I'm watching The Artful Dodger with Thomas Broie-Sangster (my beloved) and David Thewlis (aka Remus, my beloved), and I am beyond tickled by David Thewlis pretending to be a priest

My favourite thing about John Gaius is that he's the most Millennial villain imaginable:
Evil, but not in a way that involves a deliberate choice of morality vs immorality in the traditional sense. Just angry, disillusioned, hurt, and unable to see a good way out of a shitty situation, so he figures he might as well... Do All That.
Does in fact not seem to have a firm moral framework of any kind.
Winging it. Always.
Bumbling and socially inapt, in a way he thinks is endearing, but that everyone else just finds wildly annoying.
Perfectly capable of getting his shit together when the situation forces him to, but just cannot be arsed most of the time. (Weaponised incompetence, anyone?)
Overinflated sense of self, but tied into a massive inferiority complex. Also, entitlement issues. (Built a strictly hierarchical empire with himself at the top, but likes to wear jeans and T-shirts and considers himself to be just some guy. Still makes everyone call him God.)
Member of an extended polycule where everyone hates him.
Disaster bi.
Emperor of half the universe, but his living situation is essentially a shitty flatshare. They even cook terrible food together.
Desperate for affection but completely terrible at relationships. Mistakes sex for emotional intimacy at every turn.
Stumbles into unplanned fatherhood by accident (from his side anyway) and to exactly nobody's surprise turns out to be a terrible dad.
Likes to pretend everything is fine and normal, even when it really, really isn't.
When that becomes untenable, he runs away from his problems, creating worse ones in the process.
Nostalgic for a bygone past, but in the most superficial way possible.
Irony poisoning.

Asuka is a tragic figure, a figure of mystery, a wild card, all because the only thing she wants in life is peace and quiet for herself and to feel in control- yet her secret heritage that may be hidden from her for her own protection and the reality that life is unpredictable and will go on with or without you keep ruining that delusion, that vision of how the world is meant to work to her, and she suffers regardless of what she wants, what she does, and how little she understands anything
She was born into a family preaching peace and balance and order while being a creature of violence, and puts a dozen mental locks and excuses over this truth to justify giving into her impulse for fighting by pretending she's justice when she does it
She keeps trying to build a place of safety but she's using sand and life is a wave that destroys, yet she stubbornly persists rather than give up, not drowned to the point of self centered suicidal loathing like Jin- there's contrast, where Jin is cloaked in death Asuka stubbornly clings to life and humanity as a normal person in a terrifying world
She's not a fucking narrative clone for Jun's own purpose, Asuka's purpose must be determined by Asuka herself

I'm bored so here is some improv poetry for Feral Casey AU
All I've ever known
All I've ever known was the Kraang
Our way of life and living, always hunting and killing and eating
Not thinking
Don't think about how your food looks like you
If you don't want to starve you'll eat it to survive
Survive
But never thrive because inside you're not alive
The Kraang lives up high while the rest of us hide
Don't try to make your own choice because Kraang never gives you a voice
They twist it, torment it, your past life has ended
Say you have family and you'll be reprimanded
Close up your esophagus lest you'd be put in a sarcophagus
Enough of this apocalypse
It's not an apocalypse
It's our humanity
The Kraang is revamping Earth's vanity
Sacrificing your sanity
We're not the enemy
We are saviors to save your planet, at least that's what we're planning
It's not a genocide or colonization
Alien superiority is the organization
Humans are inferior which is why we live down below
Even as the parasites seep in our bones
"We're the heroes of the story", Prime says and it shows
Because after all this life is
All I've ever known

You say share AUs with you like that wouldn't be slightly intimidating xD
But :x AU where the Watchers steal Grian's voice (dunno why, haven't gotten that far), no talking no laughter no sound at all, and Grian acts like it's fine. It is! They have communicators! He can still talk to the hermits while X and Doc try and figure it out! Honestly he's close enough with some that facial expressions and gestures are enough to have a whole conversation sometimes. And bonus, he doesn't have to hold back his giggles when setting up a prank, Scar literally can't hear him laughing as he's tunneling under the base. .... but being in big groups is hard, he can't quip like he used to, by the time he's got a line halfway typed out the conversation moved on and the joke dies on his keyboard. (No hermit is excluding him on purpose!! Just, that's how talking flows and typing can't always keep up!) Can't hear him laugh but... can't hear him cry either.
I have nothing written, I haven't written in a loooong time, this just lives in my head. :x

noo don't be intimidated. i'm harmless. i'm just a silly dummy. i love talking about aus and things. c'mere and share freely as much as you want! <3
OHHH mute grian! it's interesting that it also translates to any other noises. he can't cry! he can't laugh! (gathering this angst lovingly in my arms)
he can sob and nobody will hear it. he can hide and nobody will be any wiser. he— you know, he can't call for help, or call attention to himself, or even greet his friends. he can't call out scar's name, he can't say hi or bye to anyone. he needs eyes on him, or time to type and people's attention on the chat, and he doesn't always get those things.
(scar in particular forgets to check the chat, even when he's with grian. he sees him type, he just. he's a bit silly.) (grian has to make signs and meticulously place them and type on them to get scar to see any of his words, and even that has only like 50% chance of success.)
(he misses talking to scar.)
imagine cub gives him a bunch of custom horns. he means well. he tried to make some useful ones. but none of them feel like grian, or match quite what he wants to say.
his steps are still audible, but if he can't say a person's name or a greeting, he keeps accidentally sneaking up on people. he doesn't know how to alert them without it being absolutely ridiculous. they startle. mumbo especially lets out a loose comment directly after a scare, about how grian can't do that.
he doesn't mean it like that.
but maybe grian starts approaching hermits less.
