The Other Baron freezes and Haru twists her hands free. The immobilising reaction in her limbs have slackened, and she almost stumbles in surprise, only to be steadied by Other Muta's paw upon her shoulder.
Ah, right.
She'd almost forgotten the rest of the Other Bureau, and she tenses, bracing for the ensuing argument.
"I have to go home, Muta."
"I know, Chicky." He sounds different – tired, and Haru realises she can't remember the last time she heard Other Muta being anything but cheerfully upbeat. He looks drained now, slightly stooped like a puppet with its strings loosened. "Hey, birdbrain, we good to go?"
Other Toto tilts his head, watching something beyond the Bureau balcony windows. "There's two of them this time, enough to keep him occupied for longer this time, but not by much. If she's going, you'd better make it now."
Other Muta glances to the Other Baron. The Creation's head is tilted, as if caught mid-thought, but the brows continue to twitch. Occasionally a finger will flicker.
Haru is sure she sees the ghost of a smile catch on the corner of his lips.
"No time for dilly-dallying, Chicky; time to skedaddle," Other Muta prompts, and propels her in the direction of the Bureau doors.
Haru can't help it; she cranes her neck back to catch another glimpse of the Other Baron. "What's happening to him? It's not the same as my freezing, is it?"
"Nah," Other Muta dismisses. The doors swing shut behind them, closing off Haru's view. "He's just got too many plates in the air at once, and this one's taking all his focus."
"What plate – oh."
Between Toto's column and the archway out, there is a giant ball, seemingly woven of silk thread, or perhaps wool. At Haru's current diminished size, it could hold at least three of her comfortably, and even as she watches, more strands slither across the surface. Within, lights shimmer.
"What's that?"
"The reason you're getting outta here." Other Muta steers her towards the archway which will lead her back to her world. "But we ain't got long before – oh, sh–"
"GET BACK HERE!"
The Other Baron erupts through the Bureau doors, moving with unnatural speed with legs longer than Haru remembers. His face looks different – and not just with the unfamiliar rage – but not in any way Haru wants to get closer to see.
Haru tries to stumble to the archway, to her portal home, but Other Muta's paw on her shoulder holds her in place. The tiredness she'd seen earlier in him has vanished; back is that undaunted cheerfulness that now sets her nerves on edge. It feels artificial, in a way she'd never noticed before.
"Where do you think you're going, Chicky?"
She squirms in his grip, just enough to meet his uncanny smile. "Home, Muta, please–"
Her voice catches as she spots the threads, silver and sliver-thin, rising from him. Like silk, or cobwebs...
Or puppet strings.
She drops a hand into her bag, but the action is sluggish, struggling as another immobilising spell creeps through her – but now she can see the web she's snagged against, trapping her in place.
The Other Baron has slowed, the rage replaced by reassurance of his trapped companion prey, and yet there is still an ugliness to his emotions. "Do you really think you can just leave, Miss Haru? After all the time you've spent here? After all the effort I've put in?"
Only Haru's fingers are free, and they scrabble at the contents of her bag. "What are you?" she rasps through numbed lips.
"Why, I'm your friend, Miss Haru. I'm the Baron you wanted." He approaches, and his limbs grow long and thin – they had always been gaunt, but now they are beyond skeletal. His hands become nothing but claws. "Don't you recognise me?"
"I think I would remember wishing for this," she hisses, and her fingers find purchase on her penknife. She slices through the web mooring her hand. Her arm judders free and snaps more of the threads anchoring her, the knife severing what didn't immediately give, and she hears the not-Baron give an unholy screech.
She doesn't afford him a glance – she doesn't have the time and, anyway, she can clearly hear his frantic approach – and she sweeps her penknife up, cleaving the web binding Other Muta's paw.
His grip loosens, and Haru stumbles back. Just a few more steps – the archway home is so close – and her legs snag against more cobwebs. She slips. She sees Other Muta's paw come for her again – she slashes with the knife – misses – and finally she glimpses the terrible, furious form of the not-Baron, sunken face and a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth –
Other Muta's paw snags the lapels of her coat. A smile – small and lopsided – ghosts across his face.
"Don't come back, Chicky."
And he pushes her through the archway.
Just before the portal swallows her up, she sees another burst of light from the silk sphere. Within, she glimpses two humanoid silhouettes, and then she is stumbling out onto into her world.
She spins around, but the doorway is already gone. Instead, her Sanctuary lies open before her, empty and quiet.

Here's Cucurucho and Oscurucho's long lore conversation from yesterday! The entire conversation lasted about 8 minutes, but most of that time was just silence between each exchange, so I edited out the long pauses and got it down to ~3 minutes. I also fixed the audio levels and added subtitles since I personally find it difficult to understand Oscurucho sometimes :'D

#Cucurucho#Oscurucho#QSMP#December 21 2023#Edited#Subtitles#For those who like knowing the gritty details and specifics about the things I did for this video -#I adjusted Cucurucho's volume because they were very quiet compared to Oscurucho#I fixed the sound direction (for lack of a better word) of Oscurucho's voice b/c he was speaking through my right headphone 90% of the time#so now it's more of a ''centered'' audio rather than a right ear or left ear thing#I added subtitles (obviously)#I fixed the camera a bit so it's more focused on Cucurucho / Oscurucho#and I adjusted the translator box so that even with the crop; they're all still included#usually they get cut out when I edit things because I'm just focused on the characters; but then one day I was like#''Why am I cropping out this thing that specifically helps people understand the story better?''#So moving forward I'll see if I can do what I did here and add translation boxes as their own ''layer'' overlaying the clip itself#for big lore videos anyways or for clips with long conversations at least#I jokingly said to myself ''I bet I'll wind up shaving 5 minutes off this'' and I was right lol#I enjoy the official QSMP streams but one major critique I have is that the pacing was a bit slow in one or two streams#which is understandable considering many admins have to write in books (which takes time) and translate things (which takes even more time)#And that's valid! But in the last stream (the one with Elena) for example; many scenes dragged on far too long#and it wasn't because people were taking extra long to write books or translate things. It was purely a matter of pacing#idk I'm a professional writer and editor so I'm extra nitpicky about things like that. I think it's something that's pretty easy to fix tho#This is just my critique in terms of the story pacing - like I said; the time it takes them to write / translate stuff is understandable#this is more of a comment on the overall pacing#anyways rant over#Today's stream had much better pacing! Still a bit slow (again; I cut 5 minutes from this conversation)#but that's due to the communication medium (TTS) so that's understandable. That's valid. I'm not fussed about it; that felt natural#Take all the time you need kings it's hard to translate things on the fly. I get it.#Portfolio

ngl, the more I think about it, the more I feel conflicted over how people sexualize my characters.
On the one hand, it would be silly to deny that I don't go out of my way to create aesthetically pleasing/attractive characters because I love to draw what I enjoy, and I love it when people simp for them.
But on the other hand, sometimes it does bother me that people are so fixated on sex and their own arousal that they miss important lore/plot information that I get a bit frustrated

Some (late) holiday photos of the boye~!
#cats#holiday#OUGHH....... barely could even get these edited and posted... my mysterious sickness flare up has been sooo bad the past few#days.. I didn't even go to the usual obligatory family christmas I was supposed to attend (!!! health issue/medical mention in tags below)#My stomach issues basically put me in a constant state of uncontrollable shivering/body shaking + nausea + sometimes rapid heart#rate. and when it happens at night that makes it like.. nearly impossible to sleep when you're violently shaking + you can feel your heart#so strong + you keep having to run to the bathroom every 5 minute to cough and gag#and throw up and so on and so forth. etc. So I went like 40 hours without any sleep almost for christmas eve and all of christmas day#last night I finally got maybe 2 hours of sleep in between the nausea and shaking and stuff. and then today I was able to get a few#hours of sleep in the afternoon. Today I tried taking an anxiety mediciation a doctor gave me in case it was anxiety related (it's apparent#ly used to relax people and works in the moment. rather than like Anxiety Mediciation that you have to take for weeks to see any effect#because I think this isn't actually acting on your brain chemistry it's judt like..a mild sedative or something.) but all that did was make#me dizzy and sweaty lol. I;m glad I slept a little but I'm just still frustrated that I don't feel normal. I started having these#'episodes' (with the stomach issues + shaking + heartrate + nausea etc.) like at the end of october. And usually it will happen for like a#few hours at a time. or i'll lose sleep one day and then be fine the next. but this has been like nearly 3 days of feeling weird. so is#getting kind of annoying... It's funny too because I was so so productive like.. literally the few days before. I was feeling much better#and I was working on my game and blah blah. But then.. random issue flare up out of nowhere of course.. yaayy.... happy holidays to meee lo#I did at least see two random ducks outside of my window in the yard area for christmas. and havent seen them since. So it's like.. hrmm..#pacing around my room nauseous and shakings and etc. but at least... hello.. two little ducks placed there just for me :3c#Now I get anxiety every night which I'm sure doesn't help/could exacerbate whatever underlying genuinely physical issues exist. But after#like 2 nights of 'I spend the night sleepless and incredibly uncomfortable just sitting in the dark sick' then bedtime is like.. dread...#I even was trying slapping myself in the face in desperation to see if somehow that could shock my body out of whatever the hell it was#doing lol.. up at 3am holding ice cubes in my hand and hitting myself in the head and crying from exhaustion and thowing up.. literally#ridiculous cartoon character feeling... AAANYWAY!!! At least I have baby boy pictures. and I have lots of doctors appointments so hopefully#whatever the issue is can be sorted out at some point. I don't know much about ibs but hopefully maybe something like that that I could pos#ibly take medication for and not something more seirous or anything. Maybe there's a food I'm secretly intolerant to or whatever.#And I did at least post a sims holday video actually timed for the holidays so that's something. I havent been productive really latrely#though obviously.. I can't even play games or small tasks when in that state since I'm just SO physically uncomfortable. Nausea and heart#stuff are THE hardest physical sensations to ignore.. BUT yeah... hoping I shall sleep at all tonight. hopeing to get like 3 productive#things done.. at some point... at least SOMETHING... lol..... *** *** ***

as someone who cannot deal with mobile gacha games post-2016 I AM cautiously intrigued by infinity nikki. visuals look fantastic and so cute, the platforming in the ign gameplay i saw seemed a little rough but as long as its not too hard i'll be fine (<- said as a person who is shockingly bad at 3d platformers) but i am hopeful. if its a fun game to play i'll be really excited, as someone who's only played nikki up2u ive always been curious about how that normal girl dressup game turned into like. nikkis hellscape or whatever ive heard about it. nikkis torture dimension. nikkis purgatorial plain of endless suffering. thats my understanding of the franchise at least.
#up2u was the only one i could handle orz also the only one out at the time LOL but i did try the others at later points#i dropped off pretty quick tho because UNFORTUNATELY like i said i really really cannot deal with gacha game pacing#like specifically post 2016 ish it got really bad because games got more complicated. so the opening tutorial would be like hours long#and it would always piss me off. and by the time i got to the actual game i was too burnt out to read the stories#plus a big mobage design philosophy rn is like. grind for a reward. but that doesnt work on me if i dont like the grind#i love grindy games. i love number go up. i love repetitive tasks. but the focus has to be the grind#the grind cant be designed like an obstacle. which is why i didnt really like sif2 despite my adoration for sif1 LOL#rest in pieces............... its about the grind being the fun part in the mechanics. if the fun part is just the gacha and story well#i'd really rather them just be visual novels orz my mobile game curse.........#anyway. i hope its good!! and i hope its like a normal priced game rather than f2p for my sake <3

#not that i didn't know it would happen but i guess i still had some hope#my nerves have been in shambles for the past two months and for what. they still passed the fucking law and my country is hurtling towards#authoritarianism at an alarming pace and we'll soon become russia's backyard and nobody gives a fuck :)#should've saved my nerves and not worried from the start because what's the fucking point then huh#god i wanna die#and we're fucking alone in this. at the mercy of 84 bootlickers who will do anything for money#and i'm supposed somehow live knowing they're just doing that? to their own people? there are no words to describe how much violence i wish#on them. i want to see them beaten and tortured just like they're doing to the protesters#anyway. trying really hard not to have a breakdown in the middle of university but it's not working lol#damn. life is so easy when you can just not care about stuff because it's not happening to you#and i'm also somehow expected to finish my thesis in these conditions???? man.

every time i find a (typically more recent) YA/fantasy series that turns out to have an abundant dedicated fandom writing long essays, fics and pumping out amazing fanart on the daily, with those posts averaging 200-400+ notes-1K+ for fanart, i get a bit sad and jealous that maguire isn't achieving this despite all the exposure (musical, upcoming movie, being based on the american cultural staple that is wizard of oz)
what went wrong with the wicked years? can't be only the feline sex parts 😩
#yes in plural#gregory maguire#i can elaborate. i didn't because biggass rants look ugly on my blog#basically i've gone to finding his writing chaotic to thinking he's on par with some lauded xix-xx c. “non-fandomable” authors#the amount of times i got told i write like him when i was just referencing turn of phrases and narrative pacing by said authors#(which wasn't a lot of times because i don't write for characters ppl read often. but in relative terms? a lot hehe)#and why? because modern ya/fantasy got linear character/action-centric stories infused with battle and romance#trust me i often try to read them but i end up bored like “this isn't for me lol” and go back to aforementioned classic authors#maguire is more world-centric and poetic which isn't necessarily worse. it's different. and when ur tired of the former it's better#insert here that iq bell curve where at the middle you're like “this is bad” but at the extremes you realize maguire is masterful#which means ur either very wise or very unwise (shit taste). maybe i just have shit taste. i ask myself that every day#considering even my faves in gm's work are unpopular#but can you really tell in a sample of what... <10 people#i think the movie HAD a chance of redeeming this but it won't#anyway i'll delete this sometime but while i don't feel free to debate

My brain has gone back and forth on between which anime if arma or new is my favorite. Cause even with all its issues Arma means a lot to me, it’s the reason I got into getter and helped me through one of the worst times of my life- But then new is objectively better written and it drives me nuts compared to arma it’s not talked about ENOUGH despite all the stuff you can poke at from it’s plot and I’m trying to pinpoint that reason since the general consensus is “no one hates new and it gets a lot of fanart in the Japanese community yet it’s never deeply acknowledged so it feels unpopular”
So my standpoint is “do I keep investing into the popular iteration despite its issues or do I invested into the less flawed unpopular iteration when it comes to introducing getter to new people?” cause man as much as I’m a critical person of media I still can forgive some messy writing if I have a good time with it and can clearly tell the staff had fun making it, which is definitely armas case. (Though they absolutely had fun with new too)
#meg text#getter robo#this general philosophy I have is why im not harshly critical on SVN next to “I think it fulfills it’s purpose”#and a few other mechas I’ve seen but not gonna tag because I don’t wanna put them in their tag when this is just getter#I was tempted to make a post asking about what people don’t find appealing about new but it be on twit and blegh#I’d ask it here and if anyone has input feel FREE to put but my following is way to small to generate the feedback I want#but on Twitter people are dumb and I’m not taking the “new has bad animation” take any longer bc it’s cherry picked#next to “we all know this is better animation then arc LOL” even if that whole debate as stupid#but past that point I’m trying to understand what people don’t like to find new unappealing when it’s flaws aren’t turn offs#like Musashibo not having a proper character arc and the villains not being consistent is a big one but doesn’t make the show bad#especially because there’s still good from those issues being Musashibo still a fun character and the villains don’t ruin the pacing#you could maybe make the argument new starts off slow but also all of the introduction episodes are engaging??#there’s not a single thing about new-let alone getter when it’s paced right-that feels sluggish#Also for a 13 ep show picking up in the middle makes the MOST sense in comparison to a longer ep series#the middle is when shit hits the fan tbh#im gonna be at war until I hear someone’s in depth opinion but I just WANNA figure out what turns off people from new#cause when I also watched it in a group I had irls drop out of it midway through but I could chalk it up to they weren’t huge on mecha#Even if I argue new is the PERFECT mecha show to recommend to someone who’s skeptical of the genre but I digress

guys I am actually going crazy. I swear to GOD last year someone posted a MAP of Elfsburg circa tsc2/tsc3. I SWEAR TO GOD. I REMEMBER REBLOGGING IT. I CAN'T FUCKING FIND IT. PLEASE TELL ME I AM NOT HALLUCINATING.
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR IT FOR 24 HOURS NOW TO FIX UP SOME SQUARE BRACKETS IN THE NEXT CHAPTER OF CS AND I CANNOT FIND IT! DOES ANYONE ELSE REMEMBER THIS? OR MAYBE HAVE IT ON HAND?????

ok, i havent been as freaked out as others, and have been a firm believer in what the 2 years of planned content meant (that 2 years was, well, all that was initially planned, and that doesnt mean the game would just be abandoned afterwards. they would just venture into territory beyond initial planning) ive been very firm and weirdly hopeful in my belief that there Will be more. regardless ive just realized, are we not still currently within the realm of the "two years of planned content" for splatoon 3...? i get that sizzle season trailer was really late but now im like hey man. havent even hit year 2 yet, its ok guys. next season however i suppose would be the time to worry, as that will officially mark the two year anniversary. that, and some of the catalog items (a title set "thank you for" and "playing") and the final image in the catalog feeling very much send off-y, big adjustments to a ton of maps ... it cant help but feel like its gearing up to an end -.- blehh ... the finite lifespan of an online game. i think essentially i wanted to say ive always had faith that 2 years wouldnt be the end but now i am Actually scared. i dont WANT the new switch i dont want splatoon 4 i dont want a final fest to happen any time soon. grrrr ......... new consoles .......
