Five years ago today I was in Avebury, Wiltshire in the UK, my favorite place outside Pennsylvania, to stay for a few days. I wish I’d had this phone so the photos would be better.

Marvels, like most famous ancient ruins like the pyramids of giza is for Egypt, or the colossaio of Rome
The obvious is the Parthenon of course but do we have more underrated ones?
You see, I don't understand if marvels in this case stands for landmarks or wonders.
Because if we are talking about wonders, the current seven wonders of the world do not include either Greek or Egyptian monuments. No Parthenon, no pyramids! Of course, you could expect such lunacy from the nonsensical obsession with the number 7, as if civilization can fit in seven monuments. (The Giza Pyramid is sometimes referred to as "honorary mention" but that doesn't save it.)
However, when it comes to the 7 wonders of the ancient world, 5 are Greek-built (maybe that's why they gave us nothing in the modern one lol), two of them located in modern-day Greece, two in modern-day Turkey and one in Egypt. But these are of the ancient world - meaning they are all destroyed by now. For the record, these were the Statue of Zeus in Olympia, the Colossus of Rhodes, the Lighthouse of Alexandria in Egypt (not the Library) and in Turkey the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus and the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus. (BTW the non-Greek ones are indeed the Pyramids of Egypt and the hanging gardens of Babylon.)
Now if we simply talk about landmarks and great monuments, yes of course there isn't just Parthenon. Like all countries, there is one that is the symbol of the country and the others are less known but known to those who are interested in the place's history. I wouldn't say they are underrated, anybody who comes to Greece for the history knows or visits Delphi, Epidaurus, Mycenae, Olympia, Knossos , Vergina, Aegae or Delos. And many others, i.e the Temple of Poseidon in Cape Sounion, the Temple of Hephaestus in Athens, the Temple of Apollo Epicurius at Bassae, the Temple of Lindia Athena in Rhodes and then many others but these are the top famous I believe. Below is a post I had made with some information about the 10 most touristy ones.

Tidal Graves and the Eyes of Dunino Den: Scotland Reflections Part 2
After a few days in Edinburgh we were ready to move onwards. We picked up our rental car and headed North to Torryburn Beach. It took a while, but we eventually found what I was looking for: the grave of Lilias Adie. Lilias Adie, a woman in her sixties, was accused of consorting with the devil in the early 1700s. She was imprisoned under the crime of witchcraft, tortured and interrogated until…

5 years ago I visited this place with some people who live nearby and know way more about it than I do. I got inside the circle and took loads of pictures. The weather was grey but not raining like it was a few mornings later when I visited again.
