle likes to get her little owl-themed gifts (T-shirts, figurines, rugs), and Mey's collected quite a few over the years!
Between the two of them, these bi queens have a ton of pride merch--from cute buttons for Mey Rin's purse to a massive flag that Grelle placed on their lawn (along with a trans pride flag, of course). Unfortunately, since Mey Rin was raised in a very strict, conservative home, she wasn't really able to come to terms with her bisexuality until college...and even then, she struggled with those lingering feelings of guilt instilled by her upbringing. But watching Grelle unapologetically own her identity as a bi trans woman was incredibly inspiring for Mey Rin, and gave her the courage to embrace her queerness. And needless to say, Mey Rin is always on the lookout for trans pride items that she thinks Grelle would like!

No Fly Zone
If anyone’s relatively new (or wants a refresher), it might be useful to read this fic from the Prologue arc, where you can see exactly what goes on with Shayne’s foster family.
This is not really a sickfic, it’s mainly for comfort, character development and plot.
CW: implied mentions of grief, abuse, conditioning. Very slight touch aversion. Shayne swears quite a lot. There’s no emeto, but there’s angst and Emotions.
Swallow the World: The Ouija Board Pt. 9
They never thought to close the curtains, so the sun woke Shayne again as soon as it broke the tops of the trees and spilled through the window and across the floor to Charlie’s bed. He was lying on his back, so it fell right across his face, and he would have rolled over to block it out if he didn’t have a sleeping Charlie on him.
Shayne watched Charlie’s head rising and falling gently as he tried not to breathe too deeply and disturb him. He also dreaded to think about whatever noises were happening under Charlie’s ear; his stomach felt weird, like it was doing backflips inside him.
He found himself running his fingers across Charlie’s head for a minute or so, freezing when he felt the blonde boy shift slightly. He didn’t take his hand back, but he didn’t keep fiddling with his hair either; he just held his head, which felt just as awkward as it sounded.
“Morning,” came Charlie’s soft laugh.
“Good morning.” Shayne pushed his fingers a little more firmly through Charlie’s hair, now that he knew he was awake. He couldn’t remember saying good morning since he’d lived in this exact house with his birth parents; Madelyn and Watson were always sleeping while most people were starting their day.
Charlie started to sit up, eyes heavy with sleep, hair sticking up from where Shayne had been playing with it. The smile that crossed his face made Shayne’s heart skip a beat, but it quickly disappeared as Charlie turned his head and covered his mouth to hide a yawn.
Shayne started to sit up then too, eyeing Charlie carefully as he straightened himself. The screams he’d heard come from him still rang in his ears if he let them, and he had to suppress a shudder. He wanted to ask if Charlie was okay, but knew the uncertain answer he would get. Charlie might have been thinking that way too, as he eyed Shayne back with the same resigned worry.
“We should, um – we should text Rin,” Charlie said. His voice was so thick with sleep that he sounded drunk, or out of breath. “Let her know we survived the night.”
God, yesterday was such a mess in Shayne’s head that he couldn’t even remember when he’d last seen Rin. Or the vampires, for that matter. The more he thought about it, the tighter his chest felt, but it loosened again as Charlie yawn-yelled into his hands and rubbed at his face.
“My, uh, my phone’s downstairs,” Charlie mumbled when he’d recovered.
Shayne watched in fascination as Charlie climbed over him, positioning his legs at either side of Shayne’s on the way. He shouldn’t have been shocked, not after the way Charlie had huddled up on him after his nightmare, but somehow the closeness seem different in the light, in the calm.
“I can grab you a towel on my way back, if you wanna take the first shower?” Charlie smiled, stretching his shoulders. "Sound good?”
Shayne blinked up at him and his dishevelled hair, nodding shyly. “Yeah. Sounds good.”
 __
“Coffee’s almost done. Want some?”
Shayne mumbled something inaudible, even to himself, before crumpling into one of the chairs. He curled one elbow onto the dining table and rested the side of his head against it. Every muscle in his body felt like it was being massaged, his skin tingling pleasantly inside Charlie’s clothes. He’d been physically shaking and thought he might fall on the stairs, but now that he was sitting down, the trembling had eased to a slight humming sensation in his bones.
“Are you – are you okay?”
“Mmmmm. Hot showers. Amazing.”
Charlie gave a heavy-lidded frown. “Do you not have hot water at home?”
“I live with vampires. Cold blood. Cold water.” Shayne almost added cold hearts, but he cut himself off. The morning was too warm, and Charlie was too sleepy, for him to bring up anything like that.
“You should come shower here, more - more...” Charlie leaned on the shiny countertop, rubbing his face with both hands as he yawned yet again. He still hadn’t fixed his hair. When his gaze met Shayne’s again, he cut the yawn short with a laugh.
“More often,” he finished. “I seriously don’t function until I’ve had coffee. Why are you looking at me like that?”
Shayne tried to think of something to say while his stomach did another confusing little flip. “Your hair’s a mess,” he said. Weak, considering his own was wet and dampening his borrowed hoodie.
“And whose fault’s that?” Charlie grumbled as he started trying to flatten his hair down a bit. “Any better?”
“Nope.”
“I’ll shower in a minute anyway.” Charlie combed the hair out of his face with his fingers and gave up, folding his arms over his chest. He glanced to his left, towards the glistening touch-screen stove and the newly-fitted oven. “So, um – what, you used to help your mum bake in here, right? I’m still struggling to picture you as domestic in any way.”
A slow wave of grief drifted over Shayne’s head and shoulders, chasing out the deep relaxation in his muscles. A quick intake of breath made him feel a little steadier, and he lifted his head from his arm.
“Mmhmm, I mean –” He got up from the chair and made his way over to where Charlie stood, feeling like he was walking on clouds. “The kitchen’s been ripped out and put back in since the – the, um, the stove and everything used to be on that side.”
“Yeah?” Charlie followed Shayne’s gaze only for a second.
“Yeah, and the tiles weren’t white, they were brown and -”
Shayne’s heart skipped a beat as Charlie’s hand slipped into his. It was Charlie’s right hand reaching for Shayne’s right hand, and he felt himself slowly being pulled in front of Charlie.
“And dark green.”
Shayne’s throat fluttered. He was used to the handholding, and being close to Charlie when they were sharing a bed, but this was new and he didn’t even know what to call it.
Charlie gently pulled Shayne’s back against his chest. He looped his arms around his waist, hands crossing against his stomach. Shayne felt his hair lift despite being wet, his adrenaline spiking at the sensation of suddenly feeling bound and immobilised. Even if it was just by Charlie.
“I-I –” It was hard to concentrate, but he scrambled for words anyway. “I was short for my age, so I’d stand on a chair next to her so I could see what she was doing.”
“Cute. I can kind of picture it now.” Charlie hummed happily to himself as he tilted his chin upward and rested it lightly on Shayne’s shoulder. “I’m glad you’re still kind of short.”
“Fuck off,” Shayne mumbled, though he couldn’t help curiously turning his head to look at Charlie’s face.
He’d imagined putting his head next to Charlie’s from behind, just yesterday when he’d been sitting above him on the picnic table. He’d wondered what it would be like to get a whiff of his hair from that close, and now here he was, having just used Charlie’s shampoo himself.
Charlie’s smile shifted slightly, and Shayne closed his eyes before he could see what happened after that.
He sure felt it though.
One of Charlie’s hands moved up to his neck, fingers spreading apart to tilt his jaw and hold it casually in place while also making his neck and throat tingle. Charlie’s mouth pushed against Shayne’s, lips tugging at lips until they were both pried apart. Charlie’s other hand slipped under Shayne’s hoodie and t-shirt. Fingers glided across his just-washed skin, up his belly and over his waist, resting briefly against his chest while his heart pounded wildly.
Shayne had no idea what to do with his own hands, or with his tongue even, because Charlie’s was in his mouth, and it was moving -
It’s just a demon. This is what you are.
And he was being held and restricted -
Ungrateful shit, why can’t you just do it? This is what you’re for.
“Stop, stop, stop,” he gasped.
He shuddered out of Charlie’s embrace. His stomach was twisting painfully, and he put his hands on the back of a chair to stop himself from doubling over.
“Oh, god,” Charlie whispered. “I – I’m so sorry, Shayne –”
“What the fuck’s wrong with me?!”
Shayne slammed his hands down on the dining table. He went dizzy with anger and self-hatred, fear of damaging the table piled onto everything else. His teeth cut into his lip and the insides of his cheeks and he swallowed against the taste of blood. He felt like he was going to dry heave, but despite being painfully inexperienced in this kind of thing, he reckoned dry heaving after kissing just wasn't right.
“Nothing is wrong with you,” Charlie said quietly. That was the response he’d chosen to give to the question that Shayne himself knew was a pointless one. He had chosen to lie.
Shayne knew what was wrong with him. He knew what was wrong with Charlie. And somehow, he’d still let this happen.
“Shayne.” Charlie rounded the table, so he was in Shayne’s view again. He was squeezing his fingers together and pulling them apart repeatedly.
“Listen, please,” he said, “I – I don’t know what I was thinking, I –”
A sound rang out that made Shayne take a sharp, painful breath and duck his head even further. A clean, elegant shriek that could only be meant for him this time.
“Damn it,” he growled through clenched teeth. “Fucking damn it all.”
“Wh-who is that?” Charlie stammered, as though he’d heard it too. In reality, he’d probably just heard the crunch of gravel as a car pulled up outside the house. The colour leeched from his face.
“Elliott and his sidekick,” Shayne told him. “I’m getting rid of them.”
He slapped his palms on the table once last time before turning to leave the kitchen. He heard Charlie call out his name, but he ignored it. He was trembling all over, but it felt good to direct the mess of emotions and fears into something clear-cut like hatred. He let it solidify, dark and swirling, in his chest. He let it push everything else into a tidy knot in the pit of his stomach.
In the front hallway, he drew his fists across his face to get rid of a couple of tears. He widened his jaw with a crack that made his ears ring.
“Oh, I don’t fucking think so!” he yelled towards Elliott’s car as he opened the front door. “No fucking fly zone, assholes!”

Visiting a Pumpkin Patch--- MLFK
Halloween Countdown--- Day 6
Prologue: MC and her guy go to visit the pumpkin patch together.
Ayato: “You have some caramel on your face,” Ayato mentioned in between laughs. They were spending the day together at the pumpkin patch and were taking a break at one of the food stands. Wanting to try something different, Ayato and MC were decorating caramel apples for each other. MC didn’t even have a chance to wipe it off, before Ayato quickly cleaned her up with a kiss. “Ayato,” MC hissed, “What if someone sees us?” Ayato was proud of his relationship with MC and couldn’t have cared less if the paparazzi or one of his fans saw the two of them together. After they finished the treats, Ayato grabbed MC’s hand, and started to lead her to the old oak tree they had passed on their way in.
Ayato had led her over to the tree and pulled out a small knife. “Today, we are going to write our initials on this tree,” Ayato began to explain, “That way we can make a tradition to come back and this this pumpkin patch every year.” He began to carve, and once he was finished, he snapped a picture of the carving. Pulling out his phone, Ayato started to fiddle around, and MC curiously asked him what he was doing. “See for yourself,” he instructed while he handed her his phone. MC was shocked to see that Ayato had posted the picture to his various social media sites and bragged about how he had spent the day with the most important person in his life. Tearing up, MC wiped her face, and Ayato handed her his handkerchief.
“Now the whole world knows how special you are to me,” he whispered before surprising her with one final kiss, before beginning their search for pumpkins.
Rin: “Sit down or you’re going to fall off,” Rin lectured his over eager girlfriend. They had just finished selecting their pumpkins and were riding the wagon back up from the field. MC was bouncing around in excitement, when he noticed she had moved close to the edge of the wagon. He pulled her back to sit down by him, and blushed when she accidentally landed in his lap. Both blushed and MC quickly pulled away but had accidentally kicked one of the pumpkins over the side of the wagon in the process. “Oh no!” MC worriedly exclaimed, but Rin was quick to reassure her.
“It’s not a big deal tortoise shell,” Rin comforted her, “We can just go back out to the field and pick a new one.” MC angrily bit her lip in frustration. “I’m sorry Rin. I didn’t mean to throw off our schedule for the day,” she apologized while they caught the wagon heading back out to the pumpkins. “It doesn’t matter what we are doing, as long as I get to spend time with you,” Rin shyly admitted, “Plus, now I’m going to get to hang out with you for longer.” She smiled at him. Glancing around, seeing the pumpkins in the field suddenly gave her an idea. “Hey, what if we picked some pumpkins and made a cake later tonight?” MC proposed. Rin happily nodded and they began their search for the perfect pumpkin. Shortly after looking, Rin found the perfect pumpkin. “This one will be ideal for baking a cake. Thanks for knocking the other one over tortoise shell,” Rin laughed while planning out a cake that would really blow her mind away.
Ichiya: “They seem to have taken a liking to you,” Ichiya sneered, “Maybe because they think you’re one of their own.” Taking a break from searching for pumpkins, Ichiya and MC had decided to visit the petting zoo. The goats had immediately surrounded MC and he couldn’t help but love the flustered look she wore on her face. Ichiya just couldn’t resist the urge to tease her, when he felt something crash into him from behind. Startled, he turned around to find that one of the goats had headbutted him. The other goats had just noticed Ichiya, and they left MC to instead go encircle around Ichiya. She laughed and took a quick picture on her cell phone for future blackmail opportunities.
He was going to snatch her phone away and delete the picture, but the stupid grin on her face was enough to make him reconsider. Instead, he stood behind her, and placed the extra goat feed he had into her hands. Ichiya then supported her hands with his, and he gently nudged her towards the goats. “I’ll help you feed them,” Ichiya offered in a rare moment of gentleness, “Otherwise, you would probably just drop everything onto the ground and waste it anyway.” MC rolled her eyes, but nonetheless, allowed him to help her feed the goats. They finished up and went to go find their pumpkins but stopped when Ichiya felt a goat tugging on his shirt.
“Looks like you’re the one they think is one of their own,” MC laughed, “I don’t mind getting pumpkins later. We can stay here and visit with your extended family today.” Ichiya playfully swatted at her, but deep down was secretly happy he was now able to watch her prance around and enjoy herself. He discreetly snapped a picture of her when she was smiling and petting the goat and changed it to his screensaver. Satisfied with himself, Ichiya pocketed his phone, and returned to MC’s side while the pair enjoyed playing with the goats.
Makoto: “Makoto? Can you hear me?” Makoto looked in the direction the voice was coming from. “MC! I’m over here!” Makoto yelled back to her. They were exploring the corn maze, when he someone had gotten separated from MC. A similar situation had happened when they were children, and just like back then, MC once again was the one to come and rescue him. “There you are,” MC sighed with relief when she saw him, “I’m so glad I found you!” She reached out to take his hand and flashed him a small smile. “This way we won’t get separated again,” she promised as she squeezed his hand. The pair had started to navigate their way through the maze, when Makoto suddenly stopped her. He slipped his hand out of his jackets and wrapped the other half around her body. “Now we can really be stuck together,” he gently informed while snuggling MC close to him. True to his word, Makoto kept her within his grasp for the rest of their adventure at the pumpkin patch. There was no chance for MC to lose him again, and she couldn’t imagine having it any other way.
Riku: SNAP. The sound of Riku’s camera could be heard while he continued to photograph MC. They were visiting a pumpkin patch and he wanted to catch every single one of her expressions she was making. Her “in awe” face, to her “astounded” face, kept him feeling motivated. “Riki come look at how cute these two are!” MC shouted in excitement as she had finally found a pair of matching pumpkins that would be perfect for her and her boyfriend. SNAP. Riku snapped another picture before joining MC. “Let’s take a picture together,” MC suggested, and they posed to take some selfies. Once they finished taking their pictures, Riku grabbed the pumpkins from her to go pay, and handed the camera to MC so she could hold on to it.
MC couldn’t help but admire how handsome he looked, with the colorful autumn leaves on the trees in the background. She just had to capture this moment, so for once she turned the camera on him. Riku had noticed what she was attempting to do, so he swiftly and gently tackled her to the ground. The two wrestled around in the leaves, and Riku suddenly showed her his phone. Sometime during their playing in the leaves, Riku had taken a photo where they were happily smiling at each other. “I’m going to submit this picture into my portfolio,” Riku told her as she blushed slightly, “There isn’t a sight that’s more beautiful than you, when you’re naturally being yourself.” Before MC was able to respond, Riku kissed her on the lips and helped her to her feet. They began to leave the pumpkin patch, and Riku wished he could have a ongoing camera on MC, so he could capture every single moment he spent with his precious girlfriend.
Takamune: “Hey, you cheated!” MC exclaimed while scolding him. Takamune bit his lip and tried his best to suppress his laughter. They were at the pumpkin patch and he thought it would be funny to try and have a race to see who could push the wheelbarrows filled with the pumpkins the fastest. She surprisingly agreed, but when she began the countdown, he started to run before she could finish counting, which of course had resulted in his victory. He was watching her pout, and while he thought she looked adorable, he loved her smiling face even more. “I promise I’ll make it up to you,’ he assured, “Since we found our pumpkins, let’s go pick some apples together.” Her pout disappeared and Takamune reached out to grab her hand. They walked towards the apple fields and admired the orange leaves that were scattered throughout the grounds.
Finally, arriving at the apple trees, he couldn’t help but notice that MC was having a difficult time trying to reach the apples. He waited for her to ask him for help, but instead she continued to try and jump up and down a few times, before slumping her shoulders and admitting defeat. Wanting to help her out, Takamune crouched down, and waved her to come closer to him. “I’ll give you a boost,” he kindly offered, “Just climb on my shoulders.” MC’s face turned a bright red and before she could protest her refusal, Takamune swooped under her and placed her on his shoulders. “Taka! Put me down,” MC demanded, “People are going to see us!” Takamune ignored her and instead raised her up higher before stating, “Grab the apples first and then I’ll put you down.”
She finally gave in and picked the apples like he instructed. Once Takamune saw she had them, he safely put her down, and MC shocked him by leaning in to plant a kiss on his lips. “It’s your turn to be embarrassed,” she smirked while placing the apples in their bag. Takamune blushed and despite thinking it wasn’t possible, in that moment he had somehow fallen even more in love with MC.
Hiroki: She still has the same childlike innocence she had back when we were both kids. This was the first thought that came to his mind as he watched MC happily run through the pumpkin field. While she was running, she happened to trip and fell flat on her face. Her well-being was his priority, so Hiroki quickly sprinted over, and felt relief when he realized she was alright. “Graceful as always I see,” he teased before the sight of a slightly deformed pumpkin caught his eye. “This kind of reminds me of you,” he taunted before gesturing over to the pumpkin.
The truth was Hiroki wanted nothing more than take the pumpkin back to their place and watch her smile, while she had fun carving and decorating it. He would never admit that to MC though, and instead chuckled while she scowled at him. Playing the role of her knight in shining armor, Hiroki extended his arm and offered it to MC. “Shall we return home now my princess?” Hiroki proposed. MC linked her arm through his and Hiroki grabbed the pumpkin with his other hand. Hiroki never imagined he would be enjoying these childish activities, but he found himself eager to get home to start working on their soon to be jack-o-lantern together. Giving her hand a quick squeeze, he silently thanked MC for her persistence that lead them to become a couple, and how excited he now was to spend the holiday together.
Feel free to check out my Masterlist!

Comfort
Rating: K
Word Count: 2270
Pairings: RinMaki/NicoPana
Summary: Maki wants to stay inside all day, but when does Maki ever get what she wants?
Notes: Hey @fyorahime, so I’m your secret santa. Here ya go! Hope you enjoy it!
Maki had no plans on going outside. It was snowing and cold, which was why she was curled up in bed with two of her favorite things: a good book in her hands, and her girlfriend Rin snuggled up close to her. The covers were nice and warm, but having Rin and her body heat up against her made things that much toastier. It was a nice, calm day, where even Rin wasn't bouncing off the walls like usual. She didn't want to be moved from her comfortable spot, but when did she ever get what she wanted?
The doorbell rang, but Maki ignored it. The family housemaid could answer it. What was the chance it was for her, anyway? Apparently way too high, because it wasn't long before there was a knock on her door. "Miss Nishikino, two of your friends are here to see you."
"Tell them I'm busy." Maki didn't know which of her friends were at the door, but regardless of who they were, she didn't want to go anywhere. Who would be out there when it was so cold anyway? They should learn from her and just spend the day inside. Rin was pouting at her, though. "What?"
"That's mean, Maki! They came all this way to hang out with you, and you're turning them down." Why did Rin have to look at her like that? It was that cute, sad kitten face that she knew Maki couldn't resist.
"But... aren't we spending the day together?" She liked having time with just Rin. It wasn't a knock on the other members of Muse, but it always seemed like they were in a big group together, or in their subunits. Sometimes it was a bit suffocating. She just wanted some time with just her and Rin. That was something you were supposed to do when you were dating, right?
"Don't you want to at least see what they want?" Maybe it shouldn't have been surprising that Rin was saying that. She was definitely the friendlier one of the two. She smiled at Maki and gently nuzzled her cheek. "I promise that even if they stay over, we'll spend the rest of the night together. Just you and I." Her smile was too warm, too earnest. Maki could feel herself giving in.
"Alright... But you have to get up and make sure they haven't already been escorted off the premises." Rin nodded and bounded out of bed, running out of the room. It felt much colder without Rin by her side, but Maki couldn't help but smile. That was just how Rin was, after all. Now hopefully whoever was over just wanted to say something and leave right after that.
When Rin came back, she was followed by Nico and Hanayo. That made Maki sigh in defeat. Whenever Nico was involved, it was never a simple 'how do ya do?' There was always something she wanted to do, and if she asked Rin (and/or Honoka), she was sure to follow. They were all kindred spirits in foolishness, and somehow she and Hanayo were always being dragged along with said foolishness. Well, they'd said yes to dating Nico and Rin, so were they really blameless?
"I thought we'd find you two here!" Nico exclaimed triumphantly, putting her hands on her hips. "Hanayo and I challenge you to a snowball fight!" Hanayo just stood in the back and shyly tugged on her jacket sleeve, clearly having been roped into this by Nico. Somehow, Maki had a bad feeling that she was soon to meet the same fate.
"Nico, it's freezing outside. Who would willingly go out there in this weather?" Both Nico and Rin raised their hands. "Why am I not surprised?" Sighing, Maki fell back onto her bed, letting her head hit the pillow. "Come on, Rin. It's much warmer here in bed."
"Saucy," Nico remarked, which Maki ignored with a blush on her face. "C'mon Rin, you two gotta accept our challenge! Unless you're chicken?" Nico grinned as Rin's jaw dropped, looking very offended. "Mm, that's right. You two are a couple of chickens. Not even good chicken either. You'd probably be grilled chickens."
"You take that back!" Rin yelled out. "We accept your challenge!"
"I didn't agree to this!" Maki sat back up and crossed her arms, narrowing her eyes at Rin. "Do you really care that much if Nico calls you a chicken?"
"Absolutely!" Of course she did. Maki sighed again, something she did a lot when it came to the Idiot Trio. Throwing the covers off, she stood up and went to stand next to Rin, crossing her arms again.
"Alright, fine. We'll accept your stupid snowball challenge. But no longer than an hour, got it? I don't want to spend too much time out there." Nico and Rin flashed each other a thumbs up. It was okay, though. If it was only an hour, then it wouldn't be long before they were back in bed and cuddling. She just needed to get through this. Rin would be happy, then she would be happy. Perfect.
She and Rin bundled up as warmly as they could, then followed Nico and Hanayo outside, where Nico claimed they could just have a snowball fight in Maki's front yard. It was big enough, which was true, though Maki made sure to remind Nico that she'd be paying for any damages she caused to the property. Nico didn't seem so confident after that, so they ended up going to the nearby park instead. Maki had her driver take them there, because she wasn't going to walk all that way in such cold weather.
When they got to the park, Maki told her driver to come back in an hour. That would make sure there was no dilly-dallying. Then they all got out and walked into the park, where there were approximately no people. Who would've guessed that nobody wanted to be outside in this weather? Next time she was going to chain Rin to the bed so she physically couldn't leave next time Nico came knocking.
They set up on opposite sides, each pair standing side by side. Maki was resigned at this point to participating, and figured she'd at least try to do good, for Rin's sake. Nico started the countdown. "Alright, on your mark, get set, throw!" All four of them bent down to start making snowballs, with Nico and Rin able to make theirs first and hurl them across the way. Nico dodged out of the way of the one thrown at her, but her own throw was on target to hit Maki, until Rin sprung into action... by shoving Maki out of the way, right into the snow.
Sputtering, Maki pushed herself up and glared at Rin. "What was that for?!"
"I was protecting you from getting hit!"
"By shoving me into even more snow."
"Exactly!" This was going to be one of those days, wasn't it? Getting back up on her feet, Maki had to dive down again to dodge another snowball from Nico. Grumbling, she decided to stay on the ground and make another snowball instead. When that was done, she jumped back up and threw it. Her aim wasn't all that good, though, and instead of sailing towards Nico, it went after Hanayo, hitting her in the shoulder.
"Ooh, nice shot, Maki!" Rin grinned while Hanayo just stood there, shocked about something. Maybe it was that Maki actually hit her. Maki couldn't blame her: she wasn't known for her aim. Then, in the blink of an eye, Hanayo had hurled a snowball at a speed Maki hadn't thought possible from someone like her. It went right between her and Rin's heads, leaving them both stunned. "Uh oh, you made Kayo-chin mad. Scatter!"
"What do you mean scatter?" She looked towards Rin, who had already started running the other way. "Oh." Hanayo was already going down for another snowball, so Maki followed Rin's advice and started running in the opposite direction. It wasn't giving her a chance to make her own snowball for a return volley, but it was probably more important to not get nailed by one of Hanayo's heaters. Maybe she should've run the same direction as Rin, though. She would've been more knowledgeable about coming up with a plan.
Maki ducked behind a tree so that she could have a chance to defend herself. She rolled up a snowball and tried to calm her breathing, already feeling a bit tired from the running. Slowly she peered around the tree, trying to see where the others were. In the distance, she could see Hanayo and Rin tossing snowballs back and forth at each other. It seemed more playful than before, though. Nico, on the other hand, was nowhere to be seen. Where had she gone?
Ducking back behind the tree, she turned around and found Nico standing there with a snowball in her hand and a grin on her face. Crying out in surprise, Maki threw her own snowball right in Nico's face. When her heart stopped pounding a mile a minute, she realized what had happened and started to laugh. Nico, on the other hand, was not as amused.
"That was uncalled for, Maki."
"You're the one sneaking up on me." Maki stuck her tongue out, so Nico bent down to make another snowball, since her previous one had fallen from her hand. Deciding to stop teasing, Maki ran out from behind the tree and towards Rin and Hanayo, with Nico in pursuit. "Riiin!" Her cries reached Rin, who stopped with her hand - and snowball - in midair. Switching positions, she whirled around and hurled the snowball straight at Maki.
"Duck!" Rather than ducking, Maki halted her progress and jumped to the right, not wishing to dive face-first into the snow again. The snowball whizzed right by where her face had been, towards the one face still in range: Nico's. The snowball hit Nico and sent her sprawling into the snow. This stopped everything, and soon everyone was laughing. Nico got up on her knees and brushed the snow from her face, scowling at Rin.
Still laughing, Rin trudged over through the snow and offered her hand, which Nico rolled her eyes before taking. Rin helped her up, which finally got Nico to laugh. The truce was only temporary, though. The moment Rin had turned her back, Nico scooped up a handful of snow and dumped it on Rin's head. "Ah! Nico!"
"That's payback!" Nico's grin faltered when Rin grabbed her own handful of snow. Turning tail, she started running, with Rin in hot pursuit. "Can't we negotiate this?!"
"No negotiations, Nico!" While Rin chased Nico around, Maki and Hanayo just looked at each other and giggled. This seemed about right. At least neither of them were getting chased after. Somehow, though, both Nico and Rin got them to continue on with the snowball fight, and they ended up going half an hour past the hour that Maki had made them promise to stick with. In the end, Maki didn't mind too much, since Rin was having lots of fun. The driver just sat there and read a book for thirty minutes, so he was fine as well.
Eventually they all went back to Maki's place, where Nico and Hanayo were then taken home by the driver. Though Maki did somewhat consider just having Nico walk home. The house was nice and warm when they got inside, which Maki was thankful for. After all that time outside, though, she was still feeling cold, so she took Rin over to the fireplace and got a nice fire going so they could warm up together.
"This is nice," Rin purred, snuggling up as close as she could to Maki. "And it wouldn't feel so nice to be so warm if we hadn't been out there in cold, right?"
"That's one way of looking at it." Maki rolled her eyes, but she couldn't be mad at Rin. She just had a way of being too cute when she needed to escape getting an earful. Besides, Rin got to play around in the snow, and now they were back to cuddling up for warmth. That was what Maki wanted, anyway. Now hopefully there wouldn't be any more interruptions so that she could enjoy Rin's company in peace.
"Hey Maki?" Rin turned to her with a small smile. "I got a secret."
"Hm? What is it?" Maki glanced over at Rin, who leaned in closer to whisper in her ear.
"Well..." She held off for a bit of suspense, which was about to drive Maki bonkers. "I love you." Maki very quickly became a blushing mess, hiding her face against Rin's shoulder. "Ehehe, Maki's so cute!"
"Sh-Shut up! Don't say that..." It was still embarrassing when Rin said those kind of things, but that didn't mean she didn't like it. Her heart was always warmed to hear Rin said she loved her, more than even a roaring fire could. The fact that Rin still stuck with her despite some of her lesser qualities was a Christmas miracle in and of itself.
"You still love me, though." Rin grinned and hugged Maki tighter, knowing that Maki tended to have a tough time expressing herself. She could see the truth, though. Maki knew it too, but she wasn't too concerned about that. Maybe she was at first, but now she had a better handle on Rin, and there was a trust between them that continued to grow as they spent more time together.
"Yeah... I really do."

Sweeter Than Chocolate
Summary: Roses are red, violets are blue, I got you some sweets because I love you.
Notes:  Violets are blue, roses are red, I don’t have a date so I wrote this instead. In order to avoid any more bitterness on my part I’m just gonna say that regardless of relationship status, I hope you have a nice Valentine’s day full of sweet treats, whatever those treats may be and however you may have obtained them.
“Hello, Nico.”
Nico paused mid-chew to see Umi standing over her. Her hands were behind her back, which Nico found slightly suspicious. Nico swallowed the food in her mouth before smiling. “Hey Umi. What’s up?”
“I am sorry to interrupt your lunch like this, but…” Umi paused, a slight blush spreading across her features. “I figured it was a good time to do this.”
“Do what?” Nico asked, tilting her head.
“Just…I need you to come with me. We cannot do this in a full classroom,” Umi said as she turned to leave. Before Nico could see what she had behind her back she quickly shifted whatever it was to her front. Nico got up and followed, curious as to what her girlfriend was up to.
Eventually they found themselves in an empty classroom. Nico pouted. “So what’s the big deal?” She asked.
Umi looked down shyly. “I got these for you,” She whispered. She finally took out the object she had been hiding, a simple white box tied with a pink ribbon, and held it out toward Nico. Nico took the box and examined it for a moment before undoing the ribbon and removing the top. Inside the box were an assortment of chocolates. Nico smiled.
“Thanks, Umi,” She said before popping a chocolate into her mouth. Raspberry cream, and a damn good one too. She slowly savored the sweet before she noticed a folded piece of paper tucked into the side of the box. She reached for it quizzically and slowly unfolded it. What greeted her was wholly unexpected, and yet entirely predictable. In almost neurotically neat yet beautiful handwriting was a series of haikus.
The bright blinking stars
Like diamonds in the night sky
Humbled by your shine
 Rain falls in the night
The drip-drops loud as thunder
My heart beats the same
 Waves crash on the shore
Reaching up towards the moon
Longing for her touch
Nico read the rest of the haikus in incredulous silence, a small blush spreading across her features. She looked up at Umi to see that she was positively glowing with embarrassment. Nico smiled before setting the chocolates and haikus down and moving closer to Umi.
“You are such a freaking dork,” She said sardonically before grabbing Umi’s collar and pulling her down for a kiss. Umi resisted briefly before giving in, savoring Nico’s taste. She tasted like dark chocolate and raspberry, probably because of the chocolate she’d eaten earlier. Umi gave a small moan of approval.
“You taste good,” Umi said as Nico pulled away. “Bitter and tart, but with a hint of sweetness. It’s very you.”
“I think you need to stop talking,” Nico responded and went in for another kiss.
“Well, Eli-chan, what do you think, nya?”
Eli took a moment to attempt to swallow the bite she’d taken. In front of her was a box of what she assumed were supposed to be brownies, but they looked more like a burned, black mess than baked confectioneries.
“They’re, uh, very nice, Rin,” She said with a forced smile, finally managing to get the “brownie” down her throat. In reality the brownies weren’t very nice at all, with a dry, crunchy texture and a taste that more closely resembled charcoal than chocolate.
Rin seemed blissfully unaware of her girlfriend’s struggle to force down her gift. “Really?” She said with excitement, bringing her hands up to her chest and bouncing up and down. “Rin worked super hard to make them, nya!” In that moment Eli noticed something unusual.
“Hey, Rin, what happened to your hand?” As soon as she said this, Rin glanced down at her left hand. It was wrapped in gauze bandages, held together by medical tape.
“Nyahaha…Well, when Rin was making your brownies, she touched something hot and burned herself,” Rin explained. Eli’s heart warmed a little. Rin had poured herself into those brownies, even if they hadn’t turned out well. Even if they tasted like pencil lead she would still treasure them.
“Rin…give me your hand.” Confused, Rin extended her right hand. “Your injured hand,” Eli clarified. Rin slowly held out her other hand. Eli took it into her own, running her thumb along the bandages. Slowly she brought the hand to her face, before kissing it softly.
“There,” She said with a smile. “I kissed it better.” Rin just stood there dumbstruck before lighting up like a street lamp.
“Nyaaa, thank you Eli-chan! Rin’s hand feels better already!”
“Wait, Rin, no! Don’t take off the bandages, you still need to give it time to heal!”
“H-happy Valentine’s day, Kotori-chan!”
Hanayo was adorable 24/7, but Kotori had to admit that she was especially cute at this moment, blushing radiantly and shyly holding out a box wrapped with a ribbon. Kotori giggled, taking in the wonderful sight before her. “Thank you, Hanayo-chan,” She said appreciatively as she took the box. She slowly undid the ribbon and opened the box to find…
“…Riceballs?” Kotori said quizzically. Well, leave it Hanayo to try to put rice into romance. Hanayo’s blush deepened.
“Th-they’re special riceballs! Please try them!” She pleaded. Kotori stood still for a moment before shrugging and taking a riceball from the box. Here goes nothing, she thought as she carefully took a bite.
Sweet. Sweet, with a slight hint of sour. Dense. Creamy. Rich. A glorious, wonderful taste filled Kotori’s mouth and seemed to spread throughout her entire being. She closed her eyes and almost moaned in ecstasy as she savored the riceball’s filling. She nearly fell over in sheer pleasure from her legs shaking as she squeezed every last drop of delight from the small bite she had taken. All things seemed to grow distant as she reveled in the glorious sensation of flavor. Finally she swallowed, and in her mouth was left a sweet, slightly fruity aftertaste.
“Um…Kotori-chan?” Hanayo asked with concern.
“…Cheesecake,” Kotori said softly, finally coming down from her flavorful high. “You filled them with cheesecake.”
“Y-yeah,” Hanayo responded sheepishly. “Cheesecake is your favorite, so I figured I could put cheesecake filling in some riceballs. I’m sorry if you don’t like it…”
“No!” Kotori blurted out. “I love them! They’re the best thing I’ve ever eaten!”
“Really? You mean it?” Hanayo seemed to glow, her face a bright red and a bright, broad smile spread across her features.
“Of course I mean it,” Kotori said, smiling back. “But,” She said, “I can’t possibly eat all these riceballs on my own.” She looked at Hanayo, a suggestive gleam in her eye. “Do you think you could help me out?”
Hanayo nearly tackled Kotori in a hug. “Yes!” She screamed. “I would love nothing more than to share riceballs with you, Kotori-chan!”
“You better have a damn good reason for calling me here, Nozomi.”
Maki grumbled to herself as she closed the door to the darkened clubroom. She glanced around the darkened room, listening for signs of her girlfriend. Silence. She scowled before reaching for the lightswitch and flipping it on. What she saw shocked and confused her.
Nozomi was laid out on the clubroom table, wearing nothing but a lacy red bra and panties. She smirked deviously as Maki took in the sight. “Happy Valentine’s day, Makichi,” She said hoarsely. Maki gulped audibly, her face now having taken on a shade similar to her hair.
“N-Nozomi, what the hell?” She said, unable to tear her gaze away from the scantily clad girl on the table.
“I’m your Valentine’s day treat,” She cooed, still smirking. “I even got ya some toppings.” She reached into her bag next to the table and took out two items: a bottle of chocolate syrup and a can of whipped cream. Maki began breathing heavily. Nozomi could literally hear her girlfriend’s self-control falling to pieces.
“Y-you…” Maki couldn’t find any words. She could only continue to stare as Nozomi unclasped her bra and slowly slid it off of her shoulders, revealing her perfect, round breasts, her nipples already visibly hard. She gaped open-mouthed as Nozomi took the whipped cream and liberally covered both breasts with it. She then grabbed the chocolate syrup and slowly drizzled it all over her torso.
“C’mere, Makichi,” She said in the sultriest voice Maki had ever heard, lifting her hand and making a “come hither” motion with her finger.
Something inside of Maki snapped. She nearly pounced onto Nozomi, capturing her lips in a quick yet hard kiss, before grabbing one of her cream-covered breasts and quickly licking away every bit of topping before taking the nipple into her mouth, sucking hard and nibbling lightly. She pulled away and looked up at Nozomi, a predatory glint in her eyes.
“You’re not gonna walk straight for a week,” Maki said before going to work on the other breast. Nozomi held back a moan.
“I don’t like empty threats, Makichi,” Nozomi said, struggling to keep her voice level as she began to succumb to pleasure, “Ya better make good on that.”
Honoka passed yet another café and eyed the happy couples inside. The café was lit with warm colors, in sharp contrast to the dull gray that seemed to be permeating everything else. She sighed deeply before continuing on her way.
She was going right home today. Everyone else in µ’s probably had plans, and who was she to stop them from spending time with their girlfriends? To be honest, she was very happy for all of her friends for finding people to love and cherish, and yet she was still slightly jealous. She continued to walk slowly, eyes cast downward.
Is this why it’s called National Single’s Day? She thought as she walked. She never felt this lonely, even when she would see them flirt and hold hands in the clubroom and between classes. It was just that it seemed even more apparent that everyone except her had someone to be with today. Even Yukiho had plans with Eli’s sister…
“Mouuuu!” She suddenly shouted out, gripping her head in her hands. “I must be the only person in the world who doesn’t have a date on Valentine’s Day!”
“What? No way, I thought I was the only one!”
Honoka turned toward the sound of the voice to see someone familiar yet totally unexpected standing over by a bus stop. She gaped as her eyes met a pair of bright jade green ones.
“Whaaaaat? Erena?” Honoka exclaimed, smacking the side of her face with one hand in shock. “What are you doing out here?”
“Well, what are you doing?” Erena asked.
“Going home. All my friends are busy,” Honoka said, eyes downcast.
“Oh. Me too,” Erena responded. She sighed deeply. “Tsubasa and Anju are off at a café or something.” Erena was clearly trying to keep her voice neutral, but Honoka could hear a tinge of loneliness. “Usually they let me come with them, but I thought it wouldn’t be appropriate today, since it’s Valentine’s Day and all…”
There was a moment of silence between the two as Honoka studied Erena’s expression, traces of hurt scattered across her mostly stony face. She seemed so sad and yet she was trying so hard to hide it, what could she do?
“Well, I don’t know if you’re interested, but…” Honoka started, “I think a new donut place opened up near here. You wanna go get some?”
Light seemed to instantly flood into Erena’s eyes. “Are you…are you asking me? To get donuts? With you?”
Honoka smiled brightly. “Sure!” She said. “I’ll even treat you!”
Erena almost looked like she was about to cry as she ran up and grabbed Honoka’s hands. “Yes!” She said. “I’d love to! Just lead the way!”
Honoka continued to smile as she led Erena in the direction of the donut shop. They made small talk as they walked, mostly about the antics of their groupmates. “So then we had to spend an hour picking up all the pieces of the coffee machine that were scattered around the clubroom, and then we were late for class, but seeing Tsubasa shuffle around like a zombie was kind of worth it,” Erena finished.
“Wow, Anju’s pretty harsh,” Honoka responded as they approached the doors to the shop.
“I know! And, like, whenever I hear someone go ‘oh, Yuuki-san is so sweet’ I can’t help but think ‘oh you really don’t know, do you,’” Erena said as they stepped inside. She turned to Honoka, a blush suddenly spread across her features. “Hey, Honoka-san,” She said softly, “is…is this a date?”
Honoka turned to her, a wide smile across her face. “It can be if you want it to,” She said. “After all, no one deserves to be alone on Valentine’s Day.”

I want to protect the wolf, pet the wolf, and tell my friends and neighbors about it
Summary:  tfw maki just wanted to stay in and sleep but nico drags her out to a halloween party (for suspicious reasons) and maki ends up not really minding by the end of the night
Ao3: (x) FFnet: (x)
A/N: if you made it past the meme title and troll summary then too bad, the contents of this story don't really get any better than that :D (I kid, I kid.... maybe) also I just realized I haven't capitalized any of my titles in a long while, but like who needs proper grammar? lul.
also I don’t care what the date says it’s always Halloween in my heart
“Remind me why I have to go with you to this party?” Maki asks while pulling the red hood of her costume over her head.
“Because all you were going to do was sit home by yourself and be boring the whole night, and I can’t have people thinking anyone one I associate with is a loser,” Nico explains while adjusting her wings, “Even though you kinda are.”
Maki’s eyebrow twitches in irritation, she attempts to punch the shorter girl on the shoulder but Nico just twirls away and gives her a sickeningly cute smile accompanied with her Nico-Nii hand sign.  Huffing with exasperation Maki crosses her arms over her chest and begins to twirl a pigtail to distract herself.
“So why aren’t you dragging Eli along too?”
“Because, unlike you, Eli has a social life and a hot date tonight.”
“Whatever, I guess going out wouldn’t be the worst thing ever.  But why did I have to be red riding hood?”
“Well duh, red hair, red hood, it’s obvious.” Nico replied while fixing her buns in the mirror.  Maki threw the shorter girl a suspicious look not buying her explanation.  Nico was way too adamant about her costume for it to be that simple.
“Right… and I guess you being a fairy makes sense since you’re tiny like one right?”
Nico narrows her eyes and points a warning finger at the red head, “You’re lucky that this outfit took a long time to put on and I look extra cute right now otherwise I’d kick your ass for that Nishikino.”
Maki ignores her, already immune to Nico’s “threats”.  She was like an angry puppy, all bark no bite.
“Are you done yet? I thought you said the party started at eight?” Maki picks up the wicker basket that Nico brought over and draped it on her forearm.  Surprisingly there were actually a variety of snacks in there from sweets to chips some drinks and there were even rice balls. And once again when asked why Nico had just given her an unconvincing reason and warned her to not remove anything.
Nico applied a light coat of translucent sparkly lip gloss while leaning in closely to compact mirror, “It’s called being fashionably late.  I shouldn’t be surprised that a stick in the mud like you would be the type to show up to a party on time.  The fabulous super idol Nico-Nii still has much to teach you.”  Closing her mirror with a flourish Nico throws out a wink.
“Lesson one, you can’t rush perfection.”
Not for the first time Maki wonders why she even hangs out with, which she sometimes truly believes, a tiny spawn of satan sent to work on her last nerve.
“Stop scowling so much you’ll get wrinkles.  And I have to admit you’re really killing it in that outfit.   You’re definitely going to turn some heads tonight. I mean not as many as me, but still.” Nico caps the gloss and smacks her lips together.
“Ok done.  Let’s go.”
“Finally” Maki mumbles under her breath as she makes her way to the door.
When they arrive at the apartment where the party was being held they’re greeted by a door that was covered in an orange door cover that was decorated with little pumpkins with varying expressions and a big black cat in the center.  Upon closer inspection Maki noticed that all the pumpkins had little cat ears on them which were admittedly kind of cute.  The familiar tune of Monster Mash was heard from out in the hall.
Maki waited for Nico to knock but instead the shorter girl just opened the door and strode in like she owned the place.  Maki followed reluctantly making sure to close the door behind them.  Just as the redhead was about to open her mouth to complain about something she was cut off by a loud call.
“Nico-chan!” A flash of green and orange suddenly flies across the room and crashes into the Nico almost bringing the older girl to the ground.  Maki just looks on in bemusement as Nico is hugged tightly by an unfamiliar orange haired girl who was strangely dressed in a similar costume as Nico.
“Gah Rin, what did tell you about the clinging?”  Nico complains but doesn’t make the effort to push the younger girl off.
“Aw Nico-chan don’t be like that, nya” the orange girl pouts while rubbing her cheek against the now annoyed looking Nico who just scoffs.
“Whatever.”  The shorter girl sighs while leaving the Rin latched to her side.
Maki considers just turning around and walking out of the party already tired of interacting with others.  Unfortunately the strange energetic girl turned her bright gaze onto Maki pinning the redhead to the spot.
“Maki-chan!” Rin transferred herself from Nico over to Maki and smiled brightly.
The redhead peers at the shorter girl with a bored expression, “What’s with that familiar greeting?”
“Well Nico-chan told me a lot about you so it feels like we already know each other.  Also Rin was really excited to meet you.”
“Thanks.” Maki says blandly, “But uh, would you mind letting me go.”
Rin gives her a suspicious catlike grin before complying and latching herself back on Nico.
“I like your costume nya!”
Maki looks of to the side and twirls a pigtail, “Yeah, I really didn’t have much of a choice in it.”
“Well it really suits you, you look really cute.”
“Hmph” Maki grunts, “What about you two, are you supposed to match or…”
“Of course, we’re the fairyest of them all right Nico-chan?”
“Rin what did I say about the puns.”
“Sorry.”  The ginger sticks her tongue out not looking sorry at all.
“So why are you two wearing matching costumes?”
“Because couples costumes are the theme of the party.  And if I’m being honest here Rin and I are definitely the clear winners here.” Nico boasts looking pleased with herself.
“But there’s no contest nya.”
“There never is once the great Nico-Nii enters the room.”
Maki just rolls her eyes and starts to walk away spotting a corner that seemed nice and as secluded as it could get for a party.
“Oi, where are you going?” Nico called out.
“To mingle.” Maki lied without even turning back towards the shorter girl.  Although she was a little surprised that Nico didn’t call her out on her blatant lie Maki didn’t look a gift horse in the mouth.  Settling herself against the wall the disgruntled girl places her basket on the ground and crosses her arms across her chest and watches the party.  Looking over to where she had left Nico and her friend Maki can’t help but frown when she finds the spot deserted.  Even though she was the one who walked away she couldn’t believe Nico would actually abandon her to hang out with that Rin girl.
Some best friend she is.  Invites me to a party just to ditch me.
Out the corner of her eye Maki sees someone stand against the wall.  Not thinking much of it Maki continues her brooding which goes well.  At least for a couple of minutes until she sees a flash of orange and green suddenly rushing towards her again.  Maki groans and prepares to move herself out of the way of the hug that was no doubt about to head her way.
“Kayo-chin~”
Or not.
Rin instead jumps on Maki’s mysterious wall partner who giggles in response.  The redhead feels her ears prick up at the cute sound.
“I’m sorry for leaving you; Nico-chan needed Rin for something.”
“I-it’s okay Rin-chan I understand.”
So she wasn’t the only one ditched by those two?  Maki feels a sense of comradery with this girl.  Suddenly she feels a little curious as to who she was so as casually as she could she adjusted her stance so she could see the pair out of the corner of her eye.  Unfortunately Rin was standing between Maki and the other girl so she couldn’t really see her.
“But Rin feels bad for leaving you all by yourself.” And then as if sensing Maki’s eyes on them Rin turns toward the redhead who does her best to not look like she was just caught staring.  But by the knowing smile Rin throws her way she knows it’s useless.
“Oh Maki-chan, didn’t see you there.” Rin gives her a cat like grin and Maki instantly knows she’s lying. “Hey Rin just had a great idea!  Since Nico-chan and I still have stuff to do why don’t you two hang out?”
Maki frowns fully prepared to shut down Rin’s idea until the orange haired girl moves to the side and Maki catches sight of probably the cutest girl she’s ever seen that was dressed up in the most adorable wolf costume ever and the redheads words disappear like smoke.
“Kayo-chin meet Maki-chan, one of Nico-chan’s roommates.  Maki-chan meet Kayo-chin, Rin’s bestest friend in the world.”
The brunette shyly greets the blushing redhead who turns her head to the side and lets out a gruff ‘hi’.  Rin rolls her eyes at the two wondering if she should leave them alone after all.  But Nico-chan said this plan was full proof and Rin believed her.
“Ah Nico-chan is calling me over, I’ll be back later.  Have fun you two!” And as quickly as she arrived Rin disappeared leaving behind two awkward girls.
“So uh,” Maki wracked her mind for something to say, “Kayo-chin was it.  That a pretty weird name.” Maki mentally smacked herself.  Yeah that’s great Maki; insult her name, that’ll definitely make her like you.
A laugh brings Maki out of herself deprecation as she watches the other girl cover her mouth and laugh cutely.
“A-actually my name is Hanayo, Hanayo Koizumi.  That’s was just Rin-chan’s nickname for me.”
“Oh.  Well I like Hanayo more. It’s a pretty name so it suits you.” Both girls blush and avert their gazes.
“Maki Nishikino.” The redhead suddenly blurts out while thrusting her hand forward.
Hanayo look at the hand warily before reaching out and shaking it.  “Nice to meet you Nishikino-san-“
“Maki”
“Eh?”
“I-I mean your friend is already calling me Maki so ya know.” Maki shrugs and tries to seem nonchalant.
“O-okay… Maki-chan?”  Maki just nods, “Then you can just call me Hanayo.”
“Right.”  Remembering that she still was holding the shorter girls’ hand Maki drops it and returns to twirling her hair. “I like your costume.”
“Thank you. B-but yours is really pretty too.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, it really suits you.”
Maki lets a small smile curve up on her face, “Thanks.”
They lapse into silence for a beat before a thought suddenly hit Maki.
“Hey um, don’t you have anyone else to hang out with?”
“N-not really.”
“Hmm.”
An awkward silence envelops them.  Maki scuffs her shoes against the floor her face settling into a familiar frown as she tries to think of something else to say.  Nico and Eli always warned her that her lack of social skills would bite her in the butt someday.  And now it’s happening.  And in front of a cute girl no less.
Gah come on Nishikino you can do this. Just say something!
The more Maki tried to think of something to say the deeper her frown became.  She noticed that Hanayo had started to fidget in place while occasionally glancing at the frustrated redhead out of the corner of her eye.
After the fifth time their eyes locked and Hanayo squeaked while slightly jumping in place.
“S-sorry!  I um, am I bothering you?  I didn’t mean to.  I’m not very good with meeting new people so I‘m sorry if I’m being a burden.”
“Ueeh?” Maki was shocked at the sudden turn of events.
“Um, I can uh go find Rin-chan if you want?” Hanayo suddenly seems to curl in on herself as she casts her gaze to the floor.
Maki’s frown instantly disappeared as panic began to rise as she tried to figure out what just happened.  Thinking over her last sentence Maki sees how her words could have come across the wrong way.
“N-No wait.  I didn’t mean it like that.”
“Huh?” Hanayo sniffled
Crap is she crying? Maki reached her hand wanting to comfort the other girl but instead she just ran a frustrated hand through her hair effectively knocking her hood off.
“W-when I asked if you had someone else to hang out with I just assumed, because Nico-chan told me that the theme was matching outfits so I just thought…” Maki trailed off.
Hanayo looks up and Maki feels like her heart had suddenly seized in her chest.  The shorter girls’ eyes were shimmering with tears and her lower lip trembled.  Getting ten times more flustered Maki rushes the rest of her words out.
“I just thought you had someone that you matched with!” Maki places a hand on Hanayo’s shoulder and breathes out letting her shoulders sag.  “I’m sorry.  I’m just really bad at talking with others, please don’t cry.  I don’t think my heart could take it.”
Hanayo sniffles once more and a cute little pout appears on her lips and Maki has to remember to keep her grip on the other girls shoulder loose.
“I’m sorry.  I guess I went and got all worked up over a misunderstanding.”
“No this was totally my fault.  I should have been more specific.  So please smile again I liked that better than you being upset.”
Hanayo’s lip curved upward and nods.
Gah she’s so cute how is this even legal?
“I don’t have anyone I match with.”
“Huh?”
“M-my costume I mean.  I thought that Rin-chan and I would since she picked out the outfit for me.  But then she remembered that she already promised Yazawa-san.”
And in that moment Maki realized what those two were up to.
I can’t believe- scratch that, actually I can believe that little gremlin would try to set me up with some one, again.
As much as Maki wanted to be angry all the irritation she felt melted away the moment she looked at the girl in front of her.
“Hmph.  Well I guess you and I are in the same boat.  Actually I didn’t even want to come in the first place.”
“Really? Me too!  I wanted to catch up on all the new PV’s I missed, plus there’s an event going on that I really wanted to participate in.  But Rin-chan said I had to come since I didn’t go to the last two parties she invited me to.”
“An event? What kind of event?”
Hanayo became a little bashful and wrung her hands, “It’s uh for this game I play on my phone.”
Maki hums while leaning against the wall casually. “Sounds interesting.  Honestly I was just going to catch up on some sleep.”  Suddenly remembering the basket filled with goods by her feet Maki bends down and pulls out two juice boxes with a barely held back eye roll.  She offers one to Hanayo who accepts it with a soft thanks.
“So you really have a basket full of goodies for grandma.” Hanayo giggles.  Maki pouts while stabbing at her juice box.  Another silence falls over them as they sip at their drinks.
Just as Maki was about to blurt something out the music suddenly cut out and a familiar voice rang out through the apartment.
“Alright losers time for some seven minutes in heaven.  If you’re playing circle up in the living room.”
No way, there was no way Maki was gonna be dragged into this.  Just as she was about grab Hanayo and escape from the embarrassment their friends were no doubt about to force on them a hand on her shoulder freezes her in place.  Turning around slowly she comes face to face with mischievous red eyes and too sweet smile.
“Come along Maki, you wouldn’t want to keep everyone waiting.”
“No way Nico, I’m playing a dumb prepubescent party game.”
Nico just gives her a scary smile and somewhere in the background she hears Hanayo let out a surprised “R-R-chin, what are you-”
Maki suddenly felt less sure about her protest as Nico continued to advance on her with a scary look on her face.
“Don’t worry Maki, we’re just gonna have some harmless fun, nothing to worry about.”
With every step forward Nico made Maki responded a backwards one until her back was pressed against the wall.  Now sweating a little Maki opened her mouth, to protest or scream she wasn’t sure, but it was already too late.
Hitting her head against the door Maki groaned for what felt like the hundredth time since she walked, well actually shoved, in here.
After Nico and Rin had forced her and Hanayo into the game they both had watch with baited breath as people would pick a name out of a hat and then disappear into the closet.  After the eighth round of this Maki fell into a false sense of security so when Nico shoved a hat in her face, which looked conspicuously different from the one that was being used, she jolted in shocked and narrowed her eyes at the smirking fairy.  Too suspicious to even be nervous Maki reached into the hat, staring directly into Nico’s red eyes with a defiant look, and pulled out a slip of paper.
Even though she was expecting it Maki still blushed when she read Hanayo’s name.
And now here they were in the dark but surprisingly spacious closet alone.  Together.  For seven whole minutes.  Glancing out the corner of her eye Maki watches as Hanayo runs a hand over the ears on top of her head playing with them nervously.  Maki lets out a quiet whimper at the cute sight.
Seriously, she’s supposed to be the big bad wolf?
Maki is suddenly hit with the urge to pet the other girls head suspecting her hair to be as fluffy as those ears looked.  Shifting her gaze downward Maki’s gaze lingers on the brunettes lips immediately shutting down any idea of trying to kiss the shorter girl.
Even though that’s the whole point of this stupid game.
Letting her eyes continue downward Maki’s eyes zero in on Hanayo’s hands.
Maybe I can try to hold her hand… J-just to calm her nerves is all!  She justifies o herself.
Shuffling over toward Hanayo until they were shoulder to shoulder the redhead considers how to go about this.  Should she ask first?  Or maybe be a little spontaneous?  Maki’s usual frustrated scowl falls on her face, No way this impossible, there’s no way I can do this.  Dammit Nico-chan I don’t know what you expected me to do in here.
“Maki-chan?”  Hanayo’s soft voice jolts Maki out of her thoughts.  Feeling caught for some reason Maki turns her head to the side and starts rambling.
"T-this is dumb.  We're in college now who even still plays seven minutes in heaven? I mean really. A-and who even decided that you had to be in a stuffy closet in the d-dark.  It just doesn't make sense.  I swear when I get out of here I'm gonna kick Nico's-"
Maki's words died on her tongue and her mouth became suddenly dry when she felt a soft hand suddenly wrap around hers.
Was this real life.  Or did Maki suddenly pass out from all her hyperventilating and now she was in heaven.  The redhead suddenly became very aware of how sweaty her hand had become and how they were trembling slightly from nerves.
"Um!" Hanayo suddenly squeaks, "I-it's okay Maki-chan.  I'm nervous too, but uh, if it's with you I don't mind being in here."
“R-Really?”
“Yeah”
An embarrassed silence passes.
“Y-Ya know I have a feeling we’ll probably be in here a while.  I have some snacks you want some?”
“Sure!”
Twenty minutes later Maki learns about Hanayo’s love affair with rice (and suddenly the overabundance of rice balls in her basket made sense), she also learned that Hanayo was very passionate about idols.  It was like the shorter girls’ personality did a whole 180 when she talked about them.  In turn Maki told Hanayo about how tiring medical school was, her crazy roommates, and her love for the piano that she admittedly didn’t get to play as much as of late.
“Wow I’d love to hear you play sometime.”
“Okay.  I’m sure it’ll be more fun than being forced to come to a party and then locked in a closet for most of it.”
Hanayo giggles while discreetly moving closer to Maki so they were sitting right next to each other.
“Maybe, b-but I don’t really mind this because at least I got you meet you.” Hanayo looked up at Maki through thick eyelashes with a content smile on her lips.
Maki’s mouth becomes dry as she stutters out, “Same”
They stare at each other with dumb smiles on their faces.  As the silence stretches on Maki starts to slowly lean forward bringing her and Hanayo’s faces closer together.  Before doubt could start to could her mind she feels Hanayo’s hand settle on top on her own and her face starts to meet Maki halfway.
With their lips only centimeters apart Maki licked her lips and whispered, “Is this okay?” with her gaze flickering back and forth from Hanayo’s eyes to her lips.  Hanayo nods slightly and if Maki wasn’t so close to her face she would have missed it.
Taking in a shuddering breath Maki steels herself to close the scant distance between their lips.
Just as Maki tilted her head the dark space of the closet suddenly filled with light.
Jumping apart Maki and Hanayo flush up to the tips of their ears.
“Alright times up nerds.”
Squinting her eyes trying to adjust to the light Maki makes out Nico who was standing there with a confident grin on her face and right behind her was Rin who was peering over the dark haired girls shoulder with curious and excited eyes.
Feeling anger suddenly pulse through her veins Maki shoots up and storms over to Nico pointing a finger in her face.
“That was way longer than seven minutes you idiot!”
“Hmm was it? My bad we got distracted by another game we started sorry.”
Maki scoffs and shoulders past the girl not wanting to even argue with her.  Halfway through her storm off Maki is stopped by a hand wrapping around her own.
“Maki-chan.” Freezing mid-step Maki turns to look at the shorter girl, “Don’t be too upset with Rin-chan and Yazawa-san, they mean well.”
“Aren’t you even a little bit upset they did that to us?”
“Well maybe a little,” Hanayo pouts as her eyebrows get pulled down. How can she still be that cute even when she’s angry? “B-But mostly I’m happy.  I’m really glad we got to meet and enjoyed getting to know you. And uh…” Hanayo shifts nervously suddenly breaks eye contact and shuffles nervously.  Before Maki could even say anything else Hanayo ha already nodded to herself obviously deciding on something and stretched up on her tip toes pressing a kiss on Maki’s now flaming cheek.
“Mostly I’m upset they interrupted before we got to…” Hanayo trails off too embarrassed to continue.
Feeling like her heart might fly out of her chest at the moment Maki couldn’t stop the words that just bubbled up past her lips, “Do you wanna go on a date with me?”
“Uh! Yes, if you really want to that is, I’d like that.”
They were both blushing messes but the smiles on their faces bright and genuine.
Later that night as Maki was lying down on her bed, costume discarded, but dumb smile still plastered on her face, she happily sent Hanayo a goodnight text.
“Ya know I’m still waiting for my thank you.”
Sitting up Maki sees Nico leaning against the doorframe with a satisfied expression on her face.  Maki narrowed her eyes at the shorter girl.
“Your thanks is the fact I’m not kicking your ass right now.”
“Wow is that the way you should talk to someone who just set you up with probably the perfect girl for you?”
“Whatever”
Nico rolled her eyes at the redhead not really expecting anything else.  Turning around to head to her room she’s stopped when Maki calls out her name.
“Thanks.  I really appreciate what you did.”
“I bet that’ll tech you to second guess the great Nico-Nii ever again.”
Maki tosses a pillow straight into Nico’s smug face.
“You just had to ruin it”
A/N: and we’re done. Here’s another makipana to hopefully make you smile, I know I did :) I highkey wanted the pajama set to be a makipana UR pair, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. But hey K-lab if you wanna do a part 2 to the fairytale set I’m telling you Makipana red riding hood and big bad wolfs URs are the way to go (or well maybe they’d have to be SSRs since Hanayo was the UR for the original fairytale set). Either way make it happen K-lab.
