im gonma make bride of discord relevant againt i sweer
anybody else remember bride of discord (and daughter of discord) by that disneyfanaticbunchofnumbers on youtube? yeah i freaking loved it as a kid. still do now honestly, it was honestly one of the cornerstones of my childhood and it's my favorite thing to listen to while i work. i call it my soap opera.
that being said 90% of the morals are AWFUL holy shit. i still appreciate it because it's heartwarming as a passion project and comparably more mature piece of fanwork considering the my little pony fandom at the time; but the toxicity between discord and fluttershy? the homophobic undertones in the sequel?? the treatment of rarity as a character??? THE APPLESPIKE??????
that shit has GOT to GO. so im writing a fix-it-fic for my own self indulgence lmao. i'll be posting my progress and some tidbits here, but i'm not even halfway done with transcripting the episodes and planning out my changes, so it'll be a long while before the final drafts are ready to post. when they are, they'll be posted on archive of our own, but until then, everyone and anyone is more than welcome to offer changes that they would like made, or factors of the story they'd like to be kept. theres no guarantees that they'll be included, but it's still so fun talking about this thing with other people, and it's always good to engage with others in this phase of the process. below is a list of major to minor notes i've already got in mind.
I want to keep the serious tone of the story. By far I think the thing that kept me attached to this series for so long is how the mood differs from so much of the fandom back then. the stakes in the beginning were legitimately high, the conflict took itself seriously, and the production quality was through the roof. this is the audiodrama's hallmark, it's iconic and must be kept in mind when contemplating changes.
Many smaller changes must be made to the Fluttercord plot in order to make it healthier and more natural: the infantilization of fluttershy, discord's overbearingness and harrassment, literally nearly all of episode 9. red flags. i think the biggest issue is that the character arcs are based more on shipping and tropes than the actual characters. there's nothing wrong with this in moderation, but in this case, the relationship is unbearably toxic. the arcs in the rewrite will be a lot more character-focused.
Instead of applejack and spike being the secondary romance, i'm going to make it applejack and rarity. yes i do ship rarijack, but this decision was primarily made in order to get two birds with one stone with applejack and rarity's depictions in the series and its sequel. free my girl rarity and leave my boy spike alone :(
Take pinkie pie more seriously as a character. this isn't just a problem with BOD but also the actual show FIM. she just gets annoying sometimes and her lack of depth really irked me in BOD.
GET RAINBOW DASH AWAYYYY FROM SOREN GET THAT OUT OF HERE
i feel like fluttershy's "tragic" backstory explaining her hesitance as being adored is kinda underwhelming. so is her insecurity, her insecurity not expanding beyond the "doesn't know she's beautiful" trope just rubs me the wrong way, she deserves more depth than that.
discord. discord. the relationship is so one-sided to discord that i think i can only name 2 things he legitimately done for fluttershy's happiness (both of which he lowkey ruined not a day later. most of their "bonding" scenes are just him trying to distract her from her tragic reality and her desires by doing stuff he wants to do, which btw is a manipulation tactic so GET THAT OUT OF HERE)
theres quite a few weird undertones and stereotypes. the pedo and "nice girl" stuff with applespike is the most obvious one, but theres also some lowkey misogynistic quips thrown in there and, although this might not have been an issue at the time, zecora does fit the "wise black woman" trope that's been pointed out many times in recent media, so i do need to adjust how she's portrayed.
another problem that FIM also commits, but rainbow dash just feels so mischaracterized as an element of loyalty at some points. i want to make her loyalty more prominent, to the point of putting her career on the line because she couldn't abandon fluttershy or her friends when they were breaking down. that would be real sweet.
i dont know if im also going to rewrite daughter of discord, i might consider it after im finished with this one, though. also i promise i write way better than i do here when i try lol

Hello it’s me, what would mason do with a trans pet anon and I am backkkkk for more. I don’t know why but the combination of fair but strict and very competent at his job(for better or worse) is making me absolutely melt for mason. Anyways back to questions. Would mason ever recommend killing a pet if they were too traumatized by a bad owner to function? Also besides obedience and loyalty, is there anything in particular he values about pets? Also what if there was an owner that gave his pet deliberately confusing orders just so he could punish them?
Masons already made it clear he wants pets to have clear orders but he’s also made it clear that pets job is to please their owner. What if a pet was depressed and didn’t obey? How would he respond to that? Also have you ever thought about role play? No pressure, but I think interacting with mason would be fun.

"Pets are fantastic companions and have such entertaining personalities and behaviors. Personality is the thing that makes each pet so special and unique - no two are alike. I know there are some trainers out there that require such strict exceptions of behavior there is no room for the pet's own personality and that is borderline abuse. They might be a lower life form but they are still a living being.
"Take Clyde for example. There are times during hikes or just out in public where he lags behind because he's staring at the ground or a tree or something random. He's a good boy though so he never gets lost - but he's not right at my heels like another trainer would demand. And you know what? Every time I go see what he's staring at it reminds me to appreciate the world a little more. Seeing plants or birds or patterns through his eyes is fun and engaging. I mean I can't live my life like that all the time because I'm a human being with responsibilities, but moments of thinking more simply like they do are refreshing."
What if there was an owner that gave his pet deliberately confusing orders just so he could punish them?
"That is abusive," he sighs. "Not technically illegal and not reportable but abusive as hell. Sickening. Some might say "oh at least they're not taking out their issues on other people" but still. Just deal with your own shit instead of tormenting your pet, ya know?"
What if a pet was depressed and didn’t obey? How would he respond to that?
After he established that the disobedience was from depression, his first step would be seeing if there are environmental factors to the depression. Is the pet getting proper sleep, nutrition, exercise? If so then he would recommend "supplements." (He has an affiliate code for the company he recommends lol). They're not technically medication because they don't have to be approved for human use by a testing organization, but they're "based on" research from human medications [aka drugs lol]. Typically he recommends some that are for anxiety, but I'm sure there are plenty out there for depression too. Likely the pet would end up in a bit of a perpetual state of disassociation 😬.

In general, no. If a pet is so traumatized by an owner they can't function and require a high level of care, Mason would advocate for legal action against that owner. Either jail time or having to pay for the pet's full time care. Killing or incapacitate pets is not socially or legally acceptable. nor is euthanasian really. Perhaps if the pet killed someone, but even then Mason would argue there is something else going on in that situation. Again, not because he's a good person, but because he infantilizes pets so much he doesn't believe they are capable of a lot of things and therefore not responsible for their actions.

Have you listened to Ariana’s new album and Hozier’s new EP? I loved ‘We can’t be friends’, ‘don’t wanna break up again’, ‘boy is mine’, and ‘I wish I hated you’ from Ari’s album specifically, although every song in that album was so good. ‘Too Sweet’ and ‘Fare Well’ were my favorite from Hozier’s album, the guitar in both is just so good.
My recommendation for this time (if you haven’t heard it already) is Luna Day’s ‘Obsessed’ and ‘Say it Back’. Unrequited love songs will always have a special place in my heart.

I will now infodump completely random self indulgent thoughts about Halloween and Friday the 13th that i otherwise would have no other opportunity to voice, because I want these thoughts out of my head and into words.

So, Halloween:
I rewatched this for the third time on the 13th because I am a dirty, filthy cheater. The goal was to get extremely high and watch one of the Friday the 13ths (F13 for short) but at around midnight my heart had a very specific craving that only Michael Myers could satisfy.
As I watched it, I recalled how I felt the first time I watched the film a year ago. I had a lot of thoughts then that still hold up to how I feel now, now that its my special interest.
First of all, in 2021 I attempted to get into the slasher genre but I was too weenie to venture very far. I watched the first Halloween and thats it.
And, when I watched it, I distinctively felt unimpressed with the first two acts. It wasn't not entertaining, but I remember being like "I dunno, this is fun and all but it isn't that scary?"
Even some of the first kills, like Judith barely being aimed at, with people's eyes going cross-eyed- it's kind of goofy.
but then
Very subtly, about an hour into the movie, by the start of the final act... something shifts.
When Laurie gets off the phone and walks over to the Wallace house and finds the bodies, from that point to the end I was completely enraptured. The tension mounts and mounts and mounts, and by the time the credits roll I only just realize how hard my heart is racing.
In fanfiction terms, i let out a breath I didnt know I was holding. (except, like, actually tho)
and I had the exact same experience when I watched the movie again a few days ago, foolishly thinking Im long past being afraid of silly ole Mikey.
that must be, I feel, why the first Halloween is so spectacularly iconic.
I also remember my jaw dropping at the unmasking moment. It was when you realize- he's not really old, he's not physically deformed or anything like that- hes just a guy. He's practically just a kid himself. (When Loomis says hes 21 in the sequel I even yelled out "HES ONLY 21?!?" even though you can do the math yourself while watching the first movie lmao. in my defense, I watched that a year later, so I forgot how young he was)
He almost looks afraid once the mask comes off. He's exposed, in every sense.
that scene really blew my mind.
but, Ive mentioned this before, these films didnt hit Special Interest status until I watched the second one for the first time this past october. I think it was the upped action in the sequel that pushed it over the edge into adoration territory for me.
I really love each timeline the films go through (well, for the most part) for different reasons. They all scratch different itches. And they give my imagination so much to work with. Fanfictions too, its really interesting seeing which interpretations of the characters people decide to expand upon.
My favorite is the new Green trilogy (yes, even with some issues I have with Kills. and I unabashedly love Ends) and the Jamie Lloyd trilogy is in 2nd place.
Then, also this year, I had a proposition for my friends. Two friends. We call ourselves Movie Club. Every other sunday or so, we watch something over Discord. Our choices of movies are always incredibly random.
This past October, I was like, "hey, how about we watch some horror movies? I have a whole list I am trying to get through"
and on that list was Friday the 13th. I didn't know anything about it. I barely remembered Jason was the slasher of the franchise until my friends refreshed my memory. 1 friend had already seen it and said that it would be perfect for Movie Club.
And so, we watched it.
First of all, it was everything I wanted it to be when it comes to campy horror. With the screaming teens fumbling over themselves and all.
Second of all, I was SHOCKED. so was my friend who also went in blind.
I don't even want to mention why.
I am not going to.
If all you know is Jason slashing away at teenagers in the woods, then you know just as much as I did, and you should absolutely give it a watch. You know less than you assume.
In fact, I'd go so far as to say that the very first Friday the 13th movie has much more exciting surprises now than it did when it was released.
We, as a Movie Club, said "oh my god. Well, now we have to watch the second one." (by that point, we were all going in blind)
So we did.
it STILL SHOCKED US.
We said "well fuck, we have to watch the third one now"
So we did.
And by then, we were in too deep, we simply had to know how exactly the franchise transitions from that to future titles like "Jason Takes Manhattan." We had to know how he goes to space, and we had to know how he fights Freddy. We were in it for the long haul.
So we watched them all together, and Jason cemented his place in my heart. One day this special interest will pass, but those memories with my friends will be forever.
And now with the new series being made by Bryan Fuller? I dont think we were even halfway through the series before my friend dropped that news, and I was immediately like "oh FUCK yes."
I never drew tons of fanart or anything, but I AM a reasonably large Hannibal fan. and I know how beloved Bryan Fuller is, I love the dude too. I love that he stands up for fangirldom. It's a breath of fresh air.
Ive been following any press he's been releasing for Crystal Lake and I am so fucking immensely excited for it, I have already ranted incessantly about it to two unsuspecting friends of mine. From those interviews, he and I seem to be on the exact same page when it comes to what we find important about the F13 series.
Yes, it's really goofy, but there's also a certain heart and tragedy to it, and he seems dedicated to making sure that shines in his series.
I'm so excited about this series that Jason doesnt even have to be in it and I'd probably still love it. (Except he will be in it lmao im just saying)
And now, I am still watching new slasher films. I am almost done watching all the Nightmare on Elm Streets. They're fun, but they dont do it for me quite like Halloween and F13 have. (I'm still glad I'm watching them tho. I must say, Wes Craven's New Nightmare was incredible)
Next up i'll probably watch some one-offs before diving into the Texas Chainsaw Massacre films. I have a feeling I will love Bubba once I meet him. I hope so! I want to love more slashers like I love Michael and Jason.
We will see tho.

you know how most weeks, there's a double rank points booster for one of the playlists? this is only communicated to you in the "next week in destiny" pop ups, and if you miss them, reset happens, and you have no idea what's boosted until you click on the playlist and look for the little icon that says so
also, hey bungie, regarding airborne effectiveness, please don't say things like "just build into it lmao" without letting us see the airborne effectiveness stat anywhere in the game! i literally wouldn't know what airborne effectiveness was without reading TWABs, patch notes, and looking at the hidden stats in DIM
meanwhile, in game, the icarus grip mod "moderately increases airborne effectiveness". WHAT DOES THAT MEAN???

Heyyy it’s ur Monbebe Secret Santa 🎅🏼 Yes, it’s been a nice busy!! Mostly been hanging out with friends, but now all my social events are done and I will be in hibernation mode until the New Year 😌
Fatal Love was my first ever kpop album because it was also the first comeback I was around for! It was also on sale hahaha so I thought ‘why not.’ I agree, it’s a solid album and it’s just so sexy that they did that. I have some such a random assortment of albums, tbh! 8 of them are GOT7 related (a mix group/sub unit and solo stuff, they’re my favourite group), 2 twice albums (1 group and 1 solo), 2 seventeen albums (I love them so much too, one of the first groups I got into!!) and 3 B.I (Kim Hanbin) albums because I love his entire discography! I think this is where my collection will stop growing lmao I’m running out of space 😂
I am soooooo excited as well, I’ll also be losing my mind regardless! I hope the title track punches me in the face 🫡

OKAY it’s almost 1am and i’ve been yelling at kite on discord for long enough, time to commit my thoughts on 13′s final episode to my tumblog. spoilers under the readmore, obvs
okay so first things first let’s get this out of the way: i genuinely LOVED it. like is it in my “these episodes really Hit Different” tier or my “shiny gold star” tier, no, but it is SOLIDLY in my “loved it” tier. i just. it was so much FUN! it was so JOYFUL! i’m so happy that 13 got to go out on this kind of note and i’m so glad that her regen episode was just. a FUN ride.
like tbh nothing about this episode went as i expected it to go but i am actually okay with that! i could definitely think of a few ways that this final special could have been linked in more with like, the wider overarching themes or narrative threads of the era, but the more i think about it the more i am okay with the fact that while a handful of the themes were carried through, there wasn’t really a huge link back to like, say, the Timeless Child storyline. and really, there shouldn’t need to be! for me, i guess the main narrative thread of this era was wrapped up with Flux and with 13 coming to terms with what she’d learned about her past and what she still didn’t know, and choosing not to open the fobwatch and instead keep it safe and hidden because she came to the realisation that what Ryan said to her in s12 was right the whole time - whoever she was before, she HAS an identity right now and obsessing over the past rather than living in the present was destroying her and her loved ones. so like, for me the specials function mostly as an emotional coda for 13 and Yaz, and i was surprised to find i didn’t NEED any big links back. tbh i think the main thematic link Chibs was trying to make with this episode was his first-episode thesis statement of “honour who you’ve been and choose who you want to be next” and the themes of hope and connection so like, those were very much present
that being said, Chibs ABSOLUTELY managed to pull a great fake-out on me with that episode opener. like. the entire set-up with the child in the pod on the train and THEN the reveal that it was an eldritch glowy energy creature that instinctively takes a form that makes people want to protect it (A CHILD????) had me sitting there for the first 30-45 minutes of the special FULLY expecting this to take a turn where that turned into some sort of reveal of the Doctor’s original species or something. like i was there FULLY ready for glowy eldritch trueform Dr. in hindsight i’m glad that this is not where this went bc i think that would have done a disservice to some of the things the Timeless Child storyline was trying to accomplish, but i was FULLY ready to be on board and clowning with it. (i may still clown with it, purely bc its such an interesting concept to me as something to explore in fanworks, LMAO)
still so funny to me that Dan noped out in the first 15 minutes of the episode. man had THEE closest near-death experience and was sensibly like “nope i am not pushing my luck i am Outtie!!” honestly? ICONIC, love this for him. love that he still cites his TARDIS experience as something that has given him the strength to live his life on Earth as well. that said, STILL funny that he missed almost the entire adventure, absolute KING move. we stan
i hecking loved ALL the past Doctor cameos we got, holy shit! i wasn’t expecting any of them at all but the circumstances in which they showed up were ABSOLUTELY my jam??? the idea of vestiges of the Dr’s old personalities kicking about inside their thinkpan?? EXQUISITE. Eight refusing to manifest in robes bc he doesn’t do robes, the man the myth the LEGEND. i loved One being like “oh dang i guess this version of us is VERY strong-willed, just won’t die hm” like YES SHE IS!! YES SHE IS!! i also loved that Five and Seven got to have moments of closure with their old companions via 13′s adaptive AI hologram, those moments were so genuinely sweet and touching and i adored them. honestly i just. im so pleased for the 80s doctors and Eight, also. like, remember when it was the 50th anniversary and the only real look-in they got was a short clip of 8 regenerating into the War Dr and the Five-ish Doctors Reboot, which was a labour of love and comedy film mostly written by the three 80s doctors making light of the fact that they weren't going to be in the 50th?? and then it comes to this special and chibs is like. i am gonna write ALL of you into it. like, Six didn't need to be there!!! unlike Five and Seven, his companions did not feature (with the exception of Mel’s brief cameo in the Companion Support Group at the end)!! but he's there helping to bolster his future self and help her hold on to their existence anyway
i ammmm MANY thoughts head full about the conclusion of the spydoc storyline, like, the more i think about it the more absolutely JUICY things there are to find in here. like. lord. right until the end they were just perfect on the nose foils for each other. the Master becoming so unhappy and so sick and incapable of being himself and presumably still so bitter and depressed about being in the Doctor’s shadow and (he assumes) not having ever been her equal that he hatches a plot to steal the Doctor’s body and identity and completely erase her??? to become her in literally every way and then wreck her reputation??? VS Thirteen who has come to terms with what she does and doesn’t know about herself, and has come to the conclusion that actually she has LOVED being herself!!! the Master being so unable to let either one of them live that even while dying as a result of his own actions backfiring on him once again, crawls after Thirteen JUST to ensure that if he can’t be the Doctor, neither can she. VS Thirteen who wanted more time but gracefully accepts that she has to pass the torch of being the Doctor onto the next them and faces her death with a smile. i just. THEM. THEY. the Master being SO bitter vs the Doctor having seemingly let go of most of her bitterness towards him! (”WHAT a mind!” she says of his plan to LITERALLY STEAL HER BODY AND ERASE HER FROM EXISTENCE! “we used to be friends, once” she says sadly after these aforementioned plans have fallen apart.) i just. GOD. if you two had actually taken a moment to have an ACTUAL PROPER CONVERSATION at ANY POINT during these incarnations of yours y’all could probably have genuinely actually gotten along, but nooooooooooooooooooooooo
anyway this episode also fed me EXCEEDINGLY with regards to my ongoing doctor who theory of mirrors. like. LORD. the Yaz-Dhawan!Master-13 hall of mirrors in this episode was EXQUISITE. can’t believe that in the episode where we had the Master trying to literally, physically take the Doctor’s place in the universe and failing, we had Yaz spiritually embodying what it is to be the Doctor RIGHT at the moment when it seemed like the Doctor was gone forever. like. Yaz was so magnificent during this episode and i’m so PLEASED about this conclusion to her Doctorification plotline. she piloted the TARDIS on her OWN!! using the notes she made HERSELF during those 10 long months separated from 13 trying to get that other TARDIS to move!!! she made a plan with Vinder and saved Ace from crashing into the ground and moved people to where they needed to be and she SAVED the Doctor just by being herself. no destiny, no weird timey wimey bullshit, no special powers. just Yasmin Khan and her faith in herself and her faith in and love for the Doctor. the Master was really there trying to break Yaz’s faith in 13 and she was no-selling him every time. QUEEN.
also she got to bridal-carry an unconscious, injured 13 into the TARDIS and like honestly? stunning, beautiful, powerful, showstopping, incredible
very important point for me: 13 is 4 for 4 with getting companions back home, safe, ready to live the rest of their lives, being wiser and better people for their experiences travelling with her. like sorry but she is WINNING
also like. im still so emotional about 13′s ending. it was just so POSITIVE. the gratitude for having met and loved the people she did and experienced what she did with them?? “my hearts are full of love for you all”. also god. she LOVED being herself!!! the Doctor had an incarnation that LOVED being themself despite what she went through during all that!! i love this so much for her. i love that she got one last quiet moment with Yaz and got to see Yaz safe at home. i love that she got to tell her TARDIS to look after the next one. i love that she CHOSE the way she would meet her own end and she wanted to do it while seeing one last sunrise as herself. i just. she was at peace with herself and with the idea of leaving even if she WANTED more time as herself and tbh this is all i wanted for her from this episode. tbh i’m even only slightly Annoyed at having had to watch her turn into DT again instead of Ncuti and i FULLY expected to be frothingly angry and bitter about it, but the rest of the episode and the lead-up to the regen itself was just so JOYFUL that i am much less mad than expected
tl;dr will absolutely be bothering my parents again this week to steal their iPlayer access and watch this special again, and now i am FREE to write reams of Sunless AU fanfic with wild abandon

Actually the Gifs are all from This website, which the official CotL twitter account had re-tweeted and it also lets you re-size the Gifs in the UI so I just resized them to fit for posts so they don’t take up too much room
You can also customize any follower on their and get their animations too so you could create your own follower-sona and have gifs of them!
I’ve had multiple people tell me that when they see Lambert (the character’s name) that they think of me! So I thought hey, i might as well use that!
The other Emotes and icons are use are actually from the official Discord for massive monster
So that’s where I’ve gotten all my stuff from, because honestly I’m too lazy to make actual icons
but if you’re wondering: yes I did have Lambert as a tiny muse for a little bit but their icons were completely different and I wasn’t on the blog for more than a few days lmao
