Round 4, Day 4 - ALL TEAMS (Event)

The Gunner sat on the shoulder of the massive mechanized entity, grinning.

"Ah… let's get comfortable. Participating Masters, are you here? Let's do a check in with the Servants-- shall we?"

The Ruler stood strong, summoning her banner as she blocked incoming fire and pushed back the advancing militia.

"They're on par with Servants! These aren't normal enemies!"

The Foreigner floated high in the air, bullets whizzing past him as he tumbled in the sky, panicked.

"There's a lot…! Too many… too many…!"

The MoonCancer sat perfectly still, watching as the armed warriors passed by.

"…Just ignore the statue… just ignore the statue…"

The Alter-Ego stabbed into the approaching onslaught, gritting her teeth as she found herself slightly overwhelmed.

"Damn it, I'll drain you all and turn you into EXP! You're fodder to me!"

The Pretender looked down, smiling ruefully as he shook his head.

"Uh-oh. Looks like we're fighting against a pretty focused fighting force. What to do…"

The Avenger burst forth, shrouded in flames as he began to rip through the enemies, even him finding their numbers overwhelming.

"Kuhahaha! Where is the summoned hero! Where is Gunner!?"

"Looks like they're trying to put up a fight. But I apologize, I haven't introduced myself. My True Name is Takasugi Shinsaku. However, as this is a war of Extra-Classes… the most interesting of the Servant Classes…"

"…Just call me the exemplary Gunner! I heard that you knocked out Faker, therefore in this bout, I shall be your seventh! So-- Let's make this fun! If you all work together, then everybody will have the best chance of victory. Still… glory is pretty tempting. So if you want to go for the head, as in myself, and leave everyone else to handle the dirty work… well, it might harm the others, but you'll feel like a winner! Oh- but if you're going to sell out your friends or enemies, make it interesting!"

"So, what's it gonna be? You gonna try to work together, or is greed gonna take over? This is still a competition with a winner, after all. Why mess up the chance? Let's see what happens."

Rules:

Try your best to balance the polls (there's a grace zone of 2% in either direction)! If you do so, everyone will be granted a boon! If you can't, then everyone will be hit by a punishment!

However… If you want to win on your own, it has to be definitive, as in: by greater than 7% of your closest competitor, and then only your team will get a major boon and the rest will be punished! But if you try to win but can't hit that metric, only you'll get smacked with a punishment!

Will you work together, or will you try to go for the glory on your own?

LISTEN I JUST NEED TO HAVE IT OUT THERE! KEEPING A JALTER AND A JEANNE IN THE SAME HOUSE IS JUST WRONG! THEY'RE NATURAL ENEMIES! EVEN IF THEY USED TO BE RELATED THEY AREN'T COMPATABLE BREEDS!!

Thank you for your strong opinions, anon! In my experience, yes, keeping a Jeanne and a Jeanne Alter together can be very difficult. Especially when Jeanne Alters first emerged as a breed, their firey tendencies towards standard Jeannes caused extreme issues.

If you are trying to adopt a 100% purebred Jalter, as in, maintaining their original, somewhat feral behavior, I agree, I would not house them with a Jeanne.

However, if you are adopting a Jalter that has been domesticated in the years since, you should be fine - they often are simply more annoyed by Jeannes, and can get along, conflicts being comparable to playfighting of cats. The same goes for Summer Jalters in particular, many owners find that if you provide both Jeannes art supplies they may not even engage in physical altercations at all.

actually i’m confused whether beast class(playable) deals double damage to all regular classes and 1/2 to extra ones like a berserker situation. Or if it’s like a ruler situation.

if you were put in-charge of a FATE reboot, what classes would you add/change/remove?

for me; Keep: Rider, Avenger, Shielder, Archer, Ruler, Caster, Assassin, Berserker, and Pretender Change: Foreigner's name to something like Outlander or Stranger (similar, but less icky meanings) Add: Tactician (heroes known for their strategical minds on the battlefield. examples being: Jeanne d'Arc, Julius Caesar, Jason of the Argonauts, etc), Brawler (heroes known for glorious melee combat. examples being: Mordred, Cu Chulainn, etc.) remove: lancer, saber, Alter Ego, and Moon Cancer

Round 3, Day 2 - ALL TEAMS (Extra Summon - Tempest)

The lone Faker stood in the midst of the storm, awaiting whoever was to challenge her.

A figure, spiraling down from the heavens and striking at the Faker. The Alter-Ego, beautiful and proud, engaged in swift close combat as her bladed legs danced against the sparking metal of the Faker's sword. They seemed to be evenly matched, as the Alter-Ego laughed.

"I don't get what all the fuss is about--! I could handle you by myself, you know?"

"Alter-Ego… I like that warrior's confidence, but it won't be enough!"

The Faker's eyes flashed, the Alter-Ego's movements slowing in a critical moment as she was struck off the chariot, only recovering fast enough to safely land on the ground to regroup. The chariot wheeled downwards, charging at the Alter-Ego before a gust of wind threw it off course, the Faker's attention turning to another Servant. The MoonCancer, hovering in the air with massive flapping elephant ears, venting to nobody in particular.

"Gh… why couldn't I have 'support-type' build? Then I could just hang back and throw out buffs while everyone else got in close with the fighting. Ahh-- whatever! If I'm a tank, then I'm a tank! Let's draw some aggro!"

With the Faker's attention drawn elsewhere, two more Servants rushed into the fray.

"The sound of lightning…!"

"Come, o' Blade of Flames!"

Two attacks, simultaneously struck at the Faker. One, a glittering roseate fencing blade thrust forward. Second, a dark saber of cursed flames slashed downward. Both attacks forced the rider of the skeletal chariot to reel, as she retaliated with her own sword, knocking them both away with a thunderous strike as they both spiraled in the air, struggling to catch themselves.

"Uwaah--! That sword… is fast…!" "Hahaha! She's a bit tougher than a standard Heroic Spirit! Good! Very good!"

On the ground, two Servants watched. One of them, a Pretender in a white cloak, held out his hands as magic sparkled outward, providing energy to the direct combatants as they fought against the Faker. The second, a Ruler wearing a heavy blue cloak against the storm, was waving her banner proudly, light shining from her body.

"You must be the Ruler, looking at how proudly you're waving that flag. I didn't take a Ruler for one to want a reward."

"I don't care for the reward, just for solving this Grail War. This battle... we'll have to work together, but by some metric one of us will be determined as 'the best'."

"An 'MVP', perhaps?" The Pretender chuckled. "So, nobody can afford to sandbag either. Everybody wants to be a winner, right? Even someone like you can't afford to lose."

She slammed down her banner, the harsh rainfall temporarily broken by golden light that pierced through like an arrow, covering all the participating Servants against the Faker-Class.

"You're right, I don't want to lose either...so, let's give it our all! Come, Faker! Let the battle begin!"

"Hahaha! Now this is what I love to see! In this bout, I shall serve as your seventh! So come, show me that warrior spirit! The greatest of you will face glory, and the cowardly will face punishment! Warriors of the Extra-Class, Mages of the modern era, distant as you may ever be-- show me your resolve, and Faker will return it in kind!"

Due to the presence of all participating Servants everyone is put on fair ground! No boosts or demerits apply, the results are what they are!

The Servant who does the most against Faker (as in, gets 1st Place) wins!

SCORING:

1st Place will receive a boost of their choosing from an assortment for their next round!

2nd Place will not receive any rewards, but evade punishment!

3rd through 5th Place will gain a -2% demerit during their next round! These demerits bypass any resistances!

Last place will gain a wound that bypasses any damage evasion passives!

also whoever decided to make a berserker boss who has ruler resistance while still dealing berserker damage who also removes all her debuffs every turn, who ALSO will remove all YOUR buffs the moment she hits you alongside the standard constant usuals of her own skills and increased np charge can go right to hell

Ya know, there’s a lot of things you could complain about with LB4, but the fact no one ever took issue with one of the all important Lostbelt Kings being an Alter is definitely SOME sort of indication of good writing.

#especially since unlike NotSkadi they dont pull any shit to justify it #they're just like 'yeah the big bad of this entire parallel universe is going to be a character you already know. It'll work my guy.'#and work it did because I literally only just realized 'oh they made a SUPER important role someone who literally has Alter in their name'#fgo #arjuna alter #and no i cant even say it was Skadi lowering the bar because I consider her so far removed from Scathach that i just see #a brand new - absolutely abysmal - character. And they treat scathach as an afterthought #Arjuna directly ties into Alterjuna's entire identity and it still feels deserving of being a parallel universe ruler

i am posting here, now, for posterity, that i am 100% sure that if he becomes a servant and holds onto his shield, galahad’s noble phantasm will have the same counter mechanic as bazett’s

he should also have some variation of oberon’s passive, granting him immunity to various debuffs (probably charm and related [obviously], curse and related, and poison [which mash doesn’t have for some reason?])

meditating on his append skill, which will either be taking potshots at lancelot OR anti-extra class, like mash, but i’m happy to be wrong on either of those.

If you ever find yourself thinking "oh, I can't write this Cool But Impractical thing into my story, it's just not realistic", here are a few perfectly realistic reasons why people and even whole cultures would rather do something in an impractical way rather than the sensible one:

weird flex

religious reasons

religious weird flex (someone decided that they are So Religious that they consider the practical method Sinful, and people got competitive about it)

tax reasons (some ruler put a tax on doing something the sensible way and people started doing the impractical alternative as a legal loophole)

someone wildly powerful and popular preferred doing it that way, and everyone adapted to it in order to look cool

someone wildly unpopular suggested doing the practical thing, and everyone went out of their way to avoid doing that in order to not look uncool

it just genuinely never occurred to them that there is a better alternative, and their current method has been honed to perfection/adapted to the infrastructure so deeply that at this point altering it wouldn't be sensible
