#and Apollo’s perception of Phoenix is not Phoenix’s responsibility
Text
Tumblr media
I’m going to be honest, Apollo thinking Phoenix was better than that is 100% Apollo’s problem, not Phoenix’s.
Their first interaction included Phoenix proving that he is willing to martyr others to tip the scales in his favor. He shouldn’t be surprised the lengths he’ll go to just because they’re no longer on the same side.

HELP I will throw out there several fandoms I like because whynot ASDFGH excuse to talk
What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character?
FMA: I mean for Riza is the whole "xd mean serious girlboss who has to control her manchild husband" I hate it will all my soul and sours everything I hold dear SDFGH In the same vein people taking this interpretation as if is more "Progressive & Feminist" as if it also didn't center her characterization around the man LOL
Cosmere: For Shallan huh absolutely everything <3 If there is one way I can summarize it all is that Stormlight is a series that deals with very human morality and is very sad that most people I see take Shallan's own perception of being "A terrible person who has done irredeemable stuff" at face value and run as if thats the intended takeaway and not "This woman is extremely traumatized to the point any mistake she makes her extremely anxious to the point she keeps digging her own holes deeper and deeper". Again head too full of thoughts and anger I am taking her away
Ace Attorney: For Maya is the people that treat her like an baby child LOL like YEA she is A Teenager she is immature and all but also she is someone who every single responsibility was put on since her mother's disappearance and sister leaving. I think is a perspective thing because she acts more carefree around Phoenix but that's because... that's the point. I think people usually diminish her input and role in Phoenix's life and narrative as a whole and she ends up just at the funny quirky girl that third-wheels the attorney yaoi
One Piece: See with this one I just don't go out looking for anything anyone has to say about Nami or Robin or Sanji❤️ or literally anything I understand the One Piece fandom is not a place I should ever lay hands on if I want to keep my sanity ❤️❤️❤️
If you had to choose one major character to die, who would you choose?
FMA: Huuh Note already for this whole question in very much a guy that usually doesn't like to see characters die LOL And in FMA I really can't think of anyone SDSFGH I think in canon manga every death is perfect and in 03... Idunno, I don't wish for Roy to have died I mostly just wonder how did Archer shot him in a way to only take his eye but not killed him?????? Idunno I don't care as much LOL Cosmere: I want Dalinar dead and gone in book 5 thank you
Ace Attorney: Lmao no main characters die here lol although I think they should have kept Phoenix in his Apollo Justice characterization and out of the spotlight. But like, this is an extremely lukewarm take lol One Piece: Again I don't want any of my wiwis to die </3 HOWEVER I do have the take that if someone has to die... it would be Luffy or Luffy AND Zoro. Idunno how to explain it but if just the captain dies it makes sense that the crew has to go on with their lives, but only Zoro dying feels... oddly asymmetrical? Idunno, it feels wrong and not even for any particular story reason it just does lol. If Luffy AND Zoro die it feels fitting because both their goals have an specific end point and it just so happens that end point is connected. Also heaven and hell symbology... The God and the King of the Underworld.... AGAIN I DON'T WANT THEM TO DIE and I really don't think they will but if it has to this is how I see it going down shrugs

Okay but have you ever thought about how challenging it would be for s/o to deal with the WAA gang? Like they all had dope-ass special abilities to see through people: Nick's magatama, Apollo's perceiving and Athena's super hearing. It was nearly impossible s/o could hide from this trio, unless they were superb at hiding their true emotions or lying :0 (Suzume anon)
I'm thinking about it now Suzume Anon and I'm liking what I'm seeing.
Phoenix is literally gonna be the protector of the group, he's the oldest after all. He sees it as his responsibility to keep S/O safe and sound at the agency. Any secrets that they have will be exposed by the psyche-locks and promptly broken, they don't need to hide anything after all!
Apollo is definitely going to be the one to call out the smaller white lies, he'd know so much about them, including all of their telling signals so one word from Apollo and S/O will have Nick and Athena on their case to find out exactly what's going on.
Athena is gonna be using her heightened hearing and her emotional perception to make sure that S/O is emotionally stable. Also, if S/O somehow gets away from them to hide, it'll be Athena who will probably find them first.

Kristoph and Trucy are each other's foil, send tweet
- both mentor Apollo (Kristoph with law shit, Trucy with his Perception)
- both are Apollo's defense assistant in aj
- both are firmly in the "well-mannered, does crime" corner on the feral/well-mannered and doesn't crime/does crime graph
- both are responsible for Phoenix's downfall
- both are sweet talkers (see: Kristoph & Vera. see: Trucy & Ema, "flattery will get you anywhere with her!")
- Kristoph is a huge bitch to his brother ("I'm afraid my brother is incapable of making a rational judgement atm" among other things) vs Trucy beng nothing but supportive of her brother despite not even being aware of that relation.
- Kristoph criming around for his own benefit (for his pride, to cover his own tracks, ect) vs Trucy criming around for the sake of her loved ones (helping her fathers, gaining some time for Apollo so he WON'T get sniped by the mob, ect)

Please... I wanna know more abt the urban fantasy AU... it's so fun
@collaberal-damage OH GOSH... mLKDfsmmdslk this is the part where I have to reveal the fact that I’m a sham and I actually have VERY little worked out. LIKE. I’VE BEEN DESPERATELY WANTING TO COME UP WITH WORLD BUILDING STUFF... Rules of the setting and details about other characters and whatnot??? But the two people I talk about it w/ the most aren’t canon familiar past the trilogy so I haven’t done a ton of bouncing ideas around yet. Which makes this ask a blessing?? I actually worked out a few things in the course of writing it, so, thank you for that :’)
This got horrendously long and is probably way, WAY more info than you were asking for, I’m so sorry.
Unsurprisingly most of what I have worked out has to do w/ Edgeworth and how werewolves work?? Because this whole thing really started with narumitsu fluff/angst and just wound up expanding beyond that when I began to ponder what kind of monsters/entities the other characters would be.
Lycanthropy in this setting: I think it comes in a lot of different flavors and can be passed on to someone else by a number of means? But the old rule of Receive Bite From Werewolf = You Are Now Also Cursed, definitely still holds true, and the contagious factor of the condition is just one of the reasons why they are frequently stigmatized within supernatural society.
They’re also generally perceived as being volatile and dangerous, because transformations outside of the full moon can trigger if the individual is put under enough stress (hence Edgeworth getting ‘furrier’ whenever he gets flustered. Which, INCIDENTALLY, never used to happen before Phoenix showed back up in his life, DAMN That Man). There’s this perception that no ‘upstanding/upper-class citizens’ are werewolves, basically, and Edgeworth has been conditioned to believe that it would ruin his career if his “true nature” were exposed to the public.
Apollo is also a werewolf, but he hasn’t been conditioned to hate himself in the same way Edgeworth has, so he’s more in touch with that side of himself. PLUS, he doesn’t have the same image to keep up that Edgeworth does. Obviously he has OTHER problems going on, but being constantly in fear of being exposed to the world as a wolf man isn’t one of them.
(CW for this next bit, emotional abuse of a young child) Miles has had lycanthropy since he was very small and MVK uses his condition as an additional means by which to emotionally abuse and manipulate him. Mainly by doing gross shit like:
subtly implying that he’s sub-human!
reminding him that his emotions make him a danger to others and that it’s his responsibility to lock them all away. (If it serves the interest of turning him into a stone cold conviction machine, all the better)
Shit talking monsters and supernatural entities in general, as if Miles isn’t even there and listening to all this shit.
In terms of SETTING and what society looks like in this AU, here’s some loose ideas that I’m still ironing out:
Magic/Monsters/Etc are sort of a “loosely kept” secret, like the rest of the world can’t know about (or interact with?) the whole supernatural community for Reasons that I’m still trying to settle on.
There’re a handful of privileged humans who help keep the lid on this whole secret side of society by using sorcery and such.
MOSTLY the people in these positions are just those who have the means/connections/social standing to be able to learn magic in the first place. Like magical capability in humans is not based on a particular natural aptitude or anything, it’s just, “can you get access to the resources you need to learn to cast spells safely”.
Unsurprisingly, a lot of the people in these positions of power are basically hoarding influence/wealth under the guise of keeping both worlds “safe” from each other.
Some other tidbits we’ve worked out...
As he’s part dragon, Phoenix has some VERY minimal rain/weather based powers. Unfortunately they’re SUPER unreliable and he can’t really control them? Like he rarely knows for sure if any particular rainstorm is actually caused by him or not.
Sometimes it starts raining while he and Edgeworth are out somewhere, and Phoenix just absentmindedly apologizes for it without explaining why.
This baffles Edgeworth immensely. Why in the heck is this idiot apologizing on behalf of the WEATHER???
Later on, when the “I’m part dragon” conversation does finally happen, he looks back on these moments with horror and wonders how he didn’t logic that shit together sooner.
Larry Butz is just a normal human dude, but his whole family has been like, immensely cursed? He’s basically Stanley Yelnats. The poor man just keeps stumbling into fucked up supernatural scenarios.
Y’know that whole upper crust society of people who’re trying to keep a lid on all this magical stuff that I mentioned previously? They have basically just given up trying to keep him out of this shit, because it just KEEPS HAPPENING.
Regarding the Feys: I think I’ve settled on them being a very old family of fox-folk/kitsune(?)?? The Kurain channeling technique in this case is like a very rare form of spiritual magic that only they can master, but they’re also adept at other kinds of spells too! Maya frequently uses her abilities to pull silly pranks on Nick.
Franziska likely got cursed with vampirism at some point in the months after her father was convicted for killing Gregory. MVK was not a vampire himself and generally held disdain for non-humans, so uhh. That’s a fun new issue for her that I’m looking forward to potentially exploring a bit further :’)
Will Powers is also a werewolf. This is part of what draws Edgeworth to the Steel Samurai series, because it’s inspirational to him that the guy behind the mask has the same magical condition that he does!
Regarding the Gavin brothers: I think they’re both demon or fey or something. I haven’t worked out much beyond that, but I’m open to suggestions!
Pretty much anyone who has an animal sort of aspect to them inherently has the ability to shift into that animal, just bc I think that’s fun. Kay can turn into a crow, Maya and Pearls can turn into foxes, Edgeworth and Apollo (obviously) can turn into wolves... The exception is Phoenix, who can’t turn into a dragon... At least, not that hes’ aware of?? IDK maybe that’s an ability he can unlock further down the line. The idea of noodle dragon Feen IS extremely appealing.
I have not figured out any explanations or roles for Trucy, or the Gramaryes, or the Perceive ability just yet, but it is ON MY LIST. Trucy is best girl and and I don’t want to leave her out of the fun.

"What do you want?"
Miles' pen halted and he contemplated brushing the question off for a moment. "What do you mean, Wright?" he instead settled on an equally curt question. It only seemed fair.
"I mean, like..." Wright only sat still, his mouth open, as he tried to think an explanation for it. "Your goal. What do you really want?"
The emphasis on the want was unnecessary, but Miles acknowledged him with a wry scoff. "...justice, what else?" It seemed he had answered a bit too slowly, as Wright was on him--metaphorically, of course--in an instant.
"Just justice? That's a bit of a meek want, especially since it's something you only recently were driven towards." The attorney's huff at the end was a bitter reminder of his still-present ill feelings towards Edgeworth's sudden 'death' several years prior. "You don't have anything else that's, say," the man's volume suddenly dropped, "more personal?"
The arrow hit its mark, but the prosecutor would not back down yet. "Seeking justice is as much a personal concern as a professional concern, mind you," Miles simply retorted, straightening his files. "I have no such of the personal desires you inquire me for, Phoenix Wright."
"Really?"
"Certainly."
Wright stared through him with pursed lips, his urge to press forward obvious and obnoxious; as always. "No...perhaps, romantic wants?"
"Had I not told you I have no interesting in being wed?" Edgeworth's own lying annoyance rang through his ears and he cleared his throat in an attempt to silence it. "I care not for romantic relationships; I keep everything purely professional."
"So, we're purely professional best friends?" The defense attorney had started to get dangerously close to the prosecutor. "I think that's a little contradictory, Edgeworth."
His tone alerted said man to keep an even voice, "I think not? We've known each other for more than twenty years, I'm sure you, of all people, understand that." Phoenix then flatly murmured something including the word 'liar' and 'locks' and Edgeworth found his own breathing had suddenly silenced. "Pardon?"
"Nothing." The response was choked out, but a response nonetheless. "But you're sure?"
"Incredibly sure, so, stop asking. I'm trying to work," the prosecutor continued to emphasize his point with a pen click. "And shouldn't you as well?" It was more of a plead to leave his office than a suggestion.
The former hummed questioningly before processing his demand. "Ooh... nah," Wright grinned, "Apollo and Athena have everything under control," he paused, "probably."
"Prob-" Miles sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "You're too carefree. You should be more wary about your job, Wright. I'd rather you not lose it again."
"Hey, you can't joke about that!"
"I assure you, I'm not joking."
"You're cruel!" Despite his words, Phoenix laughed. Miles couldn't help as he smiled a bit, though he quickly hid it with clearing his throat. "You don't needa worry about it. You...You helped me and I'm...so, so thankful."
"I was merely helping..." the taller man blinked, thinking through his words carefully, "...a friend." The hesitation in his reply visibly displeased Wright, but otherwise the attorney said nothing else.
After a few moments, the office went silent, besides the occasional paper rustle as Edgeworth organized files. He was quite grateful for it. He would finally be able to finish these final documents...
"You look quite cute in glasses, did you know that?"
"...P-Pardon?" Miles tried to wrap his head around what he said.
Phoenix sat there with a smile on his face, staring right at him. "Glasses. You look cute in them."
"...c-cute..?"
"Attractive? ...Hm..." the defense attorney tapped his chin in thought. "One of those. I like them." He gently reached out, slipping his index under Edgeworth's chin. "And your eyes..." he didn't finish his sentence, but what he wanted to say was in the air.
"Wh-What kind of n-nonsense..." Miles trailed off into a mumble, but he didn't pull away. He only averted his eyes for a moment.
"It's not nonsense at all, Miles."
"N-Ngh...You..."
"Gimme a kiss?" Wright tilted his head, leaning over the prosecutor's desk. "Please?" Desire gleamed in his eyes.
"W-Wright..." Miles could barely breathe, and he liked it. Wright's finger against his skin was hot, and he liked it. In a moment of feverish temptation, he cupped the former's cheek and brought him into a kiss. Warmth flooded his face as he felt lips move against his and, god, it was intoxicating. And it almost stung.
After a moment, they separated, if separated meant barely centimeters apart still.. Miles was surprisingly disheveled and Phoenix looked surprisingly happy. "Holy shit...I've been wanting to do that for years," he murmured.
Despite his own joy, something still hurt. Attraction. Was it romantic? Did he only want his body?
"...please." His tone was so pathetic it hurt, but Edgeworth could deal. "Please, tell me it isn't just physical."
"What isn't just physical..?"
"Please don't just be physically attracted to me," Edgeworth practically begged. "I-I can't handle that kind of--"
"No?" Phoenix seemed to realise he sounded more questioning. "No," he repeated firmly. "God, no. Miles, I love you for you. I have for...what, since we were kids? Your courage, your kindness, your passion, your honesty; you're amazing in every single way. I'm lucky enough that you're just as handsome in and out."
Miles knew he meant it. And, god, he felt more for the man in front of him than he could verbalize. Relief relaxed his nerves and he pecked Phoenix on the lips again. "I...love you."
The other man chuckled, a smirk on his face. "I know. You're a bad liar." Though his smirk wasn't mean. Not mean like von Karma's when Miles messed up, or like Gant's when he had presented forged evidence. It was a nice smirk, because it was Phoenix.
"Maybe I am, but what does that make a certain bluffing defense attorney?" He received an indignified scoff in retort. "You're just as bad as me, darling," the nickname rolled off his tongue easily. It seemed to fluster Wright as well, as he stuttered in response. Miles decided he'd keep it.
He must've been smirking a lot since Phoenix rolled his eyes exasperatedly. "I never knew you were such a sap," he mumbled into his palm as he sat back down, "It reminds me of Larry and that's scary."
"I'm nothing like Larry," Miles retorted, "Unlike him, I have an IQ above than room temperature." The former laughed and Miles couldn't help but relish in the fact that he made him laugh.
"Cut the guy some slack, he's just...uh..."
"He's the complete opposite embodiment of someone with a good head on their shoulders."
"...kinda. But he's still our friend."
Edgeworth ignored the faint spark of displeasure in his chest, pressing the edge of his pen into his finger. "Indeed."
*
After a few moments of silence, Phoenix allowed himself to stare, his point of interest being, obviously, Miles. He figured it wasn't inappropriate, considering what had just been passed between the two of them. Over two decades of holding out his feelings, and, finally... A small grin played out on his face. It didn't go unnoticed by the perceptive man across from him.
"What're you smiling about?" Edgeworth inquired, shuffling around files, though he'd guessed that the prosecutor had long since given up his full attention to the paperwork.
"I'm just happy, that's all," Wright hummed. When the former perked an eyebrow, the latter rolled his eyes, "I just had my first kiss, let me sap over it."
And, apparently, that was enough to surprise Miles. "First kiss?" he echoed. A thoughtful look flashed across his face for a second.
It'd been a retort in the spur of the moment, so Nick hadn't really thought about it. Heat slightly rose to his cheeks. "Yeah. First. You better be honored."
The magenta-clad man smirked in response. "Well then. That certainly does please me." He gazed over him for a moment, a certain gleam in his eyes that sent a shiver down Phoenix's spine. Something in his voice stood out, too. "Glad to know I was your first, darling."
Possessiveness, that's what it was.
If he was being honest, Phoenix didn't mind. In fact, it was kind of arousing.
Blushing at his own dirty thoughts, he mustered a reflection of his partner's smug expression. "Want another one for good measure?" he offered slyly. And it would've been a successful cover up of embarassment had he not went to prop his head up on his elbow, missing the edge of the desk, and promptly slamming his nose into the wood. "...ow."
Miles chuckled. "Hm. Let's move somewhere more...comfortable for that, shall we?" He gestured for Wright to get up as he did the same. Sliding from behind his desk, he took the defense attorney's hand and guided him to the sofa that sat perpendicular.
Wright found himself flushing red at the implications behind his words.
As he went to take a place besides where Edgeworth had sat, he was stopped by a hand on his waist, which did not help the blood flowing to his face. "Uh- Er- E-Edgeworth?" There was definitely a minor voice crack in there.
"Come now, Wright, you wanted another kiss, did you not?" Edgeworth kept his gaze locked on him and he slowly pulled Wright onto his lap. "I'd say it's easier this way. Any objections?"
Phoenix would've been damned had he turned down the golden opportunity. "The defense concurs," he managed, swallowing thickly.
"Let us continue the proceedings, then." The prosecutor's hand slowly lowered to the former's thigh, giving it a firm squeeze.
Phoenix let out an embarassing noise. "M-Miles!" he tried to scold, but, god, did he melt into his hand. It was just the perfect distance away from somewhere else incredibly vital that it gave him both a shock of pleasure and the want for more.
"Yes?" Miles gazed at him innocently, but his hand slowly snaking further towards Phoenix's crotch betrayed his look. "Something the matter, darling?"
Wright opened his mouth to speak, but once he felt himself being gently palmed he couldn't form sentences. He only hummed lowly, relishing the partial friction. "You...nnh..."
All the while, the chief prosecutor kept his unknowing façade. "I cannot hear you if you mumble, Wright," he smiled, as if he wasn't the one reducing the other attorney to a blushing, muttering mess with his own hand.
"You-" Phoenix gasped as he just barely resisted from thrusting his hips forward in desperation for more. "-are a bad liar." Miles' smirk deepened.
"And yet you weren't able to find out my truth." His hand stopped. Fuck.
Lightly panting, the man stared at him with lidded eyes. Nine psyche-locks had appeared earlier when Phoenix inquired him about it. It was less than surprising. "Well, let me ask you again," he paused, gathering his breath. "What do you want?"
Edgeworth was much more prepared for the question now, finally looking him in the eye while he answered. "You. I want you to be mine and no one else's, in heart, soul, and body." He cupped his face, rubbing his thumb against the outline of his cheek.
The sentiment touched his heart, and he smiled lop-sidedly, still a little pleasure drunk. "Well." Phoenix leaned into his touch. "I'm all yours, Mi."
"Would you like that kiss, now?"
"Yes. Please."
Without waiting, the defense attorney smashed his lips into the prosecutor's, a shiver running through his nerves as the latter reciprocated with just as much hunger. Everything felt so good and right and nice, and he was getting too warm-
Phoenix pulled away after a heartbeat to mutter 'jacket' as comprehensibly as he could. Thankfully, Miles got the memo and carefully slid the blue jacket off. The former relished the cooler air that seeped into his dress shirt, but he still had too many layers for comfort. "Are-Are we safe in here? N-No one's gonna...?"
"The door's locked," Edgeworth responded without missing a beat. He'd started to trail kisses down Phoenix's jawline. "I'm rarely disturbed." His lips met the attorney's throat and oh, god, Phoenix loved it. "We'll be fine."
Wright shakily hummed in response, all his senses being narrowed down to where Edgeworth touched. All his competence had been reduced to nothing as he desperately tried to balance. "Mi- Hah~"
"Say my name more, my darling."
Phoenix obliged happily, breathily repeating 'Miles.' It seemed to drive the other man past his self-control. The attorney's waistcoat was all but dragged off, his under shirt following. The former now attacked his skin with bites and the latter couldn't keep his wits about him. "Mi- Oh, fuck-"
"Language, Phoenix," the more dominant man chastised, his breath brushing against Wright's ear, his fingers lightly circling the rings around his nipples. A moan escaped from the latter, the first to have been unstifled.
"G-God- Miles~" Nick dragged out. He'd long last lost his ability to sit straight, just barely propping himself up. "Please-"
The prosecutor caught his gaze. "Please, what?"
"Ravage me."
*
Well.
It was an unexpected reaction, to say the least, though not unwelcome.
Miles made haste to uncover more of Phoenix's body--deftly undoing his belt and working down those blue jeans. It proved quite difficult when he realised the man was in such a position that prevented them from slipping past his hips. Hm. He hadn't really wanted to change their position either.
A brief, enticing thought popped into Edgeworth's head, and he thought on it for a moment.
"Phoenix, can you stand?" To that, Phoenix nodded breathlessly. "Good. Stand."
Watching his darling comply eagerly filled him with a carnal instinct. "Jeans. Off, now."
Wright was left in his boxers, allowing Edgeworth a near full view of his body. Unsurprisingly, the man was quite toned, though you'd never be able to tell under the suit. His eyes trailed down to his hips.
Seeing how hard the defense attorney was made him chuckle, though he wasn't much better himself.
Miles figured he'd admired him long enough. There would be a more "personal examination" soon, after all. He held out his finger, beckoning Phoenix back onto his lap. "Are you sure you want me to 'ravage you'?" he murmured, exhaling slowly at the friction between Phoenix's length and his own. "I may not be able to hold back."
"It's been decades of miscommunication, I sure as hell hope you don't hold back," Wright shot him a stern look, which would've been somewhat intimidating, had he not been all but naked.
"Hm, point taken," the chief prosecutor shrugged slightly, now tracing the waistband of the former's briefs to his back, taking in the slight arches of his spine. Slipping in his hand, it didn't take much for him to pass over Phoenix's ass. Miles relished the gasp and hum that came from Phoenix as he lightly massaged and groped him.
He suddenly paused, realising something. A problem. Miles sighed quietly; Not without the attentive defense attorney noticing, though. "Wh-What is it?"
"Lube. We have none. I mean, we can continue, but the strain for you..."
He heard Phoenix swear under his breath and mutter something else, scratching his chin like he always did when thinking. "...do you have any lotion here?"
"Lotion? Well..." A glance around the office confirmed it. "No."
"Hm." Wright didn't give up, though. He was quite single-minded. "Gimme your hand. Don't ask questions, don't call me gross, it's perfectly acceptable." Why he'd ever need his hand at this moment was beyond the prosecutor; He offered his other hand nevertheless.
Miles didn't know what he expected, but it sure as hell wasn't Phoenix slipping three of his digits into his mouth.
In retrospect, it should've been revolting, yet he couldn't be more turned on. There was something about how the former's tongue ran along his fingers. Something about how his eyebrows arched up, his eyes fluttered shut. Apparently Phoenix Wright could make anything look attractive as hell.
Even the way Phoenix popped off, a wet noise barely there, with a thin string of saliva still connecting from his lips to the tips of Miles' fingers-
Ah, he'd started overanalyzing things again. Edgeworth shook his head, staring at his fingers. "Saliva as lube. I guess that works."
Wright lit up positively. "Okay, now, please, pleaseplease-" he basically guided his lover's hand back to his ass. More quiet pleads fell from his mouth in anticipation. Miles found it adorable.
Now having some way of entering easier, Miles pushed his first digit into the defense attorney's entrance. The latter moaned quietly.
He made sure to go slow, just incase it still stung, which was inevitable. He paid quiet attention to the man's reactions, though.
If Phoenix was in any pain, he didn't seem to show it.
Feeling reassured, he carefully added another.
Phoenix bit down on his lip, his body arching against Miles' fingers. "Oh, god~ Yes~"
Edgeworth smirked and leaned forward to steal his lips in a kiss, meanwhile pushing in the last finger. Wright's moan in his mouth was immaculate.
The shorter of the two pulled away, panting heavily.  "Is-Isn't it...ready..."
"Maybe." Miles was then suddenly aware of the suffocating layers of his own clothes. He'd been so occupied on Phoenix's pleasure to focus on his own. He sighed, his pants feeling especially tight.
He'd taken out his fingers when he was sure Phoenix was stretched enough- and, god, the sight of the panting, blushing, moaning mess of a man in front of him would be burned into his memory for a while.

I just finished Apollo Justice and it sure was my fifth-favourite of the five AA games I’ve played
By and large, though I tried to experience it free of my preconceptions, it fit with what I had heard; it’s serviceable, but the cast doesn’t live up to the original.
I really loved seeing Ema return, with a slower, more nuanced version of her Peppy Teenage Girl music. Klavier is... a lot, and tbh, I’m here for him. Trucy by and large is just Diet Maya, yes, but it is so funny to me that a bonafide mystic is replaced by a stage magician. I adore the hyperspecific trope of wizards vs magicians. Also, one of her animations is a cute blep
But Apollo himself... man. I was rooting for him, I really was. Just waiting for him to say or do something that would differentiate him from Phoenix. But no. The only line of dialogue he has that I can’t easily copy-paste into Phoenix’s voice is when his client - a non-native English speaker and a child - mispronounces his surname and Apollo has a bitchy sarcastic thought in response. And that’s... not exactly a victory. Sorry, kid, but you’re a step down.
Also, elephant in the room - what happens to Phoenix between games is fucked up and I really struggle with how neither Maya nor Edgeworth nor anyone fuckin’ else reaches out to him in that time. Not so much as a “dude! that sucks, man! bro!” from Larry. That’s a real kick in the teeth after a trilogy of a great cast growing closer. Again, not breaking new ground in saying that, but christ.
Gameplay-wise, I think it also had weaknesses in spots. There were multiple times where a character says “We should tell [person] at [place] right away!” so I rush right over to [place] to tell [person]. Like a chump, apparently, because they aren’t there. I don’t remember spending this much time in any of the other games rubbing every piece of evidence against every NPC in the hope of moving the plot along.
All that said, it delivered a perfectly fine Ace Attorney experience. The perception mechanic is a good addition to trials. Animation was noticeably crisper than the original trilogy, and character designs were solid. I particularly enjoyed the last courtroom scene, as the judge talks about how the law not only does change, it must change; poignant stuff.
Tumblr media
also this moment made me laugh very hard. good use of the form, yes

I'm requesting a lot of things realized. (Sorry about that) Apollo, Phoenix, and Nahyuta reacting to a S/o being a mermaid(or merman, because idc about genders) reader the reader reacting to the guys being mers.
Merperson!Reader, heLL YES!!!  Anyways, I’m going with H2O: Just Add Water rules for the hell of it (basically coming into contact with water after ten seconds = hello tail!).  Enjoy!  Phoenix and Nahyuta are below the cut.Feat. Merperson!Reader
You felt terrible about keeping such a big part of your identity a secret from him, for as long as you have.  But it wasn’t exactly like normal humans believed that merpeople actually exist and that isn’t really a topic to broach lightly in conversation.  ‘Oh yes, by the way, I’m actually a merperson!’  Of course, it’d be easy to prove by allowing yourself to come into contact with water…
…and you’d finally worked up enough courage to do just that.  You needed to do it now that things were getting serious between the two of you.  You’d invited him over under the pretense of having something important to tell him.  It’s vague and anxiety-inducing, you know, but… what else could you really tell them?
You don’t beat around the bush, as soon as you show him in and get situated on the couch, you dip one of your fingers into the glass of water to activate your ability.
“I, um, didn’t know how to tell you this earlier but—” you grimace as the transformation occurs, a brief flash of light as you revert back into your true form. “—I’m a merperson.”
Tumblr media
Apollo Justice.
Apollo simply stares at you.  Well, to be more exact, your tail.  It’s a blank stare until he begins his face journey, his bangs falling down into face as he goes through confusion, disbelief, doubt, consideration, and then acceptance.
“That’s fine.  This is fine.  Yup, that’s… fine!”
He brushes his hair back and takes a deep breath in and a deep breath out.  You think that maybe he’s going to take this better than you anticipated before he begins to tap his finger against his skull, seemingly thinking about all the implications of ‘merpeople being real’ entails.
With your dry, webbed hand, you reach out and place it on his knee.  “I…um, I know it’s a lot to take in, but I just… I really care about you and I wanted you to know before things got too serious between us.  In case you, um, don’t want to be with me anymore?”
You go to pull your hand away, but he’s quick to stop you by catching your wrist.
“N-No!  I—it, um… it doesn’t change anything, between us, I mean.  I just need some time to process this… it’s just… a lot to take in.”
Relief flows through you as the tension in your shoulder seems to evaporate, just thankful that he was okay with this new crazy development in his life.
“That’s fine.  And I’ll do my best to answer any and all questions you have to help.”  You slide your wrist out of his grip in order to hold his hand and give it a squeeze.  “It took me a bit to process the whole ‘perception’ ability of yours, too.”
“…I feel like this is a bit bigger than that, but that’s fair,” he says, but he smiles and you know that you’re truly going to be fine.
You dry your damp finger off and the transformation comes undone before you pull him into a tight hug and spend the rest of the evening doing your best to answer all of his questions.
Phoenix Wright.
Phoenix blinks rapidly, eyes darting between your face and your tail as he processes this news.  It would normally be hard not to chuckle at how cute he looks, with his eyes all wide and mouth agape with disbelief.  But you’re nervous and uncertain as to how he’s going to respond.
After a few moments of silence, he sits back upright and adjusts his waistcoat, looking back and put together, “Well, that certainly is… something.”
“It’s a tail with fins, to be exact.”
He snorts at your deadpan comment before rubbing.  “Yeah, it’s quite fishy.  But not the kind of fishy I was expecting from a ‘we need to talk,’ chat, especially since I knew you were keeping something about your identity locked up away from me.”
His easy acceptance surprises you and it’s your turn to gape at him.  How did he know you were keeping a part of your identity a secret from him?  But that wasn’t the foremost question on your mind, not at that moment, at least.
“Th-That’s it?  Really!?”
“Yeah, well, I trust you,” he says, with a smile that makes your heart melt.  “Plus, I’ve seen a lot of strange over the years, so this isn’t anything new, really.”
“That’s… cryptic.”
“I mean, you’re practically a cryptid, so I guess that makes us a pair.”
You playfully smack him on the shoulder, letting out a delighted little laugh that only makes his grin grow in response.  Before you can think of anything else to say, he closes the distance between the two of you and captures your lips with his.
You gladly reciprocate it as you drape your arms around the back of his neck before quickly wiping your finger dry on his blazer.  There’s another flash of light as you transform back, but neither of you break the kiss—glad for no more distractions.
Nahyuta Sahdmadhi.
Nahyuta’s long eyelashes flutter as he simply stares down at your elegant tail, one hand pulling his prayer beads taut as he thinks.  There have been only a few times you’ve ever seen Nahyuta at a loss for words and this is most certainly one of them.  His usual composure has cracked and each moment of silence is only making you grow more and more nervous.
“Yuta…?”
“It… would surely seem that you are, indeed.”  He releases his necklace, his typical composure swiftly returning.  “However, I did not see this foretold by the karmic threads.”
You shift slightly in your seat, uncertain of how to translate his neutral response.  “Yes, I imagine you probably wouldn’t, given the nature of it and all…”
He nods, humming lightly under his breath as his hands fall into their customary meditative positions.  It’s only a few moments that he ponders over something, but it feels like an eternity.
When he opens his eyes, you see a spark of curiosity light up his eyes as he reaches a hand out and gingerly touches your tail, like he’s uncertain as to whether or not it is real.  It is.  And as he runs his fingers along the subtle ridges of your scales he shifts to look at you with awe.
However, he still hasn’t said anything and you can’t help but feel unabashedly nervous still.  Awe does not mean that he’ll still want to be with you, that this isn’t some sort of dealbreaker for him upon further meditation.
“…Before we became close and were occasionally at odds, I did not mean to call you a ‘witless flounder‘ so literally.  You have my apologies,” he says, although there’s a hint of humor in his tone and the smile on his face.
He’s trying to set you at ease and it works, you can’t help but let out a laugh as you dry off your finger to undo your transformation in another burst of light.  “Apology accepted.”
However, the humor melts away from his eyes as he gently takes your hands in his.
“Truly, you must be blessed by the Holy Mother to have such a wonderful ability… and I am glad that you trust me enough to share this secret with me.  I understand all too well that such is not done lightly.”
You nod, feeling the threat of tears start singing your eyes before you pull your hands away from his grip in favor of throwing your arm around him in a tight hug—with enough force to almost knock him over on the sofa.
He slips his arms back around you and lets out an amused hum, just holding you as long as you need before he begins his flurry of questions.

introducing... prince housuke!
Tumblr media
The revolution ends early and Apollo returns to Khura'in, using the name ‘Housuke’ once again. He’s raised as royalty alongside Nahyuta and Rayfa, and holds the title of ‘Your Watchfulness’, due to his impressive perception and observation skills. He goes to work incognito in Japanifornia under Kristoph Gavin, who the royal family heard of, until a series of events leads him to work under Phoenix Wright. Housuke’s full name is quite the mouthful…
returned to khura'in with dhurke a few weeks after meeting clay (13 years old), promised to keep in touch with him via phone/video calls
received the power of the founder's orb a month before his 14th birthday in response to some citizens claiming he has no right to be a prince, unless married into the family (and even then ://)
can perform divination seances, dance of devotion routine slightly differs from rayfa's
can channel spirits (but not for long, as he never trained properly)
passed the bar and earned attorney badge at 17 years old
khura'inese accent, much easier to detect when upset
travelled to japanifornia at age 22 for a few reasons: to see clay, and to do a bit of soul searching (read: to search for his biological mother)
wears his normal suit in japanifornia, wears the suit seen above in khura'in
uses the name 'apollo justice' while in japanifornia
follows the plot from aa4-aa5
given a long ass name, though not long enough to rival inga: housuke apollo truith justice odoroki sahdmadhi khura'in (housuke vc i put the 'i' in 'truth')
referred to as prince housuke and your watchfulness (cause lbr, nobody is gonna use him full name)

head to toes
a wave of vigor
washes mind to fingers
a flush of emotions
as life to digits, to scribe it
beginning to end.
from ideas to those alike;
a fire captured
in words
that
shines to lead the lost
or not,
all before
crimson freedom
exhausts to embers,
ennui
& ash flakes
that blow in wind, as husked dreams
seeming done
but soon land on cheeks, cooled & damp
under eyes in tears, under a despair felt as if fallen
from thunder harkened skies, that call to question cause for existence;
a significance in actions that grows smaller the more you think about it
but together, less equals normal,
as summation is fundamental
love is adhesive, either ours
or
bartered feelings submerged in seas calm to quench
   where together forged are all;
    pen, mind, word;
sword & board tactics
with a cryptic, cold stance on trust
auto-response subconsciously deplored in hippocampus;
of a life so far & a mirrored-side, created in enthalpy of pain
to reflect, or emit light & shine as to say, “haha, aight now...i won’t not fight”
& continue to darken what’s behind, deny rage the time of day
no more means to place attention upon a strength
as easily extinguishable as any weakness, as easily interchangeable
edward elric - a transmute of ashes to feathers of phoenix’s
that ascend on winds from within to
     apollo heights.
   here goes. hold on tight
        focus.
          okay.
          right.
      -deep sigh-
         write.
‘cause as soon as it comes, may it leave
    in clicks and twists..
   ink deficits, existentialism
doubt, fear;
all a masquerade ball of
procrastination.
longest walks along barest walls of muse
a cloak of shame cast over pride & progress
prejudice in head that it’s all bullshit,
a law that all is worthless to time.
that don’ wait
a reign that won’ go away
and floods universe,
floods body like at start of verse
an awakening from nightmares
that no point in lifetime is worth anything ‘cause none are worth more than any other, or any other’s
           perception opposite of a constant, so all must be equal;
never just the Work of Art, but a part of the part of populace
that looks for meaning
in a world where love and promise from others
ain’t always obvious,
or even there
but are made to be the pied piper, at least in my life.
to seek newfound purpose behind the dreaming is now reason behind passion,
and furthering past prior goals, prior holes fell in, presume to be precipice of permanent failure..
    even when will appears absent
just the act of action
breaks you free
free from darkness, free from hurt
free from the world, free from him
free from her, free from being freed
from leaves, slaved to trees,
to the beauty in fallen freedom;
a dance to canzonetta sull'aria in walls of shawshank
melody of autumn breeze passing through horns of cornucopia
a created shell of gratitude, to covet peace
revert effect of gravity to dust,
as residue strewn in light spread
to spritely orbs that lifts soul..
some philosophy for you in metaphor form;
outside the box, right into ring
i take on abstract competition
& spiteful audience; my own thoughts;
hatred rooted deep,
tryna tunnel and suck from heart
deflate lungs, sink chest
debate what
is what
anymore
as proof
of existence
from
head
to
toes
we are made
to overcome
fin.

Greek God parent Quiz
Tagged by @runawaywilliams
Tagging: @neko-shadow @stayingtruetotaako @ahealingpolka whatever @electricthunderarts‘s rp blog is and literally anyone else who wants to do this
//This is gonna be hella long because I’m the wise guy with nine fucking muses so I’m shoving everything under a ‘read more.’
Allen is the son of…Apollo
Your godly parent is Apollo,  sun charioteer, god of music, arts, poetry, archery, prophecy, truth, medicine, plagues and order.
Wow. That sounded like a diner menu didn't it? Apollo is considered to be the most powerful god on the Olympian council after the Big Three and Hera and Demeter, mainly due to all his spheres of influence. As a child of Apollo, you may exhibit one or more talents associated with the sun god. Children of Apollo are extremely talented and many know it, which can vary from charismatic confidence to narcissistic arrogance. You are open-minded, easygoing, empathetic yet logical. You have a skill in music, art, drama or language and being the child of the god of prophecies, you are sometimes very intuitive about the future. Yet, you focus more on the journey rather than the destination. You're kind, helpful and show extreme protection towards 1-2 people in your life you can't live without. When you're angered, you tend to make reckless but powerful decisions, and can make a complete U-turn in personality. You have no patience for betrayal or bullying, and can become very righteous in exacting revenge, resulting in devastation that was more than you planned for in hindsight. Despite your playful and shallow exterior, you probably spend a lot of time being very observant and perceptive about the world around you, and you show that in your daily activities.
Qualities: Harmony, order, reason, creativity, restraint, curiosity, arrogance, narcissism, observant
Victor is the son of…Hera
Your godly patron is Hera, Queen of Olympus and goddess of marriage, home and family.
Hera being the goddess of marriage has never been unfaithful to Zeus, and thus does not have any demigod children. However, it is possible for those under her blessing to have her traits. Hera is very perfectionistic in nature and will do anything to keep her family safe and perfect. With her as your patron, you probably have strong maternal instincts where you're "mothering" your friends. You probably always have hand sanitizer and mints handy, and will always be there when someone wants to cry on your shoulder. And if they want revenge on their ex, you probably will volunteer to egg their car no questions asked! Hera thinks many steps ahead to protect her family, and will do anything to help them, although she might be very meddlesome in the process. You're extremely loyal and faithful, and believe that people deserve second chances. However, you can be a force to be reckoned with when your seemingly endless patience dries up.
Qualities: Overprotectiveness, loyalty, perfectionism, perception, patience, stability, kindness
Tori is the daughter of…Artemis
Your godly patron is Artemis, goddess of the moon, the hunt, wilderness, chastity, maidenhood, archery and childbirth.
Hunters are extremely close-knit and form strong bonds with those they hang out with daily. They will die for people who are just like them. You are probably very suspicious of outsiders, especially those who might harm your group. You are also mature, and often the voice of reason and calm to others. You have a natural talent for smoothing out discord, and you also give pretty sound advice. You also have a knack for getting out of trouble, the rare instances that you're in it that is. Artemis represents all that is wild and mysterious, and you might have distinct sides to your personality people are not usually privy to. Much like the Hunt/Moon duality of Artemis, Hunters of Artemis can be enthusiastic, athletic, and in-tune with nature; or they can be calm, soothing and mysterious. However, sometimes your perspective can be narrow, and when circumstances do not fit your unique view, you can brutally shut down the other person. When disrespected, you can become harsh and unforgiving.
Qualities: Maturity, protectiveness, camaraderie, reason, harmony, athletic, outgoing, wild, unforgiving
Phoenix is the son of…Poseidon
Your godly parent is Poseidon, Stormbringer, Earthshaker and Lord of the Oceans.
Children of Poseidon display similar qualities to those of Zeus, including pride and stubbornness but are more in control of their emotions, making them reasonable in nature. You place high value on those you care about and will go to extremes to help them out. Your greatest strength and weakness is your devotion to those closest to you. Children of Poseidon are generally calm and easy to get along with, which lulls people into a sense of comfort with them. However, being influenced by the never-still ocean, unpredictability should be your middle name, and when provoked, you can unleash rage that you might not even be able to control. Children of Poseidon, unlike those of Zeus, are driven not by law and duty, but by emotional attachments instead, not pausing to judge the consequences of their actions until it's too late. Some demigods might be influenced by the thrilling nature of the power they possess and can lose their heads in it, usually requiring a calming external force to snap them out of it. Without a control factor, children of Poseidon may begin to crave destruction rather than stay balanced.
Qualities: Pride, loyalty, devotion, reason, leadership, humor, unpredictability, rage
Sandra is the daughter of…Demeter
Your godly parent is Demeter, the goddess of harvest, agriculture, and seasonal change.
Children of Demeter are usually passive in nature and would prefer harmony to war. Like Hera, Demeter's children exhibit strong maternal instincts but the focus of this energy is quite different. You place strong emphasis on nurture, care and kindness, and you can usually be found vehemently fighting for environmental and animal rights such as animal testing and deforestation. You love all forms of nature, and you either have or wish you had your own garden. Children of Demeter are excellent hosts, and being the offspring of harvest, probably prefer organically grown food and homemade meals. While generally kind and giving, you can get extreme when angry, along the lines of drought and plague to crops. Mortally, that would translate to something like cutting off those who are toxic in your life, although this is an extreme option when advice doesn't pan out.
Qualities: Motherly instincts, hospitality, kindness, environmental, nurturing, passive-aggressive
Irene is the daughter of…Poseidon
Cheyro is the child of…Hephaestus
Your godly parent is Hephaestus, Blacksmith of the Gods, Lord of the fire, forge and volcanoes.
You are brilliant and ingenuous and are known for building your way out of trouble. Children of Hephaestus love science and technology a lot, and end up with hobbies and careers to evidence this. Not unlike Athena, children of Hephaestus can sometimes be so consumed with their ideas and projects that they can neglect their personal responsibilities. Most of the time however, this detachment from society provides concentration and focus to finish their projects faster, whence they would require a break and get back into the world. You might have a reputation from not building many social attachments, but instead sticking to a few people that understand your quirks. Despite your gruff and calculated exterior, you genuinely get along with many people and you would help people out in a heartbeat. You never forget those who have been kind to you, but you are also not quick to give up on grudges much like children of Hades. You are also underestimated by many of your peers, and only gain their respect after having to prove yourself. When disturbed or disrespected, you can use your skills to hurt people but this is very rare.
Qualities: Creativity, ingenuity, inventiveness, resilience, introversion, insecurity, concentration, kindness
Synnove is the daughter of…Apollo
Your godly parent is Apollo,  sun charioteer, god of music, arts, poetry, archery, prophecy, truth, medicine, plagues and order.
Wow. That sounded like a diner menu didn't it? Apollo is considered to be the most powerful god on the Olympian council after the Big Three and Hera and Demeter, mainly due to all his spheres of influence. As a child of Apollo, you may exhibit one or more talents associated with the sun god.
Regina is the child of…Hades
Your godly parent is Hades, The God of the Dead and Wealth, Lord of the Underworld.
Children of Hades usually are isolated and used to doing things alone. Your solitary existence makes you susceptible to being very wary about strangers, and while you appreciate and crave kindness, you might feel offended as you believe you don't need any special treatment. Children of Hades appear calm and quiet, but can be passionate with joy, love, or rage when situations arise. Because Hades oversees law and conduct, children of Hades tend to have a set definition of acceptable morals, and require a lot of help to change their perspectives. You are extremely protective of the small circle of people that you trust, and any insult against them is an insult to you, which you will not forget anytime soon. Despite being honorable, misunderstood, lawful, intelligent and hardworking, children of Hades can have a darker side too, warping these traits into cunning, ruthlessness and deviousness. More often than not, the good rules over the bad, and children of Hades operate in grey areas to ensure that they achieve their end result.
Qualities: Solitude, intelligence, diligence, protectiveness, honor, lawfulness, bitterness, cunning
//Some of these were a little surprising but I’m fairly satisfied with the results. Good job quiz.

Ace Attorney 6 : Spirit Of Justice
The Ace Attorney series has always had a strange relationship with it’s audience outside of it’s native homeland, Japan. With the series origins going back to 2001 on the GBA , it would not be until 2005 until the original Gyakuten Saiban would be released outside of Japan,  now under the name of Ace Attorney on the DS. Ports of the original GBA trilogy to the DS would favor functions the DS offered such as the touch screen and microphone input and a new soundtrack, the series would continue primarily on the DS with 3 new games emerging and would see various games in the series get ported to IOS, Windows (Japan exclusive), 3DS and Wii.
The series would continue to see releases outside of Japan although a number of games such as Ace Attorney Investigations 2 and The Great Ace Attorney would stay in Japan for reasons ranging from changing market environment and what some speculate could be a difficult localisation with the series already skating on thin ice with it’s current location setting it somewhere in California despite the series nods to it’s Japanese origins often on display, the titles that would make it outside of Japan however would only be available via the 3DS eShop, the only game to get a physical release being a cross over with Level 5 series, Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.
In 2016 Capcom would release the latest mainline entry, Spirit Of Justice, on 3DS to which I decided to pass up on buying straight away due not having enough free time to commit to this game but Capcom put a tiny deal on it and I’m thinking great, if I want more of these games to release outside of Japan I have to buy this so I cave in. Starting the actual game up we get what I feel is a standard now with the series, short anime cutscenes to help explain the story, the usual events of a crime taking place and slowly being introduced to the setting, the story starts off with series main man Phoenix Wright traveling aboard to the country of Khura'in, a country at civil war being ruled over by a dictatorship like monarchy which has enforced the Defense Culpability Act, legislation which allows lawyers representing clients found guilty in any crime will face the same sentence as there clients, including being put to death,  which has made being a defense attorney a frowned upon occupation.
As usual in this game you spend a good chunk of time in a court room having to defend your clients claims of innocence by presenting relevant evidence or pointing out inconsistencies in testimonies given by witnesses or the accused. Returning are old tricks our attorney team can use to find the truth including Apollo Justice’s bracelet which will point out people in distress to him and allow him to use his perception to pick on nervous traits your subject may show when reflecting upon there actions. Athena Cykes brings along her therapy sessions which questions people upon their emotional state during events and with her help you can help recover memories from patients suffering from traumatic events. New for this series is the fountain of truth, an event which will allow the court to see the victims last moments through their eyes in the hopes of finding clues to convict the real murderer. For the other half of this game you will play in the investigation mode which will allow you to explore various areas associated with the crime scene and question witnesses and investigators.
It did not take long for the usual charm of the series to kick in, punny names, stranger than fiction murder plots, colourful characters, although by about the third case into this game I felt that some of the experience was dragging along, being the 6th entry into this series it is but hard to imagine fans have already seen a majority of it is about and the game did feel a little like I had been there and seen a bunch of it before. It never helped that during my playthrough due to a mishap involving forgetting to save and leaving the battery on my 3DS to run out I had to repeat a large chunk of the trial again which turned me off so much that i took a short hiatus from this game, I would pick up the game again a month or 2 later after beating Breath Of The Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
I pushed through with case 3 again I was then greeted with perhaps one of the worst cases I have ever seen in an Ace Attorney game. This case felt like it was put in here just to give Athena some kind playtime, I feel this case has little to no bearing for the rest of the game and just kind of exists for no reason like a commercial break at the third act of a movie. You can imagine my frustration losing my steam for this game due to my save blunder although coming back at the shittest part of the game but then we got to case 5 and it completely turned me around. The concluding chapter of this game was that good I would say the rest of the cases seem like a long drawn out intro. This case puts you in the position of Apollo Justice as you enter into one of the most complex murder plots within the Ace Attorney series which involves spirit mediums, assassinations, black mail, smear campaigns, broken families, there is a while lot to take in, think a friend who played the playthrough commented the case lasts like 14 hours.
As this story is progressing I soon realise I am playing a case as good anything Trials & Tribultions ( AA3) as a whole offered, that story wrapped up many things which i felt were left loose and showcased how many of it’s cast had grown, questioning the motive of there characters and giving Phoenix his defining moment, that moment where you felt he had learned all he could from his mentors and had become the ace attorney he had wanted to become. As the game goes on and draws closer to it’s conclusion I realise that I may have played the “Apollo Trilogy” and while Dual Destiny’s may not have outright focused on Apollo I seem to recall moments in there which helped branched his character forward which makes his story all the more meaningful. The penny drops for me in how this game even follows a similar course to Trials & Tribultions in how the cases are presented to you and how we get told this story from at least two perspectives.
If the series goes on ( I have no difficulty in believing it will) I suspect it may begin to focus on Anthea but it leaves enough open stories to keep older fans interested in hopes of them being resolved but this is Capcom we are on about, they ain’t no problem leaving loose ends open like several of the MegaMan series stories.
My conclusion on this is that Spirit Of Justice stands at least level with Trials and Tribultions, which was already a favorite of mine in the series. This game crafts a wonderful story about character growth and facing up to our responsibilities for the greater good of society and with the political story that feels like it mirrors parts of todays political climate I can’t help but feel the story in this game registered more with me more than perhaps it was ever intended too. Ace Attorney despite coming close to being fifteen years old manages to hold up well with its new stores and bright and vibrant characters, I guess I will dive into the DLC at a later date and hope that I will be able to find an excuse to play through this game again, this game comes highly recommended by me.
