i think a major point of kill the villainess is the idea of a Main Character. no one is unjustified in their actions because in their view they are the main character and simply act like so. thats what makes it so fascinating, to have characters so rigidly in their roles like that. theres always a give and a take and theres always a consequence for an action. every person has been wronged and every person goes to lengths to seek justice.

the main exception of this is anahkin who lives under the pretext of a background character - although that role is destroyed by eris, the one whos fighting against the Design the most.

jason as well, with his main character story, is put into perspective as nothing but a cog in the machine, another side character to help along the story of others. the mad dragon, the love triangle with helena, his appearence to save eris from drowning. very interesting!

finally getting to reread kill the villainess with the official translations, instead of scraping by with awful mtl!! god do i hate anahkin as eris' love interest. most bland boring character imaginable. the saltine cracker of otome isekai men. i'd literally rather eris be single and girlboss her way to the top than deal with their "romance"

Eris: I only feel one emotion and it's anger.

Anahkin: Last night, you sent a lot of letters full of i love you's to my room.

Eris: Out of anger!!!

I just finished reading all the chapters to Kill the Villainess, and honestly:

I love Eris.

I don't like the original Eris because of how cruel she treated Helena, but even then, I felt sympathy for her when she wished she could disappear(honestly, same). However, the real star is current Eris because honestly I love her and how she acts. I don't necessarily agree with all her thoughts and actions, but I think it's fun to see how she acts and reacts to situations and how she adapts to this new world.

I have a weakness for medieval Europe type fantasy settings, especially for beautiful women in beautiful dresses. I think the only frustrating things I find are the male characters.

Alecto(Throughout the translations, first his name was Alec, then Alex, then Alecto, so I'm going with that last one) is so infuriating because at least Sovieshu did not have the gall to slap his wife. I don't sympathize for him at all, which I think was the intent of the author.

Jason. He's annoying, but less so than Alecto. He should mind his own business and stop threatening Eris. Like damn, she doesn't want to talk to you, so leave her alone. I sympathize a hell of a lot more to him due to his backstory, but damn, mind your damn business

High Priest Hybris(Correct me please if any of these names are incorrect). He has such a holier-than-thou attitude, and is willing to through his half sister into the dust, and honestly I don't like him. I thought I would because he seemed better than the previous two, but damn. What a snake. (His mother was pretty but I wish she was more than a copy and paste evil mother from Helena's.) My sympathy is there, but I don't like how he treated Eris when he figured out she was working with Medea

Anakin. I liked him a lot more than any of the previous male characters. I think he and Eris are a good match.

The Emperor and The Marquis are interesting because they are terrible people, but honestly, I expect it due to how their children came out to be(and the fact they are rich doesn't help either of their personalities)

As for Helena, she's ehhhh. I don't really care for her, she's like a stereotypical shoujo pushover female lead. I don't see much in her, but I don't hate her. I see why Eris dislikes her, but I feel like Helena is just trying to live her life, as passive as she is to the people around her(things could be revealed that she's actually a snake, but for now, I don't hate her)

Me sinto a um passo de tudo escapar das minhas mãos.  As coisas tem sido diferente do que eu esperava. No final do dia é comum as lágrimas escorrem . Sinto-me pressa dentro de mim.

like, they’re a pretty insular community, theres just GOT to be a series of increasingly ridiculous in jokes that spread like wildfire through the temple, not to mention how Anakin and Obi Wan’s antics would obviously be prime temple meme generating content:

Anakin, at age 15, caught illegally podracing: “the force made me to do it”

next thing you know every padawan in the temple is trying it as an excuse for when they’re caught doing something they shouldn’t (Ahsoka uses it once on Anakin after she crashes her speeder racing with the troopers and Obi Wan laughs so hard he has to sit down)

or “on a scale of one to Master Windu’s eyebrow twitch how much trouble are you in”

“ANAHkin” (done in a ridiculously over the top version of master kenobi’s accent) becomes common response to anyone caught pulling a particularly dramatic stunt
