okay but what if maria used to have a strained relationship with her dad and she tells ellie about it after ellie and joel stop talking. and ellie is like????? i thought u adored your dad wtf how did u forgive him?? what happened??
and maria tells her what helped, that moving out and becoming her own person with her own space really helped open her up. and THATS how they get the idea to convert the garage into ellie’s space

My heart is moved by all I cannot save: so much has been destroyed
I have to cast my lot with those who age after age, perversely,
with no extraordinary power, reconstitute the world.

So you know how some cats have to be kept out of the bathroom at all costs because they will shred the toilet paper at any opportunity?
That's Gil. Not in the bathroom, because frankly he is not tall enough to reach it. But I have pretty bad allergies, so sometimes when I'm out of tissues or whatever, I'll grab a roll of paper towels or toilet paper to blow my nose on.
Before the last year of my life, this was a fine thing to do. The roll of paper would remain unmolested except when I needed to blow my nose again.
Now, I have to remain eternally vigilant, lest the child realize that roll of paper exists within his reach. He will sneakily pick it up, move it just far enough away that I don't notice his shenanigans until it's too late, and then gleefully claw at it until there is nothing left but shreds that I will keep finding scraps of for weeks, no matter how hard I try to clean up.
Anyway, happy nearly first Gotcha Day to Gilgamesh, sweetest and most gremliny of princelings. Looking back on the dates... I only just realized that we acquired him on the Ides of March and maybe should have called him Caesar or Julius, because that's hilarious. Maybe that needs to be added to his litany of names belatedly? GILGAMESH CAESAR has a fucking ring to it, you know?

Reasons why MUSHI-SHI is the greatest animated series of all time and you should watch it right now:
The world is so incredibly beautiful that even the most mundane shots wre filled with a sense of wonder and awe. The animation is gorgeous. It's popular online to be obsessed with the Ghibli studio nature and wildlife shots but really nothing ever seemed as real and stunning and utterly breathtaking to me as the world of MUSHI-SHI.
It's an anthology where each episode tells a separate story from beginning to end. The central character Ginko is the same but he's rarely the main character, and is simply pleasant to observe as he travels across the world and meets people with rich lives, unique problems, interesting relationships, and fates ranging from inspirigly joyful to soul-crushingly tragic.
Every episode is filled with so, so much love for the world, nature, people, every living thing, every animal and plant and creature. Just. So, so much love. It's as if the author personally comes down from their godly throne to give you a hug and a kiss on the forehead and tells you that things are going to be okay.
The characters are real and alive. They face strange, often fantastical problems, but their reactions and struggles in the face of those problems are as real as you and I. You meet them in the beginning of an episode, you spend twenty minutes with them, and they're gone - but you feel like you have known them all your life.
The sound design is just as beautiful as the animation.
The concepts behind each episode are unique, creative, magical, and so thought-provoking I keep pacing around my room after each episode because I need time to process it.
Character designs are so endearing. Their features are simple, often similar, but still remaining unique through the tiniest details - the way they style their hair, the shapes of their eyes, the incline of their nose.
The weather has such a strong presence throughout the episodes. The way the sea behaves, the wind blows, the snow falls, the way the characters dress, shiver, walk, live in the unique and often temperamental microclimates. The sea trade, the boats, the nets, the islands. The way the clouds move. Sometimes you just watch Ginko walk through a mountain pass and that's enough.
Because it's an anthology, it can't rely on cliffhangers and cheap hooks to get you to keep watching. You can watch the episodes in any order at all. Because there are no tricks the series can use to hold your attention, it has to rely on raw concise storytelling, and it's so good at that! It always has a story to tell and wants to get to it as fast as possible, but it never ever feels rushed. People meet, change, die, years pass, but Ginko still finds the time to sit in the shade of a tree and look at the ripples on the ocean surface.
A small thing, but a bit of animation that really stuck out to me was Ginkowalking through a narrow doorway and stooping awkwardly, like any tall person would. It's all real like this, not in a gif-able, croppable, tiktok-able way, just... All of it.
I'll put some screenshots below. They're not some important major shots, most of them were on screen for only a second. It's all like this. All. Sorry for the bad quality, I was watching it on my phone.

Just please trust me and go watch it. Seriously. I have never praised anything so highly in my entire life. I genuinely believe that this is the best piece of media I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy.

The childhood magical race of people with wings I made up after the first time I watched Osmosis Jones were called Margins (exactly like the margins of a book) and it took me way too long to remember that but I didn’t feel particularly sad because I self-imposed a rule basically from the start that said you can’t be one after you turn 18 (because you’re not a kid anymore) so I’ve basically already mourned the death of the concept.
They were just a magical race of mostly girls who would go into worlds (books and shows) and fix the bad things that happened to people or just be friends with them without telling them they were Margins. It’s no surprise that I write fanfiction now. Honestly, I should have seen that coming.
The planet you had to portal to was called Domino and only one city was in the bubble of habitability because some Margin (maybe me? I don’t think I ever decided.) destroyed the place in a big damn magic burst and now nothing grows there. I think maybe sometimes we had to fight off black vines or something but I can’t be sure.
There was also a preliminary period before you became a Margin where you were just a fairy/pixie and had to use a wand. But I got really bored with that quickly cause it was just magic school for rules I was making up so I just made it part of my character lore that I had been too strong for wands and they exploded whenever I tried to use them.
Also my mentor figure was the statue of Zeus from Disney’s Hercules and Domino was somewhere near Mars because I decided Martians were cool and wanted to be their friend thanks to that one Tom and Jerry movie.

When my friends are hurting, when they're telling me what's going on in their lives, and I sit here on the other side of the phone or PC and wonder, "How will I ever say the right thing to my friend, to let them know that I care, that I hope the best outcome for this heinous situation they are in?"
And then, after a few minutes of letting them talk, they say something that I know the answer to, they say the right combination of words that make my brain go, "OH! THIS! I have Exp in this specific thing! I can tell them the smartest, most important thing I ever learned about being in This Situation!"
And then I do, and then they thank me for the new perspective they are now able to look at, and thank me for being good at pep talks. And then I remember that I have value.

What the fuck
I have many thoughts about many things, but currently I am devestated by the fact that I can't find any Inception au cod fics
Right????
How is this possible????
The whole concept of dream sharing was *made* for the military (like- In Canon!!!!!!!) so they could train without injuring people
Now consider the possibilities, pls I beg
It's a *dream* world, the whole premise of the movie was how someones✨Emotional Trauma✨ impacted everyone they dreamt with
Consider your found family, your ships, the emotional growth, the hurt/comfort, the sneaking into private dreams to chase away the nightmares, kisses in dreams that you can't tell are real, growing old alone in a dream, and being pulled back to your youth by someone who loves you
I'm just saying it's a missed oppourtunity
And if someone doesn't do it, then I'll finally use my Ao3 account for something other than spamming kudos to cool fics

Here's the thing: I DO empathize with Mojo's trauma. If anything, I've always seen myself in Mojo and it was more of a "war against the mirror" type of deal. I'm hoping in my ask blog to address his trauma from the perspective of someone who relates to him a little too much. I almost feel like it will be kinda theraputic to get it all out.
ohhh yeah for sure

Yes you are right this award did him more wrong than good.
I think it's far too soon to tell anon. People spending a few days being mean to him over the Grammys particularly is not necessarily a problem. It'll be a while before we'll know about long term impacts.
